The Family Pet

Rate this book
Saint Godfrey’s world is turned upside down when he learns his parents stole money and left him behind to flee the city. The luxurious and easy life he is accustomed to disappears, leaving him to work a menial job while hiding his name in shame.

Ridge Godfrey has issues. His mother doesn’t want him around, and his father does nothing but clean up his messes. When he accidently comes across his cousin working as a waiter, his luck changes. Now Ridge can give Saint to his father on a silver platter and prove Ridge isn’t useless.

Bowie Godfrey isn’t angry at Saint, but he does want what he is owed. He gives his nephew a choice: become his pet and Bowie will pay off the people who want to kill Saint over stolen money, or Saint can deal with the consequences of his father’s actions alone. Bowie has no plans to feel anything for Saint, but as he spends more time with his nephew and son, he begins to realize a missing piece of his life might’ve been right in front of him all this time.

The Family Pet is a full-length taboo novel with Daddy/boy and Pet Play elements between Father/Son, Cousin/Cousin, and Uncle/Nephew. This story begins with dark situations that involve blackmail, but as Bowie, Ridge, and Saint start to weave their relationships, they make their way toward a happily ever after.

Is it strange that I wasn’t bothered by the taboo but the extensive pup play SHOCKED me? 🤣 I’ll definitely be checking out more!

3.5 ⭐️

It has been a while since I read taboo and it feels refreshing lmao. This is about a taboo relationship with father/son, uncle/nephew and cousin/cousin. I enjoyed the tabooness, I kinda wish it had all the depths, but I still love the element of forbidden in this one. It wasn’t focused in detaif if you ask me, but it was there and I liked it. Anyway, this is pure porn with heavy elements of kinky puppy play and bdsm. It was all sexual (something I don’t usually enjoy) but this book was such a turn on. Hot.

I gave this a 3 bcs I wasn’t a fan of the whole drama near the end and the plot was lacking. Only here for the throuple :)

”To my own shock, I wanted to see. Was he as big as me? Bigger? Did my cock look the same as his? We were father and son, after all.”

Saint finds himself in a bind and paying for his father's sins. His uncle Bowie and Cousin Ridge that Saint decide to help. Since they can’t stand Saint, so comes at a price to be The Family Pet.

The Family Pet is dirty, naughty, spicy, and downright fantastic. With a touch of sweetness, what turns from revenge turns to love. I’m a way it’s beautiful.

If you’re looking for a kinky book, this is for you.

**3 raz w tym roku**

Jak na książkę, którą przeczytałam po raz trzeci w tym roku, 4 gwiazdki wydają się nie pasować, ale naprawdę brakuje mi tu rozwinięcia w drugiej części. Mimo to, uwielbiam.

** Re-read only after one month**

As you can see, I really enjoyed the book. It has almost everything that I love and I still feel that it could be longer.

The book contains a taboo subject, so please precede with caution. And don't judge me ;D.

I really enjoyed "The Family Pet" and the dynamic between the main characters. It was spicy and naughty enough (with a rather interesting plot). So why not 5 stars? Something was missing... The book could be longer, because .

Now, I'm going to read other books set in "New Gothenburg".

for all the sadistic dark stuff the ending felt way to fluffy and quick. and even the beginning wasn't truly dark either. im confused about it. its like it wanted to be 3 things simultaneously dark/non con + bdsm + gangster romance but failed to be good at all of them imho.

i don't often enjoy dark or sadistic and this one confused me so it just wasn't it. not bad but i won't read it again.

Hi, everyone!

Thanks for reading our kinky book! The Family Pet is a full-length novel coming in at about 61k words, so please, settle in for an evening. I wanted everyone to know a few things about this book because it is taboo!

There is incest in The Family Pet. This subject matter is a warning listed directly on the blurb, but I felt it was a good idea to repeat that here.

Also, here is the authors' note from the book:

The Family Pet isn’t meant to be a representation of either safe sex practices or safe BDSM adventures, especially at the beginning of the book. However, our characters do care about each other before the story is over, and you will see their concern with limits and other things adjusting accordingly! Please read based on your own mileage with these issues.

