I want him, and I hate him for it. Ten years ago he broke my heart, left me wasted, and now he's walking into my office engaged to my sister's best friend and I can't stand it. I want to make him pay for what he did to me. I won't let him in again. I can't. He's too dangerous, he makes me want too much. But when I wrap my fingers around his throat and find he's willing to give himself to me, body and soul, I don't know how long I can resist.
Max
She's the one that got away, the one I could never let go of. She's the reason I'm famous, she's the one who inspired me. When she looks at me with pure contempt I melt. She wants to punish me, and I want to feel her rage. I want her to show me what she's made of. As soon as we meet again, sparks fly and my want turns to need and obsession. I can't leave without tasting her. She’s always been my drug, and I know that once will never be enough.
Tearing You Apart is book one of the Lovers and Liars series but can be read as a standalone. It is an enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance with darker themes and a guaranteed HEA. This is a lawyer/rockstar romance containing explicit sex scenes and is recommended for readers 18+
Content Warnings: Consensual Choking, Very Strong Language, On-Page Panic Attacks
This book is set in England and uses British English, as well as British slang I grew up with and still use today.
Born and raised in Scotland, Abigail has always been surrounded by green hills, forests, and fairy stories. First a gardener, then a carpenter, and now an author, she writes steamy stories about passionate and heartfelt characters who always get their happily ever afters.
Huge thank you to Abigail Hunter for letting me be a part of her arc team! I am so grateful for the opportunity. This review is my own thoughts and opinions of the book.
Cat is a high powered, focused lawyer who is good at her job. When her friend Bunny comes to her about signing a pre-nup for her upcoming wedding, Cat is distraught to find out Bunny’s fiancée is nine other than the man who broke her heart ten years prior. Max is a rockstar for quickly rose to fame with Cat’s help. However, something happened that forcibly ended their relationship. Now they are back in each other’s lives and sparks are flying once more.
This is a rockstar, second chance, enemies to lovers, best friend’s fiancée romance so I knew going into it that it was going to have some angst but boy, was I unprepared. There is so much tension between Cat and Max and the dual POV only adds to that. When things eventually hit the breaking point and the tension breaks, the spice that follows was palpable. Cat knows what she wants and it very aggressive in a way I’m not used to seeing from a female main character. I also loved how submissive Max was despite the scruffy rockstar persona he has.
The third act conflict felt deserved. Like I kind of knew how it would happen early in the book so I was prepared for it. I loathe third act conflicts that seem to come out of nowhere.
My only major complaint (and it’s not even really a complaint, it’s more of a compliment to the author) is that I wish the angst was stretched out a little longer before things got spicy. It was so well done and tense to read, I would have loved about 30-50 more pages of the “we can’t do this because we hate each other” vibes. I was also not a huge fan of the epilogue but that’s a personal preference. I think a lot of people will like it.
This was a solid 4.5 star for me, rounded up and I can’t wait to see what this author writes next!
First id like to start off that i dont think this book was exactly for meRegardless of it not being for me, this book will be exceptionally fun for someone to read. If you love:
❤️🔥 Miscommunication ❤️🔥 Rockstar/band tropes ❤️🔥 Dual POV ❤️🔥 Angst ❤️🔥 Second Chance ❤️🔥 Slow Burn ❤️🔥 And some spice
then this book is perfect for you! If you want a book about the a FMC being in control and bold in and outside the bedroom, read this 👏 The characters are well rounded and written well. The FMC, Cat, is fisty and fiery and its safe to say i have a crush on her. Also the MMC, Max, god damn.. 🥵 SHEESH! The angst, the anger, the absolute absurdity of a certain character had me rattled. I sincerely wanted to violently shake the FMC's best friend lol. I do have to point out that at times i felt like things dragged on or there was to much describing. I kinda felt like a few things kept getting repeated over and over. Im sure it was for dramatic effect and the author knows what she is doing but for me, i just kept noticing it and I was eventually just skipping over it. There is nothing necessarily bad about this, its just something i noticed. I think another thing was that this book is very much spice heavy ( alot of lusting for one another. Hate passion anyone? ) but also has plot. I kinda thought there was more spice or sexual frustration than plot and i prefer more of the opposite. Though there is a good plot line i just felt there was alot of heated/spicy talk/descriptions amongst the plot. Again nothing wrong with this, just not my cup of tea. I like things a bit dialed back. There is alot of passion build up, alot of "hate lusting" ( i dont think thats a term but im using it ), and when you finally get to an actual spice scene after about 50%.. lets just say i actually audibly said "FINALLY" lmao. I cant really say much without spoilers but man.. wow. This book. The love that was build over the time of this book. The pain the MC's had gone through. By the time the book ended I felt like even i had closure. Talk about a good happy ending! Abigal Hunter did an amazing job. This is her debut novel and she should be so incredibly proud of herself. Thank you so much @abigalhunter for allowing me Read and review this ARC! May you have many more successful books. Congratulations darling. You have done splendid ♥️
This book will be released MAY 16th and will be available on KU!!
