One day all of Lion City will be mine. That is what my father has told me my entire life. My pride. My city. My life. That is until… One night. One mistake. It’s all taken away from me. Betrayals I never saw coming, slap me in the face and send me running for my life. Hiding out in a den of oblivion. My peace is only found at the bottom of a bottle, a handful of pills, or the tip of a needle. I resign myself to the fact, I’ll never go home again. Even if I did, would anyone even recognize me? After everything I let myself become? They say the truth sets you free, but in my case the truth only brings more misery. Damaged Pride is a dark contemporary mafia menage MFM. It is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Language, violence, sexual situation, drug use, and other themes will be prevalent throughout book. More in depth content warnings will be listed in the book.
"Damaged Pride" is one of those fairytale retellings where it's all in the details... If you're not aware this book is a retelling for the Lion King, you might not even notice the references. Once you do though, it adds an interesting layer to this contemporary maffia standalone. I love the MFM relationship in this book, and especially how it develops throughout the story. I refuse to give away spoilers, but the ultimate dynamic between Neal, Alister and Sibrina was my favorite part of this story.
There is some interesting character development in "Damaged Pride", and once again I have to admit the psycho male is my favorite character... Still, the author chose to give us some very interesting side characters as well, and I wouldn't mind seeing some of those again in the future. The only downside to this fairytale retelling is that some parts of the story feel rushed. Perhaps that's the case because it's a standalone and a lot of story development had to fit into one book, but some parts just felt a little glossed over for me. It's still an interesting story though, and definitely an interesting contemporary spin on the Lion King.
I loved this Lion King retelling by November Sweets. Its action packed, and a mafia take on the classic movie, with lots of twists you don't see coming.
*Menage *Contemporary *Multi-PoV *fairytale retelling (Lion King) *mafia *revenge *second chance *fathers best friend *arranged marriage *fast burn 🔥 *standlone Lion King Retelling This is a very clever retelling, with each of the characters notably reflecting key characters from the story! This is a fast paced easy to follow storyline, that very much follows the original, except our main character is a leading lady with two love interests 😄 both are very different but fiercely love Siri - there the psycho sweet boy Neal and naughty ‘Uncle’ Alister 🔥🔥 These men will do anything to help her out of the predicament she finds herself in after the murder of her father 😢there is character growth for our Siri especially when she’s away, but thankfully she knows what she needs to do! The only thing that let this down for me was the ending felt incredibly rushed! It all seemed to be over in the matter of a couple of pages after a very significant build up - this May just be as it’s a standalone. Still a good spin on this classic👍🏻
From the very first chapter I knew this was a Lion King retelling and I loved every second of it. Here we have Sib who is her fathers pride and joy. She is the heiress to her father company and the city they live in. This girl was raised to be a certain way and she can handle things on her own...maybe not when it comes to the two males who want her the most Neal and Alister. Neal is her fiancé while Alister is her fathers best friend. They both love her with equal measure and would do anything for her and I do mean anything. I do like the twist of Alister being Scar because there is just something delicious about that. When tragedy strikes Sib is forced to run away leaving everyone and everything behind. However she does seem to find a family that she loves and cherish and they help her through a lot.
I swear I get so emotionally invested in these characters that I feel everything that they experience. I loved the gender switch with the characters and I have to admit one of my favorite characters was Neal. He had a bit of crazy and sweet to him but he was also hilarious. I do wish that I had a bit more information about certain people because when things hit the fan it happened all to quick. Otherwise this was a great read. Very fast but the ending didn't leave me wondering.
This twisted fairytale had pieces of one of my favorites movies. I liked the banter between all the characters from the start.
Sib is the heiress to her fathers enterprises. Raised to be strong and able to stand up for herself. When her father is murdered and she gets blackmailed to leave and to never come back, she does what her father whispers to her to do, she runs. She runs from the city, the responsibility and the two men she loves Alister, her fathers right hand man and Neal her fiancé. When she finally stops running and thinks it’s safe she gets an apartment. She has to recharge but the grief is overwhelming. Her neighbors become her lifeline and she begins to make this new life her reality. But what and who she left behind will eventually come for her. When they find her, she must decide to either stay or return and avenge her fathers death. But when she returns, she won’t be alone and with new beginnings, friends and allies she can take her rightful place on her fathers throne.
Damaged Pride by November Sweets is one the best twisted fairytale Lion King retellings I’ve ever read and November knocked this one out of park! If you love fairytale Retellings within a mafia twist then this is the one for you!
Our FMC Sibrina firat appears to be your average Mafia Princess—just living her life under her mafia fathers rule. Until tragedy and betrayal knock her of course and send her life into a downward tailspin of destruction. November did an amazing job crafting a captivating storyline with phenomenal character development that pulls the reader right in. I absolutely loved all of the characters and how they all interacted, including the sidekicks lol but her guys are my absolute favorite, and I loved how they all came together in the story and helped each other grow.