Thanks so much for visiting New Gothenburg with us again and for reading our books! M.D. Gregory and I truly appreciate it.

This is a taboo story, MMM. Every chapter is told through the eyes of one of the three main characters. As with all books from Ki Brightly and M.D. Gregory, we also get some nice cameo appearances of characters from their other stories. The story didn't have a lot of action or suspense, it mainly resolves around the relationship between the three men.

However, I felt like it was missing something for me. I couldn't really get into the characters. At the beginning of the story, they all more or less hate each other, but just after a couple of chapters, this changes and suddenly everybody has feelings for each other? Why? I felt like I was missing part of the story and I think this could have been explained better.

So while it was a bit of a miss for me, if you like smutty, taboo stories, this is probably for you!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Usually I avoid incest "romances", specially if it is father-son or brothers, they give me the ick and I can never get into the "romance". But the few times I read one is because of the author, like this time, and oh boy, it still didn't work :(

For starters, for about 50% it is a dub-con (but it is truly more on the rapey side). Saint has no other way than being the "pet" of these 2 psychos that are his uncle and cousin. Which would have been acceptable (for the smut only) bc on one side you have the cold, older dom (at least that first night Bowie sleeps with Saint, cuddling him after all that rough day/sex) and on the other side, you have the enemies-to-lovers (that doesn't make any sense at all since the cousin, Ridge, has been "straight" all his life and out of nowhere he is constantly horny for the cousin he has resented all his life).

Yeah, I could have been on board with this premise. No romance at all, just 2 guys using his cute, defenseless guy as his sex toy.

But I draw a line on the Bowie-Ridge thing which was ridiculous and so ugh. 22-year-old Ridge, out of nowhere they become lovers, no building whatsoever. Oh, and it turns out Bowie was also f**cking Saint's dad in his youth (ergo, f**cking his brother) which eww.

Zero character development and zero relationship/romance development. If you read this, it is for the kinks and smut only.

The last 50% was a chore to read, but as a plus, I liked Saint-Ridge a bit more than Saint-Bowie (which I preferred at the beginning). Ridge-Bowie, on the other hand, eww please, I want to erase this "romance" part altogether.

READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!
(And for once there is a clear disclaimer at the beginning of a non-con with pseudo-BDSM practises)

For most of the book I thought this were going to be solid 4 stars. It's obviously porn with plot, but that's exactly what I expected and I judge a story by what it sets out to be.
Which is why the ending was such a baffling disappointment.

Tl;dr - sex great, plot and relationships unsatisfying, ending abrupt and clashing

Let's start with good things: the sex is scorching hot. The sex scenes are varied and creative, the kinks and taboos weaved in nicely, and the initial animosity adds that extra spice to humiliation. The "porn" part is done great.

The "plot" part, however, works directly in opposition to the enjoyment. The authors attempt to give the story some depth and emotional realism, but they also want to reach a semi-conventional HEA, which... doesn't work in a few-hundred-pages incest porn with blackmail, daddy issues and huge dub/non-con element!

We're clearly meant to empathize with those people, but the second you connect with Saint, half of the book becomes straight-up miserable.
From his POV, the emotional/psychological abuse is constant and intense, and affects him a whole lot. Some of his thoughts are genuinely depressing. He's even sad during sex. Why is there dejection in my porn?!

Not for the hurt/comfort trope, because he's emotionally neglected 80% into the book. And not for misery porn, because the book tries to convince us that his abusers are good for him, actually.
Saint's and Ridge's POVs are overall incredibly emotionally unsatisfying, I really felt like the authors couldn't decide what role they wanted Bowie to play.

Thankfully, this is erotic fiction and we don't have to worry about pesky things like morality and one's well-being! Right? WRONG.

After a time skip and some ridiculous actions scenes, a side character points out at the very end the awful wrongness of the situation in a very realistic, factual way.
And after the entire book of presenting Saint as an abandoned, terrified, dependent victim with no options, after no build-up whatsoever - we're supposed to take his decision to stay as a free, conscious choice. And, like, a sign that everything's well.

