Brighton was a gangly awkward teenager the last time he saw his dad’s best friend Zander. Six years later, Brighton’s an adult, and still very aware Zander is hot.
As an aerialist in the Black Cat Circus, raven-shifter Brighton has honed his skills in the air. On the ground, not so much. He’s best friends with a cat—the circus mascot—and reads in his free time. But despite his seemingly quiet nature, Brighton knows what he wants. Zander.
Zander is freshly retired from a career in the military and eager for a new adventure. The circus awaits! Unfortunately, his best friend retired from said circus and decided to celebrate with a month long trip, leaving Zander alone with his kid. Zander remembers an adorable child, not the handsome young man Brighton has become, and his intense attraction makes him feel all kinds of wrong.
Can Brighton keep his secrets safe from his biggest crush? Can Zander control his yearning for the young acrobat? What will Brighton’s father think?
The Aerialist is a spicy dad’s-best-friend paranormal MM romance with a touch of primal play, forced proximity, and so. Many. Crop. Tops. It is part of the Black Cat Circus, a multi-author series that features found family and a magical cast of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone, but better enjoyed together.
I’ve always been a reader and a daydreamer. My writer origin story is embarrassing now that I think about it. But also kinda funny, maybe. One day I might share. If people ask nicely. It involves a psychic.
I share an apartment with my sister in Southern Indiana where we keep the AC on year round and try to keep each other entertained.
This book was entertaining and cute. It took me a while to start liking Zander’s character, so I was pleased when he actually gave a good reason for the way he acted and talked about sex. Bri and Zander were definitely well matched both in and out of bed. The sexual tension was really hot.
My favorite parts where all the interactions with Peanut, without a doubt. It was super cute.
Biggest critique? The cover model should be wearing a crop top, lol. They’re such a big part of the story and Brighton’s character.
Also, why oh why do authors do the oh my god i need to hook up with someone thing?? Would the character die if they can’t f*uck someone right now? Especially after they’ve already met their love interest and they’ve made a connection? It makes me feel kinda queasy when they go looking for a hookup with other people after that. In some books, it makes sense, but here it wasn’t really needed, even if it didn’t lead to anything.

It’s alright nothing too memorable… I was interested in Brighton since he was in the last book a lot, but it felt like everything was surface level like the last Morgan Lysand book I read.
If you are looking for something short, sweet, and not too much brain power to read then this will be a good choice!
I'd been excited to read Brighton's book since Drake's & Coal's books & this #ARC was so fun to read! Devoured in 5hrs 😍.
A hot Paranormal #MMromance b/w our sweet, bubbly Raven-shifter Brighton (Aerialist) & Protective ex-marine, B's dad's bestie, 21 yr older Zander (Popcorn-er) who's not quite human!
Their story had more angst than other in series but perfect amount (on low side) for the forbidden nature of their relationship & the issue of B's asshole ex Jason!
Z & B are more on the flirty, horny & kinky side & their relationship is sweet, with a lovely HEA. I loved the friends & We also find so much about our Mascot cat, I can't wait for Sev's book next!!

This is the third book in the Black Cat Circus series. It's very insta-lust and sweet. The menagerie of circus family characters is back in all their glory as they help the couple come together, and welcome Zander to the family. The side characters in this series have always been entertaining and great support systems for the MCs. I wish the cover model was wearing a crop top because Brighton was always in one, it's his style!
Zander takes a little bit to warm up to but he at least had good reasons for the way he talked about sex and acted around Brighton. The couple is well matched though and share interest in and out of bed. Their sexual tension was hot while Zander was trying to hold Brighton off. I liked getting to see more of Brighton's relationship with Peanut, the cat, as well. You get some backstory on how Peanut came to the circus and how these two are so close. In here you also get to see Zander’s obsession with popcorn begin and it's adorable that such a giant of a man went from the military to making different flavored popcorn for the circus.
I'm not sure why it's necessary for the characters to run out and try to find a hookup just because they don't/can't pursue the other MC. They already met and talked about an invitation to do more, so why have the MC's try and find someone else? Just not my thing. Considering that I read Season 2 before coming back and reading Season 1 books in this series, I can definitely tell that the authors felt more comfortable with the stories on the second go round.
