Whew! What a journey! Now I was all on the heroines side because Q did Kaelyn dirty BUT that pumpkin patch scene really was the catalyst to show both Q & K had some growing up to do! The drama was top tier but so was the character development and wow I really enjoyed this and would reread! This is the friends to lovers/second chance stories I love reading about! I’m excited to get to the next book in the series!!
Coming back to add although I understand Kayson may be hurt….I DONT LIKE HIM! he definitely took advantage of a situation he had no business being apart of and knowingly knew he hated Q. That is foul and I don’t like him because of that!
I’ve had this on my TBR for yearsssss & finally got around to reading it. It has some of my fav tropes: sports romance, second chance, secret baby, & best friends to lovers 😍
It was A LOT going on. Did not know a small town like Woodgate had drama like this lmaoooo . Kaelyn, Quentin & Kayson situation was making my head hurt jesusssss After all the back and forth I’m glad they worked it out for them and sweet Bailey 💕
My fav character out this whole book was Quentin’s grandmother Anastasia!!!!! Had she not been sick and in the hospital I do not think Quentin would have came back to Woodgate. She was the one to get the ball rolling!
Now on to read about the cousin Keira and Asher. Asher was talkin big ish about pursuing Ke!
The story was fresh and kept me engaged in the story. A second and third chance is what this couple shared. They kept doing do overs until they got it right.
Skye Moon books for me so far, have been a either a hit or a NEAR miss...This one being in the latter category. The reason though, not really having much to do with the book itself, but moreso having to do with the fact that the synopsis basically told the entire plot of the book. There was no mystery or surprise in anything that happened throughout the book, as I believe was intended, because the synopsis gave it all away. It was like watching one of those movie trailers that basically tells you every plot point and whats going to happen, to the point you're like "well why would I go to see the movie, you just showed it to me!" That's how I felt with this book...So with the element of surprise and mystery taken away, all that was left to carry the book were the writing, the characters, and their chemistry, which if i'm being honest, were mid at best.
Quentin and Kaelyn were friends turned lovers, turned enemies, turned lovers. But I didn't really feel that much of a spark between them. They were kind of just there for me and going through the motions. And again, I think if the plot hadn't been so heavily spoiled by the synopsis, maybe I would have felt more but...unfortunately that wasn't the case.
All in all a decent read. I got through it pretty quickly, reading most of it in between 5-7 minute commercial breaks while watching season 3 of Orphan Black. But definitely nothing to call home about.
This was an emotional ride! My goodness. I felt everything when reading this story—I had so many up and down thoughts about each character. Q really annoyed me but then I loved him then I hated him again…lol
The MC, Kaelyn was annoying at times, I was upset with a lot of her decision making but I genuinely liked her as her character developed throughout the book.
I’m glad I gave this book a shot, I’m interested to read the other books in this series.
This was childhood friends to lovers and there was a secret baby. The secret baby situation pissed me off so bad there was literally no justification for it. But the story did have me hooked.

Quentin and Kaelyn have been BFs since they were children. They both always had a secret desire for one another, but they’ve never acted on it.
One night before their college graduation they decided to take their friendship to the next level both vowing not to let it change anything between them. Well, what happens when one of them breaks that promise and the other is left brokenhearted and alone. Four years later, an unexpected event lands them back into each others lives. Will it force them to realize that all they needed to help heal their individual wounds was each other or is it too late?
Quentin.. Quentin.. Quentin.. this man was working my nerves 😂 I wanted to slap him a couple times to be honest. The drama in this one had me going off on a few people. Alita I have words for you. 😂 And can I say I want to move to Woodgate. I loved the development of all the characters in this book.
Honorary mention: Kaelyn’s, father Theodore, he a real one! 👏🏾👏🏾
This is a friends to lovers/2nd chance romance. I would recommend
Im not gonna hold you this was a miss lol. It was too much drama and it overshadowed the romance. I didn't feel any love honestly. Both the mmc and the fmc were so childish and they were tryna raise a child together. Lol no. I didn't see any growth in none of the characters. The last little 3% of the book didn't feel like growth to me. Idk it feels unfinished so Im hoping for better in the next book.
Wow, Skye Moon is a new to me author and wow, I am feenin’ to read through her catalogue. This story was so unexpectedly good. I’m almost at a lost for words. First, let me say I loved all the supporting characters and how they continuously checked Kaelyn and Quinton. Secondly, the plot, girl, from the synopsis, its understood this is a second chance romance, so we can expect some misfortunate and a lil heartbreak. But when you pull back the layers of the onion and see Kael and Q at their cores, it gets a bit ugly and uncomfortable truths are hard to swallow. By 48%, I was totally not expecting twist Skye threw out there, but thats just how much of a great page turner this book was. Kael was dead a s s wrong and tbh, Kayson is alright with me! I hate what happened to him, but he knew what it was and still decided to participate in things. And Shimmer, that thirsty menace, went out sad, but i did not like how Kael tried to pass judgement on her given the skeletons in and out of her closet. Its lovers to friends, enemies to lovers, but imo, there’s not a lot of romance. After years of being friends, the lovers part happens and ends rather quickly. Then once they reconnect, they just have so much to work through as people coming together, as established adults and co-parents. So, i won’t say Quinton is a book bae, but this still is highly enjoyable book and i highly recommend!!
This just might be one of the messiest secret baby stories I’ve ever read! It’s got sports, small town, best friends to lovers, hell a love triangle! There’s so many things that could go wrong yet we’re oh so right but all caps.. MESSY!