Why. Why?? We were all merrily ignoring the real-life rules. Why would you shove them into our faces??? Either act like they don't exist, or say you don't care about them. Why pretend that this situation is fine by them??

And then suddenly everyone is nice and happy and we get an epilogue full of fluff.
.

All in all, I think the authors just bit more than they could chew within the page limit they had. Was the story more developed, I'd be actually interested in following the development of the trio's dynamic.

It was so so, but kind of okay.
I had a very hard time liking Ridge, the switch in their relationship.
He was just such a horrible person, and sure, he gets softened by love in the end, but alot of his actions were really despicable and unattractive.

Petty, vindictive, insecure, deeply selfish and childish characters, totally lacking in self-awareness, really isn't my idea of hot.

And I was also a little frustrated, because he is never really taken in hand, punished for his behaviour, or in any way taught to actually behave better. They called it a punishment, but when you desperately want to get fucked, finally getting it, isn't exactly a punishment.

My biggest problem though was that this felt very shallow, I never really felt what they felt, and I was seriously lacking that feeling of connection or true spark. It's more that they where horny, and they where there, so they fucked. it's just lacking something.

The sex was mostly pretty hot though.
I'm a sucker for mean pet play, and he made such a sweet and pretty puppy.
I like it when the Alpha has all the control in the relationship.
It wouldn't be good in real life, but hey its a fantasy, all right! I love unbalanced TPE, where the pup is totally dependent on the Alpha's evil whims, so that part was really hot.

It would have been hotter though if it wasn't so shallow. I just wished for it to feel more real somehow. It's too bad, this is exactly my kink, and I had been looking forward to this one soo much!
It's such a waste of great sex, when the story around it doesn't live up to your expectations.

And I REALLY couldn't stand Ridge. I wanted him to be punished so bad, to have him learn the error of his ways, and to have him show change and humility.

Sure he was softer in the end because of love, but he was never taught a lesson about his behaviour, so you don't get the feeling that he's going to be a better person outside of his relationship.

To sum up:
Really good, hot sex, but the story was lacking in depth, which made me not care as much, or feel as much as I wanted to feel, and I only liked two of the three main characters.
He does as mentioned get better in the end though.

But I will propably read it again sometime, purely for one handed reasons. 😉

Ahhhhhhhhh so delicious and been waiting for this since forever!

Check content warnings for those that need it for dark books. This also has father/son, uncle/nephew, cousin/cousin pairings, and some puppy play (as punishment) and Daddy/boy (no age-play). I like how it turns from non-romance with revenge into a romance HEA for all three of them, since I'd rather the characters I read about actually like each other lol

Saint (24) is trying to hide under a false name since his father ran away with his mother and little sister after scamming many people out of millions (including his own uncle). Unfortunately, he stayed in New Gothenburg, and was accidentally found by Ridge (his cousin, 24), whom notified his father, Saint's uncle, Bowie (48). Then begins Saint's captive lifestyle while catering to his Uncle and cousin. The 'cest aspect showed up pretty early and I loved it, because there wasn't as much build-up or waffling and conflict about it. I'm very glad that it wasn't just father and son sharing Saint, but that father/son has scenes together too yummmmm, full MMM poly 'cest triad.

I feel like the ending is a bit unresolved concerning. I feel like that was probably another cameo from the two authors' other books but I haven't read enough to know who they are, but I'm glad they were at least decent and still tried to rescue Saint.

