This was really not good 💀

The characters were one-dimensional. The plot was predictable and just thrown in for torture scenes basically. The love was instant and weird.

I don't really have anything to say about the characters because they were just so flat. Like no quirks or anything. I don't even know how to describe them because despite reading a 300 page book about them I don't even know them.

I predicted the mole the first time they were mentioned. The plot was just thrown in there so Cade could be tortured. Honestly, like no foreshadowing and the info was just randomly handed to them throughout the book. Like the queen's right hand girl randomly spouted info that I feel like the queen (who is 100+ years old) should have already known or have already been told.
I didn't know where the book was gonna go at all because again, no foreshadowing. The attack just started and that was that.

And yeah, the love... Did not feel or understand. There was an "instant feeling" but that wasn't even really written well because 1) it wasn't written in the right pov imo and 2) was barely mentioned or actually explained?? Then they had interactions but they were short. Like it was a few minute convo and yeah they did interact a bit, but talking for a few minutes about ten times with someone does not equal love.

Hoping the 2nd & 3rd book are better cause those are the ones the author is constantly promoting on TikTok, but we shall seeeeeeeee

the fact people actually call this book enemies to lovers and slow burn irrationally enrages me. enough with the lies, i feel deceived.

overall, it read very very YA. the plot was weak/all over the place and there was a lot more telling than showing iykwim. you could also see the plot twist from a mile away. the romance was rushed and instalove-ish, which i hate. like they literally made eye contact one time and bam, they’re lusting after each other. not my thang.

i hated the fmc, deianira. i’m not even going to get into it about deianira being a crazy jealous morally shitty hypocrite fmc cause honestly half the book men i simp for are like this (and that would make me the hypocrite), so i’m going to be a good girls girl and say slay. i will say this though, she just didn’t deserve cade. he tied her shoes for her and she was annoyed. like ma’am, i’ll take him if he bothers you so much.

lia, devin, and cassian were the saving grace of this book. i liked cade, especially at the start when he sacrificed himself for his brother and the way he was with lia. but there wasn’t a lot of depth or development going on there. he had a lot of potential but instead was just turned into a love sick puppy.

I only read this one because I wanted to read the 2nd (thanks Booktok) but I am not mad about it AT ALL. It was perfect, very well written, the characters have beautiful depth. I fell in love with Deianira about 30 pages in and did not get over it. Not gonna lie though, I mostly was looking for any crumbs of Salem because she’s my #1 and I already knew book 2 was about her (and I got more than crumbs, she’s incredible I love her so much omg). Anyway, it would have been a favorite of mine if book 2 wasn’t infinitely better (but that’s only because Salem is my soulmate and I’m biased). This series needs more hype (AND I NEED BOOK THREE).

DNF at 50%

It’s established at the start of the story that the world outside the dome is brutal and harsh, lots of poverty etc. and that this is the fault of the near immortal ruler Deianira, a queen that is cruel and strict. Essentially, there is a two-tier society where those in the dome have rights, such as the right to a trial, and those outside the dome don’t.

Whilst this is an interesting premise, it also meant I had 0% support for Deianira brutally executing two young thieves at the start of the story. Theo never gets to say goodbye to his mother he worries about, he just gets a broken neck. Bron dies terrified and pleading as Deianira tears his heart out. My dislike of her character only got worse as it was revealed that she is a hypocrite that ignores the laws when and as suits her. As the main female protagonist and love interest of the story I wanted to like her, but I couldn’t.

This leads me into the romance between Deianira and Cade, which arises very quickly and with no apparent reason. The two have approximately one conversation before they start groping and kissing in hallways, feeling ‘drawn’ together. What’s especially confusing about this is Cade is established as a righteous and moral character, going out of his way to help others, yet he is able to easily overlook Deianira’s awful actions.

As I already said, I don’t like Deianira’s character, but it seemed with the romance the author was deliberately trying to make her petty and annoying. Deianira’s jealous thoughts over Olivia (for smiling) and later Lia (for hugging) Cade, sounded ridiculous.

Finally, let’s get into the planned revolution which is where I gave up with this book. Can anyone please explain to me why Cade, his brother and his best friend, all of which have lived outside the dome, in harsh conditions and with near no rights, suddenly give away information to help the Queen? Especially when the brother was friends with the two executed thieves. I was expecting this book to take the direction of a revolution and instead it went in the opposite direction to save the elites in the dome.

