Rate this book
The dark reveals all secrets.
Lonnie Skyeborne is a liar and proud of it.
From the moment she was born, her mother sensed there was something extraordinary about her daughter, andtaught her to never reveal the truth of who she is.

But now, Lonnie is alone and trapped in her own web of lies.

She is the queen in name only, and afraid to trust anyone, even the princes who claim to be her allies. She still has four deadly hunts to complete before she can escape her bargains with the Everlast family, and meanwhile war is looming in the country of Elsewhere. Trusting someone—anyone—and revealing her secrets may save her life, but it could also spell doom for generations to come.

So, who to trust?

Prince Bael, Lonnie’s beautiful but dangerous part-time ally.

Prince Scion, the wicked and powerful former heir to the throne.

Prince Gwydion, the brilliant and manipulative healer.

Or, perhaps, a new ally could make themselves known under the cover of darkness.

Once again, I feel thoroughly confused by what I’ve just read. While the writing is an improvement over book 1, and the world building/political intrigue is great, this is really plot heavy and I struggled to finish this.

The bulk of this is Lonnie & Scion on a few side quests, and all of their lengthy, confusing conversations. Their little chats are meant to give us context, history, and set up subsequent plots, but every convo tailspins into the most asinine tangents and then ends with them talking about hating each other.

I can’t decide if I care enough to know about Lonnie’s secrets to continue with this series.

Ive cut off one star solely because of the absence of Bael content.

This book was my most anticipated book this year and it did not dissapoint. It did feel shorter than the first for some reason but great nonetheless .

The main thing that bugs me is all of the scion and lonnie but no bael. I understand that the harem has to be built but it felt unnatural without bael. Also i hope all the secrets are spilled in the next one.

Cant wait for the next one.

I got an arc LFG!

October 23rd THANK GOD!!!

The general storyline is SO good but the romance is very bad. I know controlling assholes is a trope but it’s not even fleshed out how we go from hate to love in point three seconds. It feels more like everyone is just super horny and they’re putting aside their hatred to get off. Also I think this is heading into a very weird dynamic with multiple family members in a relationship with the MC at the same time? I’m going to keep reading the series because I’m invested in the plot but as a huge romance fan, the book would be much better without whatever the fuck the author is doing in that sense

Scion's denial of what is right in front of his face makes him so dumb that he qualifies for himbo status.

Well Done

I am seriously enjoying Lonnie’s journey and I even like Scion despite him locking her away for a year. I’m liking learning their motives and thought processes. There’s so much to unravel here including from Lonnie herself. What is this power she has? Does she have more than one? Is she related to Aisling? Tons of questions and I can’t wait to read more. But this book had less Bael than the previous book. I’m hopeful to see more of Bael and Scion. Also why is Scion being so idk ignorant of what’s going on? It’s weird and I can’t wait for him to get on board.

I am still questioning exactly what Dullahan is doing. I need to know more about Rosey though and what she was doing.

I feel like a total square loser but I'm annoyed I wasn't informed this was a why choose reverse harem romance where actual cousins are sleeping with the same woman. I have tried so hard to like MFM but can't-- especially if there's weird familial complications, that's especially off-putting to me. I was entertained but now I'm annoyed I paid for a sequel. I'm super dumb since it was hinting at multiple mates at once in the last book.

This was my first ARC read! I was so incredibly excited to read book 2!! No spoilers in the review below.

I did re-read book one recently to refresh my memory on the world building in this series. It is very involved, but in the best way possible. I think book 2 brings a lot of ideas and characters together that I wasn’t as invested in before. There are some incredible character arcs and the perspective changes by chapter were well thought out. I think it developed the story line in a way just having one perspective would not. We have all been there for the dreaded perspective change to one of our least favorite characters. Doesn’t happen here!! I cannot wait to see what book 3 brings. Kate King’s world building is by far my favorite of everything I have read in the past few years. She has me hooked and I will be (im)patiently awaiting ARC signup for book 3.

If you would like to read my review *without* spoilers it's on our Instagram, link in bio :)

Going into this series I knew that it was going to be a slow burn and take a while for the harem to form, but I am happy to report that both situations have improved with this book!

**SPOILERS BELOW**

That aside some of the questions I had following the end of book one began to be answered. Light was shed upon Bael's father being unseelie and how his parents were mates so it is possible for mates to be together without the entire bloodline dying off. As well finding out he shifts into a cat explains where he was always disappearing to during the first book, the fact he also defended her as a cat was cute.