I'm happy to have seen cameos of Jude (brother of Jury from "Higher Education") as Ridge's best friend and that he tried to get Saint out of the captive situation when he knew he was sorta blackmailed into it. Sad about his family situation and really really reallyyyyy need his book soon! Omg, I thought it was kinda hinting at some possible future 'cest couple for him but not sure if I was just reading too much into it and putting too much hope there LOL

I absolutely loved this kinky, forced pet play, taboo MMM romance. Saint’s parents stole a bunch of money and skipped town with his baby sister, abandoning him. Leaving him to fend for himself and fight off the people that hate his parents, and him by association. Bowie, his uncle, has had to clean up the mess that his brother (Saints dad) left behind, especially of their family name. When Ridge, Saint’s cousin and Bowie’s son, stumbles upon Saint, he calls his dad. Ridge isn’t close to his dad and wants his attention, he feels finding Saint will lead to finally doing something right. And it works. Bowie is thrilled, he gives Saint a choice, be his pet or we’ll probably die at the hands of the criminals his dad screwed over. And since it makes him hot and bothered to be his uncles pet, to serve his uncle and cousin, he goes with it. I have to say, this book had me all in my feels a lot more than I thought I would be. My heart broke for Saint. He wants to be loved and cared for, not hated. But he feels hated by all the people that blame him because of his parents. He feels hated by his uncle and cousin. And I’m the beginning Ridge definitely hates Saint, and Bowie? At the most he is indifferent and cruel. Their feelings start to change. They tangle together in more ways than one. It was such a good book, lots of twists and turns, as well as kinky sex. And those pesky emotions that just make a good book, a great one. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I devoured it. The writing was so well done. And that cover is hot!

First be advised there are trigger warnings with this book so if you don’t like this please don’t read it.
This is the first I’ve read by this author that has touched on this kink. I’ve read a number of books that are part of the world this takes place in. I’ve loved each, matter of fact it was The Madam’s Baby Boy that really got me involved. This is where I was introduced to the Courtesan Hotel and Darcy and Madam Winters. Them having part in this story just brought it together for me.
Saint is being held responsible for his parents cheating people out of a lot of money. Those cheated don’t care if Saint knew about it or not. He is the son and being forced to dealing with death threats. His cousin and uncle go to the restaurant he is waiting tables, trying to make enough money for rent. Since the history between the two brothers and sons has always been bitter, they decide this is their chance to take out their resentment on Saint. Bowie, his uncle sets up the conditions for Saint to get his protection. While this is being initiated Bowie’s son Ridge gets included and now both men are treating Saint as a pet. While Bowie is trying to make sure Saint will be not held responsible any longer, Saint’s dad reappears. Saint’s dad makes it clear he has no use for Saint. He also spills the beans on some of the history between Bowie and him. I enjoyed this story and hope more of this type will be written.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this super taboo book about a man from a wealthy family (Bowie), his spoiled son (Ridge), and his naive nephew (Saint). I was pleasantly surprised how well written this was, not because these two aren't amazing authors, but because taboo with 'cest isn't usually my thing.

Saint is the golden son of the oldest boy of the Godfrey family, who is an old money family. Saint's parents have taken his much younger sister, and abandoned him in a city vying for Godfrey blood after his parents stole millions of dollars from dangerous wealthy people. Saint is just trying to live a normal life working his first ever job as a waiter, when not only do some of the people looking for the money the parents stole find him, but his cousin and uncle stumble upon the restaurant he works at.

Ridge sees his cousin waiting tables, of all things, at an upscale restaurant under a fake name. He has his father, Bowie, join him to torment Saint while demanding the stolen money back. Ridge is the spoiled son that is constantly having to have his messes cleaned up by a father that wants nothing to do with the whole situation.

We follow Saint, Ridge, and Bowie on a kinky journey of punishment, humiliation, self-discovery, and eventually love. This was such an interesting read into the characters growing relationship dynamics, and keeping Saint safe from his parents wrongdoing.

I loved it very much, from the beginning to the end. The story was tight. I loved how Ridge and Saint's relationship completely changed and how they supported each other through deeds and despite the challenge. They would say nice words to each other when the going got tough. I loved how BOWIE cared for both Saint and Ridge and made them better. Although I thought they would treat Saint better, at least as a human being and not a pet, but as long as it was mutual consent, I don't think it was a problem. I loved when Ridge defended Saint and beat up his uncle while he deserved it, and I loved when BOWIE endured everything alone and put himself in danger in order to save Saint . Even though BOWIE was always cruel, he was also caring and supportive, and this made me love him. My favorite part was when Ridge told his father his nickname was “Daddy.” And BOWIE literally believed it and told him, I'm going to be your daddy. Boy, I was screaming like crazy. I was like, damn, man, he's your biological son, but do I care? Does BOWIE care, of course? No, I really loved the ending when they confessed their love for each other and gave Ridge some freedom, and also my favorite ending moment when BOWIE's Make love with Ridge felt like a victory

Wow. Hot forbidden and extremely sexy.