I’m not quite sure where to start with this book. The writing was spot on, character depth, very descriptive and flowed nicely. This is a second chance romance, a strong female lead and a rock star hero.
I rate this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️.5
Let’s just get the parts that lead me to 4 stars instead of possibly 5 out of the way. I just could not relate to the FMC, I found her to be extremely head strong, unhappy at life and possibly needing therapy. She had some pretty dark moments, some involving MMC and could label this a dark romance. This book had some miscommunication and a lot of angst, both of which I have a hard time reading.
I really enjoyed Max, and his unconditional love for Cat. His inner thoughts and concerns, his heart.. it was all amazing. Especially considering he’s a rockstar and they have a stereotype about them.
I also liked that Cat was a strong independent female, as I feel women work just as hard and should have equality, even more so in the work place.
All in all I really did enjoy this book, and read through it fairly quickly. I very much recommend and look forward to more writing from Abigail Hunter in the future.
Thank you to Abigail Hunter for the ARC of this book! What a great debut novel! I look forward to reading more from her!
This book has some of my favorite tropes…so I was really excited to read this one! Now there were a few parts that I really wasn’t excited about but definitely take a look at the content warning before reading.
I loved that the FMC was the one that was the dominating character, I haven’t seen too many books like that (but I am newer to reading this genre). Cat is such a badass! She may have taken things too far for my liking on a few occasions but in her mind she deserved that in order to move on. Max - I just loved him! I felt sorry for him getting himself into the mess in the past.. But Max & Cat are great together. Even though miscommunication can sometimes get annoying, I think this was really well written. I did love getting glimpses of their past. What a sweet romance they had!
ARC review: If you like the Miscommunication or Rockstar trope, then this book is FOR YOU!! MC’s Max and Cat met when they were young & got swept up in a whirlwind romance. After some major miscommunication, they vanished from each others lives… only to reappear a decade later under some very interesting circumstances. Max is a famous rockstar & Cat is a fancy lawyer. Will they get their second chance, or is it too late?! ℝ𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕋𝕠 𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕕 𝕆𝕦𝕥 !
Add to your TBR if you like: -Dual POV -Miscommunication -Rockstar -Slow Slow Slow Burn -Angst -Second Chance -Light BDSM Themes
Spice rating 3.5/6 (Rated on raunchiness & amount) The spice was good! Just wish there was more of it . There is no spice until about the 50% mark. So it is definitely a slow burn. I really enjoyed the plot of this book. It was fun and frustrating and everything in between! The FMC is fierce and frisky. There was a lot of description throughout, maybe a little too much sometimes, but it didn’t necessarily take away from the story (showing vs telling). This book does have a HEA. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the epilogue, but only because of personal preference. (Without giving spoilers) I thought things went too fast. That being said, the epilogue wasn’t bad, just not my cup of tea. Overall, I enjoyed the book & would read more from this author!
Cat is a wealthy lawyer whose family is part of London society.
Max is the lead singer/guitarist of a rock band.
What do these two have in common? They have a past that won’t allow them to move on from each other, even after 10 years.
The passion between these two characters prove love and hate are two sides of the same coin. Cat HATES Max for what he did to her in the past and the feelings he makes her feel now; she dominates Max as a way to deal with those feelings.
The author is a MASTER at the slow build. The tension and passion built and built throughout this book and exploded into some serious spice.
At one point, the author describes the spice between these two characters as “fiery hate sex” and that is this book in a nutshell.
Was the spice plentiful? Yes. Was there also a story? Also yes! I love that we don’t lose the plot amidst the spice.
Thanks so much to Abigail Hunter for reaching out to see if I would be interested in reading/reviewing this ARC!!
