This story started with events happening during a Halloween party intended to be the party of the century for Sandy Tillman. The event turned out to be considerably more involved and launched her into a complex series of misadventures including a near assault interrupted by a double murder she did not commit. She gets blamed for it and indicted for second-degree murder…never mind that an entity from another dimension pulled the trigger. Never mind the fire she started that burned her best friend’s estate to the ground. Never mind traveling back in time to retrieve another version of “Mirror Mirror” to replace the one lost in the fire. Never mind that a different timeline meant being dropped into a parallel universe where nothing was as it seemed. Never mind a narrow escape through a portal from the county jail moments before going to the state prison for 15 years. If only she had not picked up that damn book “Mirror Mirror.” If only she had not fallen into that place you fall into when traveling through time. We are left wondering what comes next for Sandy when she finds herself involved in a relationship with an entity she never intended to have. If only she had not picked up that damn book.

It's been days and I am still thinking of this book, that's probably why it's taken me so long to write my thoughts down. I loved the unreliability of the narrators, It makes you question yourself while reading. And the different POVs added to the already mysterious and creepy wibe was mind blowing. The writing style was easy to read and original and the plot was absolutely mind bending, twisty and unpredictable. The setting was descriptive which help me imagine the characters and places.
This is the first book I have read from this auther and I really enjoy the writing. I feel like the action and pace was well done. I look forward to read more from the author.
Despite being labeled as the first fiction book author Gary G. Wise wrote, it reads like that of a seasoned veteran. “Mirror Mirror” begins as all great horror stories do, with two female roommates hoping to throw an epic party at a dilapidated mansion.
Sandy was looking forward to the Halloween party she and Mel had been planning for months, but the threats from Phillip and his friend Wil were dampening her mood. Having narrowly escaped a bathroom assault she wasn’t keen on ever seeing them again. But the Hawthorne House estate, willed to Mel from her grandfather, was the perfect scary setting to throw their party and invites had already been sent. Avoiding the library where her grandfather was suspiciously found dead with a hole seared through his chest, Sandy took charge of exploring the first floor while Mel went upstairs in preparation for Halloween. However, as Sandy pulled the book Mirror Mirror from the shelf she unlocked a secret room, housing just a chair and a mirror. The series of events that occur as a result of finding this room set the trajectory of this read.
Having read Wise’s later work it is clear his grip on science fiction runs deep. From speaking through the mind, to exploring new dimensions, bonding with energy forms, and possessing great powers, “Mirror Mirror” is the spine-chilling foundation of Wise’s extraordinary works. Playing with string theory, opening our minds beyond the 3D world we see, and injecting a bit of horror in this read only further solidifies the adept ability of Wise to educate, embrace, and entertain readers.
“Mirror Mirror” houses a profound plot, encompassing elements of science fiction, and suspense as we evade the realities playing out around us as we plunge into another great read from Gary G. Wise.

I’m new here on Goodreads, and Mirror Mirror is one of the first books I picked up after seeing it introduced by Clara Whitmore through her book club emails. I did not expect a story like this. The mix of fear, mystery, and the way the mirror almost feels alive pulled me in fast. I kept pausing to catch my breath because the tension sneaks up on you in quiet moments, not loud ones.
Since I am still figuring out how to write reviews, I will just say this. The book surprised me in the best way. It felt eerie, emotional, and a little too real at times. Clara’s recommendation made me curious, and now I get why she shared it. I would not have found this story without her.
I discovered Mirror Mirror through Clara Whitmore’s book club network, and I’m so glad I did. What starts as a simple haunted house story turns into a gripping exploration of reflection, morality, and the danger of our own thoughts. The mirror’s presence is chilling, but the real tension comes from watching Sandy question herself, her faith, and her sanity.
Clara’s recommendation was spot on this book doesn’t just entertain, it unsettles you in the best way. It’s haunting, smart, and unforgettable.

This story pulls readers into a chaotic yet intriguing journey where nothing stays predictable for long. What begins as a Halloween celebration quickly spirals into a layered narrative of mystery, alternate realities, and supernatural interference. Sandy Tillman is a compelling protagonist caught between forces beyond her control, and her misadventures keep the tension high. The blend of crime, time travel, and otherworldly elements creates a unique reading experience that leaves you questioning what’s real and what’s not.
From the very first event, the story wastes no time plunging into suspense. The pacing is fast, and the stakes are constantly rising, wrongful accusations, unexplained murders, and reality-bending twists all collide in unexpected ways. Sandy’s situation feels increasingly impossible, yet that’s what makes the story gripping. The narrative keeps you hooked by layering mystery upon mystery, making it hard to predict what will happen next.
What stands out most in this story is its ambitious concept. The idea of blending parallel universes, time travel, and supernatural entities into a crime, driven plot is handled with creativity. The “Mirror Mirror” element acts as a fascinating anchor, connecting the chaos into a central thread. Readers who enjoy stories that challenge perception and explore “what if” scenarios will find this especially engaging.
Sandy Tillman’s journey is both intense and disorienting, which makes her a relatable figure despite the extraordinary circumstances. She’s not just dealing with external chaos but also the emotional weight of being blamed for something she didn’t do. Her resilience in the face of confusion, danger, and shifting realities gives the story a strong emotional core that balances the more fantastical elements.
This book gave me chills in the best way. The slow unraveling of the mystery behind the mirror had me flipping pages late into the night. Sandy’s fear feels real, her choices raw, and the tension builds until you can’t look away. The blend of psychological suspense and supernatural energy is spot-on.
I’m still getting used to Goodreads, but I wanted to leave a review because Mirror Mirror caught me off guard in the best way. Clara Whitmore introduced it through her book club update, and I decided to give it a try. The story feels creepy, tense, and personal all at once. The mirror scenes made my skin crawl, and Sandy’s reactions felt so real. I’m glad this was one of my first reads here.
Since I’m new on Goodreads, I wasn’t sure how to write this, but Mirror Mirror deserves a comment. Clara Whitmore shared it in her book club list, and I picked it up out of curiosity. The atmosphere is eerie, the pacing tight, and the mystery around the mirror hooked me fast. It’s a strong read, especially for someone just starting to explore horror again.
Reading Mirror Mirror feels like watching a horror film that’s too smart to rely on jump scares. It’s about guilt, reflection, and what happens when your own thoughts become dangerous. The writing makes every shadow feel alive. I’m obsessed.
I joined this read thinking it was a ghost story, but it’s deeper than that. It’s about power, control, and the moral weight of our choices. Sandy’s connection to the mirror made me question what “righteous” even means. Dark, smart, and thought-provoking.
This story plays with reality in the most terrifying way. The idea that reflection can reveal your truest self maybe even destroy you is haunting. The last few chapters left me stunned. I’m still not sure if I’m more scared of the mirror or what it showed me about human nature.
