Love is a dangerous game. And in the quiet town of Whispering Pines we’re just getting warmed up!
Seventeen-year-old Lyndon Hargroves already has his whole future planned. Until he meets Cole, the handsome stranger next door with the unbelievably perfect smile and fiery green eyes, and suddenly his perfectly structured life is turned upside down.
Lyndon’s plans are quickly shaken up as he finds himself falling for a boy who doesn’t feel the same way about him, which should make it easier, but it only makes him want him more.
The boy next door has a twisted past, only Lyndon can’t seem to place what it is and why he’s so guarded. Lyndon has to make a choice. A choice between love and loyalty.
But what do you have to gain when you’re only options leave you heartbroken.

I absolutely loved every second of this book! The way Lyndon cared for Cole and the way Cole truly appreciated it. I can't wait to see Coles side of the story! Myles, you have done such an amazing job with this story! I'm so proud of you and what you have written! I can't wait to see more!
🇬🇧ENG REVIEW
“Lyndon, you can’t live in fear of rejection or heartbreak. Take that fear, run wild with it, do things you wouldn’t normally do, and make bold, daring choices.”
And like this Lyndon found the courage to know…really know… his new neighbour, Cole.
Lyndon and Cole are different pieces of the same heart: one’s so in control of everything and the other one’s so instinctive…
Once you read their story, there is a no back through..all the emotion are right there on the table and you don’t know how to manage all that…
This story is heartbreaking but it’s not all… You can see throuth the pages a little bit of hope, a little hint of awarness…
I really hope that all the “Coles” out of there have the same brave as the author to claim their life and rebuilding their self…
Thanks Cole and Lyndon for your story and your love…I look forward to the sequel!
💕 I love this story. I love how Lyndon slowly chips away at Cole’s secrets. How Cole lets little bits of himself slip through before he shuts down again. How Lyndon is patient and thinks everything through before he speaks or acts. But then sometimes he just loses his control and words just spill out. How Cole tries so hard to keep Lyndon at an arm’s distance, but those moments where he allows himself to be free are just beautiful.
I love Lyndon’s mum and the verdict is still out on Lyndon’s bestie Jess 😂
I keep reminding myself that they are still kids and even sometimes adults rationalize bad behaviour and stay in bad situations.
Tears were shed and my heart was broken. The tender moments shared between them will have to carry me through to the continuation of their story, because I’m not done with them yet.
what a beautifully written book! you are sucked into the story. the mysterious Cole that you want to know more about just like Lyndon and the final story behind him. really heartbreaking, it made me shed tears. it is terrible to know that the author wrote this with his own experience. it's a beautiful love story and I'm curious how this will end so I'm really looking forward to the second book!
OMG THIS BOOK!!!!! Myles Alan is a brand new author that was recommended to me by a booktok friend. Without reading anything more about Beautiful Chaos or the storyline, I instantly downloaded it on Kindle Unlimited and jumped in. And it honestly hooked me from the very start, I don't want to spoil anything for you but damn, the drama in this book is everything you want in a slow burn. Go read this book...LIKE NOW!!!!!
This book totally hooked me! The author's writing style was so laid-back and relatable, it felt like I was right there in the story with the characters. The second half ruined me 😭 so many emotional twists and turns.
A beautiful queer tale of forbidden love that had me drooling for more from the first chapter! Thank you Myles Alan for writing such a wonderfully heartbreaking story. You made it feel like I was observing a very real depiction of a first true love. Devoured this!!! Loved this, gimme more!!!!!
If you are into gay romance with complicated men, devastating secrets, and love that feels impossible until it isn't, Beautiful Chaos is a must-read. I’m already counting down the days until the sequel.
I absolutely devoured Beautiful Chaos. Myles’ writing is deep and captivating that I couldn’t put it down.
The way everything was written felt raw and real, and I got completely pulled into the characters and Lyndon’s helplessness. Nothing felt forced — it all flowed so naturally.
When I finished it, I just sat there for a while staring off into space, trying to take in everything I’d just read.
Beautifully written, emotional, and impossible to stop reading.
This was so good I couldn't put it down. Cole is a mystery and yet he's sweet and god he needs to be loved properly by those in his life. Lyndon is a cute, sweet, over thinking boy and I think just what Cole needs. I wanted to climb into the story and protect them both. I felt the fear, the happiness, the giddy delight at the first kiss. I can't wait to see where these boys end up. Oh and Jess she cracks me up, love her to bits. I will be rushing to buy the next book Myles writes!
