Hold onto your spacesuits, because The Alien: Seed Planet Initiative by Daniel Wescott is about to take you on a wild ride through the galaxy! It's like if Star Trek and The Sopranos had a baby, and that baby grew up to be a gritty, mind-bending sci-fi thriller.
From the moment you start reading, you'll be hooked on the high-stakes action, pulse-pounding suspense, and mind-blowing concepts. And with characters that are as complex and multifaceted as they are relatable, you'll find yourself rooting for Michael Forbes, the protagonist, every step of the way.
Daniel Wescott has created a world that's both familiar and alien at the same time. His descriptions of the planet, its inhabitants, and the challenges faced by Michael Forbes are so vivid and detailed that you'll feel like you're right there with him. But it's the emotional depth of the story that really sets The Alien: Seed Planet Initiative apart. Wescott isn't afraid to explore the darker side of humanity, and his characters are all flawed in their own unique ways. By the time you finish the book, you'll feel like you've gone on a journey of self-discovery along with Michael.
But beware, dear reader, for this book is not for the faint of heart. There are some pretty intense scenes of violence and sexuality that might make you blush, but hey, what's a little gore and steamy action between friends, right?
As you dive into the pages of The Alien: Seed Planet Initiative, prepare yourself for a wild ride. This isn't your typical sci-fi thriller – it's packed with unexpected twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. From the first page to the last, you'll be on the edge of your seat, eagerly devouring each chapter to find out what happens next.
I could only get 20 pages in before I knew I would not enjoy the main character or writing style. To me, the main character screams white male arrogance and the use of f*ck, f*cking, f*ckers, etc sometimes multiple times per page was overwhelming. I then searched f*ck in the book to see if the usage decreases after the beginning, but instead the book turns up 273 results in a 366 page book. (Love that the author's note says their editor helped them "lose so many of the F-bombs" - I cannot imagine there being more.)
I received an eARC of this book from VoraciousReadersOnly in exchange for my honest review.
Brilliant! What a great read. Great characters in this sci-fi thriller. A finish that leaves you wanting to know what next? A thoroughly enjoyable read
Michael, the main character, is so charmingly clueless that I couldn't help but root for him. The narrator's performance was outstanding, and I can't wait to hear more from him. However, the real stars of the show are Dean and Lizzie - their twisted relationship and the horrors they inflict on each other are both horrifying and mesmerizing.
I hope Lizzie survives and becomes a super-villain in the next book, as she deserves a chance to exact her revenge.
It's a story full of emotional ups and down. Smooth transition between scenes. The plot and the plot twist were shocking and I liked it a lot. The story is sci-fi in nature yet the writing style of the story is so Impressive that a reader would feel that events are happening in real in front of him/her. Grab your own copy to explore more into it.
✍️ What is this? A sci-fiction or a suspense thriller?? I don't get the genre exactly and my mind was just blown away.
When you forget to remember the genre or it hardly matters, this means it's a real page-turner. Let's talk about the story -
👉 The protagonist of the story is accidentally stuck on an unknown planet. Then the story revolves around his fight for survival.
Fight with the odds, adjust to the unknown, fear and humour together in his life, human-alien face-offs, tension, and drama altogether narrated beautifully. Well-developed characters and the right tone for pitching make this read a pleasant one. Of course, the story is well gripping, and it has some fantastic technological elements and the much more interesting twist and turns, but designing a plot like this - is itself a five-star thing.
Daniel Wescott is an excellent author. I enjoyed his previous book Inhabited about a demonic evil possessing a family, which was simultaneously emotional and terrifying. This book is even better than Inhabited, but in a completely different way. First, the plot is extremely original and instantly engaging. It jumps around to tell the story from the perspective of different characters in each chapter. It starts off with Michael and his ship crashing into another planet over 500 light years away from Earth. Then it explores what's occurring from the point of view of the little human people who live on the planet, while introducing the story of another full-size human, Una, on the same planet (but perhaps not in the same dimension?) While this is occurring, the book skips back to Earth to show Michael's fiancée, Lizzie, who is a very arrogant, selfish, and terrible person (and I don't understand how Michael never saw that), but she doesn't deserve what happens to her at the hands of a sadistic killer, who is as evil and psychopathic as they come, and then there's an evil corporation that plans to destroy the whole solar system itself to become filthy rich (sounds somewhat familiar). I think what I liked most about this book is that it made me question what if there was not only life on other planets, but other human or human-like life on other planets hundreds of light years away, and also made me question what a more morally enlightened human planet and society could look like, in the story of Una and the Seed Planet Initiative, and if Earth is an example of a less evolved human society. There was only one minor issue I had with the book, and that was the whole thing was taking place in the year 2072 Earth time, yet there were repeated references to technology popular in 2024 that would likely be considered ancient technology by 2072, such as Spotify, Siri, Uber, Craigslist, Indeed, Instagram, YouTube, etc. I can't imagine any of those devices or sites still being relevant in 2072. Other than that though, I loved the book and I am now heavily invested in this story. I need to immediately read the second book to find out what happens!