We love Kaelyn but honey, baby, chile!! In the same tiny town you grew up in? The arch nemesis? We just let Ana be Mimi while she really is Mimi but doesn’t know it? Kaelyn was REALLY playing in these peoples faces!! Truthfully her and Q were both selfish as all hell! Neither of them should’ve let things get so far but alas here we are!
Foolishness aside this book had some of my favorite tropes so I personally think it was perfect! A sports romance where said sports is a major yet supporting role and full of angst is my favorite kind! This was a rollercoaster of emotions and when it went to hell baby it went all the way down! When it came back up though we swoon like it just started! Quentin’s final speech was nothing but gems! My man was coming hard for everything that was waiting on him and I’m obsessed with it!!
The writing was top tier, for sure a strong 4 stars. But the heroine was immature, manipulative, and too annoying for me.
Initially, I thought I would feel the opposite, that I would be more annoyed with Q. But once what she did came out… 🗣️MA’AM!!!!
While I love that particular trope, the manner in which Kael handled this situation and in such a small town. It was forever, “f you” for me. She spent the majority of the book, making Q to be this horrible person. And all the while, she was keeping secrets and trying to gate keep two men. Because she played the heck out of Kays and while I get the impact on Bailey. Her having an attitude about him possibly cutting her out. Girl! It’s like she didn’t give a crap about anyone but herself.
Her outrage about everyone’s outrage was throwing me. I just couldn’t root for her. He deserved better. And so did Bailey.
Something about friends to lovers that just speaks to my heart 💜.
Quentin. Quentin. Quentin. I ain’t never disliked and loved someone at the same time before. Kaelyn…lord I was rooting for Kaelyn until the secret came out. And I’m like ma’am. How could you do my Q like that. Lord. Kayson just wanted Kaelyn to love him and live happily ever after. Kiera was my girl cause she wasn’t scared to tell Kaelyn the truth, even if it hurt her feelings. And I prayed that Q woulda smacked Kiera’s baby daddy cause sir…no one cares what you’re talking about.
This book was a page turner. From the drama to the plot twist I never saw coming. I was hooked. I can’t wait to read book 2.
Throughout this entire book no matter what the circumstance you could always feel that first of all these two were friends. Kae drove me nuts with her back and forth attitude and her spoiled ways. Q drove me crazy because he was so selfish and immature. But when they got it together they were smooth sailing. This was a great read and I definitely recommend you pick this one up.
SHAME ON ME FOR WAITING SO LONG TO READ THIS MASTERPIECE! Skye Moon pieced together and beautifully crafted love story that had a little bit of everything. These characters and their journey…child I feel like I need to glue my edged back on. The character development was top tier. The message behind the story was beautiful. And with every page turned, I felt myself more and more connected to Kaelyn, Q, and little Peanut. Definitely a 5 star read for me.
Wow! I was instantly drawn to this book, as a “friend turned more” situation is currently happening in my life. Kaelyn and Quentin had that imperfect romance we all love to read about and this book didn’t miss a beat! Great twists and turns in a super relatable storyline. Excellent job!
Whew K and Q were something else. I loved the drama surrounding their young love and the growth they showed in the end. I’m always a sucker for redemption and this story did not disappoint. Not many can right a friends to lovers to enemies then friends and lovers again as well as Skye. Get into it.
Skye plays NO GAMES, chile! I didn't expect anything that happened... Things were rough between Quentin and Kaelyn, but they truly belonged together. I enjoy almost every piece of work that Skye puts out, she's an amazing writer with so much talent. She writes with so much passion that I always finish her books I'm a day, solid. Great book!
I loved the writing in this book!!! It was real and entertaining.
Friends to lover has to be my favorite trope and I haven’t seen it done this good in a long time. Quentin might’ve taken a while to get himself together but that boy got it in the end. I loved the banter and friendship between Quentin and Kael.
I’ve never been a fan of the secret baby trope. To me it’s a huge character flaw when a woman keeps a father from their child. So all of that to say, Kaelyn’s actions were disappointing. It caused a lot of unnecessary drama. In addition to throwing off the chemistry between the couple.
This was my first read by Skye Moon and I must say it did not disappoint. In the beginning I was excited to see where the couple was going to go. However when I realized he left and then it jumps to time ahead. I’m thinking baby I never put 2 and 2 together that hey this just may be Quentin’s baby. I’ll definitely be finishing the series because now I’m intrigued.

I really enjoyed the story of Quentin and Kaelyn. Q was a bit of a hot head but he eventually started making better decisions. Kael was so wrong for hiding Bailey's paternity from Q. She could have at least let his grandmother know but everything worked out and Bailey had extra family members to love her. Great book.
This book was so good from start to finish. I thought it was gonna be a regular friend to lover story but Skye took their story and made a MOVIE you hear!!!
This book was right on time for me because I was in a funk! I loved how Q and Kael loved each other. It stood a test of time. It sucked about Kayson but he got a woman in the end as well
This was a well written and very entertaining friends to lovers story. There is love lost, love recovered, healing, forgiveness and some football-ish drama. It’s a good small town love story.
What a rollercoaster of emotions? I flipped back and forth so many times decided if I wasn’t Quentin and Kaelen together. This book was a mini soap opera and a great read. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
It’s a good story of mistakes and second chances overall. Q’s pent up anger and violent outbursts leads me to believe he would be a woman beater so I don’t like his character. Plus the amount of times he used the N word was ridiculous, not my writing style
I am beyond happy Kael and Q finally got it together! I was worried for a second lol! I’m so happy that they were able to grow and heal from the past and move forward with each other 💛