I might skim the end of the book to find out if the guy I suspect is the insider helping with the revolution is the guy I think it is. Hopefully not, because that would be so obvious and another mark against this book.

Booktok had me running to get this book but I have to say that I ended up being a little bit disappointed (it still was a good read).
The story in itself is actually a really good idea (kind of similar to the plot in Red Queen, but we'll look over that for the time being). The characters were likeable and their pasts made them interesting to read about.
But in my opinion the book was rushed in several aspects.
1. The plot: from one page to the next things that should require more time to figure out (to make things interesting) were explained and the characters as well as the readers were just supposed to accept things. SPOILERS AHEAD!!! like the part were Lia finds her mother ... you mean that in a few hours (at most) she figured out who her mother was, had a decent conversation with her, resolved all of her doubts. etc. ..... I don't buy it. That was such a good storyline, but it was incredibly rushed and it took away the joy and thrill of finding out with her.
2. Character development: Since the book was not really long (249 pages) the multiple characters did not get the time they deserved to build their character development. You could say that there were six important characters that had good background storie and that acted WAY different in the first chapters compared to the last ones but the reader never gets a real explanation as to why. Things just happen, conversations (that made no sense on the time that they were held) took place, and we were just supposed to accept it. Also there was Olivia, which appeared two times and then we never hear about her again ... Take for example Cassian. His character is one that I truly would have loved to be expanded on more. He is internally a mess and his relations to the other characters make somewhat of sense (again, it would be better if they got more time to explain to the reader how they got to certain emotional points, but okay) but a lot of his actions are simply not aligned with the character development point he is supposed to be in. He just seems to skip like a million steps and it ends up feeling rushed af. SPOILER AHEAD!!!!! like him killing his father .... I know that he saw the state Cade was in and everything but he went from "I will take my fathers side no matter what" to "my father is actually an asshat" to "I have to kill my father" with ABSOLUTELY no explanation. We are just supposed to take it. And that does't sit right with me. He as a character and we as the readers deserved and needed maybe a few more scenes where his inner battles were explained a little bit more just so everything could make sense.
3. The relations between characters: I really like Cade and Deianira, but their relationship was RUSHED to no end. How in the world did they end up having such a close relation in only a few chapters??? she was supposed to be icy and cold and not let anyone in (and yes, I know, that was why Cade was so special, because he got her to come out of her shell so quickly, but please..... in a few chapters..?!?!?!). Like I said before, it is thrilling to read how the characters develop the feelings for each other, and this just didn't do it for me. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!! the scene with the first kiss... I don't think I have to say anything else. Please. That made absolutely cero sense to me.
And on a less romantic note, take Cassian and Cade. Their relation was one I truly loved but they had no time to talk things out. They just went from: I don't really like you and we have a strained relationship to let's talk about our feelings like we do this all the time.

Now that I got that out hahahaha I really want to stress, that it wasn't a bad read. I really enjoyed a lot of the scenes and liked the characters and the plot was, as mentioned before, a really good idea in my opinion. Yes, there were some lacks here and there, but if you want to pick up a book to just have a good time with, this is definitely not a bad option!

Okay I was expecting to love this book but I didn’t. I didn’t necessarily hate it but I also didn’t like it. The thing I didn’t like was the main character Deianira. I hated her. I hated her more with Cade. They didn’t make sense to me at all. Maybe it was bc it was love at first sight? I don’t know. The whole time they were together, I was wondering what they like about each other other then the fact Cade finds her beautiful. I cringed at a lot of the scenes that they were together, especially (spoiler alert) when he was compelled.

The reason I gave this 2 stars and not 1 was because I loved Cade. I loved his character, he’s sweet. I also adored Cassian. Although I love love LOVE Lia. She made the book so worth it. She kept me reading. I wanted more of her. She was everything Deianira was supposed to be. Sassy, brave, badass, brilliant and way more. Really wanted more of her.

Deianira was just plain annoying and was trying too hard. She got on my nerves.

The plot was very fast-paced, which I liked! It was predictable but that’s okay.

The other characters seemed non-important and unnecessary, for example, Salem. I didn’t mind her, but I didn’t even pay attention to her at all.

I like Lia and Cassian. They’re cute. I was bummed when I found out he’s going to be with Salem. Also what’s the deal with characters falling in love all of the sudden. Cassian barely had spoken two full sentences to Salem and was already falling for her??

Anyways, I give this just barely two stars.