I read a lot of MMC being very dominating in the bedroom. But let me tell you, the FMC and her dominating over Max was so freaking HOT and so bloody well written. I definitely needed more of that, woooo 😮💨
There were some parts that overall I didn’t like, especially Bunny oh my lord if I could slap a character she would be it. I pushed through and didn’t regret a single moment of being glued to my phone reading it.
I also love a good second chance at romance and a happily ever after.
Thank you so much to Abigail for allowing me to read this. ❤️❤️❤️

Cat and Max broke up ten years ago. It was brutal on Cat and she was destroyed. Now, she’s built herself back up and is quite successful in her life and career as a lawyer. That is until she sees Max again. How does she see him? Well, he’s getting married to her best friend. To say it was a shock to her is putting it lightly.
Max is a very successful rockstar, but his career took off largely in part thanks to Cat. He had taken her money all those years ago and used her to further his career. At least, that’s what Cat believes. Is it the truth? Well, Max sees Cat as the one that got away. When they broke up, he was confused and searched for her everywhere.
When they come face to face again, all of their feelings rise to the surface. For Cat, it’s mostly anger, and for Max, it’s the love that never died.
This book was full of angst and tension. There was just so much tension between Cat and Max. She pushed, he pulled. She was feisty and had a strong backbone, refusing to let Max past her defenses. Max, despite not truly understanding her anger, loved Cat through it all. He was just, well, submissive to her.
The main reason for the crack between them was a major miscommunication. I dislike the miscommunication trope, but I do understand why Cat believed what had happened was real. All the evidence was pointing that way, and I could see how she was just too hurt to see it any other way.
If you like second chance romance with tension, spice, miscommunication, and angst, then this is for you!
She sees him as her sworn enemy, the one that ruined her life, and left her in pieces when she opened her heart and home for him.
He sees her as the girl that got away, the one that vanished for a reason unbeknownst to him.
It's all because of a narcissistic 'friend', creating a misunderstanding between them for his own entertainment. And now the guy she hates to love is set to marry someone that can boost his image, when all he wants to do is ravage the girl that despises him.
They're reconnection turns into a violent romance, where the line between hate and love is very thin.
This was a different romance than the ones I'm used to. Eventhough I like a dark romance every once in a while, this was something else.
Cat and Max started out as a 'normal' couple. Max is trying to get his band signed, and Cat is his biggest supporter.
But the night before Max leaves for a tour, something happens that makes Cat leave and never look back.
Until Max comes back into her life, an unwanted trip down memory lane throwing her back to the night that ruined her heart.
She's different now, the sweet, shy girl is long gone. Now she uses her power to avenge her broken trust, and makes Max beg for his life.. literally.
The book has some trigger warnings, because there are quite some violent (consensual) parts. Nevertheless, the story and the way it was written sucked me in. I liked that the roles were reversed, and Cat was the one dominating Max. She was punishing him by using her power over him in bed, and Max became aware that he liked this side of her, and he liked that she was the only one that could make him powerless and get him on his knees.
If you're looking for an unconventional love story, this is definitely worth checking out
🎸 second chance 🎸 enemies to lovers 🎸 rockstar 🎸 angst 🎸 miscommunication 🎸 slow burn
Thank you Abigail Hunter for having me on your book tour and for this ARC.
Cat Cat is a lawyer coming from the echelons of England’s high society. For ten years she disappeared from the man who nearly ended her. Only, she finds him in her office putting together prenups with her sister’s best friends of all people. Now, she wants to end him. Make him feel all the pain he caused her. But at what cost? She can’t fall for him again.
Max Max is the rockstar of a band named Clutch. She was his muse. His everything. The one who got away. But why did she leave? What did he do? And now, in the middle of a sham marriage created for publicity, he will do anything for her touch. Even if her touch means nothing but the receiving end of scorn and literal pain.
This was a fun read as an angsty dark second chance romance. I do feel obligated to warn everyone that the whole situation is due to miscommunication. That was a hard pill for me to swallow. However, the story and characters are captivating. And Abigail is a wonderful writer. I was invested from Chapter 1. Cat gets dark. And it’s refreshing to see the FMC be the dark angsty one. Max submits and finds inspiration in her wrath. There’s even a bit of lyrical poetry that stems from his obsession with her and getting her back. The story is a bit of a slow burn as well but it felt worth it.
First of all, I thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC for the first time and I was very moved, it's my first time, thanks Abigail.
