Bangers & Mash #7

Anonymous Alpha

Rate this book
When everything goes wrong and the world is set against him, who can a desperate omega in trouble turn to for help?

Evan

I should have been careful what I wished for, because after the most amazing and torrid heat I’ve ever experienced, I certainly got it! The glittery, bubblegum pop image that the record label created for me, the one I was so ready to move away from, has been blown out of the water, because someone leaked a tape of me and the ESA I’d hired to take me through heat.

And on top of that, despite precautions, I might have an even bigger “little” problem after that heat. I have no one to turn to but Sable, who the media is calling the “anonymous alpha”. I barely know him, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him.

Will he help me, or will he think I’ve ruined his life?

Sable

I’m used to helping high-profile omega clients, but nothing could have prepared me for the media firestorm when a tape of me and Evan Mercer hit the internet. Everyone is saying Evan leaked the tape on purpose to get out of his recording contract, but when I get a tearful, panicked call from Evan, an entirely different story comes out.

I will do whatever it takes to protect my omega, because Evan is mine now, even if it was just an ESA call that brought us together. I’m ready to stand by my man, and once we figure out who blasted his career and his life to bits, the gloves will come off and I’ll show the world just what it means to defend the man I love.

Anonymous Alpha is a stand-alone, an omega in distress, alpha to the rescue story in the Bangers & Mashseries. It contains a very good boy doing very, very bad things, the worst day ever, hidden cameras (not the good kind), an escape from the media, friends coming to the rescue, and Evan Mercer’s BIGGEST FAN EVER!!!

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a shifter series. But you know how the other books have had a warning that no omegas are impregnated during the course of the book? *whistles innocently*

Anonymous Alpha is the 7th book in the Bangers and Mash series. We have Alpha Sable, who we met in book 6 Alpha Versus Omega, which focused on his twin brother. He's been called out to help famous pop star Evan as an ESA through his heat.

Omega Evan has been a teen heartthrob for years. He's ready to shed his manufactured pop image for an authentic and mature version himself and have more control of his music. However, things go wrong when a sex tape of his heat gets secretly recorded and leaked turning the public, his record company and his fans against him.

I really enjoyed Anonymous Alpha; it's so far my favourite in the series. I loved Evan and Sable as a pair. He stood by Evan through all the shit show he went through when everyone turned against him. He also allowed Evan to be able to submit and allow his omega nature out without overstepping any boundaries. I always enjoy traditional alpha and omega dynamics in omegaverse, so it was a plus seeing that here.

M.M.Farmer is getting right up there in writing some of the best heat sex, and with each book it's getting better and better. I also liked that we got pregnancy and childbirth in this story. The other books in this series do not focus on pregnancy, and while it is not central to the plot of this story as well it was still nice seeing it.

Overall I really enjoyed Anonymous Alpha and looking forward to Arlo and Holden's story.

MM, Omegaverse, Bangers & Mash Series Book 7

I do so enjoy suspending disbelief when I read of the Omegaverse world created from the imagination of the authors.

This is my first helping of ‘Bangers and Mash’ and as per usual I’ve jumped into a series way down the numbered sequence. But it was so great a storyline and it is a standalone anyway. I will look at more of MM Farmers series which are not all based in Omegaverse. I like the variety.

The MC’s In ‘Anonymous Alpha’ are so good together, perfect Alpha Sable and his perfect Omega Evan. Evan is a famous singer and songwriter whose image as a cute innocent teenager is being maintained by his Manager/Management well past his actual age. He wants change and has informed them of his wishes. Dick Greeley his Manager isn’t very happy about that situation.

In the meantime Evan is due to go into Heat in a couple of weeks and has requested Bangers & Mash to provide an Alpha to help him through his second Heat. Enter Sable the No. 1 ESA at Banger & Mash.

Luckily both Evan and Sable’s personalities ‘click’ at first meet and when Evan’s Heat starts something magical happens for both of them over the following days.

Shortly after his Heat is over, Evan’s public image and his career lies in ruins following images of him being shown all over the Internet with his Alpha. The media has a feeding frenzy on the scandal and want to know the identity of the Anonymous Alpha.

So, Evan has a fight on his hands to find who did this to him and Sable promises to be by his side all the way.

