Wendy and her kids fight familial battles and attacks from other survivors, while Zack, Grizzly and their small group continue pushing south, fighting through dangers both natural and human.
In the frozen wasteland north of Alaska, a series of mega-rigs operated by joint USA/Russian teams go up in flames, killing thousands of workers and destroying a trillion dollars' worth of equipment.
After barely surviving the initial firestorm, mechanic Zach Christensen is trapped in the arctic, five thousand miles from his wife and children back home in Connecticut, struggling just to find enough fresh air to breathe, let alone the strength to find his way back home.
While governments try to hide the scope of the disaster, the fissures caused by the rigs continue to spread billions of tons of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere, spreading fires and toxins that are consuming not just the arctic, but the entire planet....
Welcome to my little space out on the web. I'm Kenny Soward, and I'm an author, musician, and once IT guy. I write books in many sub-genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy, including post-apocalyptic, military science fiction, epic fantasy, and horror. I'm influenced by authors such as Stephen King, George R. R. Martin, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, Mark Lawrence, Dan Simmons, Robin Hobb, Robert McCammon, Larry Correia, and Mike Kraus.
I love all kinds of movies and shows from Battle Star Galactica (reboot) to the Walking Dead. There's nothing I won't try.
I grew up in Kentucky in a small suburb just south of Cincinnati, Ohio, listening to hard rock and playing outdoors. In those quiet 1970's streets, I jumped bikes, played Nerf football, and came away with many scars.
My grandfather and many of my uncles and cousins served in the United States Military, and my father was a Kentucky State Trooper. Their efforts taught me the meaning of sacrifice and gratitude. I've always had an avid curiosity about the world around me, and I hope my enthusiasm for life carries over into my stories, even the dark ones.
I really like how this story is progressing. Its definitely different then what I saw coming. So far the community aspect is balancing nicely with the religious aspect. As an atheist bibliophile, I get turned off by blatantly heavy religion either on the side of mercy or against but the multiple religious views balances at least so far 90% sure I'm going to finish the series!
Kenny Soward and Mike are amazing together as writers.
Russians landing and killing citizens In Alaska and other parts of the country. Taking hostages and imprisoning them also. Gangs all over the country robbing and killing others for food, weapons and places to live. People trying to return to their families and not knowing if they are alive or not. Survival is everything for ones who are left and just wanting to find family and live.
This was generally a good book four. There were a few editing issues, mostly with respect to punctuation. I hope Zach’s finally gets away from the Russians at some point as they are getting a bit tiresome. The Amish plot seems to dart a bit and there is no way an Amish man would like to see a crucifix in someone’s home. Still, I look forward to book 5.
Once again, these two authors have written a story that will have you wondering what could possibly happen next. Disaster, danger, how will the survivors live through all of this. Impossible to not want the next book.
