NO MERCY was nothing like the first book in the series, The Mistress' New Clothes. This book seemed emotionless to me in a way. The hero and heroine were "meh", didn't care much for them and the whole book seemed okay and boring. I liked the first half of the book, but the second half was harder to get through.
Rem is even more dominant than the hero in the first book, Zor. And he seemed to be a little too cruel to Giselle. In a way sometimes he could be sweet and hurt which I loved those scenes in the beginning, like he has this part of him that looses control but when he sucks on the heroines boobs it all goes away.
But there was this one part of the book where he forces his submission on her a lot, where I wish these males would just unsterstand, their mate is coming from a whole different world and they need to be patient with her. And I hated when in this new village the rule was women had to be nude and in public the male had to have her in a leash and chains like a dog.
That part I think is ridiculous and I get the storyline and the theme, but it is totally degrading women and I had a huge problem with that! It seemed the more I read the worse NO MERCY became. I may or may not give one more book in the series a chance. I don't really know at this point. I totally get that it's erotica and whatever, but the last book had way more of a storyline in my opinion.

2nd time reading this one and still liked it. Though I was getting a bit confused with all the different names and the interweaving stories. It would have been nice if she did this with one book per couple. I loved how the Rem shows off Giselle's freckles or 'spots'.

This book has explicit sex scenes. So no under 18 teens or kids reading it! Hell, I wouldn't recommend it to adults either.
It's sad when you see a series that has potential to be so much more. This futuristic sci-fi romance erotica would've been interesting if there was more world building and less relying on everything relating to sex. Boring, repetitive sex at that. I find it hard to believe that a woman can have a man have sex with her for days with no break and NOT be sore. Especially while hanging in a papoose like thing while he walks. Ugh! Very unattractive sounding. Hell, most of the stuff in here didn't work for me as the relationships were definitely an alpha male with a submissive female. Usually, I don't have problems with that in a story as long as it is clear that the guy loves her and respects her. I never got that feeling. The gals in this story are all treated as sex toys. Supposedly, there is great feelings, but I never seen it or read it. Plus, I find the whole kidnapping a gal and then initating sex when she is scared as to close to rape despite the fact that supposedly she is enjoying it. If a person says no, it means NO. A hero or heroine should not be willing to rape someone in a story of romance in my humble opinion.
The idea of a woman being kidnapped by an alien and learning about another culture and somehow falling for said alien...I am fine with that. I just don't think the author really did a good job on building the story or relationship.
And as an erotic read which is what the focus is supposed to be from what I see on the official site, it all read the same. Every sex scene including book 4 &5 that comes after this. Yes, it could be counted as kinky as you have the f/f/f/f/f or f/m/f. But it all read the same and there was no emotional connection so it came off as flat. Like I said. Very boring. I don't recommend on a romance, sci-fi, futuristic or erotica read. I already traded it in today as soon as I could.

So, even with the stupid sexual assault and kidnapping, and all the misogyny, I still basically enjoyed this book. Mainly because everyone, myself included, knows what Jaid Black books are all about, and is mentally prepared when reading one of them. My favourite part? The threat of the hero's devolution. Yum.

This wasn't my favorite, but it was still worth reading because it is part of the excellent Trek series.
It was a fun escape. Rem was starting to devolve (a type of insanity) because he had been without his mate for so long. He found his mate Giselle who was a 36 year old virgin in Australia. The cure for his devolvement was to have as much sex as possible with Giselle for several years. It was fun seeing her go from one extreme to the other. The author came up with a few more creative ways of having sex. There were some good lines causing me to chuckle. The author used similar language in all of these books, which added to the humor. For example, rooms were called "chambers." There was the contol chamber on the ship and the battle-planning chamber in the palace, the sleeping chamber, etc. Women were called "wenches." Retail stores and restaurants were called shopping "stalls" and dining "stalls."

# 2 in the series
Rem and Giselle are main but of course we run into previous characters.
Rem after the Jera facade is slowly going mad and without finding his true Sacred Mate he will devolve into a basier animal instincts. Bascially a killing monster and the most feared fate of Tystonians who don't find Sacred Mates or lose them.
Giselle is from present Earth day Australia on a date hoping to lose her virginity when of course Rem finds and claims her throwing her into a whole new world..literally.
So seven foot tall "alien" warrior and a human virgin female who is trying to adjust to her new life. Plenty of tense moments, funny moments, and of course sex orgasm sex and did I mention orgasms.
The author does a wonderful job creating different dimentions and characters that it is hard not to dive in and get lost in this whole new world. My favorite part of the story is how Giselle "handles" Rem's bouts of madness. It still makes me smile and giggle.
There's prolly more I could say but honesly I just jumped into the next book and trying not to mix them up. I highly recommend this series to erotica readers who enjoy plenty of sex, non-stop orgams, hedonistic "aliens", and much more.
I suggest reading the first book The Empress New Clothes to fully enjoy but the author does do a good sum up that may or may not have you as confused and lost as Giselle at first.