"S3x of burning hatred" woooow that phrase struck me tremendously and it is that the tension between the protagonists was such that from the beginning it was palpable and I was obsessed with spicy and I already wanted these two to have the relief they wanted but Abigail very wisely made us suffer and gave us a great story that simmered.
I loved those flashes that Max and Cat had in which they remembered things from their past, also the POV of both because that way I appreciated and enjoyed the development of the story even more. I loved the dialogues from the beginning of the book because I could imagine the scenarios and that is appreciated.
I love the perfectly defined personality of both characters so much that I was able to perceive Max's pain and attraction and Cat's disappointment and hatred, but with a total attraction to him, the author took us in that swing of emotions of each one of them through the chapters.
I generally don't like books to be so descriptive and this book felt a bit that way but it's just my perception. Once again I reiterate my gratitude to the author for the opportunity to read this ARC, I really enjoyed it and I hope to continue reading her books.
Firstly I want to say a massive thank you to @authorabigailhunter for sending me an advance copy of her debut novel! I am honoured with the trust that writers put in me to read their work - it makes my heart happy.
Now, the book. Holy smokes.
If you want spice, it delivers.
If you want a powerful, strong, takes-no-shit female main character - it delivers.
If you want a cocky, obsessed and hot as sin rockstar male main character - guess what? It delivers.
Cat & Max parted ways 10 years ago under terrible circumstances. She can never forgive him for what he did and he's not even sure why she left. After spending a decade pining for the woman who disappeared, he jumps at the opportunity to become involved in her enigmatic circle - by getting engaged to her sisters best friend.
Sparks immediately fly but Cat's fury at what he did means she will never, ever succumb to the man she once loved with her entire heart. He destroyed her and she wants to return the favour.
The angst was out of this world - Max's obsession with Cat was so well written, I was obsessed with her too. I couldn't wait to see what either of them would do next to get a reaction out of the other.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the spice was phenomenal. If you're not a fan of the miscommunication trope it might not be your bag but it was very well done. I ate up the rockstar aspect and the added lyrics were a great touch!
Thank you again Abigail, I wish you all the luck in the world!
What did I just read?! spicy romance isnt my go-to genre as I dont like the mushy stuff. the blurb pulled me in and yet when i tell you…I was hooked on this from the start……..Its something else Cat is far far from mushy. Their relationship is love, hate, enemies to lovers and oh so fu**ing hot. Dual POV is expertly done I loved seeing from both sides as both were captivating with passion The dynamic power play was so expertly done and the scenes really pull you into them. Creative and one of a kind you wont have read this before. There are scenes that I still think of now going about my day because they were just that good. I wish I did this as a buddy read so I could share in my love for it. On top of being hot its intelligent with well thought out characters. I need a spin off to see what happens to bunny!!
The maturity of MC Cat was so refreshing. The way that girl handles herself despite what shes been through just makes you love her even more. Shes an absolute badass Max is just something else of a book boyfriend in the best of ways
Oh and another thing the awesome song lyrics! yes please 🥰I need to have every male MC write song lyrics now because Max has ruined me for other book men. Hes sooo in love and fu**ing sweet yet creative and HOT loved seeing the woman be in control in more ways than one - perfect
Okay I loved this concept. Cat and Max had been apart for 10 years after their first “breakup” and I use that term loosely because I don’t think it was mentioned that they ever truly broke up. She just disappeared after what his ex band mate did to her. Cat is a very successful lawyer who is hired to do Max and Bunny (family friend)’s prenup for their arranged marriage. From their Mac because obsessed with getting her back. I loved the song lyrics put between some of the chapters! Such a fun little insert!
The spice was good. I’d give it a solid 3.5. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the long chapters, which is why I think it too me so long to read it. But it was worth it! I’ll tell you I wasn’t Cat’s biggest fan and she really didn’t win me over till the last couple chapters. I did love Max from his first pov.
I was a little skeptical about the second chance aspect in the beginning with how Cat was describing everything 👀 I was like how tf he gonna bounce back from that. After getting the whole picture I understood why she was acting the way she did and the misunderstanding was big.
“I should pin your balls to the chair and chop them off for what you did to me, you lying piece of shit,” she hissed. I melted. I fucking melted at how goddamn romantic it was.
4.5⭐ 2.5🌶
*rockstar romance *lovers to enemies to lovers *second chance
Cat is a boss, great at her job as a high profile lawyer. Her family is basically royalty and their name is well known all around. She had her heartbroken by Max, a rockstar,10 years ago, and really has never recovered.
