🙄.

I think my emoji speak volumes, or even my 2 star rating. I went from the beginning to the end of this book because it was getting on my last nerve. It felt like I was reading a bad attempt at a Mafia romance by a high schooler. I not a blogger or anything, but I know what I like and this did not do it for me.

1- the amount of exclamation points is so ducking annoying

2- most wattpad books have editing better than this

3- bobby is disgusting

4- gwen is annoying

please for the love of god stop with the nonsense (he only talks about her boobs and etc)(she says stupid shit constantly)

Promised at Birth is the first book of the Chicago Mafia Vows. After I read the overview for this book, I just knew that I had to read it. To say the least I was NOT disappointed with the book. In fact I absolutely enjoyed reading Promised at Birth. I thought the author did an amazing job with telling Bobby and Gwen’s story. I also found that Promised at Birth to be an exceptionally well written book. I found the book to be both suspenseful and a page-turner. I could barely set my kindle down before finishing the book. Now I’m not going to give out any details because I don’t want to spoil the book for future readers. However, I would highly recommend this book to others. One amazing Mafia Romance book!!!.

Ugh that was a tough book to finish. I’m sorry but I’m not a quitter and I so wanted to quit reading this book. I know we all have our own opinions and the actual story of this book wasn’t bad but the mmc and the mfc were awful!!!!!!!

Somewhat far fetched

I felt the dialogue was pretty poor and the story rushed. it was hard to engage with the characters..

Bobby Vincenzio is the Capo of the Chicago Mafia. He is cruel, egotistical and needs to know that this is no longer just a man’s world! Gwen Fielding is the sweet, pure, innocent daughter of one of his father’s business associates. When Bobby finds out that he is to marry Gwen, he is not happy about this and plans to continue his playboy ways after he is married. Gwen only agrees to the marriage after her father tells her that he is in trouble and this is the only way she can be protected. From the beginning, someone is out to stop this marriage – kidnapping Gwen the day that Bobby finds out that he is to marry her, multiple accidents occurring and even kidnapping her a 2nd time.

Bobby is all about the power and wealth he will incur when her marries Gwen. But what happens when Mr. this is just a business transaction, starts to have feelings for his wife? He will do everything he can to protect her – from the Russians, others in the mafia, and even himself if he has to. Gwen will do everything she can to not fall in love with Bobby – if only to protect herself, but boy does that fall to the wayside! This is all new to Bobby as he feels this is a weakness. I am not a fan of Bobby’s! I couldn’t connect to his character because he was just an a**hole and I wanted Gwen to have amore of a backbone! But she was only 18 and innocent.

Promised at Birth is a wonderfully crafted story that will remind you of the transformative power of love. Bobby (MMC), Capo of the Chicago mob and notorious womanizer, and Gwen (FMC), an innocent 18-year-old college student, are in an arranged marriage. Gwen’s father is a Chicago real estate tycoon and Bobby’s father is the former Capo of the Chicago mob. The fathers had been friends for a long-time and Gwen was promised to one of Paul’s sons many years ago in exchange for that son to eventually run the real estate business. Add in some stereotypical mafia business and characters and the story takes off with short chapters that have new revelations coming out frequently so to keep the reader turning the pages.

Bobby and Gwen’s relationship was a slow burn that eventually became a blazing love affair that would cool off, then heat back up. Repeat. Then repeat again. Bobby’s journey from casual encounters to deep emotional bonds with Gwen was a joy to read. Gwen’s journey was sometimes frustrating, but then again, she was just a teenager. It was also good to see her mature somewhat. When they finally do come together, their chemistry is burning hot, and they will get their happy-for-now.

Readers will be shocked, angry, frustrated, and feel other emotions with this action-packed story full of angst, grit, betrayal, spice, and complex main and supporting characters. Although the story is brutal at times, it is all in context. I recommend this book and look forward to reading more of the Chicago Mafia vows series. My only complaint is the inadequate editing.