Every time someone spoke in this book I wanted to die. Also the main characters were attracted to each other for absolutely no reason they were both so vanilla. Actually no, that’s an insult to vanilla.

This book was absolutely awful and I'm enraged. (spoilers included)

The rage I felt while reading this book is absolutely astounding. From the characters to the awful writing to the lack of depth, the entire thing was just absolutely terrible. I almost dnf'd at 30% but told myself this could be a quick read. However, this took me 4 days to get through -- 4 days of pain.

Brother of the King Consort (book 2) has been on my tbr for the longest time, to the point where I forgot why I even have it there to begin with, so I figured I’d start with the first book in the series. I had this added to my tbr because I first saw scenes from the second book and was intrigued. However, time and time again, booktok leads me astray. I actually had such high hopes for the second book but told myself that maybe I should read the first book so that I have necessary backstory and world-building.

LIES. There is not a LICK of world-building in this entire book!! I actually had to pause to make note of just the amount of times I was confused because there was no sort of scene-setting or anything!!

To begin:
I didn’t like how I was quite literally thrown into this book. The first chapter made it feel like I was missing an entire story! The characters were barely introduced, I have no sense of the world-building or what this world looks/feels like/how it operates, and I didn’t have any opening descriptions of what Cade and Lia look like. I didn’t know what to even visualize. Chapter 5 is when the queen is introduced and there is not a single description of what she looks like either?? Also, they GLOSSED over the fact that apparently people with gifts age slower, so the queen is 132 years old??? Imma need a bit more explaining on all of that because huh?? How does this universe work?? And Cade is 24??? huh??

Nothing is explained. Theres warlocks, and empaths, and seers (and apparently more types), and as soon as one is introduced, there is no sort of unpacking of what exactly that means, what that person can do, how they can do it, and how they came to be that way. There also doesn't seem to be a limit to anyone's powers? As soon as it's convenient, someone can just do something because of their gifts, and it's just so obviously an easy way to move the plot along.

Things are barely described (I've been saying this a lot but I cannot stress the absolute lack of descriptions!!!). Cade wasn’t given a description until Deia saw him for the first time, and Deia didn’t get a description until Cade saw her for the first time —> it was SO hard to picture these people’s fits and features because the author neglected to do so for everyone! Not to mention, not a single room is described. It will switch between pov's but they don't say where the characters are, what they're doing before we've been dropped into the scene, etc. Not to mention, switching pov's a billion times WITHIN the chapter was so exhausting bro. Like can one just EXIST without the other for a little bit?

ALSO, insta love??? TAKE ME NOW, I HATE INSTA LOVE WHO WAS GOING TO WARN ME. YOU PEOPLE ARE LIARS YOU TOLD ME ENEMIES TO LOVERS, SLOW BURN, AND YOU LIED.

A lot of the actual world-building was done in 2 paragraphs IN THE EPILOGUE by the way. I'm livid. The scene building was awful, I just cannot get over it. For example, the scene where Cade is about to be executed with Bron and Theo. It felt like that entire scene happened in silence. However, one of the last lines of that scene is that there’s a whole crowd there watching, and they’re murmuring and talking, and when Cade is spared without a word, there’s notable displeasure and shouting from the crowd. It felt like no one was even there?? It didn’t feel like that scene was chaotic and that people were watching?? Nothing was ever said??

The Prima Act was never explained - wtf is it. The Prima Ball was never explained - wtf is it? Deia doesn't give two shits about her kingdom during the final battle and only cares about Cade - why does she think she's a good queen again? We have no sense of life inside the Dome either - this whole story was just used as a way to get Deia and Cade together. Not to mention, how are the people outside the Dome even surviving? Am I supposed to sympathize with Deia? On the one hand, these people on the outside want a better life so I'm alllllll for their cause because literally Deia said herself that she doesn't think about the people on the outside as apart of her kingdom, only the people on the inside. She only FLEETINGLY comments, "huh, maybe they should also be included" ONLY when Cade makes a comment, like 3/4 into the story. I'm on the rebellion's side!! On the other hand, Jude was the one who was trying to overthrow her, and while he was rallying the rebellion, he wasn't actually on their side either. He just wanted an army to kill Deia - he ALSO didn't care about the rebellion??? Wtf???

On the topic of Jude (her uncle): the moment Jude's character was introduced (pg 30 something), I KID YOU NOT, I made a note that he was going to be the real villain. And I was right - who's surprised?