The narrator was pleasant to listen to and had two distinct voices for the MCs, so I never got confused about who was talking. The voices also seem to match the characters well, which is always a plus when listening to a book on audio. I hate when the voice doesn't match the character at all, it can just kill the whole experience.

The problem with collab series like this one is that one author writes a character one way and another writes it another way. The first in this series got me invested in the characters for the next three books but unfortunately my enjoyment ended there.
This book is a mess. There’s too much going on, the characters are one dimensional, they’re childish, there’s inconsistencies in the writing, it was just… not good. And way too long.
I’ll still read the final book because I’m curious but my expectations are low after this.
This was adorable! I finished it in one sitting. Picked up as a feel good fluffy book after reading some tear jerkers and this was perfect. Low angst and steamy.

Reread as audiobook. Excellent narrator who did the usual outstanding acting. 4.5 stars. Another excellent book in a really captivating series. Brighton is such a sweet character and his raven is really well written. I felt less connection with Zander, his powers were very interesting but I would have preferred a little more depth. The explanation of the neglect of Brighton's parents felt a bit too simple for me, as it had so much negative impact on him. The other characters are truly interesting as always and I'm really hoping that there may be more books to come in the future.
Disclaimer: I received a free arc in exchange for my honest review.
In the aerialist we meet Brighton, who can shift into a raven, and Zander, a friend of Brighton’s father, who’s also related to Odin.
I think this is my favourite so far. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it at first, but then it got better. This story had finally some angst and action, which made it more interesting for me. We also got hints for the next book, so I’m already curious about the ringmaster.
I like how the aerialist positively promotes kink and safe practices. If you enjoy more kink themed books, you’ll enjoy this one.
“Run, sweet birdy, or I’ll f_ck you right here.” …”You have a thirty-second head start.” …My heart slammed in my chest. I sprinted through the throng of people and spun, looking for an exit. We could f_ck in my truck. Or the restroom. Alley. Someplace. Didn’t matter. All the blood drained to my c_ck. What direction did I want to go?”
Bri is the absolute sweetest thing ever. I’ve adored his character from the first book. Sweet, kind, talented and even with a questionable upbringing still such a good person. His friendship with Peanut gives me life. And none of precludes him from being bratty boy!
And Zander !! No wonder Bri had a crush on him, I’m pretty sure I have a crush on him too. The tropes in the series make these two absolutely smoulder whether it’s in their trailer or running in a forest. Between the forbidden, dads best friend and primal play, this one was the steamiest in the series.
And equally pleasurable was getting to see all my favourite found family again. I have thoroughly LOVED reading this collaboration. Low angst and sweet feels all the way!
Audio update Well, Zachary Zaba makes an already fun book better with this amazing audiobook! His Zander voice is a beautiful deep cadence that draws you on and holds your full attention. Bris voice gives that fun playfulness that you wanted him to have when reading his pov. The rest of the cast are true to previous installments of this series, so beautiful job. I'm so happy they brought him on board for this series!
Oh, beautiful Bri, Black Cat Circus wouldn't be the same without you and that beautiful energy you exude. Zee didn't have a chance once he laid eyes on Bri again. These two are two magnets meant to crash into each other. OK, now let's talk about the fun times they are top-notch fun that you wouldn't expect from the story, but wow, do they make it even better. A perfect combination of heat, found family, and just enough mystery to keep you on your toes wanting more. And the mystery of Peanut better be solved in the next book or I may riot. I haven't been able to put these books down since I started and have no plans until I finish with the Ringmaster!

🐈⬛ Review 🐈⬛
First let’s start with I read this book back in May 2023 and I loved it then. Now the audio came out and you know I just HAD to listen to it. I am a sucker for a good audio.
I fell in love with this book last year and I love it even more now with the audio. The way @zacharyzaba brought Brighton and Zander to life had me completely swoon.