There are two side characters here who get to tell their own stories, Arlo, an avid fan of Evan’s, and Holden a Heat Research Scientist at Bangers & Mash. ‘Heat Lightening’ follows those two next and I already have it waiting on my TBR, Happy Me 😊🥰

If you like Omegaverse, Mpreg genre ‘Anonymous Alpha’ will be a treat read for you so grab a copy and enjoy.

Cute omegaverse pop star romance

This is definitely one of the entries I enjoyed the most in the series.

I liked the premise behind it and I really liked both Evan and Sable individually and as a matched pair.

The plot worked well within the setting and it wasn't filled with dramatic changes just for the sake of it.

I thought it was handled well and the pacing was great, with tension building up to the big conclusion of spoiling the villains plot.

As with the rest, there's the usual omegaverse staples with the heat sex. It's not always my favourite thing to read about as it can become a bit too "p***ny" within the sub-genre on occasion but here it worked for the narrative.

Very steamy and fluffy omegaverse story with endearing MCs.

As an ESA, Sable helps high-profile omegas through their heats with the utmost professionalism. That is, until he meets Evan, a pop superstar, and is immediately smitten with the beautiful man. After a non-consensually recorded tape of their very consensual, very dirty sex is leaked to the press and Evan is dragged through the mud, Sable steps up as his alpha as they muddle their way through the fallout together.

This got off to a great start, I really liked both characters from the beginning. They managed to have an instalust connection and then dive into the fun of heat sex without their relationship being completely rushed. It felt like there was a lot of respect between them which was nice, and they manage to openly discuss their roles/dynamic and find something that works for them both.

The way Evan is vilified by the press, and even his own fans is devastating and unfortunately probably quite realistic. I really sympathised with Evan’s need to grow past his innocent stage persona and I can’t even imagine trying to navigate those life changes while also in the spotlight. Let me tell you, I’ve never had any desire to be famous, and that’s just reinforced when reading a story like this.

The sex was…phew. Very hot. And also varied. I didn’t realise there would be any kink in this, and though it’s not stated explicitly Evan definitely has a bit of a humiliation kink and likes to be dominated. It plays nicely into the biological aspect of ABO and they both mention their internal struggles with the idea, and how the modern world expects them to control those urges.

Speaking of omegaverse, the slick had so much presence it was almost like a character. It gushes, it leaks, it drips, it squirts. This might not work for some, but it worked for me.

I also appreciated that the heat sex wasn’t a completely mindless affair where the omega turns into something no better than an animal. In between waves they manage to have rational conversations, discuss sexual preferences and get consent for various acts. Nice!

I'm personally not a fan of the surprise baby trope, but it wasn't poorly executed here and was really only used to cement Evan and Sable's fledgling bond and not as a source of conflict.

The conflict portion of the book was far too dramatic for my tastes though. I thought it was a good premise, but it got dragged out a bit too much. The villain was unfortunately a bit of a cartoon caricature, and the resolution just had me groaning and rolling my eyes.

I liked the message that it’s perfectly normal to have a healthy sex life, and be a bit kinky, but I thought it could be conveyed a bit more forcefully. Though Sable mentions several times to Evan that he has no reason to be ashamed of his desires, it’s never addressed outside of their relationship, when Evan is being publicly shamed for it and having fans shout at him, accusing him of perverting their children. That just made me sad.

All in all, I'd recommend this as a nice, fluffy, sexy omegaverse read, and I'll probably go check out some of the author's other books!

I kindly received an ARC from the author. All opinions are my own.

easy going

I enjoyed the the easiness of this book. You knew who done it, the love came easy, the HEA was easy. I do wish it gave us a little more of knowledge surrounding how the bond worked. That was lacking explanation but other than that it was good. I love the struggle of needing to be strong and independent but also allowing one to be soft and need help. The smexy was hawt. The side characters were cool. Wish there were more diversity. 2023 folks we do exist

Well...

