মাঝে=মাঝে মন চায় একেবারে সনাতন ভূতের গল্প পড়তে— মানে যে-সব গল্প এককালে ছোটোদের পত্রিকায় আকছার ছাপা হত, কিন্তু যেগুলো এখনকার ছোটোরা আদৌ হজম করবে না। সে-সব গল্পে রাজত্ব করত অন্ধকার, বাঁশবন, মাঠ, পুকুরপার, জঙ্গল, রিকশা, জলা— যেগুলো এখন কোয়ালা আর ডোডোর মতোই বিলুপ্ত হয়েছে বা বিলুপ্তির পথে এগোচ্ছে এই বাংলায়। মূলত নস্ট্যালজিয়ার টানেই তাই হাতে তুলে নিলাম এই বইটি, যেখানে নামকরা পত্র-পত্রিকায় প্রকাশিত একগুচ্ছ ভূতের গল্পকে সযত্নে সাজিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে দুই মলাটের মধ্যে।

অত্যন্ত চমৎকার লেখনীতে এই সাবেকি চালের গল্পগুলো পড়লে নস্ট্যালজিয়া-সন্ধানী পাঠকের মন ভালো হয়ে যেতে বাধ্য। সেই সঙ্গে বলতেই হয় এই বইয়ের প্রতিটি গল্পের সঙ্গে সঙ্গত করা অরিজিৎ দত্ত চৌধুরী'র অলংকরণ, অসামান্য বর্ণ-সংস্থাপন, পরিচ্ছন্ন মুদ্রণ আর চমৎকার বাঁধাইয়ের কথা। সব মিলিয়ে এ এক দুর্দমনীয় প্যাকেজ যার আকর্ষণ কাটিয়ে ওঠা শুধু কঠিন নয়, প্রায় অসম্ভব।
সুযোগ পেলেই বইটি হস্তগত করুন এবং শোয়ার সময় চাদর মুড়ি দিয়ে ডুব দিন অন্ধকার ও ভয়ের রাজত্বে।