When I tell you this book was not just swoon worth but 🥵 as h3ll. If you love some primal play with a 🤏🏼 of a praise k!nk and BDSM then why not take the chance with this one 😉. Brighton is the perfect Raven and Zander is the perfect (well I won’t spoil that for you 😉, but let’s say he isn’t human). These 2 were meant to be together even with the age gap.
Did y’all also know there is a Black Cat Circus Series 2 😉. If you are jumping in ENJOY……
What to expect // Trope 🏳️🌈 MM PNR Romance 🥰 Retired Marine x Aerialist Performer 👀 Dad’s Best Friend 😉 Age Gap (21 years) 🛏️ Forced Proximity 👚 So Many Crop Tops 🐾 Primal Play 🤏🏼 Praise K!nk 🫦 Slight BDSM K!nks 🥵 Needy Greedy Bottom 💪🏼 Possessiveness (No One 🤚🏼 What’s Mine) 🔝 Strict Top // ⬇️ Strict Bottom
The Aerialist is the third book in the Black Cat Circus. Brighton has been part of the circus since he was a child, he’s also a raven shifter. Zander is Brighton’s father’s best friend and has just retired from the military. Brighton’s parents have also retired from the Circus and take off for a month-long vacation leaving Brighton to pick up Zander from the airport. Brighton comes off a total sweetheart but he has a secret kink and Zander is the perfect mate for him to play with. Overall, freakin fantastic! Well written with addicting pacing that kept me engaged and flipping the pages!
Brighton has been a fun and spunky part of this series so far and I enjoyed finally getting his & Zander's story. There is so much going on in this one with the age gap, dad's best friend and stalker ex that it definitely keeps things interesting throughout. I'm now anxious to get to Seven's story.
Such a fantastic story and good to hear more about the black cat circus. Brighton had intrigued me from the beginning and I am so happy to of been able to see his story and get so much more back information about the circus, the history.. everything... I absolutely can NOT wait for the ringmaster!
1st person, present tense, dual POV Brighton, raven-shifter (22), aerialist at the BCC Zander, (43), retired Marine
Audiobook (5h22m), Narrated by Zachary Zaba: 4.5 stars I'm listening to this on the heels of Sweetheart Daddy, also by Morgan Lysand and narrated by Zachary Zaba and the voices for the characters are quite similar, especially Jacob/Zander so it took me a minute to transition myself to the BCC. However, within a couple chapters I was fully immersed. The narrator gave both Bri and Z their own voice and personality making me want to continue listening even after I'd arrived back home after work and was sitting in my driveway.
Story - 4 stars I adored this installation of the BCC; it's such a fun concept and found family, the possibilities are really endless. This book brought a little danger with Bri being the victim of a stalker, which was a captivating story arc. I do wish he'd confided in someone earlier, but he's young and had he reasons and then we wouldn't have had such a thrilling a story and wouldn't have seen protective Zander in action.
I really enjoyed the tension between Zander and Bri as they, well Zander, resisted their attraction. This had a little more whiffle waffling about the age gap and Brighton being Ray and Sally's son than I really enjoy, but that's a personal preference. When they finally got out of their own way they were positively fire. That primal play scene? Yeah, *fans self*.
I loved how initially Zander wasn't in on the 'secret' of the BCC and the big reveal was very satisfying, that he himself was keeping a similar secret was just delightful, though I do wish a little more of Zander's had been explored. It was fun how Zander found his place in the circus, having read season 2 before season 1 I knew, but seeing the origin story is always best.
Brighton's friendship with Peanut was adorable, I loved how they communicate with one another and read together, I'm so glad they found each other. I loved the entire supporting cast, but I'm absolutely invested in Peanut and Seven and HAVE to see what happens next!
I'm horrible at writing audiobook reviews because I can't scroll back through and see the things I've highlighted or made notes on but suffice to say I was a fan and enjoyed both the narration and the story. It was cute, sweet, and a fun diversion for a boring commute.
I was given an Audible code and voluntarily wrote an honest review.