This book is also the WORST case of telling and not showing that I have ever seen. We are told literally EVERYTHING. There is not a single foreshadow. The author must think we're all stupid because we weren't given ANYTHING to think about ourselves and the characters never have to work for anything! One second, Deia is told that seers (or whatever the fuck powers Salem has) can remove memories, but if those memories aren't returned, then the person begins to have headaches and flashbacks. I kid you not, like two SENTENCES later, Deia is like huh, I've been having headaches and flashbacks... someone must have removed my memories! Girl can we have a forshadow moment PLEASE. Similarly, Cade and Deia are in a room together, giving no chemistry, and the author writes that there's tension in the room. WHERE? They've had one interaction? Cade get's hurt and a female medic tends to his wounds. Deia watches the interaction on a hidden camera (girl you're the fucking queen, can you STAND UP) and Cade gives the medic a smile and suddenly we're told Deia is jealous? It's a simple interaction? Not to mention, this medic only showed up in a scene to fuel jealousy in Deia -- I hate that so much.

I have no clue what the castle looks like but apparently there's a cafeteria that everyone - prisoners, guests, staff, the queen, all eat -- are we in a highschool?

The relationships:
Cade and Lia: tolerable. Lia was a poorly written character (they all were) but her and Devin were the saving graces of this book, mostly Devin. Lia did whatever the fuck she wanted and it often didn't make sense because her character was so poorly developed. Her finding her birth mother was so out of left field because other than being told a thousand times that she's an orphan, she never once has the urge to find out about her birth mom until it serves the plot. Her friendship with Cade is nice but also poorly developed, and Deia got on my fucking nerves when Lia hugged Cade and she instantly thought they were dating.
Lia and Cassian: should've been the couple we're rooting for. I already know that he gets with Salem in the second book (which makes me not even want to read the second book in the first place, which is annoying because I SUFFERED through this book with the goal of getting to the second). I don't understand this at all, but it was also love at first sight; so obvious and it didn't make a lick of sense, but Lia and Cassian carried.
Devin and Cade: Devin was hands down the best character (even though he was very wattpad-comic-relief-coded). The author should've done more to develop a brother-type relationship between them, but we were only TOLD that suddenly Cade felt like Devin was a younger brother to him. Can we please SEE that and come to that conclusion ourselves?
Deia and Cade: i was not rooting for them AT ALL. I'm too enraged to even go into it yall don't understand.
Cade and Cassian: by far the most awful development ever. Cade grew up with their dad (Drake) being physically abusive, and based on Cassian sharing the same ideologies as their father, we're meant to believe that the father treated Cassian better. Okay, sure. I would have loved to know how Cassian viewed their father when apparently he was well aware that Cade was physically abused, but I guess didn't care, and still thought the world of Drake? And then he gets drunk, Lia finds him, and Lia tells him "your dad emotionally abused you. it wasn't physcial like with Cade, but you both were abused" and he just accepts it?? There was noo sort of grapple with his conflicting beliefs! So when him and Cade reunite, they're just all buddy-buddy just like that?
Cassian and Drake (dad): again, I would have loveddd to see the conviction in Cassian!!! On the one hand he has his dad, who raised him (apparently better than Cade) and is the backbone of everything he believes, and on the other hand he very easily accepted the very people he hated (those with gifts) without much struggle. Oh, there's a warlock in front of me? Cool beans. We're TOLD that there's such a stigma- that outsiders have such negative views of insiders, but we're not told WHAT the stigma's are or what Cassian exactly believes. Does he think insiders are the enemy just because daddy said so? tf? I felt absolutely nothing.

This book is awful. I fr cannot remember why I wanted to read the second book. Am I going to try a few chapters? LOLLLL probably, because apparently that one is "SIGNIFICANTLY better" than this. I fucking hope so.

Tiktok did it’s thing again and I fell for it… AGAIN!

My biggest issue with the book is the world building. I genuinely didn’t know if they were in the past, present or futur times. I thought it was medieval times bc the edit I saw on tiktok involved horses as a mode of transportation so I was prepared for a like throne of glass/ six of crow typa fantasy world.

But then 3 chapters into the book they’re talking about like body cam footages, and surveillance cameras and I’m like oh so present time. But then they’ll be using words like "taverns", "labor", expressions like "oh my Gods", hunting for food is a common practice, the mmc has never seen ice skates in his life and then few chapters later talking about holograms as if they’re normal thing to use in their world and also not one time has a phone being used in this book so it’s really hard to grasp the timeline.