"He had torn me apart, exposed my weakness, and shown me how fragile and powerless I really was. I’d been a naive little girl who thought love was enough to sustain us"
Imagine her surprise when her sisters best friend, Bunny, needs her help with a prenup and she is engaged to Max
Open the floodgates to all the emotions, for both of them.
Max is the lead singer of Clutch, and had his heartbroken by Cat. Engaged to Bunny and getting ready for a tour. Seeing Cat reignites his feelings and he is determined to get to the bottom of what happened, and get her back.
“I hate that you make me weak, that you make me want you, that you have me under your spell.”
The tension and hate to love you, love to hate you feelings lit up the pages. I couldn't ,and wouldn't put this down. I loved all the angst and push/pull.
I love a strong and fierce FMC and Cat is that, with her claws sharp! I loved how she took control and while still loving Max, wanted to make him suffer.
This book puts a whole new meaning to the word “hate”…
Meet Cat, aka Kitty Cat, defensive attorney, comes from money, fiery and the one that got away, ahem ran away.
Now Max, aka “Maxxy”, famous rockstar, came from nothing, lost his parents tragically, and absolutely obsessed with Cat.
This story gives us glimpses of Cat and Max’s young love story. Cat being the beacon for Max in a time of great loss, losing his parents. He didn’t see much left in life until he fell in love with Cat at first sight. She helped fund his small rock band and fast forward they made is to the big leagues. However a spiteful band mate inserted himself into their dynamic and wreaked havoc. 10 years later and they reunite as Max is engaging in an arranged marriage. Or is he?
Can they stay away? Guaranteed someone gets hurt, but who?
Wow!! This book packs a serious amount of angst, dirty dirty spice and oddly an HEA. Perspective, the term “hate” often being used as endearment. The characters pour so much raw emotion all throughout. Fight hard and love hard.
Favorite quote: “Don’t you remember how much fun we had together, how perfect it was? You were my whole f’ing life, and you f’ing vanished.”
So I have to be honest, this book had a lot of tropes I can't stand: miscommunication, slow burn, tons of angst, and my least favorite of all that shows up in the epilogue. However, it wasn't a bad book. I really do wish that we had way more of Cat and Max together, though. We only really get maybe 10-15% with them together, which was frustrating. I also felt like Max should've fought back more after what Bunny did. She should've had some consequences for lying and exaggerating things out.
I would've loved more with the epilogue. I almost felt like the epilogue should've been the last chapter of the book, and then the epilogue could've been further in the future to show us where they are. I'm not sure if the intention is to have any more books with them or if the series moves on to other people. Either way, I wanted to know about their future since the book had so little of them actually together in a relationship.
Ultimately, it was a good book for a debut. The writing flowed easily.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This lovers to enemies to lovers relationship will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time! If you’re looking for all the angst, hate, venomous words, passion, lust, and devotion then look no further. Abigail did a fantastic job describing the betrayal and heartbreak between Max and Cat. The amount of drama and manipulation is addicting. If you love mass amounts of drama and spice with your plot then definitely pick this baby up. Speaking of spice, there’s so much build up; so much tension between Max and Cat. You have one who’s filled with hate and disdain and lust, while the other is all gooey and wants nothing more than to worship. There were a couple little twists that I wasn’t expecting, character traits that have been switched. It was really cool to see the tables turned a bit. I can’t say it was a slow burn because of the amount of drama. Everything seems to happen so fast but too slow at the same time. I want more of that brutal, passionate, hate-to-love-you sex. But I also want to see them grow and dote upon each other.
First, I’d like to say THANK YOU Abigail Hunter for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Tearing You Apart! These are my honest thoughts.
Second, how is this Abigail’s first novel? It is SO. GOOD! The angst, the sparks, the tension, it all builds up so well with the dual POV going back and forth between Cat and Max. This is such a solid enemies to lovers, second chance, spicy and somewhat dark romance!
Cat is an attorney who has been tasked with helping her friend Bunny write up a pre-nup for her upcoming nuptials. When Bunny comes into her office for their meeting, Cat finds out that Bunny’s fiancée is none other than Max - the man who broke her heart 10 years ago.