What a fantastic addition the the Black Cat Circus series! I've really enjoyed all of the books so far but this one may just be my favourite as it has a slightly darker edge with a stalker element and it's wonderful to see the ever happy Brighton get his HEA. Brighton is just the sweetest guy, he's lived his whole life in a circus and the crew at Black Cat Circus have been his family since his mid teens. They love all of his high energy antics but don't know him as well as they think they do. When Zander joins them after leaving the military, having known Brighton's family for many years, things quickly heat up between the unexpected pair. Zander is Brighton's dad's best friend, there is a twenty-one-year age gap, Brighton is sunshine and flying while Zander is quieter and definitely with his feet on the ground but their attraction is immediate and intense, though Brighton has had a crush for years. Zander is sweet in his attempt to do the right things by his friends but there's no denying Brighton and how drawn he is to the younger man. There is lots of cuddling and protectiveness, especially when it comes to Brighton's stalker, but their heat level is off the charts and make for quite a well matched pair. Brighton enjoys varied kinks and welcomes Zander to the world of primal play which turned into something extremely enjoyable for them both. I love the found family aspect of this series. Everyone clearly cares about everyone else and is supportive and protective, no one more so than Seven, but they welcome Zander with open arms once they see how happy he makes Brighton. There are a couple of angsty moments throughout the book, a lot involving the stalker but there have also been issues with Brighton's family that everyone has been unaware of. It really made me want to give the young man a hug but Zander is instantly there, every time Brighton needs him. A fantastic story that is so well written and I fell even more for the series. I cannot wait for the finale and finally getting to know more about Peanut who has quite a big role in this book. Please be sure to read the content warning of this book as there are passing mentions and memories of certain events that may be triggering or uncomfortable. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Morgan Lysand is a new to me author so I had no idea what to expect going into this book in regards to the writing style. I did have knowledge of the characters because I previously read an ARC of the The Firedancer beforehand, but that was by a different author. I know I know, I am reading these out of order and I usually hate that, but I requested Firedancer thinking it was the first one so now I'm going in order from there and I'll def be circling back to book 1. Anywho...
I really enjoyed Brighton's story. There were a lot of surprises about the young flighty aerialist that I absolutely did not see coming. I'm not going to mention them here because I think it's best you discover for yourself just what this sweet guy is like. It was a lot of fun seeing him tease poor Zander who tried his best to resist him. I can understand where Zander was coming from too. He'd known Brighton since he was a toddler and considered his parents his closest family. It had to be jarring to come home from retiring from the military to see that not only had the adorable child Brighton turned into an adorably sexy man, but he was also flirty AF.
I know I said Zander tried his best to resist him, but it truly didn't take long for the man to give in. Brighton is temptation personified with his crop tops and booty shorts. Weaker men have caved for less no doubt. Not to mention these two are smoking hot together. *fans self*
We also get more insight into the mysterious Peanut the cat. After finishing this book I am pretty sure I know exactly who Peanut really is. He definitely has a connection to the mysterious ringmaster Seven who STILL has never seen Peanut in person. I have a feeling the next book, The Ringmaster, will have Seven being quite shocked once he finally gets a glimpse of the Circus' famous black cat.
Oh! My! I do not think I can gush about this book enough. And, I am seriously sitting here struggling with what to say so as to not give it all away.
The Aerialist is book 3 in the multi author series The Black Cat Circus. Technically you could read this as a standalone but I do NOT recommend it. There is a mystery to the reader that starts in book 1, The Daredevil by @authorduckiemack , continues in book 2, The Firedancer by @ryecoxauthor , and is given a BIG ol’ tease in this book. Like, I am now dying for book 4, The Ringmaster by @dakota.quinn.writes
Brighton is a Raven shifter and has been a part of the circus his entire life. He and his parents started in another circus but he was abused. Seven, the ringmaster of the BCC, found them and convinced them to travel with him instead. Brighton has been tasked with picking up a family friend from the airport who is joining the circus. The family friend is 21 years older than him but one he has had a crush on forever. Of course! Hello age gap, dad’s best friend. Did I mention they will both be in Brightons RV with only 1 bed? Yeah, I’m here for it, too!!! 🙋🏻♀️❤️
Zander is 43, retiring from the Marines, and ready for a slow down. Joining the circus and traveling with his dearest friends sounds just about perfect. He doesn’t expect Brighton to be a beautiful grown man that he now is lusting after. Zander can’t have him, right? But, the pull is strong and his resistance is worn down by Brighton.
