The Liar by Alexandra Silva is an extended version of the novella named Deceiver from an Anthology.
Damon and Ava gave me good hate to love energy all thanks to their crazy chemistry. What was for Ava a very hot one night stand turned into so much more when her new employer is none other than Damon. He had ulterior motives when he slept with Ava and uses it to his advantage. Their banter and the sex was so good. He’s very vocal about what he wants from Ava and isn’t afraid to play dirty but Ava is a fierce heroine who pushes back.
Yes, Damon is an ass he certainly has a soft side too and that’s his family.
The other characters especially Lacie and Fran was a highlight who were a great support to both Ava and Damon.
The Liar was very entertaining and fast paced. So if you’re in the mood for a scheming hero, steam and a lovely HEA this book is definitely it.

Damon and Ava met at a club giving eachother fake names (Damon knew who she was) and they had a "one night" we didn't get to see that it was off page. The next day she's getting ready for her new job since her old one her family choice her ex fiance and not her so she's working for the enemy. She sees Damon the guy she slept with now they are on rocky ground and she's already ready to quick but Damon blackmails her with something so now she's stays.
From here idk I didn't click with them? They had some banter but I wasn't vibing with them. I tried so hard but something was missing for me. The spicy scenes were good.
We get some drama and some more lies and a huge 3rd act break up because Damon wasn't being honest with Ava. And a Hea between them. I would read the best friends book but that couple is focused on them cheating together. The guy is married. So yeah.

The story is about Damon and Ava, they both meet at the bar and instantly we know what happens next right, yup, people, they both have this one night stand... After that she founda that he is going to her boss, that she going to work in his company.
But the crazy is thing, here is, that Damon knows that Ava, who is her competitor daughter and she leaved her dad's company to show that she is capable of managing her dad's company which is now in the hands of her ex fiance.
I know, it's kinda crazy right. So, Damon, is a CEO of his publishing company, which is most number in the country, but he wants to buy his competitor company, that's is Ava. So he took his chance that if he uses her to get the company. Evey thing will sort it out right. That's what he wanted since the beginning of the game.
But but, these two are can't get enough of each other, Ava, I need to tell about her. She is fire, like, literally, she didn't give a f***k about anything with Damon, because he is very rude and arrogant towards her and she calls him "Asshole" That's really gets to me every time while reading 🤣😂 And she is determined to prove that she is far more capable of getting back her company from her ex. I don't really like her parents, how could her dad give their company to someone who is outside and also when your daughter is in front your eyes but the company goes to someone else. So much of drama though.
Thes two are like, they hate each other completely, argue and fight with each other, at the same the burn is so intense and the intimate, the need for each other is so amazing. One thing is that, Ava doesn't know about Damon plan and all, I don't know reveal that here, how she will know Damon plan, who chose her to work for his company and all, while time the truth will out. That is so intriguing to read.. And also, author included the cute messages from each other.
Overall, the story is good, it's a nice and relaxing read for me. I truly enjoyed it though. If you like to read billionaire romance where all the lies lay behind them, then you must check out this book. Hope you'll like it.

Coming back to try and add more later, BUT Damon and Ava's office romance is one of my new favorites. They ignite immediately but deceptions and omissions give their story incredible push and pull, and their interactions are full of love/hate steamy chemistry and lip biting tension! I love how Damon falls and once he does, boy is he fiercely protective/possessive! A twist has Ava a bit more reluctant to completely open herself up, though deep down she knows it's a lost cause. Overall, a fast paced engaging story that hit all the marks! 5 forbidden stars for The Liar. I can't wait to read more!

Ava's new boss is the man she slept with the night before, leading to an awkward first meeting at work. On her part. He already knew who she was, and planned to use their little encounter to his advantage.
Damon and Ava should have been enemies, but the attraction was too much to deny. The relationship between them turned from hate to love, with a heap of miscommunication and drama in between.
With an interesting dynamic, a steamy romance, and fun side characters, this was an easy read to get sucked into - one I read from start to finish in one sitting. I enjoyed this, my first story from this author.

Loved loved this book! This is Ava and Damon’s journey and it’s one I thoroughly enjoyed. Oh Damon you will love him yet hate him and want to punch him yet make out heavily with him. Ava she is a little sassy a little sweet and perfect for him. I honestly was glad Ava left her family’s media house because what her father does is an a-hole move for sure. Loved that the one man who rocked her world ended up being her new boss. Oh boy I don’t want to give much away before this book is so good and I can just tell you everything but it wouldn’t be fair. So grab this book it’s so freaking good and I highly recommend.

