What happens when you blow the lid on a financial scam involving playboy businessmen, the prime minister of a country, and the laundering of billions of dollars? For Xavier Justo, it meant being thrown in a sordid Thai prison as the mother of all cover-ups swung into action. For his wife Laura, left alone with their infant son, it meant finding the courage to fight intimidation, manipulation and malicious lies.
Rendezvous with Injustice is an account of the 1MDB scandal that focuses on the real human cost to the people who dared to expose it. It’s a story that involves financial chicanery, crooked lawyers, greed, decadence and even a fake Scotland Yard detective. Ultimately, though, it’s a cry for truth and justice — and a testament to human resilience and tenacity .
Foreword by Mahathir Mohamad, former Prime Minister of Malaysia
“An astonishing first-hand and no-frills account of both human greed and human resilience, Rendezvous with Injustice is also a beautiful love story.” – Florence de Changy, author of ‘The Disappearing The Impossible case of MH370’
“A compelling story of courage and perseverance in the face of threats and intimidation by those hoping to prevent it from being told.” – John Kucera, former US federal prosecutor

“ A captivating first-hand account from the whistleblower in the world's largest corruption case.” – Daniel Eriksson, CEO of Transparency International
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Laura Justo is also half Scottish from her mother. She is a true world traveler and adventurous, she already lived in the UK, Thailand, Malaysia, and Spain, where she lives since 2020 with her husband and son of eight.
Passionate about nature, cooking, surfing, and cars, she left banking in Geneva before living and traveling around the world with her husband to be now a certified English teacher in business and finance.
Described by her beloved husband as “a lioness with the biggest heart, “ she decided to write a book about their true touching and terrible ordeal with her husband Xavier Justo as co-author.
Her book “Rendezvous with injustice” is a unique and exclusive kind of book. As the chapters are written alternatively by a husband and wife fighting for their lives alone against some of the most powerful people in this world. It is one international human true story, lived in the same moments but completely differently by the authors. It is an authentic book where human vulnerability, pain, and human intuition for survival are written at their boldest.
In “Rendezvous with injustice”, you will read the true scapegoating of an innocent man, a whistle-blower that was thrown in a Thai jail for more than one and a half years under false charges to be muzzled, his wife, a young mother fighting for him, for justice, along with her son, at the mercy of international criminals.
The book has just been released on Amazon: https://7qen.short.gy/KHR1x3 and has already received incredible reviews and endorsements from several well-known newspapers and reporters :
“A riveting tale of love, betrayal, greed, and fraud that takes the reader from London high-life to a Thai jail via Venezuela and Cannes. — Randeep Ramesh, The Guardian
"Xavier and Laura worked together to write this amazing book and it's full of great anecdotes from their first-hand experience of this strand of the scandal. What's especially great about it is the changing perspectives on the events from Xavier to Laura"

Rendezvous with Injustice is a remarkable book, weaving a fascinating and gripping tale of international crime and corruption, with the heart-wrenching love story of this young family’s desperate struggle to gain freedom and justice for heroic whistle-blower Xavier Justo. This thrilling tale contrasts the luxury hotel suites, superyachts, sports cars and embezzled billions of the crooked businessmen, corrupt officials, and their associated cast of wicked henchmen, with the appalling filth, squalor, and privations of the miserable, overcrowded prison conditions imposed upon Justo.
Told affectingly in alternating chapters from Xavier and Laura, the book, unfolds the drama from each perspective, knitting together their lives though separated by thousands of miles. Their stories are told with remarkable honesty and openness, mixing the machinations and manipulations of the real criminals and corrupt politicians only interested in protecting their stolen fortunes, with the determined struggle of a young family that just wants to be together.
How the couple managed to survive as individuals, and how their marriage endured such immense pressure, is a real testament to their determination to get justice for Xavier, accountability for the crooks and corrupt politicians, and the enduring strength of their love for each other and their young son.
Rendezvous with Injustice delves behind the international media headlines of the ongoing 1MDB scandal, revealing the very human story at its heart: this is an essential read.
Very interesting read on how a family's life gets turned upside down after they blow the whistle on one of the largest financial scandals. The husband\wife combo of authors was a very interesting concept, where Xavier writes one chapter from his perspective on certain events and the next chapter is written by Laura which covers her perspective of the experience. There is a whole lot of frustration that is transferred to the reader, and they did a great job in engaging you in their challenges to clear their name and reunite as a family. One part that irked me was the lavish lifestyle they lived working for this criminal organization but at the same time, tried to show that they were suffering. (travelling the world, fancy cars, owned a resort, multiple properties, etc) and also the horrible timing they seemed to put themselves in (getting involved with con-artists, staying in Thailand, going back to KL, lending money they needed themselves, etc). Overall a good overview of the whole 1MDB scandal that caused an international scandal. I am hoping that those involved will receive the punishment they deserve, and I wish the Justo family all the best in their quest for justice and going back to living a normal life.