Okay, there. I gave you what I could about these two. Now, for the writing I have to say Morgan did a great job bringing this story to life. When Brighton is stalked you will feel the panic. For the spice, Morgan is a k!nky little writer 🤭. This story is so good, definitely put on your tbr.
❤️Age gap 🧡Forced Proximity 💛Dad’s best friend 💚Primal k!nk 🩵Found family 💙Cat best friend 💜Drawn to each other for a shocking reason ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Yes, finally! I fell in love with Brighton from the moment he appeared on page in book one of the Black Cat Circus series (The Daredevil) and have been SO PATIENTLY (totally impatiently) waiting for his book ever since. I'm not even sure how to talk about this book, I just love Brighton and want to be best-best friends with him.
I don't typically care much for age gap romances, but Brighton and Zander are so perfect together. Brighton's been crushing on his dad's BFF since he was a teenager. Zander is retiring from the military and is surprised to come home to see the kid he remembers grew up to be a mighty fine man. Rawr! And the years haven't dulled Brighton's crush at all either. How ever will these two men share one tiny trailer? MWAHAHAHA!
There is of course the drama in the romantic arc around them both wanting each other but Zander thinking it's a terrible idea (see: age gap). There's also drama around the circus being full of supernatural beings (Brighton being one of them himself) and Zander can't know about it because he's human... Or is he? Dun dun dunnnn. And THEN there's a suspense-lite plot around a creepy stalker ex-hookup for Brighton's who's lurking around. There's so much to love here!
This is the third book in the Black Cat Circus series, which is a set of interconnected standalone novels each by a different author and all centered around the Black Cat Circus. I love multi-author series for exactly this reason - this is the first book I've read by Morgan Lysand, but you can bet it won't be the last! Also, I can't wait for the final book, The Ringmaster - FINALLY time for Seven and Peanut! I MUST know what Peanut's backstory is, gimme nowwww!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are unbiased and my own.
When I first 'met' Brighton his character seemed to be happy-go-lucky, colorful, energetic, caring, and of course fashionable. And while he is all of those things, he's also so much more too!
I have really enjoyed each book in this series so far, each book is another addition to The Black Cat Circus, it's another layer that's peeled back. More for us to discover and learn. More secrets were exposed and more information was told.
Brighton has so much more going on in his life than I originally thought. And we get to learn all about him and his past. We also got to see more of Peanut which I loved! The relationship Brighton and Peanut have is so sweet and adorable. You could practically feel how much they care for one another.
And Zander.. Oh boy, was he a surprise!! I went into this thinking one thing... And I got something else entirely! I love how all of these authors have their own writing style and their own way to bring characters to life. And one of the best things about this series is it feels so fluent and concurrent with one another. It's like one continuous story that flows together beautifully!
I learned some new things while reading this story, Brighton's spicy times we're new to me. I did not know about those kinks before, and now I do. I liked how supportive all of these characters were for one another, and the found family aspect is so magnificent!
When you first get introduced to Zander, at first you kind of question how him and Brighton are going to work together. But they end up working together so we'll! Their relationship is beautiful and it's a slow burn... Yet it's not? It's difficult to explain, you'll understand once you read this. Which you should!!
This is really well written with such incredible detail! Wonderful characters, a fantastic storyline and breathtaking performances! Oh, and tons of spicy times!
*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review*
📚📖 ARC REVIEW 📖📚 There is a warning at the beginning of the book about the mention of SA - I personally struggle with books involving SA so this influenced how long it took me to read The Aerialist. However, the author has done it well with no explicit descriptions and done in an honest way. The impact it has on the character was also honest with the initial blaming of themselves and then accepting it was not their fault. I was also initially wary because I was worried that my perceptions of Brighton as an innocent child would be right.