Honestly this was the perfect concoction; first you’ve got workplace rivals, then add lots of spice, add tonnes of sexual tension, a large helping of enemies to lovers, ooo and whack an accidental pregnancy into the mix as well and oh wait, we can’t forgot the betrayal, secrets and heartache. Oh shit… and the GROVELLING 🥹 oh man the grovelling had me crying, swooning, smiling all at the same time. He owns my heart now.
anyways… if that wasn’t enough to convince you to read this book then boy you need to sort it out… you’re missing out on top tier spice and romance!!!!!!

I devoured this book. Damon is a jerk who has it all about running his company and getting what he wants. Ava has been betrayed and is starting over. When their paths cross, it's nothing but hate and chemistry. Fran was a welcome addition who brought out a different side of Damon. I loved how she put him in his place! I loved how the characters were developed and we got to know all sides of them. A great read!

Just wow, Damon is 🔥🔥🔥🔥. In the beginning, he is an absolute assshole to Ava and I hated him and wanted Ava to slap him so hard. I loved the way their relationship developed though. This was a very good book to read I loved it so much ❤️

Oh so good! You are going to want to read this book. It needs to be on your TBR list. Alexandra Silva hit this one out of the ballpark. Damon/Ava whose chemistry is like no one I imagined would have. It's sizzling....

Damon and Ava, the two lead characters, in this enemies to lovers romance are incredible together. In the beginning they’re like water and oil, completely separate components and when they try to mix are violently shaken together but don’t last the distance. Then as time goes on, their components change and they seem to gel much better… sort of!
There are so many ups and downs in this romance, I honestly wanted to hit Damon over the head occasionally because of his arrogant manner. He truly nearly drove me up the wall at times but then he actually listened to advice and thought about things. Being an extremely intelligent businessman it was about time too. 😄 Ava is one sassy, determined editor who goes from heartbreak to reinventing herself even though it meant the loss of her family. I felt really sorry for her and with things at her new workplace not being quite as crystal clear as one would hope, my worry for her increased.
All of this is not giving away things as you’ll read about these quickly enough in the book. Be prepared though to hop on that emotional roller coaster ride as the story unfolds because where one minute you are infuriated with what’s happening or with the character/s, the next you are laughing at the fun banter. Suspicion, intrigue, disappointment, happiness and gratitude are also experienced on that ride all in entertaining scenes. The fabulous thing is that you don’t realise you are going through these because you are so involved and invested in the characters and storyline. Such is the brilliance of the writing that allows you, or opening invites you, the reader, inside as a participant in this tale. I literally couldn’t put the book down and was totally absorbed from cover to cover.
I totally recommend this story to every lover of great romance novels. The sneak peek into the next book to be released by this author, The Matchmaker, has me wanting it now because it sounds so good!

I originally read this when it was called Deceiver when it was part of the Hate To Want You Anthology that was released on kindle. I now got to read new, improved and remaster version now called The Liar, and holy hell it did not disappoint 🔥 Alexandra understood the assignment and turned it up. My copy is a kindle arc version of the book.

I've said it so many times, Alexandra knows how to write a passive alpha asshole and make us swoon over them (I'm looking at you Freddie and Casper). Damon is no exception, I dont know how Alexandra does it but damn, she makes me fall for the controlling asshole every damn time.
Based in New York, we meet Damon and Ava. This is an enemies to lovers, workplace, a rivalmance if you will. Also added for some extra spice is "touch her you die", protective asshole, a push and pull thats off the charts and just for some added spice, the surprise pregnancy troupe. I know its not a popular troupe (I'm not a fan myself) but, dont let it put you off, I barely registered it. Alexandra is the only author that I'll read this troupe from. The only one, that's how good she is with it.
I was more interested in the dynamic, the banter, the games, the push and pull, the sex and spice and those really dirty scenes that we secretly love so much. Because lets face it, its why we read these types of stories. And like the first line says "here's to kicking ass and getting laid".
I cant wait to see what Alexandra does with series, I'm already in love with the next heroine and the set up.