Review: A science Fiction thriller, mystery, adventurous book that starts with lines - “There will be no rescue,”. “Succeed or be lost.” and sets in 2072, Earth Time.
And it's not enough to make you intrigue? Then let's tell me why the lines told, it's because that day, they're launching an untested machine that bends space, that going to transport you to another part of the universe basically instantaneously. And they have plan to go to a place, five-hundred-and-eighty light-years away, they suspect is probably a Earth like planet will be.
And for this experiment they chooses Michael Forbes, who stupidly brave enough to do it.
The very first chapter is starts with the heavy scientific explanation and also introduction to our main character, Michael. Then we go on an mysterious, thrilling, adventure with him.
The story told from various POVs, mainly MC Michael, then the other characters. The main plot is very interesting and mysterious and the story end up abruptly, that I cannot believe the author really end the book like that. I mean that's biggest cliffhanger right there. It remind me another cliffhanger in another sci-fi is Scythe, but that's in book two. But no problem, going to wait for the second book, it is that good.
So definitely a book worth the read. And definitely going to be a great journey for sci-fi lovers.

I think this is a fun story. 4 stars because a few times moving back and forth between planets and time can be a bit too much, and while the story is very good the writing could benefit from a good editor.
Michael Forbes is a test pilot who crash-lands on an alien planet, and let me tell you...this book was a ride. The worldbuilding felt fresh, with just the right mix of science, action, and “wait, what just happened?” twists. I enjoyed how real the characters felt, even when Michael’s decisions had me shaking my head. It’s one of those stories that feels part survival tale, part corporate thriller, and part big-idea sci-fi. Definitely gave me Gulliver’s Travels vibes but in a modern, high-stakes way. If you like your sci-fi fast and fun, this one’s worth picking up.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

He is lured into a web of corporate espionage and dishonesty as he fights to live in this harsh environment, and it threatens to completely engulf him. Accidentally, he landed the ship on an alien planet. Here he has no way to escape and can get help to return from space. He was grounded on the planet with no contact. Does he survive the tough environment with others and the unpredictable happenings in it? That is the rest of the book.
All i have to say that the author has done a great job with penning down the whole book with unbiased honesty and sincerity, making us delve deep into our journey and experiences.
I’ll admit that this book was not what I expected, but it was absolutely brilliantly written and a truly enjoyable read.
The world building is intricate and it draws you in and ends up feeling so familiar that you can convince yourself that you’ve actually visited the planet Michael has found himself on.
Michael Forbes is a great protagonist, he’s not perfect, but again there’s something in the writing style that makes him feel like somebody you’ve met before.
And in fact every character has been given the same attention which adds depth to the story.
Overall if you’re reading these reviews trying to decided whether or not you should start this book, I’d definitely say do it- you won’t be disappointed.
I haven't read a story like this. This book is a page turner from beginning to end. Michael Forbes, the protagonist of the story is accidentally stuck on an unknown planet. He fights to live in this unfamiliar harsh environment. He becomes embroiled in a dangerous game of corporate espionage and deceit that threatens to consume him entirely. The author takes you on an incredible journey through space. This book has everything to satisfy the desire of a science lover. Well-developed characters and the right tone for pitching make this read a pleasant one. The first part finishes with a cliffhanger, making you wonder what will happen in the second part. Overall I enjoyed reading this book.
I love books/movies dealing with inter-stellar travel (Aliens), inter-dimensional beings, and inter-timenal travel (yes, I invented the inter-timenal term to better matchup with consistency of/with/between the other 2 "inter-") and so I was anxious to check this one out. After reading fare such as this I always ask myself?? Would I pay to see a screen-adaption version in my local Theater. Answer in this case: YES! Joseph M. Lenard author: "Terror Strikes: Coming Soon to a City Near You" author "How to Write a Book and Get It Published: Hints, Tips & Techniques" author "ChristiTutionalist (TM) Politics"
I really enjoyed the interplay of stories in this book. Mixing elements of eco activists against corporate greed, first contact, confidence artists, psycho thrillers, the godfather, surviver and sci-fi tech wonders into a tight whole.
As the book unfolds you are introduced to the various elements, some of which slowly dawn on you and others which are a complete surprise, that in hindsight, you realize Wescott has been dropping clues about as the book develops.
A book that is accessible to the lovers of many genres.
