Aggravating series
I love the story line and the characters, BUT -
Books 1-3
Way too many grammar and formatting errors.
People called the incorrect names.
The descriptions are over the top. How many times using way too many words can you describe a burnt body? It’s a word vomit every time a scene is described.
Book 3 - new characters arrive for no reason. They aren’t tied to the main story other than describing in different countries the same death that’s already happened. I didn’t want to skip those chapters, but they are useless. So fellow readers, feel free to skip Rio, Qatar and Paris.
The author needs to whittle the series down. There’s a lot of words that are nothing more than filler.
I’m on the fence as to whether I’ll continue with the series. I’m definitely taking a break

An interesting book about surviving after a global catastrophe. The author has a distinctive style, writing with great detail about everything the characters see, reflect on, plan, and do. At first, this style of so detail descriptions felt unusual to me, but I’ve grown used to it and now truly enjoy it.
After the third book of the series, where our heroes are still making their way home my guess is that this journey will continue until around the sixth book. What makes the story compelling is not just the journey itself, but also the vivid depiction of the post-catastrophe world. The psychology of the characters, and the transformation of society are described very well.

The world of fire still burned brightly in places. Heavy rainfall had damped many of the fires, but
Armed gangs roved much of the fire blackened neighborhoods killing and robbing the survivors. The world is settling into armed camps. Some controlled by remainders of authority trying to wrest back civilization from the ashes. Others were forced labor camps controlled by strongmen running roughshod over groups that scavenged the burned out husks for food and supplies.
The main characters, a resourceful family spread over a long distance trying to reunite at a family farm near East Lancing Michigan. The grandparents watching over and maintaining the small homestead with a few running vehicles and the help of three huge dogs that helped control a few head of cattle and farm animals. The rest of the family were making their way to Michigan from Colorado and Florida. The journey home has been difficult to say the least! But, so far, they're making their way. The world is trying to restore life to the planet, but not without resistance from a few enjoying the chaos.
Great characters and a storyline that promises action at every page! This series is a great read!

Like the prior book, this had a tendency to some editing issues as well as getting bogged down with extraneous details. I was on the fence on the chapters that focused on how the rest of the world handled the catastrophe, but it did feel like adding to an already crowded story with the focus on the Coopers in Michigan, Alice and the kids and James as well as the President and his group. Some of what was happening was fairly interesting, though I don't consider it very believable that given the time since the event, an organized syndicate dedicated to enslaving people would have formed. It did end on an anxious cliffhanger, so I look forward to the next book.

Getting better by the book, James and Alice Burton are still making their way across the country to be reunited fighting just to survive the day . Meanwhile Ryan and Helen Cooper facing mounting danger just to keep the farm and home from people who willing to kill their neighbours just for food , this book also introduces several new characters from across the world showing just how widespread the death and destruction has travelled, genuinely my favourite book of the series so far

Annoying typos with reasonable plot
Would be 4 stars if not for so many typos. I report as much content error as I find, such as spelling, wrong name in scene, etc. Very annoying to interrupt reading to report because this should be done with beta readers. Some of the author's books are better than others. Are typos and lack or spell-check caused from the rush to self-publish by a certain date?

Rollercoaster with a Cliffhanger
Wow! This series is still a masterpiece! Grabbed my interest and has not let go. Our survivors have a rough time in this book and it’s not the last. James and Alice in dire straits toward the end. People can be so evil. But know things will work out! Now please! LOL. This is a great book, characters are believable and you want to know the next step, chapter what happens next. Really enjoying these books. The words flow so well.

Riveting!
Every chapter kept me looking for more and it was delivered. The characters are exceptionally well thought out with all the pitfalls that they endure each and every time they come in contact with other people. Are they friend? or are they foe? The author keeps you wanting to get to the next chapter to find out and definitely, keeps you on your toes.

Survival thriller
James is still making his way home but finds himself in big trouble as he tries to make his way around the Chicago area. Alice and the kids find themselves in Alabama and heading for trouble of their own while her parents try to recover from the attack. We get some insight from different parts of the world.

Another fantastic story in this series. Home invasion, with lots of danger everywhere. Who can figure out what’s going on. This is full of questions as to what could happen next. How will the survivors manage, can they be safe. Ready for more from this talented author.

The Ruination is another brilliant story with some new characters and their struggles in other parts of the world and this just adds more to what's happening everywhere and how people are surviving. Still plenty going on with our main characters. I can't wait for the next book.

Book three has been way more complicated and character filled. The violence of the surviving gangs and the sheer horror of the environmental impacts are worse than living without electricity and clean water!

Great series!
This is a great series! The characters are amazing and the story flows endlessly. You will turn pages faster and faster as you follow along the journeys of victims caught up in a catastrophic calamity that threatens civilization.

My favorite of the first three books. Some new characters and settings are revealed, as well as a few epic confrontations. The plot remains solid with real characters and plausible situations.

I enjoyed the first two books and love the characters. This one was a bit all over the place and skipped pages several times. Hope the next book in ther series is better.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but would have preferred to skip the chapters based on characters in other countries as I didn't feel it added anything to the story.

Although I really liked this book, I feel that the chapters from around the world took me away from the Burtons story. Yes it was interesting to see how others were handling the situation but I feel the book would have been fine without them.