This was disproved straight away when we find out he is into kink. I love books that express kink well, as what it really is rather than the greasy secret activity it is not, and this book did not disappoint. Brighton’s character isn’t two dimensional with the impact of the way he was raised as well as his relationship with Peanut making him one of the better characters I have read this year. I loved that he was comfortable with himself, and his kinks, and that he refused to let others' perceptions influence his actions. This includes pursuing Zander and being really obvious in his interest - which I loved reading. I also really liked how Zander found out about the paranormal aspects of the circus.
I don’t want to give away the ‘action’ of the story but I will say that the intimate scenes are OTT - and soo hot - but what I loved the most was the love between Zander and Brighton. Not to mention the protective growly nature of Zander when Brighton is at risk. The way in which The Ringmaster - book four - is hinted at, with some hints from other books expanded on, just increased my excitement for the final installment. Not to mention I grew to love Brighton as a character himself, rather than a side character to someone else's story. Check it out now but be warned... you will want to read The Ringmaster right after!
This is the 3rd book in The Black Cat Circus series and it's another great addition. It can be read as a stand alone but highly recommend reading the others to fully enjoy it. It's a small group of made family that are interwoven in each other's stories. When Brighton is first introduced to the readers, he came across as such a bubbly, friendly, cheerful character with no worries, full of happiness. But this was just part of an illusion. He is a happy, big hearted, and bubbly person but theres more than meets the eye. He does a great job of hiding his pain and loneliness. It broke my heart learning who Brighton really is. But he is strong and caring, not letting his inner demons stopping him from finding joy in his little world and going after what he wants. And he wants Zander. Zander who tried to fight the chemistry sparking between him and Brighton. A failing fight...thank god, lol. And boy, does that spark combust .... emitting so much heat and steam (fanning myself). But it wasn't just chemistry. Zander also really saw Brighton, not just the illusion; offering the much needed affection, love, and attention, making that smile and happiness be felt truly and deeply in Brighton's heart. And I love that each story has an unexpected hidden gem, throwing in a delightful curve ball to keep the readers on their toes. It also has humor, suspense, awesome world building, and intriguing characters, including the circus cat, Peanut. I can't wait for the next story to discover more hidden secrets in magical world of The Black Cat Circus..
Why is a forty three old Marine running away to the circus? He’s in search of his next adventure of course. Little does he know that his adventure includes a pretty little birdy.
Brighton is a twenty-two year old aerial performer with the Black Cat Circus who has had a crush on his Dad’s best friend Zander for years. When Zander suddenly retires from the Marine Corps and hops a plane to the circus, both his parents and Bri surprised. With his parents retired as well and on vacation, picking up Zander from the airport and taking him to his new home fall to Bri. Zander didn’t expect to be attracted to best friend’s son or for Bri to have a stalker. What is the handsome Marine supposed to do now? Protect Bri or seduce him?
This series continues to be great in my opinion. Each book stands singularly on its own and yet with the others and each is AMAZING! When the advanced copy for The Aerialist hit my inbox, I admit to putting down my current read to dive into it and to staying up all night. This series has me by the throat and Morgan Lysand’s book is no different. The way they incorporated Peanut into their story and brought Brighton to life in a way that made him more vulnerable made me fall in love immediately. Zander as a Marinewas spot on! I’m pretty sure I had a smile on my face from the jump with the start of this book and I already want to read it again. I’m so ready for The Ringmaster by Kota Quinn. I need to see how this series ends even though I really don’t want it to end.

Act Three in our series is the story of a bird shifter and a descendant of a god. Includes an age- gap and dad's best friend trope.
Brighton is a young, intelligent, and striking young Raven shifter. In his youth, growing up in one circus, the family was driven to the ground with all the hard work and the demands for more. An accident will make our young friend leary of one type of act of his art, so he choices to stay with the Lyra as his chosen act. We find he has issues with his born family but abundant love and acceptance for his found family. We start with him going to meet and bring his dad's best friend home to the circus, but we also find out there is danger in the wings, but we are yet to find out the scale of that danger.