This book does mainly focused on Scion and it was fun to see him so in denial about also being Lonnie's mate when the signs are basically slapping him in his face, especially when Bael is full force running forward with his emotions.

I enjoyed seeing Lonnie come into her personality more and stop defining herself by her mothers rules. I have gained more questions though about her powers and origin, it was very interesting to see how her dreams are lining up with the plot so well. It makes me think she is also a seer like Rosie, but then again that would add another ability on top of her fire and ability to summon the afflicted which seems kind of OP.

I can't wait to see where the next book goes as I still have a fair amount of questions, is Lonnie half or full fae because she is starting to exhibit Fae traits? What is Ambrose going to do now that he has the crown? Also is Gwydion going to be a part of the harem because he was more removed this book and hasn't seem to appear in any of Lonnie's dreams?

This is the second book in the adult romantasy series Wilde Fae, and focuses more on the FMCs relationship with Scion. Tropes include a sassy FMC, broody MMCs, why choose, slowburn, touch her and die, fated mates, hidden identities and possessive MMCs. There is some adult content spice and violent scenes.

The Lovely: Still in love with these characters. As I mentioned above, this book focuses more on Scion and we don’t see much of Bael. I didn’t like Scion much at the beginning but he is growing on me. I love that the FMC is an unreliable narrator at best because you never know when she’s purposefully lying or just saying something wrong because she doesn’t know the truth. What is the truth? We get some answers in this book, but there are still so many questions. The mysteries make this so engaging to read.

The Mundane: I missed Bael in this book and am hoping in the next book we get to see the FMC interacting with both MMCs. I also thought some of the FMC’s inner monologues got a bit drawn out but I think that would be helped if she had someone around to talk to.

Rating: 4.5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames

Recommendation: This book had me squealing in delight at the characters and their interactions. I could feel Scion rolling his eyes at the FMC and her indecision around him. This was glorious. The next book is due to be released at the end of March and you can bet I’ll be downloading it at midnight! If you like a bit of mystery and secretive characters, along with a why choose situation, in your epic fantasy, I think you would like this book.

While I really enjoyed the two books in the series, I can’t actually give them great ratings because I kept finding that I was waiting for a plot the whole time. This is definitely a romance with fantasy background and it doesn’t seem like the plot moves along enough on the action side, only on the romance side.

This 500+ page book covers less than 2 months of time in this world. While I enjoyed the world building and detailed backgrounds, I wish this storyline would move a bit faster.

We aren’t even through all the hunts by the end of the second book but it also felt like the author kept forgetting to mention the next ones or just had them as a background aspect instead of a main storyline.

Overall I liked the book and the writing style, but wish the plot moved faster.

I'm loving this series the fartherbwe get into it. I admit that our FMC blisters her way through this and has no concept of ruling, but with her background as we know it, there has been no reason to. I do wish she more readily acknowledged when she was over her head, but that is still a lesson she has not learned.

"Scream loud for me, little monster. Scream so loud that the forest knows you're mine."

I loved getting pulled back into this magical world of generational curses, political intrigue, and the Fae! The world-building in this series is amazing and complex. Thank goodness Kate includes a world guide with a recap of the first book, glossaries, pronunciations, and maps. I wish more authors would do this!

This book is plot-heavy – still a slow burn, but the sexual tension between Lonnie and her two sex-on-a-stick Fae princes is ramped up throughout. It’s a building harem, with all members already introduced in book one, but who will end up with Lonnie in the end, is still up in the air (I have my theories…)

The book is told in muli-pov, with the majority in Lonnie’s POV. I would have loved more from Bael and Scion, though keeping their thoughts close to the chest helped preserve the mystery and secrets.

This series has been so enjoyable; I cannot wait to see what comes next for these enemies-to-lovers.

Genre: Fantasy Romance
Tropes/Features: Enemies to lovers, dark Cinderella story, “human” FMC, Royal Fae MMCs, secrets, lies, generational curse, mates
Narrator: Multiple 1st Person POV, primarily the FMC’s POV
Relationship Type: Why Choose MFM, slow burn, minimal spice
Book Type/Ending: Wilde Fae Book 2, cliffhanger
TW/CW: QR code to CW is available in book

I have missed Lonnie and everyone! This book had me in a grip from the beginning. Lady of the Nightmares picks up after the end of Lords of the Hunt and hits the ground running and doesn't stop. We get to see more of the vast world and how different each area can be.

