Last weekend, I watched the film of Peppermint Candy(1999) by Chang-Dong Lee. Then, I accidentally found the book written by him with an interesting name There's a Lot of Shit, which includes a series of stories.
He has such an amazing insight on how complex it could be when people interact with each other. One of the main character was jealous of his brother, and reported his brother to the police but regretted when the police was really coming. Another one was tortured because she was suspected to be a communist and a leading role in the student movement but she actually had nothing to say if she did not want to lie. These stories are structured really well.
My takeaway is that you cannot really get to know yourself till you are bounced back during the interactions with others.