Zander, a former marine and family friend, is a man looking for a new purpose. He finds it hard to fight his heart even if he thinks he should. When an accident forces our young raven to show his true self, we discover that Zander is more than he seems and that there is a good reason for his connections with this family. Once he gives in to his heart, there are no bounds to what he will do to protect his heart and the one that holds it in his heart and hand.
When the danger comes out of the wings, we see a crazed stalker out to exploit and expose the supernatural side of a man he sought out repeatedly, even though he was denied and told to stay away from. When our young raven is put into a dangerous situation, the true nature of his protector is revealed.
Both find their heart's desire. Both find love and acceptance in the found family and a HEA.
Come run away with us and Join Black Cat Circus....along the way, say hi to Peanut. He may just be as magical as this supernatural circus.
I can't wait for the rest of the next story. And others in the future from this talented author. Kudos.
This is the 3rd entry into the multi-author Black Cat Circus series, following Brighton - the Aerialist of the title - and Zander, his dad's best friend. It's essentially an age-gap romance with a paranormal twist. That's simplifying things a LOT, because there's a lot more going on with the circus, and Bri and Zander than that.
Brighton is a circus kid, he has grown up in the circus all his life and has been with Black Cat since he was a child. Zander has been there all his life too, albeit away in the Marines. I loved Brighton from when I met him in the first Black Cat book, and was so looking forward to his story. It didn't disappoint and I loved this story. I loved both Brighton and Zander, I loved how they communicated well with each other right from the start, which was super important once we found out what Brighton was into, and communication is key in that. This is super steamy, as I'd expect from Brighton and I really loved the exploration of what he was into, those scenes were great, right from the first one.
Also loved the twist of Zander, didn't see that one coming but it was fun when we got to see what he can do. I have loved this entire series, and this was no exception to that. I am so looking forward to Seven's story now.
4.5 stars Noted trigger warnings needed read but there only written with a small description in the scenes. This book is a first read for the author, and Im looking forward to reading Peanut’s story.
Brighton 22 was a raven bird shifter who was friends with a cat, peanut . Bri was looking forward to his crush Zander joining to circus, an 21 years older ex marine man. Right off I loved the difference of the raven shifter. An Ex boyfriend, Jason arrives on the scenes which wasn’t good for Bri. I loved the first meeting between both characters and I can safely say attractions are there. This is the ultimate confined spaces themed book as Brighton’s small trailer was to fit both of them in. I loved Bri’s personality going from a humous brat to a Dom over Zander. I kept looking for Bri’s dominate side to come out in this, sadly its in at the last chapter. Telling of abuse and threats from a stalker with Jason strangling included. Under age BJs, I felt for Bri in this as he told about his parents neglecting him of affection throughout his life. The age gap and forbidden thing with Bri’s parents with Zander being his fathers friend. Kinks play scenes are hot in this. Both are switches. Zander had a few surprises of his own that throws a curve ball. A good ending to the story with dramatics with Jason.
Third Chapter of the Black Cat Circus. I loved the previous books, and this third didn’t disappoint. Here we learn about Brighton’s love story. Brighton is the “kid” of the circus, the youngest, and therefore the one the others feel most protective about. Protection is also the first thing Zander feels when he meets him again after years. Since he was a teenager, Brighton has had a crush on Zander, a long time family friend, but Zander has always seen him as a child, and not a normal one, but his best friend’s child, and therefore off limits. Things change when Zander decides to retire and join the circus, because he finds out that the child he knew, has grown up in a very handsome man. The close proximity, plus other issues with an ex boyfriend, make them come closer and fall in love. I loved the way Zander treated Brighton, like a prince, and the love and dedication he showed him. At the same time, I adored Brighton’s determination in making Zander understand that there was nothing bad in falling in love with each other, despite their age gap, and the fact that he was his father’s and mother’s friend. Moreover, for me, the action, and the reference to the Norse mithology have been a plus. Looking forward to meeting them all in the fourth chapter.