I’m not sure how to start this review without sounding overly emotional, which is a sign of a heavy book incoming. And this was fucking HEAVY. Beautiful Chaos absolutely wrecked me… but like, in a quiet, slow, “What the fuck am I reading?” kind of way rather than dramatic sobbing. This isn’t a cute romance. This is emotional self defeat dressed up as first love, and I ate that shit up. We follow Lyndon, who starts off as your typical good kid with a plan, and then proceeds to throw that plan directly into the fire the second Cole enters his life. And Cole? Oh, Cole is… a problem. A beautiful, broken, emotionally unavailable problem with just enough softness to keep you hooked. Their relationship is intense, messy, and honestly kind of painful to read at times. Not because it’s badly written, but because it feels real. The push and pull, the moments where you think “okay, maybe this will work,” followed immediately by “oh… Well... shit. Maybe not. ” What really hit me was how the book handles trauma. Cole isn’t ‘mysterious’ in a romanticised way. He’s guarded, inconsistent, and shaped by things no one should have to go through. And Lyndon… he tries so hard to be the one who fixes it. Which is both heartbreaking and incredibly frustrating, because you can see from a mile away that love alone isn’t going to save anyone here. There’s also this constant sense of tension running through the whole story. You know something is wrong. You know it’s going to blow up. And yet you keep reading, hoping (like an idiot) that maybe it won’t. /it does. The ending does leave you on a cliffhanger, but this book will make you want to pick up the next one. Would I recommend it? Yes. Will this book make you feel like your heart was ripped out of your body and someone just shat all over it? Also Yes. Please remember to read the trigger warnings and I invite you to be traumatised with me.
This is a neighbours to more romance, featuring Lyndon and Cole, and is book one in the Chaos & Lies novel series.
When Lyndon meets Cole, the mysterious boy next door, his carefully planned future starts to crumble when he is drawn into Cole’s secrets and his own growing feelings.
This is a beautiful story about coming or age, first love and heartbreak. There is great chemistry between Lyndon and Cole and their journey from friends to more is raw and emotional. There are secrets and angst and it ends of a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for book two.
Congrats Myles on your debut novel, it was wonderful - I’m hooked.
Things to expect in this book are: Book 1 in series MM romance Check CW Single POV Slow burn & angst Small town Neighbours to more Coming of age First love Hurt / Comfort Abusive parents Grieving loss of boyfriend Both love books Virgin MC Camping Break up Mystery Cliffhanger
Lyndon spots a green eyed boy across the room on New Year’s Eve and from that moment he can’t stop thinking about Cole. To Lyndon’s surprise Cole and his family move in across the street and the two start spending time together but there is something not quite right. Lyndon notices bruises on Cole and after a drinking game goes awry, and Lyndon ends up sleeping over, he overhears an argument and things become a little clearer. Cole and Lyndon are determined to be together, but will their relationship put their lives in danger, will history repeat itself? This book is so immersive, the author does a great job of creating vivid imagery so you can almost watch the scenes in your head as you read. The main characters are 17, so it’s important to remember that their emotions and decisions in this book come from a place of naivety and youth.
Beautiful Chaos grabbed me from page one and did not let go. Myles Alan has crafted a dark, slow-burn M/M romance that is equal parts angsty, tender, and downright addictive.
The chemistry between the characters crackles through every scene, it's messy, it's intense, and it feels so real. The way their connection grows through guarded glances, sharp words, and stolen moments had my heart in a vice grip.
Beautiful Chaos indeed. The realistic portrayal of first love, falling hard (fast), and believing love will conquer all the fears and dangers that stand in the way. I look forward to reading the second book in the series, and hopefully seeing more of the side characters that I loved and need more of.
I think I would’ve enjoyed this more if there was more character development and more of a story. The emotional relationship development was really good but it almost felt like nothing happened, like the book was about their conversations and how they saw each other but I wanted more. I wanted to know more about Cole’s family.
A lot happened in their relationship but not much else.
Beautiful and chaotic are the perfect words to describe it.
That last chapter gave me all the emotions.
My favourite quote:
“No one has ever pushed me the way you do, and I don’t know whether that excites me or scares the absolute shit out of me. But I can’t wait to find out.”
E-mot-ion-al. Like… actually emotional. @themylesalan grabbed my heart, shook it around, and then politely handed it back.
I went in expecting a sweet small-town romance with a little mystery and instead got ALL the feels — longing, hope, tension, trauma, heartbreak, and that quiet ache that lingers after you close the book.
Lyndon is instantly root-worthy. He has his life planned, his future mapped out, and then Cole moves in next door with his perfect smile, guarded energy, and mysterious past — and suddenly everything feels complicated in the best and worst ways.
Watching Lyndon fall for someone who can’t fully meet him there? Painful. Soft. Beautiful. For Lyndon, it’s first love. For Cole, it’s unexpected love — the kind that sneaks in when you’re not ready. Both fall fast and hard, and the emotional pull had me flipping pages.
Please note: off-page physical abuse by a parent plays a key role in Cole’s story. Take care of yourself if this may be triggering for you. ♥️
This book is such a raw and honest exploration of love, finding yourself, and what it means to care for someone who doesn’t believe they’re worthy of it. There are heavier moments and darker themes throughout, but they’re handled with so much depth and purpose and that really should be admired. The way Myles has written Lyndon and Cole was beautifully done.
The way this story unfolds quietly powerful, emotional, and completely is beautiful. It’s not just a love story about a boy falling for “the boy next door” it is a story of healing, woven into the pages. Thank you Myles for sharing your boys with the world and a part of your soul with them.
Also im very impatiently waiting for Beautiful Dead, because that ending?! How could you lol 😜