The reasons for their initial breakup were not the best, but now that they’re back in each others lives will sparks fly like they did all those years ago? Will Cat fall from his bad-boy, rockstar charm once again or will they go their separate ways? You’ll have to read this one to find out & you definitely want to because the spice was A+!
I was given an ARC for an honest review and this book is a must read if you finally want a strong dominant female don’t get me wrong I love when I man takes charge in the bedroom but omg after reading this I think I need them to submit cause wow!! The cat and max buildup was worth the wait!
This was a strong 4 stars I think the only reason it wasn’t a 5 was because of the underlining conflict was kinda silly, if these two just spoke like adults and had some communication skills they would have gotten together so much sooner. I get build up but I wanted a dirty awesome reason to hate him. I don’t this certain conflict needed to drag out so long with these two.
Cat
I want him, and I hate him for it. Ten years ago he broke my heart, left me wasted, and now he's walking into my office engaged to my sister's best friend, and I can't stand it.
What an emotional rollercoaster that I would love ride again. I am glad I was offered an arc for my honest opinion because I got to read this amazing book before it was out. Misunderstandings, fights, trying to be out of each other's lives but realizing they were empty without one another. This book had me in chokehold. There were times where I didn't know who to be mad at but yet I couldn't put this book down. I wanted to keep reading until I knew exactly what was happening again. Catherine Fisher aka Kitty Cat is a strong woman who many should look up to her. She tried her best to keep the love of her life away knowing that without him she was only empty. Max Rider the badass rockstar who people did not know he had a soft heart who only beat for his kitty cat even though with all the misunderstandings she just wanted him away. I love how much the author included the songs he wrote for her. This book is a must read I totally recommend it.

If the genders were reversed on these two characters, and it was a man acting the way our female MC did I don’t think it would be as enjoyable to read. We read a lot of books where the men are the dominating ones and the women do the chasing. This is not the case for this book.
This is a second chance romance, so our characters had a different type of relationship their first time, but it seems that all the damage from their breakup has really turned Catherine in to a different person.
Catherine is dominating, demanding, and takes joy in hurting Max, it’s a bit of a fetish. She calls him a “good boy” and He’s totally into it! Which works for them. She’s so Icey and feels that anything romantic is gross, and says that Max has turned her into an idiot. Her saying she hates him means she loves him. This relationship certainly wouldn’t work for me, but it was a great read.
Read this book if you like spicy romance, a strong MC, rockstar vibes and a past full of romance then this book is for you!
In this book you follow Cat a boss lawyer and Max a rockstar who wants a second chance. They meet each other again after 10 years when Cat must be the lawyer of the arranged marriage of Max and Bunny.
Sparks fly from the very first page of the book. They still crave each other even though. Cat hates Max because of what he has done 10 years ago. Max never truly known why Cat left. This story is a slow burn romance. They have to clear the misunderstanding to live in the present.
There is a lot of spice and sexual tension between them. Cat isn't afraid of being the dominant one between the sheets.
The chapters were sometimes a little bit long for mine liking but I loved the switching povs. I would have loved to read more about Max and Cat together. Most of the book is about their second chance of romance.
this was such a fun read. I love a rockstar romance, and if you like men in eyeliner this one is definitely for you
Cat is the definition of a badass. you all know how much I love my strong, feisty FMCs and she is definitely that. she absolutely dominates (quite literally) and it was refreshing to read a book with a woman in control. I loved Max. I’m struggling to put why into words but I found him fun and he was a great contrast to Cat’s more intense character.
I thought the story had a good flow, there was a good amount of intrigue about their past, and I think the miscommunication piece of this was handled really well (miscommunication happened when they broke up 10 years before the story) I did struggle a little bit with Cat’s choices toward the end of the book but I can still see where she was coming from all things considered. overall I had a great time reading and getting to know Cat and Max
Thank you to @authorabigailhunter for sending me this ARC.
This book was really hell of a ride 😍.
It follows Cat a wealthy lawyer and the rockstar Max.
Max and Cat have a past and it’s over 10 years old, but even after all this time neither of them can move on from this.
When Cat's best friend Bunny asked for her help to prepare a prenup for her upcoming wedding, Cat was distraught to find out about Bunny’s fiancée. He is none other than Max, who broke her heart all those years ago.
As soon as Max and Cat are forced to have more contact you can see and feel this passion between them, this love and hate „game“ is so intense.
Cat hates Max, for all the things he did to her in the past and seeing him now makes her feel everything all over again, she has to dominate him, that’s her way of dealing with everything.