I know... it doesn't really explain much, does it?
Some books are like that though.. You finish them and they leave you conflicted and confused, so the best way to describe what you thought is - it's complicated. Maybe it is because my relationship with omegaverse is complicated. You see, this book has the one thing I do not understand and therefore do not like in mpreg - "my inner alpha" and "my inner omega". With shifters, it is all pretty straightforward - inner animal, separate being, but part of the whole, the same person. So "my inner this" or "my inner that" makes sense. However, when it is omegaverse without the shifter part and characters go all "my inner omega" or "my inner alpha", then what are those? Are they ghosts? Are the characters possessed? Are they just spirits trapped in their bodies? Do they all have multiple personality disorders? What are they, that they get referred to in the 3rd person like that? I mean, they could be "my omega instincts" or "my alpha instincts", which would be just part of their personalities, like protective instincts, submissive instincts etc., but why are they "my inner omega" and "my inner alpha"? And with actions too. Like "my inner omega was purring". Is it a cat? Even though they can't shift, do they still carry animal spirits inside? What do you mean by "my inner omega" and "my inner alpha"?! What are those beings?! Where do they come from?! How are they a part of you?! Are they like a separate part or you just like referring to yourself in 3rd person?! Ugh. So confusing!
So that is why I do not like that. And since it is quite a thing in this book... Well.. That put me off quite a bit. It is not like the book is bad. It really isn't. It is just that it doesn't quite fit my worldview. Like the thing I really, really didn't appreciate - "ignoring a taken omega as a sign of respect". Well. I would hardly call it a sign of respect. It is more along the lines of "You are taken, so you are of no interest to me as a person, because I can't have sex with you, so I will just talk to the person now in charge of you as if you don't exist at all". At least to me that is what it sounds like. Ignoring people because they are in a relationship only proves how they are valued as sex partners only, besides which they have no value as personalities as soon as the sex option is out of the question, which totally makes me bristle. Not to mention how it implies that as soon as omega enters a relationship with alpha, alphas have a right to represent omegas everywhere, because god forbid omegas would answer for themselves now that they have big, strong alphas to do it for them, because omegas are so weak and delicate, they need the big, strong alphas to decide everything for them. Omegaverse in general tends to be archaic and somewhat stereotyped, but in this one, I felt it more strongly than usual, which didn't endear the characters or the story to me. The story itself isn't bad, if a bit too dragged out. The characters are nice enough, the plot moves on, writing is fine. However, I am still left conflicted, because while it is a nice enough story, it has several aspects that just rub me the wrong way.

M.M. Farmer's "Anonymous Alpha" came out yesterday. It's the seventh book in her Bangers & Mash series (I'm not squealing...you are).

Evan and Sable. Holy. Fucking. Hell. I mean, come ooooonnnnn. They were just D: so. damn. much. In all of the good ways. There was an instant connection. Then there was instant steam. There were also instant red flags (not between them) and instant troubles/horrors. But Sable stood by Evan (except for that one flash of a moment that was driven by hurt) and protected him at all costs. As the drama grew, so their did their bond. It was glorious and warm and sweet, and they were perfect together, even in the face of it all.

Evan and Sable's Story . . .

Evan, a singer celebrity loved by his fans, was going into heat. His nasty manager, Dirk, had arranged for a friend of his to get Evan through his heat, but Evan refused and arranged for a reputable Emergency Support Alpha ("ESA") from Bangers & Mash. Sable is his ESA who services the high-profile VIP omega clients through their heat. In their preliminary meeting, Dirk was rude and told Evan he didn’t like Sable Jessup. But Evan absolutely did like him immediately and would not back down from his decision. Because of his celebrity, Evan was a VIP client and everything was locked down for privacy.

They spent the explosive heat cycle together and Sable was attentive, caring, and the absolute perfect alpha for getting Evan through this and caring for his every need. Both of them felt the experience was “different” than it had ever been with anyone else in the past. It almost felt like they were bonding. But Evan was making a major change in his career, shedding the teenage veneer and doing a different kind of music as an adult under new management. He was also getting rid of his manager Dirk who wanted him to stay a teen pop-star forever and continue to make him rich. That was not going to happen, however. Evan was switching to another recording companty that would give him the freedom he needed to be himself; and he was firing Dirk.

Neither Evan nor Sable knew that someone had been violating their privacy during the heat period until a tape of them was leaked to the public, shattering Evan’s sweet teen-boy image and shocking his fans. It also damaged Sable’s anonymity by revealing his identity and his job with ESA. But the public disclosure wasn’t the only surprise Evan faced. Will Sable return to help him through all of this? Will he find out who did this and give them some payback? Or will he be angry that his own privacy has been ripped apart and stay far away from further trouble?