I have to say this is my least favorite of the entire Trek series. I'm willing to read about of far out, unconventional practices but the women are treated quite horribly in this book. It's really degrading and I don't care for it. The woman at the center of the book is practically naked most of the time. She has to have sex in public because well that's just how things are done on this planet. She has very few rights of her own. Also, what's with Jaid Black's heroes? They are nearly always over 7 feet tall and enormously muscular.
This comment is aimed at this book and the other books in the Trek Mi'Qan series - I also have a problem with how convenient it is that these Sacred Mates from Earth have no close relatives or friends. It would be nice if the author wrote about at least one woman who had living parents or siblings who meant a great deal to her. It seems like all the human females have no close ties, no kids, no one that would truly miss them when she goes to the planet Tryston.
Jaid Black takes the whole alpha male thing too far. I don't mind alpha males, but these males are far too controlling and domineering that it's not sexy at all.

Rem and Giselle’s book. You get to know more about Rem and his affliction, the devolution. Most of the book takes place as Rem and his new sacred mate, Giselle are traveling back to his home on Sypar, one of Planet Tryston’s moons in the Trek Mi Q’an galaxy. Rem and his small band of warriors, joined by his friend Lord Death, and a bound servant Yoli, and along with his new sacred mate, Giselle have mechanical trouble with their spaceship as they crash land on an unfamiliar alien world filled with predators. Then they go through a portal to another world in the 6th dimension, that Rem has been to before in the past. They are trying to make the long trek to a portal that will connect to the 7th dimension (Rem’s home dimension) so they can celebrate Rem and Giselle’s marriage and coupling with the rest of the royal Q’an Tal family. We get to check in with Rem’s brother, Emperor Zor, and his wife Empress Kyra, and their children, especially their daughter Kara who is due to have her coming out party at age 18 but still has seven years to go to be fully mated with her betrothed, High King Cam. Also her brother, High King Jor is of age to receive his harem. Rem’s brother King Dak, and his wife Queen Geris, and their children make an appearance as well, and their brother King Kil, fearing for their lives, sets out with a hunting party to aid in his brother and sister-within-the-law’s safe return. The epilogue sets up the next book’s story for Kil in book 3.

Good quick book.
While there was some high handedness in this book that was over the top, it wasn't as bad as the first book (I'm probably getting adjusted to series!), but Giselle did stand up for herself alot and started the way she meant to finish. Rem's issue cleared up quickly book wise which helped in decreasing the over abundant male dominance of the series. I like how she interweaves other characters from past and future books. I like that Gis is from Australia and Rem saved her dogs as well!

Giselle McKenzie is surprised to find herself the Sacred Mate of a 7' space alien and swept away to his dimension. King Rem has been searching for his mate for 17 years and is on the verge of devolving into a savage if he doesn't find her soon. This erotic tale is a slightly different kidnapping and adaptation theme from the first 2 stories with a run in with an already devolved monster and a visit to a neighboring planet with some interesting customs. OK addition to the series.

17 Yessat years later. Kyra now has 7 children, 4 girls & 3 boys. Geris has 6 children, 3 girls & 3 boys.
Rem is devolving but thanks to Giselle, he recovers his sanity.
Kara & Dari are the only 2 children of Kyra & Geris that have found their Sacred Mate since they were a few months old; both Kyra & Geris feel for them, for they will never know freedom like their sisters & other women when they reach 25 Yessat years old.

Loved it!!
This series was a lot for me to take in because of the highly sexualized nature of the cultures the characters live in, but I love it. There's a distinct freedom to every interaction between Rem and Gis. I especially loved the whole saving Rem from becoming a beast thing as well! Just an all around great read.

The book is somehow humorous. The scenes are tamed compared to book 1.
My review is not for intelligent discussion. It's what I felt/thought while reading the book. For 2021, I would rate the book this way:
1 - DNF'ed
2 - does not exist
3 - did not like
4 - it was okay
5 - I like it / I enjoy reading it (but it doesn't mean I recommend it)

Not as good as the first book. Here the heroine is carried around in a papoose and seems permanently impaled on the hero who seems to need to have sex almost constantly less he devolves. Erm, it was all quite entertaining though.