Based in New York, we meet Damon and Ava. This is an enemies to lovers, workplace, a rivalmance if you will. Also added for some extra spice is "touch her you die", protective asshole, a push and pull thats off the charts and just for some added spice, the surprise pregnancy troupe. I know its not a popular troupe (I'm not a fan myself) but, dont let it put you off, I barely registered it. Alexandra is the only author that I'll read this troupe from. The only one, that's how good she is with it.
I was more interested in the dynamic, the banter, the games, the push and pull, the sex and spice and those really dirty scenes that we secretly love so much. Because lets face it, its why we read these types of stories. And like the first line says "here's to kicking ass and getting laid".
I cant wait to see what Alexandra does with series, I'm already in love with the next heroine and the set up.

However as things move along and we go through all kinds of moments with them, things begin to change. He was once a man who wouldn't listen to a soul and knew how to take and run his business. He didn't need anyone's advice. He will drive you absolutely crazy at times. But, that is part of the fun in reading this story. Ava is sassy who is reinventing her self and shes smart. She has lost her family and some friends. She has a heartbreaking story at times but it was amazing watching her build her life once again. There is so much that goes on in this book that I do not want to give anything away. I really loved the story they had to tell and had the best time reading it.

Review: Get the fire extinguishers! Ava and Damon are HOT!! This book has it all and is a perfect read for anyone who enjoys a good workplace and enemy to lover romance. Ava and Damon have an intense chemistry and tension right off the bat and I am there for it!
Ava meets Damon right after breaking up with her Ex-boyfriend and leaving her job. She is heartbroken and feels betrayed after being done dirty at her family company. What she doesn’t expect is that the mysterious stranger she meets and has a one-night stand with is her new boss.
Damon is diabolical yet sweet when it comes to Ava. His trio of friends in the office knows why she was brought on since he was a bad past with her father and the old company Ava worked at. It is almost like he has a devil and angel on his shoulder where Ava is concerned.
The couple’s intense attraction and pull become undeniable throughout the book and we begin to see Damon soften and change his ways for Ava. While both of them are headstrong and stubborn, they do not own up to mistakes until they have too.
The couple’s tough times were reminiscent of a true couple which made the book that much better. The supporting characters were also developed very well and helped with making the book a terrific read! I recommend this book to anyone who love a good workplace and enemy to lovers read.

Ava is reeling after quitting her job at the owned by her father. She was under appreciated. She worked hard and he gave her promotion to her now ex-fiancé. She gets a job with the competition. She is emotionally vulnerable. Her family cut off contact. She is trying to unwind with her best friend, Lacie. She meets a handsome stranger and they hook up. They give fake names. He, however, knows who she is. The next day she finds out he is the new boss. He blackmails her with video of their night.
Damon is all about business. Ruthless, cold and anything goes when comes to his company. The only soft area is his family. He made it hard to like him. Just as we are about to give up, he comes through with the thoughtfulness, the possessiveness and the vulnerability. He still made a lot of mistakes. He didn’t know how to maneuver a relationship. He had to get advice from his female best friend(Fran). He managed to stumble through get the girl but it wasn’t without some work.
The move from enemies to love was a bit blurred. They hated each other and then the didn’t. I didn’t quite get when it switched from the drunk scene in the office to the weekend date. Ava has had betrayal from someone she thought loved her. So she ends up in a bar with her bestie. Then whilst at the bar she meet a tall, dark and handsome man. There's chemistry right away.
When she starts her new job she get the absolute shock of her life when she finds out who the boss is. Yep you guessed it its Mr dirty talking, Tall, Dark and Handsome himself Damon Coldwell.
There's all the Enemies to Lovers in the beginning but you just know deep down that they both actually like eachother and they have that off the charts chemistry between them...
I loved Damon and Ava's story so much. The epilogue was also so darn sweet and then hot as hell. I was either giggling, saying wow that was hot, swooning, going omg don't you dare do it, getting all emotional cos of how sweet it was and then all the hand on the heart moments.