Sweet, steamy fun.

I’m not the target audience for most omegaverse stories, especially those featuring an unplanned pregnancy, but occasionally I’ll try one bc the premise/world seems interesting. Usually I’m disappointed as it often devolves into the standard uncontrollable, biologically determined smut and/or socially degraded omega world with an alpha that’s “one of the good ones”. Thankfully, this isn’t one of those as it incorporates the biological drives and unfair societal hierarchies inherent in most a/b/o stories in a more balanced way that allows the MCs to be surprised by and slightly wrestle with who they are as ppl versus what their genetics provoke in them. Farmer does a good job introducing Evan and Sable and making their early connection as much about liking one another as their combustible chemistry during Evan’s heat.

As much as I enjoyed Evan and Sable’s relationship, I equally enjoyed how Farmer employs the alpha-for-hire concept, fleshing it out to be a company whose mission focuses on omega rights, heat assistance with their Emergency Support Alphas and supportive research initiatives. The author also does a great job in showing how dehumanizing, terrible, and terrifying being a public figure can be, especially once almost everyone decides you’ve wronged them. I did struggle with the antagonist and how that plays out as the person is pretty much a mustache-twirling villain who keeps getting unprecedented access to Evan that seems unnecessary as well as unquestioned support at times given his obvious vitriol, motive and sneering demeanor in front of reporters. And while the plot does make good points about how limited Evan and Sable are in how they can respond and what they can prove, the resolution is as signposted and one-note as the villain. That being said, this is a quick, fun read, and can be enjoyable for those who aren’t into most omegaverse fare.

An instant attraction
Evan is a popstar who has got a huge following. His fans are loyal. Evan is an Omega and he knows that his heat is coming soon so he contacts bangers and mash to get a ESA to help him through it. His manager would prefer him to use an alpha that he knows but Evan is determined to get his way.
Sable Works in finance but he also is a trained ESA for bangers and mash. He has a big respect for a omega’s and what they go through in their heats so if he can help them get through this intense time he’s happy to help. But when he meets Evan there is an instant attraction between them he can feel it and he is happy to help. The meeting went well so they agreed to meet at Evans’s apartment when he started his heat in about two weeks.
The moment that sable gets the cool that Evan has started his heat he can’t wait to get there he’s thought about him non-stop since he saw him two weeks ago. When they meet that attraction has increased he can tell that Evans thought about him too. They spend an intense heat together, their Chemistry is insane. It’s explosive it’s heaven it’s everything you want it to be. So will they part at the end of the heat or will they make a go of it? Evan also has a lot of changes going on in his life. He wants to change record companies and get rid of his manager so what will he decide?
Honestly these two are perfect for one another, I really like the chemistry between them and the support and the trust they have for one another But when something goes wrong Can I be there for each other?? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The storyline will play with your emotions. But the ending will make your heart sing.

I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series so went into it completely blind. I found it fascinating the whole idea of having a service where alphas would help omegas through their heats and enjoyed the way that this was handled in the book – the sex work aspect of this was handled very professionally which was nice to see.

Evan is ready to move on from his teeny-bopper image – and his awful manager. Once he’s through this heat, his contract will be up with the record company and he can outwardly become the grown-up they refuse to allow him to be. His manager is a complete sleaze who sees Evan as a cash-cow and is not happy at the changes ahead.

Into this mix comes Sable, an Emergency Support Alpha, who feels a pull towards Evan that he’s never experienced before in all of his time helping omegas through their heats. He certainly isn’t expecting a sex tape to be released, labelling him as Evan’s anonymous alpha and splashing the time they spent together all over the press.

The 180 turn of the media and some of the fans towards Evan at this negative happening felt a little too realistic – we all know that the press loves nothing more than a scandal and this is a huge scandal. How Evan and Sable find their way through the terrible situation that they’re placed in whilst adjusting to their new bond and a surprise pregnancy makes for an interesting story.

It is light and doesn’t dwell too much on the negative side of fame and the role that social media plays in that, but the subject is touched on and I appreciated that. Otherwise, this is a fated-mates/insta-love story with some hot, very kinky sex and a fight for justice that was entertaining.

Wow, I was not expecting this to stand out as much as it did! I was pleasantly surprised by how much this outshined the others. Now, don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the other books in this series. But this one is definitely my favorite!