While I did feel so bad for Saint, I felt his hopelessness, knowing that everyone hated him for something that wasnt his fault. The fact that his uncle and cousin detested him for how he was treated by his grandparents, is a known feeling, I think most families have that comparison.
Ridge lashes out... anything to get daddies attention. He does honestly love his father and feels like the only way he will have any acknowledgement is to misbehave.
Bowie has always been made to feel like he wasnt enough in comparison to his older brother. Then his brother drags the family name through the mud and its left to him to repair the damage. Nevermind the fact his brother stole from him too.

Both Ridge and Bowie, decide to use Saint as a way to get their piece of flesh from Rodger. However, over time they all begin to care for oneanother....With Ridge looking after Saint, he begins to show the attitude Bowie has always wanted him to have. Saint finally has someone or someones willing to look after him. Bowie however begins to open up, his sharp edges soften as he loves both his boy and pup

Please heed the trigger warnings.
This absolutely is not a light story.
I absolutely loved it.
Poor Saint has never had anyone truly care for him and he's in desperate need of care.
His parents have absconded leaving him to bear the brunt of their machinations and he has to succumb to his uncle Bowie and cousin Ridge.
There's years of animosity bordering on hatred from them towards him so he simply resigns himself to be their slave/pet.
As much as he feels shame and humiliation about the situation he also secretly craves it.
Ridge starts out wanting to hurt him but through a series of situations actually begins to care for Saint.
Bowie is so cold, cruel and completely domineering that I couldn't stop my fingers from flying through the pages.
When they all begin to interact together it gets even hotter.
I appreciated that although Bowie didn't truly change, he did soften for his pup and boy and I loved the sweet connection Ridge and Saint found together.

Surprising and oh so naughty 😉

I really love Ki and Meg's storytelling abilities. They have created a world and a wide range of characters that just fits. These 3 men are looking for something and while it may be taboo in the eyes of 'society', it works for these men!
While they might be related, they didn't really "grown-up" together, only reconnected as adults so the usual underlying "wrongness" wasn't really there. Only there enough to make the taboo nature hot!
The backstory of Bowie also made his nature make a bit more sense.
These three start with hatred and distain and grow to care and love more than familiarly. It's naughty, sexy and thrilling at parts but balanced with an actual story and some fantastic cameo visits from my fav twins!
I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would and am so glad I took a chance on a new genre!!

I knew by the description that this could go one of two ways; either I would like it a lot, or not so much. And unfortunately it fell in the latter category. I just couldn't get over the dub-con aspect. You would think it would be the taboo aspect, but it wasn't really that. I just didn't like how the whole situation with Saint played out. I did enjoy Jury's character though, he was trying to help the situation, and didn't fully understand why Saint would want to be in that situation. And honestly I'm with Jury, I understand Saint needed the money... But I don't understand why he would stay in that 'relationship' even after he 'earned' the money. Overall it was a well written story, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*

This is an intense and taboo story. What starts off as revenge soon becomes something more. Ridge and Bowie start off as manipulative but soon find that their own emotions begin to change things. The three work together well and the dynamic between the men was interesting to watch as it changes throughout the story. I would have liked to see more of how Ridge changes. It was nice to see how he begins to grow up and find his way. I loved the way the relationship changes and the introspection that each man has. I love how these authors intertwine the characters from this world in each of the books set in New Gothenburg. There is a lot more than just sex between these three a real relationship takes shape and real emotions come out to play.

