Ukraine 24.02 - Den nye verdensorden

Rate this book

World leaders: This is the time to unite against something bigger.
Jens Worning: Yeah, I think that de-globalisering is the best idea.

This is in short about this book.
Now in long.
I read this book, because I kept seeing it, but I could not approach the topic of the war, because personal attachment to your home country is not great, when you are trying to be involved in the world outside your small community. However, this book was just not great. I hated the points, where the author was argumenting for himself and the parts where he was just going through different history points were okay? I will never understand the reasoning behind calling two slavic leaders, who were not princes, princes (Ivan the Terrible and Volodymyr). I also think that the author never came to terms with the fact that the USSR and Russia are, in fact, two different countries.
This book kind of fulfilled its purpose, it explained (in a way) how war began and why. But this book also failed to really look into so many things. It was not composed well, it seems like a couple of sandwiches of “this is my opinion”, “oh, history” and another opinion. History parts usually did not help to argue for the opinion. There are also many just very questionable opinions, like calling Crimean Tatars (they can also just be called Crimeans, fun fact) just for tatars.
It would have been okay, if this was written in like, the first three months of the war. Maybe half a year. But it was published almost a year ago after the beginning of full nation invasion, so it could have been much better.