If you are a fan of grumpy Sunshine & boss- employee romance, The Liar by Alexandra Silva is worth a read for you. Damon was the kind of ahole alpha you will hate to love. Ava was a mix of sweet and sassy. It was definitely spicy and nuclear hot.
Ava left her family media house because she was not appreciated and her father gave the promotion to her fiance. She joined the rival media house and she finds out the one night stand she had yesterday at bar..is her new boss and company CEO Damon Coldwell. Now Damon lured her in because she is the best asset of his enemy and he won't stop at anything to take it down. He will play dirty but when heart gets involved, things get complicated.
I loved Damon's character. He is the unapologetically ruthless businessman. Everyone thinks he is cold hearted, calculating, controlling and manipulative. And he is all that. He literally blackmailed Ava to keep working for him. Ava wanted to prove that she is the best but she never wanted to destroy her family business. There was an instant love-hate-lust dynamics between these two. At the end, Damon ended up changing everything at a high cost because Ava meant everything to him. But not before he almost lost him. Their chemistry is very explosive for sure. Damon is a beast in bed and his dirty talk was so good. Damon definitely went possessive caveman on Ava. She pushed back at every step too. She is a beautiful talented woman and her heart and spirit was broken but Damon helped her to heal and grow. I feel the emotional bond was not very real here. I didn’t feel their love or how their chemistry turned to real feelings. It was all over the place. The sex was hot but I didn't find the chemistry of heart. I couldn't connect to the characters.

Damon Coldwell makes me weak in the knees with his whole demeanor & don’t even get me started on his dirty talk. Ava Monroe ends up leaving her fathers company because he gave the promotion she worked her ass off for to her now ex fiancé Marshall. She goes out with her best friend Lacie the night before she starts her new job with the rival of her father’s company, she meets a man and fake names were exchanged, but a great time was definitely given. Things get crazy when she realizes her great time is now her new boss. Damon is a powerful man and when he wants something he isn’t afraid to blackmail you to get it. I’m obsessed with this man he may have lied and is definitely an asshole sometimes, but he has a sweet side and damn does he know how to grovel. The spice is so good, along with the attraction these two have for each other could set a room on fire. I can’t get over how her family treated her or even the trauma Fran went through with her pregnancy, hurt my heart that’s for sure. I absolutely adored both epilogues! I would love to see a book dedicated to Lacie in the future! Other than that Damon is definitely going to be taking over my dreams going forward.

But the mc was an a-hole, and not in a good way. He blackmailed her with their s*x tape!!! That was a first red flag. Usually I'm all for red flags, but this one was too much. He slept with her under fasle pretenses. Then coerced her to stay in his company.
Even if we forget about all of this...he was never considerate, was always horny and wanted to fuck fmc. His every thought was sexualised.
And THEY WERE IN LOVE AFTER THEY HAD S*X FOR FIRST TIME??!!!!!! WHICH WAS JUST A ONE NIGHT STAND.
Oh, sorry i forgot ONE NIGHT STAND for fmc. Because the bastard knew who she was and that she'll start as a new exec in his company the next day.
And fmc was a complete doormat. She let him walk all over her. He seduced her everytime to do his bidding.
Don't get me started on his grovelling. It was not pathetic. THE BEST PART- it was fmc who went back to him, she said sorry for 'hiding things' , and not even once. She said sorry multiple times. And he's like oh well!!!

But of course, when Ava starts her new job guess who works there? Not only works there but is her boss...Damon.
These two get off on the wrong foot from the start but have a huge attraction to each other. Neither can forget their steamy encounter. The push and pull of these two fighting their attraction while trying to keep it professional was not super intense to me. I know some reviewers have given this 5 stars but the chemistry fell flat for me. Maybe I have just read too many stories with this type of storyline. It was ok and worth the read but similar to what I've read before.

Damon is the ultimate alphahole, sexy domineering likes to get what he wants and stubborn and has more money then he knows what to do with. Then we have lovey Ava, sassy headstrong, women who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it but also can be incredibly stubborn.when their worlds collide they collide in the most epic of ways. They fight in almost every second of the day at work. Most importantly the underlining attraction they have is next level. But she goes toe to toe with him and isn’t afraid to call him out when he is being ridiculous. That is what he needs is someone to keep him in check. Watching them fight and banter is absolutely hilarious. They take it to the next level on occasion. But they do have major trust issue to over come on both sides. Once they figure out their issues and give into their feelings it is a beautiful thing. They make each other better versions of themselves. I’m glad they got their happily ever after.

Such an awesome book , kept me on my toes. I loved the storyline it was so fun, the author did a fantastic job. It was captivating and alluring to the point you just don’t want to put the book down. I had to finish it in one go as the writing is addictive. The Main Characters are beautifully written. I enjoyed reading about their stories.
The relationship between Ava and Damon was sizzling 🥵. Their enemies to lovers was so interesting to see. I liked the tropes in the book , it was fascinating. The twists in the book is really good . Damon is the possessive, protective alpha we all love reading about. Ava is such a strong , intelligent and passionate character. I enjoy the whole book , the ending and epilogue for me was even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this book.
