Prayer Vol. 3

Rate this book
This third volume in the Prayer series is the largest yet with 108 pages of devotions, prayers and a morning liturgy to be prayed alone, in your families and communities.

“This volume is about meeting God in disruption; it’s about the joy of discovering Him, and realising Him with fresh eyes, in the awkward and difficult spaces. It’s a love poem to the resurrection from the pressure of the cross.

It’s a liturgy of renewal via personal awareness and healing.”

Strahan’s poetry and meditations always strike a deep chord within me. They are quiet prayers, intricate but simple, deeply personal yet saturated with truth for every age. I really hope these volumes continue, they have been so formative for me and have given language to many things I couldn’t articulate myself.

Once again, the words of Coleman prove to be sown in the soil of personal experience, and bring a harvest of new life in the lives of his readers.

What I loved about this volume was that Coleman led his audience to the God of process and time - a God of presentness and power, who steps into our skin, shares our suffering, and pulls our very experience into God’s divine love.

Our hurts, confusions, distractions and disruptions are waiting to also be filled with God, for that is the very place Jesus promised to meet us most vulnerably, stripped of any pre-tense or pride, any strength or talent - simply us, the throes of life, and God.

What beauty awaits us?

The beauty of unknowing, of dependence and renewed curiosity.
The beauty of an uncertain tomorrow, today, even now.
The beauty of death, and the beauty of life.
The beauty of tragedy, and the beauty of healing.
Because beauty is beholden to the communer’s eyes;
And friend, there is beauty in everything.

This volume is a beautiful, pocket-sized collection of poems that read like honest, heartfelt prayers for the follower of Jesus in every season of disciple-life. I was blessed by reading the poetry slowly and soaking in the truths during my quiet times with Jesus or when I needed a reminder of what being His follower means. I'm thankful for the heart and intentionality the poet poured into this volume, and I'm sure I'll return to this again when I need short, simple, yet deep reminders of Truth!

This has been such a source of wisdom, insight and surprising grace! The prayers have helped put into words, so often, what I’m experiencing and wondering on. I’ve carried it around with me, and have found it a joy to pray the prayers with and for others! Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved reading the prayer volumes. I read them slowly nearly night, returning, scribbling, meditating and attempted to memorize some verses. Honestly I’ll miss reading them now that I’m all done.

Beautiful daily prayers and liturgies that I’ve been sitting with over the past 4 months. Excited to start prayer volume 2!