In order to be upfront I need to say that this book is not my cup of tea but as I’m part of the beta readers group for these two authors I thought I would read it just to help them out with spelling and factual errors etc. WELL. Um? I loved it! But I don’t like this kind of thing!? I just got so invested in Saint’s story with Bowie and Ridge and what was happening with and around them. The way everything is woven together is delightful and as you slowly find out the backstory and peoples motives I dare you not to get involved. I swear that M D Gregory and Ki Brightly could write a math textbook and make me want to read it. Bravo ladies bravo.

Ok so hear me out. This book is BDSM Taboo! Like TABOO! So if you already know that it’s a father/son plus their nephew/cousin, don’t say you weren’t warned and be pissed about the plot and give it a bad review.
Apart from that, I decided to go the Daddy Dom/Boy/Pet route and make it in my head that they are more like stepson and they long lost cousin lol
The interactions could use some work, and there won’t be some profound character development, this was pure smut page after page with a sprinkling of plot. BUT THE HOTTEST THING I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME.
So I’m totally not ashamed to say I read this in a day.

Warning: BDSM, family taboo, puppy play, daddy dom, dub-con, degradation, humiliation, coercion, etc ✌🏼

Please pay attention to triggers posted by author, book is not for everyone.

I loved it! Author does not shy away from writing every possible story. Sucks that so many platforms limit writers and censor them. Storyline was great, the relationships grew, but for sure you would need to read the kings book and some of the new Gothenburg books first to grasp the personality of some of the characters mentioned. Trust me when I say that Madam winters is described, but you wouldn’t know the depth of what she has done before to understand why running off with her money would be bad and how quick the consequences come.

Dub-con, blackmail, rivalry, humiliation, forced confinement... all kept in the family and leading to a HEA! Yep, so much going on and it's delicious! Spicy, dirty and even a little sweet, if you like a darker taboo story with age gap, pup, daddy, boy and so much more, you'll want to add The Family Pet to your TBR immediately! I read this book cover to cover and barely stopped to notice the world...

Because of the nature of the book, you can only get it at Smashwords, but it's so worth it! BTW- there is also some violence... cause, well...

Trigger Warnings! Read the trigger warnings!
Totally taboo.

Saint is in a dangerous situation not of his own making but simply because of who his parents are and what they have done. Along with a longstanding family grudge he is a prime target for revenge.
I kind of wanted him to push back a little more especially at the beginning and a stronger reaction to hearing his fathers words in Bowie’s office wouldn’t have gone amiss.
I liked the inclusion of elements of the larger New Gothenburg world.

A solid 3.5 ⭐s if I do say so myself.
I have to admit I stalling to finish this one, but it definitely finished stronger than I expected.
Will have to review this one later though.
I'm new to the land of taboo and honestly it requires a bit more for me to process before I post a review all willy nilly filled with all my opinions rooted in my personal hangups. I mean I know it's just fiction but there was a whole lotta sh@# going on in this little story...a WHOLE LOT!!! 🫣😱🥵 But I can say it was a worthy first purchase from smashwords.

This book brings the heat for sure. It’s definitely got the twisted and taboo part down. Be sure to heed the trigger warnings. But, underneath that is a story about hard times leading you on a path you wouldn’t have chosen to take but it ends up being the right one. I loved that the book included chapters from all three characters POV. And ending it with Ridge was a perfect choice. Absolutely love the authors!

This one has Three of my favorite tropes. First it is a Threesome! Then it also has an age gap, and it has puppy play! This is some smutty spicey play at that! It also of course taboo. I am obsessed with all the men in the Ki and MD worlds, so I loved the little cameos here and there! These guys do not start off lovey at all! Their relationship is taboo and grows from the feelings and challenges that situation brings for them. We do get all of the POV's which made me super happy!

If you like taboo books this is a great one. The hot level is off the charts, I needed to fan myself while reading. The book is set in the authors Gothenburg verse and we do see cross over characters which I love. It creates interest that featured side characters will appear in later books.
Plenty of kinks and BDSM, so if you like yourself a little taboo erotica that this is the book and authors for you
