Unbelievable Crimes Volume One: Macabre Yet Unknown True Crime Stories

Rate this book
Step into some of the most heinous (yet relatively unknown) crimes ever committed and delve into twelve twisted tales of murder in Unbelievable Crimes.

From the deplorable abduction and imprisonment of young women by James Jamelske, who kept his victims in his basement, to the tale of charismatic charmer Charles Schmid who boasted about his savage murders, each story in this anthology dives into pure evil.

In one case, I’ll take you back to 1993, to the city of Houston, where two teenage girls, Jennifer Ertman, and Elizabeth Peña, were brutally raped and murdered. This crime can only be described as barbaric and senseless, especially when you factor in the young ages of the killers.

I’ll delve into the bizarre and twisted story of Carl Tanzler, a man who becomes fixated on a beautiful young woman. After her untimely death, he kept her as a mummified corpse in his home for years, with a genuinely inexplicable outcome.

You’ll also be introduced to the gruesome story of Omaima Nelson, an Egyptian-American woman who killed her husband before cooking and eating parts of his body.

While most people know about the incomprehensible acts of Ted Bundy or the wicked crimes of the “killer clown” John Wayne Gacy, there’s an underbelly of true crime that has been left untouched over the years. These crimes had a fleeting news story or a 30-second snippet on a local news station and have since been long forgotten. I believe we should remember these crimes to ensure the victims - and their ordeals - don’t get wiped from true crime history.

Discover the dark side of humanity as I delve into some of the most shocking and twisted little-known true crime stories in Unbelievable Crimes Volume One. To most, the senseless acts of violence and pure evil depicted in these cases are simply unimaginable. But, they’re all somebody’s reality.

Please note, as with all true crime content, this book contains details that cover real-life murders and violence.

I needed a true crime fix so I got this one for free on Amazon kindle ☺️.

This is about some absolutely horrific true crime cases, some you may have heard of and some you may not have.

The cases include:
* Paris Bennett
* John Jamelske
* Carl Tanzler
* Ming Sen Shiue
* Cinnamon Brown
* Lorraine Thorpe & Paul Clarke
* Burt Pugach
* Von Lester Taylor & Edward Steven Deli
* Charles Schmid
* Omaima Nelson
* The Black and White Gang
* Darlie Routier

The only one I knew of was Paris Bennett which was a horrific crime from a child psychopath.

I like the way the book was written, it gives enough information for you to get a picture of the perp and the victims. Great read. Definitely going to read the others.

Very well written

This book was introduced via another true crime writer . I'm impressed with the presentation of the facts in cases that I never heard of or had seen documentaries on one or two. It's truly appalling that people have so little regard for life and see no wrong in the extremes taken to end someone's life. These stories had me cringing at the ( wish I could swear in anger here) brutal ends these people endured. I pray for a day when there are no true crime tales to be told at all. It's a cruel world, and I do read these to learn to be vigilant and try to teach others younger than I so they are aware. When I was younger, I often found myself in precarious situations. Hitchhiking, sleeping at beaches .It was the end of the hippy types, all love , peace, and harmony. Thankfully, I had a parent who would alert me to things, so I knew how to stay safe.
I travel alone a lot as an older woman now but am always alert to my surroundings and trust my instincts. Plus, a good RBF helps. The helpful, trusting ways are almost a thing of the past. Stop and help a stranger and get robbed or killed. It's going back to an uncivilized world. Lifting weights, self-defense, and carrying a weapon are almost considered necessary. Never take the same routes or follow specific routines.
Criminals are smarter than the average Joe. These stories and profiles of criminal behavior have taught me well. Combined with working in nursing , knowledge of abnormal psychology and having criminals tell me exactly how they'd pull certain cons. Mostly on women , some men too.
Visiting nursing and hospice care, I started doing and realized that even though we are out helping people, we still had to train in defensive tactics. Wear sneakers , be ready to run . How to take an attacker down . Crazy world, but it's better to bear the knowledge than to ever think you're always safe. Keep writing, and may more women find courage to not be the victim but the victor.

My review

So whilst these as put as "yet unknown "true crime stories I would say lesser known, not the same ring to it I know. I know a few of them recently from true crime on Tiktok but they are lesser known for sure.

If you like stories that don't go around the houses before getting to the story then these will be right up your street. They are each only below or just over ten pages each.

Not for the faint hearted, some of these are truly horrific/evil/unnerving, the depravity and depths some of these killers go to, usually for their own personal sick kicks.

Some of the stories go beyond just taking someone's lives and the suffering and deviancy of some of these perps is jaw dropping. I have read and watched a ton of true crime and you don't think people can get worse but sure enough there is always another, 4/5 from us.

I've read quite a few true crime books and am not often surprised by how well a "new to me" author writes. It's also uncommon for me to not have heard about a particular set of crimes but this author was able to do just that. The crimes described weren't just murders but kidnappings and rapes, as well as abuse of corpses. The treatment of the victims - how they were abused was abhorrent. They were often violently tortured. The author showed how smart, sadistic, and manipulative the perpetrators were.
This was the perfect read for a windy partly cloudy Saturday afternoon. I do recommend it especially if you'd like to read about teen killers and murders among family members.
I really appreciated how the author emphasized the victims and how they suffered even mentioning how their deaths and / or disappearances effected their grieving relatives and friends. And even how true crime fans seem to be more careful because we could easily be victims ourselves like the innocent ones we read about. I can't wait to read the second book in this set. I already pre-ordered it.

A Book for True Crime Readers
Unbelievable crimes by Daniela Airlie are a very professionally written and professionally researched book by the Author. This is the first book I Have read by Daniella and is Book 1. There was only one person I had ever read about before which I found good due to the amount of true crime books I read. Daniella book very fascinating easy to read book and you can read it in a few hours or by a story or two a night.
It is a quick read but leaves you remembering the horrific cases and the torcher and depravity some of these killers are willing to inflict on their victims. Not only where some of them older people but children and teenagers who show no remorse afterwards apart from being caught. Daniella discusses the cases well and informs you of the impact the case has on the victims and their families with sensitivity.
I am an ardent fan of true crime and I highly recommend this book. I intend to read more from this author.

Really, a three and a half stars

I started this book thinking I was going to read about a bunch of unknown crimes and I was disappointed to see the first chapter was about the psychopathic Paris which is the subject of a documentary and several podcasts and case studies in other books. It ended with Darlie, the murderous Texas mother we all hate. That's why three stars from me. However, I like the way the author writes so I will be starting the second book in this series. If more obscure cases had been covered I would have given four stars. She reminds me a lot of Robert Keller and Jason Neal in her short story format.

Needs more research on cinnamon brown case

This book implies unknown, or at least, not notorious, cases. Ann Rule covered the murder in her book If You Loved Me and the case went on to become a 4 hour tv miniseries. Also, the web fairly bristles with articles. The rest of the book needs better editing. Seems to be self published, needs b readers.

Unbelievable Crimes is a Good Read

I rated this book highly because I enjoyed it very much. The stories were chosen with care, in my opinion, because they were les.ser known than what I usually find in true crime books. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a true crime book that is well written and easily understood.

Good short read

These crimes, except for one I had never heard of.
Evil people, doing evil things.
The one tat that really got me, was the rich kid. He had absolutely everything given to him in life. Yet, he chose to kill others because he was supposedly bored?