Would highly recommend for any fairytale retelling fan! Just be sure to check your triggers before diving in
I received an Arc copy of this book and was excited to get reading as all the other books in this series have been great. Sibrina is the Mafia Princess and Heir to the Pride Family. She is engaged to Neal but in a secret relationship with her father second in charge Alistair. After a series of events Sibi is forced to run away and restart her life. Enter her new bfs Toma, Bub and Ryan, whom help her with her grief and start over. Just when things have settled she is thrust back into her old life when Neal and Alistair find her after and make her face her demons. This book has spicy moments right from the start and I loved the men in her life. Great read !!
Damaged Pride by November Sweets 🖤Tropes - Dark Fairytale Retellings- The Lion King 🖤Contemporary romance 🖤Mafia 🖤Fathers best friend 🖤Arranged Marriage 🖤age gap 🖤Forced proximity 🖤Second chance 🖤Revenge . Settle in grab on tight and prepare yourself for one heck of a ride because Damaged Pride is the type of romance that has the ability to play on all your emotions .you’ll find yourself completely speechless, you’ll feel like your heart is breaking , you’ll find yourself so frustrated at times you’ll want to throw you tablet right across the room , but what never wavers is how invested you’ll become in each and every character.
I loved this twisted version of The Lion King. Sibrina, or Siri was living her best life when it all came tumbling down around her. She was betrayed by someone she should have been able to trust, so she has to run away. Starting a new life and making new friends is challenging but she comes out the other side knowing who is really by her side. With new friends and old, she takes back her legacy. I love how Neal is such an interesting character and the different way his relationships are. I loved that Neal and Alister put aside their differences to help Sib out, and how ger new friends won't take no gor an answer. Another great read in the Fairytales with a Twist series!
So I didn't realise this was a Lion King retelling at first, I probably should have with the references to Lions and Prides but yep apparently I missed the memo. Our leading lady, Siri is the heir to her father's company and mafia empire. Well, that is until she isn't when her father is killed and she is blamed. She's on the run, but her 'fiance' and 'uncle' aren't going to give up on trying to find her.
It's a rollercoaster ride with a lot of amazing side characters added in along the way. It's fast-paced, especially the ending but overall I enjoyed it from start to finish and once I was a few pages in, I couldn't put it down because I was invested in the characters.
Another wickedly fun story from The Fairytales with a Twist collection. November Sweets puts her own spin on The Lion King, with this dark & spicy mafia tale. Though it did have darker elements (violence, death, drugs & trauma) it was definitely a fun read. The banter between the characters gave it a lighter feel. The spice was perfect for the story and has some surprise twists. A bit longer then a Novela but still finished under 3hrs. I could have gone for more at the end, knowing how much trouble this bunch could get into. All in all a definite recommend for me. As always make sure your comfortable with what your reading. Happy Reading Book Besties💙
I do love a good fairytale retelling but I’ve never seen one for Lion King. November Sweets has taken this story and spun on it around so beautifully that I had almost forgotten the little nods to Lion King that were interwoven so seamlessly. It’s honestly the little things like Pride company, Lion City. “Uncle” with the scar. This whole thing with the mafia was so wonderfully executed. I am obsessed with everything and also the characters. Neal was definitely my favorite with the whole unhinged psycho vibes with the low key golden retriever energy. I just couldn’t stop reading
I loved the storyline and the Lion King vibes. There was a bit of action and suspense, we also got humor and steam! Sabrina was a great FMC. She went through some growth in the story. I loved the side characters that helped her along the way. I loved both Alister and Neal. Alister was a sexy, silver fox. Neal for his humor and brand of crazy. The banter between Alister and Neal was some of my favorite part of the story. Overall, I thought it was a short and easy read, with the right amount of plot, spice and humor.
This Lion King retelling was a major hit for me, I loved it. The character development really made the story. Sibrina appeared like an average Mafia Princess at first, but when she has to make her own way, she does amazingly. The secondary characters also won my heart, I fell in complete love with Tomas and want a Tomas of my own! Her men are so hot, and they fit her perfectly in their own ways. Neal definitely had me swooning by the end of the book, with that dark Golden retriever energy. I wish the ending had a little more to it, but overall, an amazing read!
This fairytale with a twist borrows some plot points from The Lion King, but is it's own story. Imagine that instead of the African Plains the story is set in a modern day city and the Pride? Oh its a mafia family- yeah, now you are getting it! A Ménage romance with mafia princess and 2 enforcers who are as different from each other as you could possibly imagine and one fierce and strong woman that runs and hides with her grief. Watching this story unfold was awesome, totally not what I expected and full of steamy moments!
