The thought of morgues gives us chills, and for good reason. Dead bodies in and out, no wonder some claim that the dead linger behind. Why? Are they lost, stuck or just afraid to move on to the afterlife?
This anthology details encounters with ghosts, evil spirits, dark entities, malicious beings, and demonic encounters that’ll send a chill of terror tickling up your spine. Don’t worry, you’re not alone. There’s almost certainly a ghost or two reading over your shoulder.
These true paranormal encounters are unlike any you’ve read before.
And if you don’t believe, just know that you don’t have to believe in something for it to exist. This anthology makes a great gift for the horror fan in your life, perfect for the storyteller that loves to scare others around a campfire, or for anyone who thinks ghosts aren’t real—prepare to read some of the darkest true stories ever recorded.
These stories were supposed to be true but I have my doubts, at least for most of them. To me they were the kind of "scary" stories young teenagers would tell each other, while sitting around a solitary candle in a darkened room. Not that I do that anymore. I suppose there is a limit as to how much you can vary these spooky stories and they did become rather repetitive. Still, it wasn't that bad a read.
Anthropology book filled with shot stories all based on paranormal/ghosts/spirts and mainly taking place in morgues but they added a few different places as well. These stories were sooo good, def give you the creepy factor (aka goosebumps at times) A quick and easy read bc it is broken down in chapters which are each a new story Every story pulls you in and quickly catches your attention esp if you love paranormal all things ghosts which I do Hope to find more books like this!
I got to read this book early as an ARC from Booksprout and am thankful for that. My review is voluntary honest and my own.
To all my friends, family and people that may know me, let me tell you this. If you think for one second you want to visit me once you pass, I will not accept it. No ma’am. Burn the house to the ground.
Some of these stories are creepy, others are sad/sweet. The one that freaked me out was Mis-Identification. That one went in a direction I didn't see coming!
I enjoyed it, some stories were better written than others and there's a few words that I found to be overused. The stories are short, I felt some could've been longer and that some seemed to be written by a teenager for a creepy essay story. Theres a story about an Asylum and a few hospitals and they were absolutely fantastic! There was also some spelling errors, which isn't my main concern, however with 127 pages, they should've been found pretty easily. This book took me 4 days to read, when I can easily read a 300 paged book in 2 days, this just didn't keep my interest. This book had alot of promise, overall, it didn't meet my expectations.
Love a true spooky story and this was a mix of people's personal encounters with the paranormal not just set in a morgue ,the last one was quite a scary experience and as much as I'd love to go ghost hunting the asylum is not one I'd fancy doing ,too much horror and abuse must have gone on there so it must have been full of residual pain and misery and lost souls still trying to get out of that awful place ,good read not too long either
This is a good collection of haunted morgue stories. A couple of them were more creepy than others, but all were fun to read. I'd definitively read more of them in the future.
This collection of stories that occur in morgues had some creepy moments. However, I have found that most of this author's books need some work. The premise behind the tales are good, but the execution is often lacking. Most are just quick stories of (possible) ghostly interactions that occur when "someone" that works in a morgue has a creepy encounter with something. I would like them to be more fleshed out. Also, are these true stories or totally fiction? No way to know.
The narrator did a pretty good job, but there were a lot of repeated parts of these stories. In one chapter, there was an entire repetition of a previous story. Needs a good editor in the narration department.
I enjoyed these stories with all the characters within. All the stories dell with the morgue in some way. This is an anthology of details of encounter with ghost and other things.
This was a fun book to read. It had action, adventure and suspense throughout. It had a few giggles within.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

Quick short stories with a good amount if chills. Each story is a true account told by a different person. I enjoyed every story and I did get a little spooked.
When I say I purchased this book brimming with excitement and the roller coaster high of beginning to read it, it should not come as a shock when I say roller coasters do in fact plummet too. The title alone had me itching to read its contents but I felt tricked kinda like when you click on a YouTube video that titled something like “10 crazy life hacks that will blow your mind” and then it’s some guy fixing a broken sink with ramen noodles and glue. That’s how I felt about this book. Were there some stories that had me scared to sleep with the lights on and texting my partner to ask when he will be home while I watch a childish cartoon to bring good vibes and distract me from looking over my shoulder at every slight noise I heard? No. See how I just set up a potentially enticing series of events only to end in short disappointment that’s what this book did. Side note - I by no means dislike the author but barely most of the stories take place in an actual morgue (from memory)😂

This was my first short story collection that I've read in a fair bit, and I wasn't super impressed with this. The formatting made it a little hard to read and there were a lot of spelling mistakes that took me out of the reading.
My biggest gripe, however, was that each story felt extremely similar to the others. I suppose there's only so much that can be done for morgue hauntings, but it felt like I was mostly reading the same thing over and over with minor details being changed. I wanted to see more variety in the content. The stories also seemed to be in a bit of a weird order.
I didn't really connect to any of the characters in the stories. They were so short that I didn't get much detail about who the characters were, and many of them weren't even named. I wished I would've been able to get to know some of the characters a bit more so I could connect with their stories better.
Making the stories a little longer and developing the characters more would've allowed for the entire book as a whole to feel less disjointed. It was hard for me to fully get into this as it sits now.
This is a book of short paranormal/ghost stories. The author Eve S. Evans Author interviews people who have had paranormal experiences and helps to share their stories in her books. Within you’ll find creepy, emotional, and some that are downright scary.
I’m not sure I believe or not, but I do believe that these people had an experience that effected them deeply.
If this is your cup of tea, I think you’ll enjoy these stories a lot!
Thanks so much Eve S. Evans for allowing me to read and review.
I was provided a free copy to read- thank you! Unfortunately, I stopped reading at chapter 4. The page formatting on the e- copy I received was wonky. ( page numbers mid -sentence, large gaps between paragraphs). Additionally, there were spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. Typically, one now and again does not put me off, but these were frequent enough to be a big distraction. I would highly recommend another read-through by a proofreader or editor. Perhaps I am hard to shock due to all the horror I read, but the stories, while creepy, were not particularly scary.
We have been given a heart pounding selection of stories with this collection. Each story grabs your attention from the very beginning. I would not suggest reading this before trying to go to sleep, a better idea is to read it during the daylight hours.
