Review: Sky is Falling by Stephanie Kirsche

I picked up Sky is Falling expecting a cute, sweet romance. What I got was a beautiful story about taking risks, falling in love, and rediscovering ourselves.

We meet Skylar, heartbroken and lost, as she arrives in Paris—desperate to escape New York City and the life she left behind. Her trip is intended to be a brief spark of inspiration for her next book; however, the lessons she learns will have an enduring impact on her relationships, career, and identity.

How does a romance writer tell stories of love and passion when she’s no longer sure she believes in them? How can Skylar write the story her agents and fans are demanding? Just as she begins to spiral into doubt and defeat, she meets Jack—a charming, mysterious gardener in the park she drunkenly stumbles into.

I’m not one for spoilers, but I’ll say this: Jack quickly became my favorite character. I found myself rooting for Skylar to open up to him. Their easy, unexpected connection pulled me in, and I couldn’t put the story down. Would Skylar meet her deadline? Move to Paris? Find something real with Jack? Or would their secrets keep them apart?

Stephanie Kirsche delivers an ending I didn’t expect, but one I truly needed. Sky is Falling is a story about reclaiming your identity, loving yourself, and accepting every part of who you are. I’ll definitely be reading more from Kirsche.

I had the pleasure of being the first to read "Sky is Falling" by Stephanie Kirsche, and I gotta say that I was absolutely swept away from the first page. The author's attention to detail is impeccable, and I found myself completely immersed in the story.

As the plot unfolded, I felt like I was sitting right there in Sky's Airbnb studio in Paris, watching the events of the story unfold. The characters were so well-developed that I felt like I knew them personally, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way. Or completely cringing at their social media posts.

What really stood out to me about this book was the ending. It was so powerful and personal that it resonated with me on a deep level. I still find myself thinking about Sky and her heartache when I face my own personal changes in life now.

"Sky is Falling" is an absolute must-read for women. I don’t want to give away the whole premise, but we’ve all been there, letting someone else write our narrative. This fictional book still hit home and was incredibly relevant to todays love stories and the aftermath of social media.

The author's writing is captivating and engaging, and the book is full of heart, soul, and emotion. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be swept away on a journey of love, loss, and self-discovery.

It was NOT hard to fall in love with Skylar! Such a great, relatable character. This story had me laughing out loud at times and then stopping to catch my breath and THINK about what I had just read. I loved the authenticity of the story and the character's journey... Set against the backdrop of Paris, the world’s most romantic city, the story dismantles the illusion that we can pack a bag, hop a plane, and escape life's challenges. This story drives home the lesson that personal growth and real, sustainable change don't magically appear on their own when it's convenient or because the setting is perfect. These things are earned, and Skylar's journey of discovering this truth is beautiful.

As a guy, I don't usually gravitate toward romance novels, but “Sky is Falling” was a pleasant surprise. While the story focuses on love and relationships, it also touches on the struggles of finding oneself and pursuing one's passions. The characters are relatable and their interactions feel genuine, which adds to the overall appeal of the book. Overall, I would recommend “Sky is Falling” to anyone looking for a heartwarming and well-written romance novel.

An enjoyable read from a debut author. A little romance, a little grief and a lot of self reflection.