It’s a fantasy romance, but we are really not explained anything about the fantasy elements until literally the epilogue. I would have loved a glossary at the beginning with idk maybe a list of all the supernatural abilities and the meaning of terms like "Prima ball", "prima season" "inbetweeners". We’re basically just left to fend for ourselves lol. Makes it really hard to immerse ourselves into the story

The romance was meh
The smut meh
The fmc became such a cry baby after she started developing feelings for the mmc it was so off putting 🥴
Also the she’s like 136yo and he is 26 I think💀 lmao anyways. The story was also boring and very predictable so yeah here you got it🤷🏽‍♀️

FUCK SHIT THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD. I SWEAR, THIS BOOK WHEN A GUY IS SOFTTHEARTED AND THE GIRL IS GRUMPY EVIL QUEEN. REVERSE GRUMPY X SUNSHINE. THE BEST FANTASY I READ. I GUESS IT’S HAS DYSTOPIAN ELEMENTS?

The queen is so perfect. Every time he lends his eyes to her, it's like she’s the only beautiful girl he only sees in his eyes. He’s so dreamy, omg. And the ice skating scene? When Cade went ice skating with the evil queen. He’s in pain because he doesn’t know how to ice skate. he fell with his butt. Then the queen laughed at him. He was so dreamy at that time that he would let himself throw off to the second floor of the palace. I was like, "Omg, Cade, you are in pain and you heard the evil queen laugh, and you want to throw yourself off the second floor to hear her laugh more."🥹

I admit i was disappointed and not satisfied because it’s fast faced. But it turn out to be good

Amina is good at recommending books, and she didn’t lie when she said that this book is good. The author's writing style is so beautiful. As much as I want to gatekeep this book. This series deserves to have a lot of readers. This book get me out of slump. When i’m in first chapter. I say that i have butterflies in my stomach, i don’t like 3rd person povs but this is the exception

A book with a real strong female lead count me in.
This book was so good,if you’re new to fantasy or scared to get into it,this is perfect for you. It had one of simplest world buildings so you will not look confused half the time also it’s fast paced and there’s a lot of characters interaction and for me that is very important.
I loved the characters and their development it was so amazingly written.
The title is the queen of the dome,AND A QUEEN SHE WAS.
She’s literally the grumpy and angry one.
The morally gray one.
The strong one.
The who did this to you one.
MY GOD I LOVE HER SO MUCH
But I also loved the male lead he’s all sunshine and goofy smile he has my heart.
And the fact he had 0 fragile masculinity in him ARE U KIDDING ME. she was literally like “ where are your guards you need protection” and he was like “ I got you, you’ll protect me” bye he’s perfect.
ANYWAYSS READ THIS BOOK.

I don’t usually write reviews or read fantasy, but reading this book changed me…. joking….. kinda. Anyways, as a person who does not read fantasy, this book was amazing! Usually I can’t understand fantasy books and I fail to follow along, but this book just made me want to go and read more of them because I didn’t realize how much I was missing out. For this to be my first fantasy book completed, I could not have been any happier with my book choice.

Enough of me ranting about my blooming love for fantasy and more about my review of this book. Starting off it was a bit difficult for me to understand since I’m not used to this genre but after a few chapters I easily had down who was who and what was what. I went into this book with low expectations because I didn’t think I would be able to get into this book, but I was pleasantly surprised with how attached I became. I spent most of my slow hours at work reading this book because once I got halfway through, it was so hard to put down. I honestly have no complaints and the fact that everyone loves the second book so much more is getting me so excited to start it. If you need motivation or if your wondering if this book is for you, I definitely recommend checking out her tiktok (@amizahwrites) because after watching just a few videos I was convinced to read this book!