Kurz-Meinung:
Da mir „Burning up Flint“ von Laurann Dohner gut gefallen hat, wollte ich gleich im Sci Fi Erotik Genre weiter lesen. Bei diesem Buch wollte ich eigentlich Band 1 kaufen, aber war nicht bereit den vollen Preis zu zahlen. Diesen zweiten Teil gab es für wenig Geld gebraucht und deshalb fange ich also mitten in der Reihe an.
Das ganze ist mit dem oben genannten Buch kaum vergleichbar. Der Sci Fi Anteil ist völlig anders. Man trifft hier auf verschiedene Planten und deren Bewohner. Bevor hier jetzt jemand anfängt Feuer zu fangen, sage ich aber gleich, dass es sich hier bei alles und jedem nur um Sex dreht. Das Buch liest sich wie ein Fanfiction aus dem Bereich PWP (PornWithoutPlot). Das bisschen Handlung was es hier gibt, ist nur da um nicht eine Sexszenen nach der anderen zu schreiben. Trotzdem kriegt die Autorin es hin nicht eine Seite ohne eine Andeutung von sexuellen Aktionen zu schreiben. Es geht schon in Richtung sehr lächerlich und ist nur für harte PWP Fans etwas.
Die erotischen Szenen sind ebenfalls nicht sinnlich oder besonders sexy. Frauen sind hier anscheinend nur zur sexuellen Befriedung der Männer da. Die 'Ehe'frauen werden zwar etwas besser behandelt und die Beziehungen sind bei solchen Konstellationen monogam, aber ansonsten sind die Männer hier dauergeil und ständig auf der Suche nach 'etwas' wo sie ihr Ding reinstecken können. Gott ich weiß gar nicht wie ich das beschreiben soll. Sie sind wirklich besessen. Hier gibt es Szenen von einem Mann mit 6 oder 7 Frauen (Sklaven). Anscheinend sind alle begeistert bei der Sache obwohl der Mann meist nur untätig herumliegt. Wenn es sich um ein 'echtes' Paar handelt ist der Mann extrem besitzergreifen und ebenfalls dauergeil. Und das ist nicht übertrieben. Sie haben offensichtlich kein körperliches Limit und komischerweise nehmen auch die menschlichen Frauen dabei keinen Schaden. Es ist ein Rätsel. Einige oder besser gesagt viele Szenen sind richtig albern. Eine Frau bei einer Wanderung im Tragegurt vor dem Mann geschnallt, so dass sie selbst während sie herumlaufen noch 'verbunden' sein können. Außerdem scheinen hier alle Busenfetischisten zu sein und wie kleine Babys nur durch das andocken daran ihre Ruhe zu finden. Die Prota ist super naiv und es gibt keinen logisch nachvollziehbaren Grund warum sie sich in ihren Mann verliebt.
Das ganze ist so absurd, dass man wie bei einem Autounfall einfach nicht wegsehen kann. In diesem Fall tatsächlich das ganze Buch durchliest. Ich empfehle es eindeutig nicht weiter, auch wenn es von mir 2 Sterne mit Tendenz zu 3 bekommen hat! Man muss schon einen sehr ausgefallenen Geschmack haben, um das gut zu finden.

Das Buch liest sich wie ein Fanfiction aus dem Bereich PWP (PornWithoutPlot). Das bisschen Handlung was es hier gibt, ist nur da um nicht eine Sexszenen nach der anderen zu schreiben. Trotzdem kriegt die Autorin es hin nicht eine Seite ohne eine Andeutung von sexuellen Aktionen zu schreiben. Es geht schon in Richtung sehr lächerlich und ist nur für harte PWP Fans etwas.
Die erotischen Szenen sind ebenfalls nicht sinnlich oder besonders sexy. Frauen sind hier anscheinend nur zur sexuellen Befriedung der Männer da. Die 'Ehe'frauen werden zwar etwas besser behandelt und die Beziehungen sind bei solchen Konstellationen monogam, aber ansonsten sind die Männer hier dauergeil und ständig auf der Suche nach 'etwas' wo sie ihr Ding reinstecken können. Gott ich weiß gar nicht wie ich das beschreiben soll. Sie sind wirklich besessen. Hier gibt es Szenen von einem Mann mit 6 oder 7 Frauen (Sklaven). Anscheinend sind alle begeistert bei der Sache obwohl der Mann meist nur untätig herumliegt. Wenn es sich um ein 'echtes' Paar handelt ist der Mann extrem besitzergreifen und ebenfalls dauergeil. Und das ist nicht übertrieben. Sie haben offensichtlich kein körperliches Limit und komischerweise nehmen auch die menschlichen Frauen dabei keinen Schaden. Es ist ein Rätsel. Einige oder besser gesagt viele Szenen sind richtig albern. Eine Frau bei einer Wanderung im Tragegurt vor dem Mann geschnallt, so dass sie selbst während sie herumlaufen noch 'verbunden' sein können. Außerdem scheinen hier alle Busenfetischisten zu sein und wie kleine Babys nur durch das andocken daran ihre Ruhe zu finden. Die Prota ist super naiv und es gibt keinen logisch nachvollziehbaren Grund warum sie sich in ihren Mann verliebt.
Das ganze ist so absurd, dass man wie bei einem Autounfall einfach nicht wegsehen kann. In diesem Fall tatsächlich das ganze Buch durchliest. Ich empfehle es eindeutig nicht weiter, auch wenn es von mir 2 Sterne mit Tendenz zu 3 bekommen hat! Man muss schon einen sehr ausgefallenen Geschmack haben, um das gut zu finden.