Abigail Hunter is really amazing in building up tensions between characters and letting it explode in amazing spice.
If you’re looking for a book with slow burn, a lot of chemistry and passion between the MC's that’s the perfect book for you. This book has so many good tropes involved: rockstar, second chance, enemies to lovers, best friends fiancée and miscommunication.
I don’t know why I always forget about rockstar romances or that I get sucked in but it always leads to a little happy dance of realization. Looking for a leading lady who takes charge (in and out of the bedroom) with all her feistiness? Or a man that leaves you sweating with angst and anticipation? Step on up, cause this rockin duo will pull you in.
I’ll come right out and say miscommunication is not my jam and this one went a tad heavy on it. Somehow it oddly works for me though? Don’t get me wrong, I still wanted to scream and throw the book at the characters over it but that’s gotta be a good thing right? Make sure you bring a glass of water because this one leans on the spicy side 🥵🥵🥵 These characters have gone through it and all the aches and pains wind up worth it.
For all my rockstar/second chance/spicy slow burn lovers- this one’s for you
Tearing You Apart by Abigail Hunter is out now on Kindle Unlimited.
Fast Facts: - Second Chance Romance - Rockstar x Lawyer - Dual POV - Slow burn - Spicy - He's OBSESSED with her - SHE dominates HIM - "fiery hate sex" < direct quote
Cat is a wealthy and successful lawyer. Max is the lead singer and guitarist of a famous rock band. The past that these two shared over 10 years ago is too powerful to let go of.
The author has done a phenomenal job telling this story and has shown how thin the line between Love and Hate really is. The build-up of tension was masterfully written and the pay-off was equally satisfying.
The only part I disliked about this story was that it has the miscommunication trope, which I personally hate but I believe the author did a fantastic job, especially for a debut.
RATING: 4/5⭐️
Thank you to the author for the eARC of your amazing novel!
I was completely blown away and in love with this book. Max was such a cutie and I loved how much he adored Cat. I could feel his passion right through the page. I loved Cat's personality too and how strong of a female lead she was. She is a complete goddess in the bedroom and the hotel room scene was probably the best piece of erotica I've ever read. Abigail is so talented at the sex scenes I couldn't put it down. She's so descriptive. My absolute fav character though was Bunny. I really hope Bunny gets her own story because I am so invested to see what happens to her.
I am so impressed by this book. I can't wait to see what else this author does and who's story she tackles next in the series. This is an author to keep an eye on.
This book is INTENSE. . A story about love that consumes you until all that’s left is raw emotion. 10 years have passed since the relationship that scarred her soul ended and Cat is about to take her first meeting of the day as a hotshot lawyer. Her little sisters best friend is getting married and she’s handling the prenup. Bunny is a rising social media celebrity who is best taken in small doses but since she is basically family Cat can deal with it. . When Bunny walks in and her fiancé follows Cat is paralyzed with shock and anger. Standing before her is the man who ripped her heart out 10 years ago Max Rider. Max is looking into the eyes of the only woman he’s ever loved. His muse. All he can feel is her power, her raw anger and NEED to cause him pain and he feels like his body has been touched by a live wire. This marriage to Bunny is fake. All a publicity stunt to help each others reputations. He’s been trying to get back into Cat’s world for years and he’s finally done it. . What happens next is an INTENSE story of love, pain, heartache, dominance and pleasure. Both Cat and Max are caught up in this spell. Cat is trying her best not to give in while Max is doing all he can to bring her back into his life. This is Abigail’s debut novel and I would just like to say well done! I was immediately intrigued by the characters and dying to learn more of their backstory as to why their feelings for each other are so intense and all consuming. You’re kept on edge just enough that you find yourself saying “just one more chapter” and failing miserably. The spice is laced throughout the story that its almost like it’s a character itself which was incredibly interesting to read.
Beautiful writing, characters, and plot. Tearing You Apart is a rockstar romance filled with spicy and seductive scenes. Rather than Cat being the submissive one amidst the heat, Max is instead. He would cut off his feet to let her walk taller if he had the option. Their relationship had me forgetting to blink for pages! The intimacy was written perfectly, as well as the communication. The spice is edged hard in the beginning, but it really gets down and dirty once the first scene happens. I LOVED this!! Abigail Hunter is now on my auto-buy author list because OMG!! . I recieved an ARC copy in exchange for a review.