This story drew me in because I rarely see a Lion King retelling, it did not disappoint. This book has amazing well written characters that keep you emotionally invested. The plot is action packed and is a fast paced read. Sib has two protective men before she was forced to leave and found more protectors in Toma, Bub and Ryan. Sib is amazing and does not give up easily. You definitely will not see the twist coming. I highly recommend reading this engaging mafia Lion King retelling. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Damaged Pride Fairytales With A Twist book eight November Sweets Stars:⭐️⭐️⭐️.7 Spice: 🌶️ Time to read: 2.5 hours HEA **My review may contain spoilers!!!!! **Read Trigger Warnings!!!!

The banter in this book is to d1e for! Some scenes were anticlimactic though.
Damaged Pride by November Sweets is part of a shared world called Fairytales with a Twist. We meet Sib, a young woman who is going to take the seat in Pride City that her dad holds. When a tragedy happens, Sib has to run and leave Neal and Alister behind. I loved watching Sib on the run, starting a new life, and making new friends. Neal is a fun character! This is a fun, fast paced book. Lots of spice. Loved it. Looking forward to the other books in this shared world.
What a journey this story takes you on. I could tell that this was a twist on the lion king and I absolutely loved it. Sib is such a strong women, even though she had some dark days. Alister and Neal are both interesting characters. Ray, Bub, and Toma are some of the best friends a girl could ask for and they supported Sib the best they could. This story contained spice and plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing which is always my favorite.
Damaged Pride is part of the Fairytales With A Twist series and a retelling of The Lion King. This was a quick and fast paced read and it did not disappoint! I loved Sabrina and the strength she shows throughout the story. And what’s not to love about silver fox, Alister and psycho, golden retriever vibes! This trio were so fun to read about and you can definitely tell it is a Lion King retelling! The only thing I would change is the ending, as it felt a little rushed to me. But otherwise, this read was pure perfection!
Wow! What a fantastic retelling. I was hooked right from the start, completely drawn in and couldn't stop reading. This was such an amazing and original concept for a retelling. I loved the characters. Sabrina was an great FMC and I loved the relationships she had with her men and her friends. I never would have though of mixing Lion King with a mafia story but November Sweets gives an amazing sort that really works.
And we’re back with another fairytale with a twist! And this time, (if you guessed it) we have a lion king retelling! And while i had my ideas of how it would go, i was pleasantly surprised with the plot!
I loved the book, however there were point which i would have liked to read more about! I loved Sibrina and her attitude towards dating Neal while also having a relationship with Alistair (p.s. please forgive me if i’m writing their names wrong!) i loved the plot progression as well as spice, however, a bit more group scenes would have been great! (Yes, i’m a sucker for group scenes).
Get ready for a story that is full of mafia, betrayal, forbidden romance, a two-faced psycho (you’ll love him) and a lot of other things that you’ll love!
The Lion King was my favorite growing up so I knew I would love this and add in mafia?! Omg yes!! It was a nice, quick read with a decent amount of spice 🔥 I love the MFM aspect and how it followed the storyline we all know but twisting it and making it for us adults. I just wish there was a little more in the epilogue after everything that happened.
I LOVE this series... but this was so far, and sadly, my least favorite...
It wasn't too twisty.. was all to be assumed... they defn could have done so much more with this... I loved the love interests... they were great but a little more would have been nice.
Absolutely adored this story, characters were lovable and aside the cringe factor of self piercings with a gun (piercer here.... Huge huge nope with butt cringes from it) the let down was the end..... It felt so rushed and too neatly tied up and I feel it let the rest of the book down
This is the first lion king retelling I’ve ever read. And now I’m obsessed.
Sib, Neal, Alistair, Toma, Bub, and Ray are funny and fierce. I didn’t want this story to end. It’s got the perfect amount of plot and spice. A couple twists you don’t expect. And a HEA.
The first time I read November sweets books it was a retelling and it was sooo good. I was so excited when she was doing another one and wasn’t disappointed.
Interesting take on a fairy tale classic. This was a quick read for men. It was fast paced with plenty of drama, good banter, twists and spice. Felt a little rushed so there wasn’t much room for character development, other than that I enjoyed it.
Overall I enjoyed it. It was a good twist on the fairy tale, MFM, Mafia meets Lion King but it felt pushed, rushed. The characters were great, fun and had personalities that worked well with the story and each other. Sib was a strong fmc, I liked her taking control of her situation and handling it. Just wish the story didn't feel like certain key parts were rushed through when they could've added just a little more to the story. Part of the Fairy tales with a Twist series.