Evan was a shock for sure! I wasn't expecting him to have so many layers to who he is as a person. He's a celebrity, yes, but he is soo much more than that. He wants someone to want to be with him because they like him, not just his money. Someone who wants to know the real Evan, not just the bubblegum popstar everyone assumes he is.

And Sable, oh what a sweet alpha. He is definitely more of an 'alpha' than the other characters have been, in the sense that he lets his inner alpha instincts take control. But both him and Evan enjoy being with each other and love each other for who they are.

Now, I was not expecting how spicy this book was going to be. All of the past books have had a lot of spicy times, it's kind of a given considering what the series is based on. But this one has the most spice out of the rest of the books. But it fit with the characters and the plot, it wasn't just added to be a filler.

I enjoyed the element of taking down the ones responsible for what happened to Evan, that was a nice twist. I also enjoyed Arlo, he was such a supportive super fan, he just wanted to help Evan clear his name.

And I loved that this book had mpreg! None of the other books have had that so far, but this one did! And it was incredible!

I'm so excited for Heat Lightning, and I can't wait for it to come out!.

ANONYMOUS ALPHA is the seventh book in the Bangers & Mash series although I didn't know this when I started reading it. It can absolutely be read as a standalone although I am now curious as to the other couples, some of which I think we met in here.

Anyway, this is Sable and Evan's story. Sable is an Alpha who can be contracted to help with an Omega's heat - all above board, nothing to worry about. Evan is an Omega nearing his heat who hires Sable. He is a pop star nearing the end of his contract with his label and his manager. The manager wants to stick around and isn't afraid of using threats to try and get his own way. Seeing where things are going??

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Yes, it was obvious who it was, and obvious where the help was going to come from, but, you know what? None of that spoilt the story! It was steamy and sensual, with Sable giving Evan both freedom to be who he needed to be and the support he wanted. The steamy scenes nearly set fire to my Kindle, so fair warning!

It was smoothly written and character led making this a brilliant story. I'm definitely interested in the next book in the series, but I'm also very interested in the ones that have come before. Definitely recommended by me.

Good shit:
🎤 Sable and Evan's instant attraction
🎤 consensual kinky heat sex
🎤 open communication re: kinky heat sex
🎤 no insecure omega BS
🎤 possessive alpha who literally lived for his omega
🎤 lots of snuggles and cuddles
🎤 their bond
🎤 the introduction of Arlo and Holden
🎤 alpha Sable was so fucking hot even outside of the bedroom

As I stepped back, I hit the solid wall of Sable’s body. Just like he’d said, he was right there with me, my strength and my shield. I loved him so much that it made the pandemonium erupting around me fade into an annoying buzz. I would be fine, better than fine, as long as I had my alpha with me.

I loved these two guys together so so much. I loved the plot of the leaked sex tapes and finding out how to prove that the slimy manager did it ... until it became comical and ridiculous and way over the top. The manager was a total moron, and it just didn't make sense how he kept popping up while everyone just ... let him sit there and say stupid shit? I don't even know, it was so absurd.

Fair warning: the heat sex is kiiiiiiinky AF. By far the kinkiest sex of the series, and they were not shy about doing everything with Evan's slick and Sable's come. Jesus.

But it's a lighthearted book, cute storyline until it wasn't, and a super hot couple who didn't have the angsty "should we or shouldn't we" theme that has been prevalent in a lot of the B&M books. So while the storyline became rather insane, I still gave it 4.5 stars for Sable and Evan together. Absolute favorite series couple!

I love that Evan and Sable have such distinct personalities, are genuinely likeable characters, and that they do feel a spark of attraction during their first meeting, before they meet again to get Evan through his heat - which is some absolutely wonderful, filthy, debauched, combustible sexy times. Some word usage and other kinky acts that could be construed as demeaning, except for the fact both partners revel in their consensual shenanigans. I liked that they had actual conversations during the waves of Evan's heat, and began getting to know one another a bit.
However, while I liked the concept of the chaos that happened, I feel too much time was spent resolving the issue of who leaked the tape and getting proof of the obvious villain.
You could feel the beginnings of their connection, their bond, but by the end, it didn't quite feel solidified enough.
I did find it a bit strange that they refered to their alpha and omega selves as if they are almost another being - like how some wolf shifters refer to their wolves as part of them, but separate.
The beginning was great and the epilogue was wonderfully executed and sweet, but the middle needed a bit more time on developing their connection.
Also, I found Arlo to be an endearing secondary character and I can't wait for his story.
Overall, this was a good story with a sweet HEA.

