Rate this book
Come to God's peace table, where there's room for everyone.
From beginning to end, the Bible reminds us that we are made in God's image and that God's table has room for us all. The Peace Table is a comprehensive family storybook Bible that makes God's presence and peace real to children of all ages.
In these pages, readers young and old will encounter biblically faithful retellings of 140 stories from Scripture. Stunning artwork from 30 illustrators invites children to see themselves reflected in God's story. Woven alongside each Bible story are prayer prompts, questions, and action ideas to guide family reflection and conversation. Twelve "peace paths" encourage children to explore the ways that peace themes are woven throughout the Old and New Testaments. A resource section includes ideas for how to experience peace with God, self, others, and creation, as well as maps, background information on the Bible, interactive ways to pray, and prayers for many occasions.

Really enjoyed the beautiful art and the choice to center less popular stories from the Bible. Still deviated sometimes from the text, as most Bible story books tend to. Still, one of the best I've read. The creative prayer time ideas were meaningful for us.

Come to God’s peace table, there’s room for everyone.

From Genesis to Revelation, the Word God has given us in the Bible reminds us that we are made in God’s image and that God’s table has room for us all. The Peace Table is a storybook Bible for families that brings God’s presence and peace real to children.

In The Peace Table you will enjoy the biblically faithful retellings of stories from Scripture. The artwork is stunning and has been created by 30 different illustrators. At the conclusion of each brief Bible story are prayer prompts, questions, and action ideas to guide family reflection and conversation.
Then for practical application, there ate 12 “peace paths” to. encourage children to explore the ways that peace themes are woven throughout the Old and New Testaments. I really like the, once again, practical applications for ways to pray. There is a path you move your finger and stop at each part of the community and pray, for school, church, friends, a park for creation, etc. Following this are two pages entitled Peace With Others with ideas for resolving conflicts with friends, family, enemies and strangers.
The Peace Table is an excellent resource for families who want their children to love Jesus, grow in faith, and become peacemakers in a world filled with turmoil.

I am notoriously critical and picky when it comes to storybook Bibles, but “The Peace Table” blew nearly all my expectations and requirements out of the water. Muecke, Pittman Morrell, and Pecinovsky did such an incredible job with this resource. From the care in the letters to families at the beginning, to the stories chosen and translation choices made, to the over two dozen stories of women from the Bible that are so often forgotten or minimized in other children’s storybook Bibles, to the incredible illustration team who made this Bible not only a joy to read but a joy to see, this Storybook Bible is top tier work.

As a a person of faith and new pastor, one of the faith practices I have often noticed seems sticky or hazy for adults with children is prayer. Prayer can seem to be tricky to explain at times, especially if adults ourselves don’t quite know what to make of it. So to see so many prayer resources throughout this book that make prayer accessible not only to children but to adults as well was such a welcome surprise.

I really enjoyed the “Shine Storybook Bible” that came before this one, but I do think “The Peace Table” has taken my number one spot on my list of Storybook Bibles I can comfortably recommend to family, friends, and parishioners. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy! I’m child-free myself but this book is a new favorite on my shelf; my inner child absolutely loved it.

We REALLY enjoyed this. The stories are not just the same stories as every other childrens Bible, and we REALLY like the thought provoking questions at the end of each. The only thing we were disappointed about was that the Lord's prayer was paraphrased. They really missed an opportunity for children to learn the Lord's prayer that is recited in most churches regularly. we are going to keep this and probably reread it again every few years to really get better perspectives as the children grow