This book is all-in-all amazing. I found out about the book through TikTok and fell in love as I read the short skits from the book posted by the author. This is very well written and I loved Cade, Deianira, Cassian, and Salem. I liked Devin and Lia too, but those 4 characters mentioned previously just had my heart. I could not put the book down, but once I got to chapter 25, I thought, what am I supposed to do after I finish this? So I stopped and found the second book and ordered it immediately. I am so excited to read about Cassian and Salem, from what the author posted on TikTok, I am so excited!

this is what i get for trusting tiktok

i saw so many people calling this a 5-star read and i honestly have to disagree 😭 this book could do with some editing / streamlining / idk what… the plot was half decent but not executed very well. the characters’ motivations and such were unclear and tbh i was lost numerous times throughout the book trying to figure out why a character did what they did

and i lied abt the plot being half decent because WHY DID WE LOSE IT HALFWAY THRU THE BOOK

I was so surprised not many people heard of this book! It was an amazing read for me. I liked Cade from the beggining, and the entire storyline was delightful to follow. Having said that, I am very excited to read Cassian's story too. This was a great book, anyone who loves a little opposites attract and the good guy trope, I think you should read it :)

i had high hopes for this book. oh well. it wasn’t horrible. i like the male main character, cade. i liked the girl too ,deiarana but cade was definitely my favourite. i just didn’t care about the characters or the actual plot or anything really.
it’s about cade who gets sent to the dome to be killed because he took the blame for his brothers actions. but he doesn’t get killed and is sent to a training program in the dome. and then he becomes close to the queen of the dome. and then cades dad and deiaranas uncle, jude, decide to kill the queen so that jude become the king.
i liked cassians character development. if i cared more about the book, i would read the 2nd one bc it’s his relationship with salem, but i dont care.
also there’s a scene where deiarana rips out this guys spine?!??!! and then used the spine to kill another guy?!??? no but i love her.
and the angry love confessionnnn😫😫😫i haven’t read one in so long and it was great
oh alsoooo i knew jude was the bad from the starttttttt. it was really obvious tho. but i’d still like to think that im just super smart
but i’m ngl this book was doomed from the start bc it’s writing in 3rd person😰😰😰

This is actually the first book where I would like a hundred pages more. Everything seemed so rushed, like the author had this plot on mind and was in such a hurry to write it down, she didn’t seem to think on the details. At the end of the book I had a feeling like I slept through half of the events because it’s so fast and kind of… hollow? Fall in love in a few weeks AND confess about it? That is such a rushed love story… Especially the epilogue. Like wdym, 7 years later? It would’ve been so much better to make it 2-3 years later instead.

Was it a good book? Probably not. Did I enjoy it? Yes. I giggled so much at the start and was pleasantly surprised to find a bit of spice there too. It wasn’t nearly as good as booktok said but it’s worth a try.

4-4.5 (question mark?)⭐️

OKAY LETS TALK

I went into this book knowing close to nothing about it. I think it’s ‘labelled’ as slow burn and enemies to lovers which I don’t totally agree with but none the less… REVERSE GRUMPY X SUNSHINE?! It had this like action and twist, for me the plot was good.

It was a bit slow at the start just because of the fact that it’s in third person and fantasy takes a minute for me to understand. BUT after that mark I physically couldn’t put it down and read majority of it in one sitting.

It was very enjoyable overall, I’m intrigued to see how it’s gonna develop as a trilogy, it seems finished but I WILL eat up more. I liked it and have minimal complains but like I’m easy to please. 💃

- great ideas!
- great scenes!
- a lot of great descriptions to build the world up
but it just needed… moreee

like maybe less about lia, salem, casssian, like they didnt need their own POV. It was like tryna squish all their stories into one, maybe their stories couldve been towards the end of the book wouldve been better.

ALSO,
- It needs more world building
- needs more emotional connection between FMC and MMC
- i couldnt connect with it; purely because it was all sped up and lacked the overall slowburn that romantasy books usually have.

I hope the second ones better.

That was way better than I expected.
The reason they liked themselves had no depth but okay.
Little miss evil harsh and ruthless but it took forest green eyes to break her after 132 years of formidability. I also called the mole. It was almost too easy I thought it was going to have a but more pizzazz. Wahala. But that little conflict between Cade and Deinira was so unnecessary it pissed me off. It seemed like Cade went "We've never fought before so I want to fight with for the flimsiest of reasons" 🤷🏾‍♂️but other than that, the book was good. At least it passed the initial standards I set.

okay idk if im just smart or this book was predictable but i guessed everything within the first 75 pages…i mean it was good but everything just felt so flat. like the plot was giving basic the romance was anything but slow burn and yall just call anything enemies to lovers nowadays. i think it was a good book but there wasn’t anything that really made it stand out. im also not at all interested in the next book like i genuinely can’t stand cassian. i love Salem but cassian angers me so much for no reason. anywho 3 stars bc it was still good it was just nothing to rave about