I received an ARC from GRR, this is my honest opinion.

I think this is the 7th book in the Bangers and Mash series and it certainly did not disappoint. I’m impressed that MM Farmer is able to keep creating unique, fun, and HOT storylines for ESAs and omegas. This series has been an auto-buy for me though I was lucky to receive a copy of this one from GRR (yay!).

I liked both Sable and Evan straight away (which doesn’t always happen) and their immediate affection with one another was precious. Their dynamic in the bedroom was off the charts and the kinky sess was just *mwah*. I appreciated both of their internal (and vocalized) struggles with how they felt - acting like an overprotective alpha / submissive omega who likes being dominated - and the conversations they had around that. A few times I think it would’ve been nice if Sable stuck up a bit more for Evan’s kinks but I also got that he was trying not to overstep.

It was rough to read how brutal the press and fans were towards Evan and I was actually pretty upset by that. As a private person it was devastating to see Evan shamed for things he never wanted public. I wouldn’t have kept my cool as well as Sable.

The villain was almost too villainous for me, he was over the top terrible and it took other folks too long to realize how godawful he was. I think out of all the Banger and Mash books this one had me the most stressed, though I was glad it wasn’t because of the MCs being dumb 😅

Omega Evan was a pop star who had a young image thanks to his record label and manager but wanted to move to a more mature sound. But he had to get through a heat first and so had called on a Bangers & Mash ESA for help. However, someone leaked a doctored video of him with the ESA who took him through the most amazing heat which created a little problem for him. Will the so-called anonymous alpha help him or turn away? Alpha Sable was used to helping high-profile clients but nothing prepared him for the media storm after the tape containing him and Evan was released let alone the rumours that Evan leaked it himself. But after a panicked phone call from Evan Sable is clear - he will do whatever it takes to protect his omega because Evan is his now and he will defend him while they work out who released the tape and has been trying to keep his career.

I loved this story with the determined alpha and the omega he took through heat and was not only bonded to but they share a common problem between them. I loved their relationship and that they had the help of one of Evan's biggest fans to thank for finding them a solution and proof. This was easy to read, feel and understand especially the betrayal and violation of the tape and press coverage. This is an MM story with mature content set in the Omegavarse including mpreg.

This is book 7 of the Bangers & Mash Series and it can be enjoyed as a stand alone. This is the story of Evan and Sable. Evan is a bubble gum pop star and omega. He has outgrown that image but his record label isn't seeing the growth. Why change a known money maker. But Evan has had enough. After his next heat, he will be signing with a different label. Not everyone is happy about that decision. As a pop star, he needs to have his heat dealt with quietly and confidentially. Enter Sable. He is an ESA who has a reputation of discretion while dealing with his high profile clients. As an alpha, he feels a responsibility to help omegas through their heats to that the rest of their lives will belong to them alone. When the two of them are thrown head first into a media storm by betrayal, they work together to fight against accusations levied against them. This is their story. I really liked both characters and the chemistry between them. They shared honestly and respect. The perfect foundation for a relationship. This book is well written and easy to read. I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to the next one in this series.

This is a somewhat different addition to this lovable series.
Quite intense, this story!
Plenty of angst, lots of sexy times. Some illegal activity by a sneaky villain, but with good, solid closure.
(I like that.)
I'm not a huge fan of whodunnits in romance novels, and tend to avoid cops & robbers unless they are specifically intended as comedy, but the author included this storyline in a way that keeps you interested.
Her plot is consistent and well thought out, so you don't reach the end and think: ah, but what about that guy? What became of him?
All loose ends are well tied, and the overall story, well rounded.
I found, however, that at times the narrative became somewhat repetitive and therefore a tad annoying. (too many references to "the bond" for example)
By and large, I loved this couple together, and I loved each character individually.
I liked the mpreg aspect, and also liked that it was woven beautifully into the story without it becoming the entire story.
A well deserved 4 stars.
* dual first person pov
* heat - 500 🔥
* plentiful intrigue but no violence
* standalone
* omegaverse

ARC received from GRR for an honest review.

