I adore this series so much, it has quickly earned a spot on my favorites shelf. While I didn't love this book as much as the first, I had an absolute blast reading (listening to) it. It's absolutely mind blowing that this entire story takes place in the course of what- a day? SO MUCH HAPPENS. In this volume you get a plethora of fun and crazy new characters introduced, so much more character development for Loon- so many feeeeelings! There's banter, more fighting, more shenanigans! Things are starting to come together and I am cannot wait to see what happenes next.
As mentioned in my review for book one, I listened to the audio of these and the narrator is just perfection. Probably my favorite narrator of all time.

A lot of good humor, but that shit sure does drag on. The entire book covers just a few hours of story. Progress sacrificed in the name of overdone verbal banter. Sweet Christmas there were more than a few times I wondered if anything was actually going to happen. The narrator was great, but also over the top just a bit too often. Production needs to figure out audio normalization. One moment raucous barbarian epitaphs, the next moment, whispering dialogue. For the love of all that is holey, please figure a consistent volume.

Its an odd thing, though book 2 took place over a single day vs book 1's full week, the pacing felt more natural, less frantic.
We finally see some much needed character development while still keeping some of the immaculate trash talking that has become a staple in the series. All of the action is more deliberate and easy to follow around a story that was neatly wrapped up though, still open to a sequel.

I love this so much, it's too funny and I believe Johnathan McClain's talent really makes it awesome 🤣❤️ It's nice to hear Gabe's internal struggles and how he has the chance to grow and change, but really it just reinforces his behavior. Some people may not find that interesting, but I see it as factual. Change is painfully slow when working on yourself.

It was a wild ride, but man I really started to hate Loon's utter lack of growth.
He's a giant, dumb child with a bad 'tude. It's exactly as a D&D DM might write a shenanigan-lad barbarian character.
But. Get. A. Move. On.
The writing is fantastic, but the story arc drags on achingly slow. Having fun, but losing interest in the same anger-centric comedy core.
It was a wild ride, but man I really started to hate Loon's utter lack of growth.

I enjoyed reading this as much as the first book. I was pretty curious about where the story would go after Book 1. Book 2 was fun, action-packed, and hilarious. I was entertained especially with the MC's snark.

This is one of the funniest books I've read.
For anyone with allergies to dumb humor, beware, it's littered with profanities, stupid $#!T, and nonsensical banter.
It's even better than the first book. More action, more word play, more rage, more humor, more tragedy. Good stuff, I love it!

To me it felt like the author took one step too close to dungeon crawler Carl. It started to feel like fan fiction of that book. Also some of the humor of this book fell flat to me compared to the first book.

the story of Loon continues, and with it the fun and chaos he brings. the story is somewhat condensed this time, so it fits the time constraints and it probably suffers for that. but the (occasionally juvenile) jokes and fun is still there, and the narrator Jonathan McClain is as amazing as always.

Barbarian gets a new ghost master, fights a new nemesis. Finds himself and his companions inside a giant insect. Again fights his nemesis, and Stinky again kills the said nemesis. Gets to level 12.

This audiobook is such a marriage for voice acting and content. I just lost it when I heard RG's voice. Fantastic.

The audiobook was funny and entertaining. But the constant stream of bashing and lucky victories felt a little bit too shallow in this one. I might give the next book in the series a chance.