There's lots of secrets hiding around the world. Everyone knows that secrets could be your one chance at survival. I have been anxious to learn more about each character and I feel like its a web unweaving as we learn more and more. The world and character building is very intricate.

This is a slow burn and a slow build harem. It's also plot heavy, but NEVER boring. I typically do not read high fantasy books because I feel like I can never pronounce the names, or it's so detailed that I can't keep up or I get bored. Wilde Fae is nothing like that for me.

I am on the edge of my seat for book 3 AND the spin off!

I'm in love with this series! Deliciously complicated alpha fae men with a million secrets and a feisty heroine who is trying to discover more about herself and the new society she's been thrust into.

This series has a slow burn why choose romance and it starts to heat up a bit more in book two. We get to know Scion a lot more, and I find him a really interesting character. I love his POV and wish we got more.

Bael is intense, but I love him and we get to know more about him too in this book.

We meet new and exciting characters in this book, which I really enjoyed. The world building by Kate King was done really well. It's so interesting and complex and I'm really loving it.

The ending of this book has me really excited for the next one in this series.

Way too good!

This book is just way too good. Way too good. Seriously needs more hype because this series has me obsessed!

Kate continues to deliver an incredible second book in this series full of continuous world building and further plot development. Whereas Book 1 seemed to focus more on the relationship of Bael and Lonnie and her adjusting to her new role, Book 2 was more focused on Scion and Lonnie.

I devoured every word. I highlighted so many quotes and lines. This book is full of emotion. I enjoyed watching both Scion and Lonnie struggle with their feelings while learning how to work together. And learning more about Ambrose and this prophecy.

This is a seriously underrated romtansy book. More people need to get into this series because it’s just that good.

I will start by saying I LOVED the first book when I read it early this year, and I have been dying for the release of the second in the series since. So much so that I’ve already read it multiple times since and just can’t get enough. I was very lucky to receive an ARC for Lady of the Nightmares, and had high expectations based on how amazing the first book was and how quickly it captivated me.

Let me just say, Kate did not disappoint. She has a way of writing to make you feel completely sucked into the story. The world building to make you fully visualize and feel what they feel. From the start it is tense and will have you on your toes with the twists, tension, violence, and character development is just 🤌🏻. The spice amps up from the first book, in the best ways for all you out there who have been waiting for it.

Thank you Kate for your beautiful brain. This book was truly a treat and I can’t wait to see how the story continues!

I love the continuation of Lonnie's story. There are so many mysteries for her to unravel about her sister, and she has to figure out where and how to find the answers. The one thing that made this book so satisfying was the character growth. Lonnie has lived her entire life hating the fae and living by the rules her mother gave her. But now? She has to trust Bael and even Scion to stay alive. The character growth is not just limited to Scion.

This story is SO cleverly written, but I don't want to give any spoilers. I'll just say that I'm so excited for book 3 and to see how things develop for all of the characters. I already loved Bael, but Scion grew on me a lot in this book ❤️‍🔥!

Captivating story

Yet again another captivating read. I am absolutely loving this series! It is wonder seeing Lonnie grow and become stronger. I am also loving the development of relationships and bonds. So much was revealed and yet there is still so much mystery left. I can't wait to see what's next.

OBSESSED; does not even begin to cover how much I adore this book series, so far. While I absolutely missed one character‘s presence in this book, significantly! I loved getting to experience Scion.

The vibes are: “giggling and kicking my feet“. 😂🥰

My heart is super sad that there are not audiobooks for the last two books yet, but still running to acquire book three!

Really enjoyed the book, I received an ARC and devoured it. I really enjoyed the different points of view chapters. I wish we could have gotten a bit more world building, more of a look into the surroundings and the peoples. If you know what I mean. I also would have wanted a more fleshed out and detailing of Lonnie and Beal's first time, the scene was over too fast for me. It seemed like the last part of the book happened so quickly with not as much detailing as I wanted but I cannot wait for the 3rd book!!! Definitely enjoyed the book very much. Looking forward to more from this Author.

Beautiful continuation. And wonderful read.

Wow. I could not wait for the second book, and it did not disappoint. The wild ride continued beautifully. Not only did Kate King suck you into her amazing world, but the character development has been a wonderful build up. Not to mention the spice that we all love. Bael or Scion can be my book boyfriends anytime 😘. Kate I can not wait for book three and to see where you take Lonnie and the others. Thank you for your creative mind.