Evan is an omega pop star who hires a professional Alpha to help him through his next heat. Everything goes amazingly well until a sex tape of them hits the internet. A sex tape that has been altered to make Evan look like an ungrateful, slutty, AH to his fans. On top of this his birth control didn't work and now he has a bun in the oven to think about. It seems like his world is crumbling and he only has one person who he can turn to, Sable.

Sable is a money manager and a professional Alpha in his spare time. He's more than ready to help Evan in his time of need but the extra trouble of having his bare self all over the internet is another thing; especially when it looks like the omega did this on purpose. When Evan calls him will he give him the chance to explain?

This is a long drawn out book that spent too much time on the who did what and not enough time on the two MCs getting to know each other IMO. I didn't feel like they really had a lasting connection past the sexual attraction. After the baddie is exposed the book is rushed to an ending. I needed more Evan and Sable and less Dirk. Arlo was a very pleasant addition to the book and it would have been better if he was in it more than Dirk.

This is another enjoyable installment in the Bangers & Mash series with really interesting characters who play off each other well as they find their bonded mate, and unexpected problems threatening to tear the two apart in one way or another.

Omega Evan is an established pop star due to go into heat soon, and he hires Alpha Sable through Bangers & Mash to take him through his heat. The two have a strong attraction to each other beforehand, and both can feel the bond forming between them as the heat progresses. Intending to stay in touch after the heat ends, life interrupts their plans until a crisis causes Evan to reach out to Sable. Sable responds to protect his (unexpectedly) pregnant mate and keep him safe while they work toward a solution to the crisis and a HEA.

I loved both characters and the chemistry between them as the bond strengthened, the secondary characters added to the interest as the crisis evolved, and justice at the end added to the satisfaction of the tale. Looking forward to the next book to come in the series and an explanation of Heat Lightning.

Evan was getting older and was ready to move on from his young pop image. When he tries to do that, tapes of his heat with a hired ESA are leaked and made to look that Evan did it. Their time together was amazing and now he may have another problem as a result of that togetherness. He has no choice but to turn to Sable, the man the media is dubbing “anonymous alpha”. Sable enjoys helping omegas go through a heat but helping Evan was a different experience and left him with deep emotions. He is willing to help and to protect his omega no matter what.

What happened to Evan was despicable. No one should have to go through what these two endured even if it did cause them to come back together. The media storm the tapes caused was beyond belief, well, maybe not. It was well orchestrated and really scary with the thought it could easily be a reality. There was one super fan who came to the rescue. His determination was what saved the day. How? You may ask that but it will be answered when you pick up this well-written story. This is a multi-author series and the other stories must be incredible to read. More reading for me coming up.

Tiny spoiler at the very end ...

I can honestly say this is one of the best Omegaverse stories I've read in a long time. There's enough world-building to make this believable on so many levels, from the alphas who help omegas in heat as a public service to the discussions of biological imperatives that neither an alpha nor an omega who are bonded to each other can avoid. Evan Mercer, the famous music sensation, and Sable Jessup, the Emergency Support Alpha hired to help him through his heat, discover that everything they've heard but not really believed about bonding is true. This is a good thing for Evan when his life comes crashing down around him in the most public and humiliating of ways. How they navigate the stormy waters of public opinion as they learn to love and trust each other is really sweet, and the sexy times are quite something else. I'm not especially a fan of the kink, but it didn't detract from the growing emotions between them, which I was very much engaged with throughout. Sable is my favorite ... he's a doll!

Just one negative thing ... where exactly did that baby come out of? Improbable!!!

Penultimate book of this series. Excellent plot and characters, with another very satisfying denouement (not something that this author is always consistent at, so I very much enjoy when it's there.) I also like that the tales in this series are fairly short; a lovely one-day read for me, probably a super quickie for those who set land speed records with their reading.

That said, my cons for this, as for all this author's work: super heavy on the sex scenes, copious amounts of dripping, spurting fluids featuring too many repetitions of my most hated word for come.
I've reached the point of skimming past these parts, but the stories aside from this are good enough to keep me going. I'm also really not a fan of omegaverse; only the fact that M. M. Farmer actually does tell a decent story within this genre keeps me hooked. From the few omegaverse authors I've sampled, I get the impression that the target audience is one that prefers their heat filled with slick and semen, preferably with the three-letter word for come, archaic societal stratification, and not so much with a story line. Excellent if you love it, but not my jam. 3.5 stars rounded up.