Review for No Mercy No Mercy by Jaid Black is the second book in the Trek Mi Q’an series. This book features Rem the youngest brother who was bound to a woman who was not for him, unfortunately the years he spent in the loveless marriage and seeking out his true sacred mate have left him scared and on his way to becoming more beast than man. In a last ditch effort Rem travels on to Earth and finds his scared mate Giselle. Giselle is not the typical woman she is a thirty-five year old spinster who is also a virgin. Rem thinks she is perfect and is tickled to death that his mate is covered in ‘spots’. Meanwhile Giselle is on a roller coaster on the one hand she can sense his bouts of near madness but on the other she just needs a minute to herself to understand this new world.
The sequal to The Empress New Clothes was solid but not as great as the first. I liked seeing other dimensions and Giselle’s reactions where very funny. While I enjoyed this book there were a few things that were lacking. I could not quite figure out how Rem and Giselle grew from lust to love and in part I think this was challenging for me because women are really playing such a subservient role. While Rem is different than he was in the first book while that should be expected because he is devolving I thought he would have been more understanding and accommodating to Giselle instead he just needed to suckle her breasts every five minutes. This book also checks in on the characters from the first book which was nice but a little distracting and I think several scenes took away from the romance between our hero and heroine.
All in all a solid read, I still enjoyed it just not quite as much.

Hrm... I was going to write a long review and yadda yadda, but then decided against it. While yes, I did like the book, I found a few things rather degrading and some down right contradictory in this and the first book. However, I find that this is going to probably be a guilty pleasure series for me and that I have a compulsion to read the rest of the books just to see how it all ends up. Still, a few offensive things are the utter and complete spoiling of the royal class and it makes them seem rather stuck up to be honest. And while they treat their true mates with love and adoration, their views are a bit messed up in the long run, such as women have to stay pure until the age of 25, but a boy can have a harem of 50 when he turns 13. (I might also point out here, that while it is like 13 "Yessat Years", as per the book, the earth years are over 100, but still the age difference is there regardless if you count in "Yessat Years" or "Earth years". If you are curious about the series, I would start with the first book "The Empress' New Clothes" and go from there, but there is definitely heavy alpha male dominance issues in this book.
Oh yes, and I almost forgot to add. This is definitely an erotic book with a happy ending for the hero and heroine of this book, but the book is heavily sexual and there is explicit, extremely explicit sex scenes in this and the first book. If you offend easily, this is not the book for you.

This second book in this series did not have quite the same "wow"effect as the first. Still, it was entertaining enough to earn a solid 3.5 stars. It was just a little too over-the-top in many aspects. For instance, the hero was just too one-track minded and obsessed with the act of "rutting" once he found his mate that it seemed every other page had him "impaling" and "thrusting." No, seriously, when he makes a harness to carry her like a mother would a papoose, except that she is carried conveniently on the front of his body facing him . . .well, you get the idea . . . If it wasn't bad enough that all women exist to serve the pleasures of men and are required to basically go around naked covered only by a wisp of sheer fabric over their breasts like a bathing top and a low wasted skirt cut clear to the juncture of the thighs on one side, made of the same material, THEN . . . the custom of women's currency entailing the act of "sucking off" a male merchant to purchase his wares or services should easily have you cringing. There are quite a number of ridiculous and extreme socio-sexual practices in this fantastical world that at a certain point I had to seriously consider that the author was actually TRYING to be funny purposely. Then, of course, my very next thought was "This SO has to be a man writing under a pen name! Yep. Just read it and tell me you don't agree. :-D