I had a ball! I literally read it in one sitting; I couldn't let it go until the book ended.

I can hardly recommend this series - and this book - with no reservations. Each book in the series and in her oeuvre is better than the last; including characters from previous stories creates a sense of community and context for the society the alternative biology creates that is both alien and familiar to our sensibilities.

Farmer is perceptive and expressive. And, as far as I'm concerned, "I've got you" is the greatest literary creation since knotting. The ideas about biology and humanity speak volumes to me, from book to book.

The feminist underpinnings (substitute "women" for "omega", and you'll see what I mean) inform and deepen the narrative.
Each one of Farmer's book has philosophical underpinnings that support her craft in narrative construction and character development. Her thoughts about fame and its perils folds neatly into the narrative as it does into the development of the characters.

Anonymous Alpha by MM Farmer is my favorite in the Bangers & Mash series so far! This book has everything: engaging characters, emotional situations, amazing chemistry, cameos by characters from earlier books in the series, and a protective alpha. Let’s not forget the super steamy scenes too!

Merry is one of my one-click authors on Amazon. This book is an excellent example of why! Her character development is top-tier. I’m never concerned about her plot development either. I follow her on social media, and I’ve seen her post that her characters talk to her and sometimes they don’t cooperate with her original vision. I don’t know if Evan and Sable cooperated with her or if they caused her to alter the story, but either way…I LOVED it!

I also enjoyed how she teased Arlo and Holden’s upcoming adventures. I’m here for all the Bangers & Mash stories yet to be told!.

This is one of my favourite installments of the series. Evan is the pop singer who wants to be taken seriously as an artist and arranges to have his heat with Sable.

Sable is great, an alpha who loves taking care of Evan, they do have chemistry and Evan feels Sable takes him as a person, not just a teen favourite celebrity.

When a tape hits the internet Evan's world is crashing down and Sable the only person left to help him out.

While the culprit was fairly obvious and the storyline a bit too easy and predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The heat scenes are a bit more graphic than in other books in this series but it shows how Evan the person is more than a bubble teen pop singer.

I would have loved some glance into their future.

There is a hint on the next couple and I think that will also be a fun book to read, can't wait for it.

I really enjoyed reading this story about Evan Mercer the teen pop sensation who goes into heat and hires B&M to provide an alpha to take him through his heat, Sable that is chosen to service Evan. Evan has a controlling manager who wants to take charge of his heat and use another alpha he knows, Evan has told his manager that he is going to fire him once his contract is over, his manager Dirk doesn’t take it well and threatens him. After his heat is over, a video is released to the Internet of Evan and Sable and this destroys his music career, when his fans turn against him. Sable and Evan do everything they can to prove his innocence, and they learn that they are going to be fathers. It all works out in the end and they have a happy ever after.

Another amazing story from Merry.
Outside forces are attempting to tarnish Evan. However, Sable will not let that happen. While the drama causes issues at first, Sable sees the truth in his omega and vows to make sure everything is corrected. They have this amazing, and intense, bond right away. They both feel different when they meet, which starts what is bound to grow into something more. They lean on each other in ways they never reached out to someone before. They build their relationship and learn about one another in all of their free time. Their love grows as they navigate through the drama that is attempting to break Evan. I adore them so much. I read this story first from the series. (I know, I know) Its 100% a standalone and I've already lined up the others to start. It was cute, full of love and passion, with the right amount of drama. A total win.

I love how an alpha instinctively protects their omega mate, and this story does it so well, and in spades. The connection between Evan and Sable is intense, both during the heat and outside of it & I like how they don’t mess around trying to deny their feelings. It’s hard to witness the complete mess that is made of Evan’s world, and I felt embarrassed for him, but it’s lovely how Sable comforts and protects him. I love the interactions between these two, the way they fall into traditional roles at times, and not at others. This was a new series for me, so I read the first in the series, ‘How to Train Your Alpha’ beforehand, and I’m glad I did, because that book extensively describes omega biology and heats and the function of the ESAs, and provides good background knowledge. I really enjoyed ‘Anonymous Alpha’ and I’m keen to read more in the series.