I enjoyed the narration of Kathy Handrock

Bobby is a successful and twenty-eight years old, the youngest Capo of the Chicago Outfit. He loves power, money and sex. Bobby had dated a actress but he didn't want a relationship with love. His has called him back to his childhood home. Both of Bobby's brothers are married and his father Paul wants him married. Paul's friend Zachary has a daughter Gwendolyn that has turned eighteen. Years ago Paul and Zachary agreed that one of the three sons would marry Gwendolyn. Bobby's other two brothers are already married, so that leaves Bobby.
What started off as fake slowly turns into something real...

This is a case of an arranged marriage. Their parents promised their infant daughter to marry another’s son to settle a debt. She is being treated as a pawn, and her own wishes do not matter. I bothered me she was not resistant to this scheme, more outraged. Bobby is a womanizer, but needs to settle down with one women to start a family. Eventually they realize they are growing to love each other, and they have a HEA. Despite my issues with the story line, it was well written and interesting. The narration was well done. I would be interested in more works by this author. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of this book… I did read it in one sitting but I think that was just so I could start a new book🤨

I never really connected with the MMC or MFC. I know sometimes that happens in books. But i think i got turned off in the first part, mostly with bobby

Was glad to see Bobby finally stop waffling about his feelings for his wife and whether or not he planned to cheat on her, but a little disheartening to see him continue to neglect her….

This is book 1 in Peterson's Chicago Mafia Vows series. Well written and narrated, this book is dark, steamy and captivating. Our main characters are Capo Bobby - head of the Chicago mafia and Gwen, daughter of a business associate. Bobby is an entitled, playboy, jerk with Gwen being innocent and seemingly clueless. Promised to each other, both agree to their marriage for their own reasons only as time passes and danger becomes prevalent feelings also come into play. A good mafia romance read / listen. Definitely looking forward to more.

If you like mafia romances, you’ll enjoy this book. What a great start to the Chicago Mafia Vows Series. As with most mafia romances, there’s no shortage of danger, drama, and lots of action. Bobby and Gwen’s arranged marriage will pull you in emotionally from the beginning. For someone who doesn’t do love, it didn’t take him long for fall for Gwen, although he kept his feelings secret. They were opposites in every way in that he was a mafia playboy while she was a young and naive,. The writing was a little repetitive but overall a good book. I read a free book via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.

unexpectedly falling in love

Bobby Vincenzio vows to never fall in love. He didn’t think he was capable of loving a woman. He has merely ever enjoyed sex with them. He has always been a selfish lover; only concerned with his needs until he meets the girl who was promised to him at birth. He fell for her immediately. He found himself doing and feeling things that were foreign to him. Eventually, he would recognize these all as tell tale sign of being in love. Then, he would do anything for her.

4.75 ⭐️ I really wanted to jump through my Kindle and kick Bobby in his manhood because he was such a dickhead. All that, I’m still going to sleep with other women bullshit was making me mad….but Gwen, without even knowing her power put him right in his place….lol. And Gia, Nick, and her father….ugh! And the Russian Brothers….someone always feel like they have to take over and have more power, and look at what that got them….in jail! All in all, I definitely enjoyed Bobby and Gwen’s unexpected Love story!

Not sure

I know, it's strange to not be sure how you feel about a book. Unfortunately this is my case. I don't think i ever felt the chemistry between the lead roles. I never really connected with the MMC or MFC. I know sometimes that happens in books. But i think i got turned off in the first part, mostly with bobby, n never got a good feeling back, even as he was supposedly redeemed. Anyway, the book wasn't bad. It just didn't do it for me.

The build up between the MFC and MMC was perfect. A few of the sex scenes felt rushed but most of them were overall satisfying. I enjoyed the mafia aspects balanced with the relationship plot. The twist of character betrayal was believable but felt a bit rushed. I would've enjoyed a more drawn out version of that storyline. I enjoyed the story and would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a mafia romance.

She was promised at birth to fulfill a debt. Bobby and Gwen's story will keep you all caught up in this one. He is a womanizer but marrying Gwen changes him. Gwen is determined not to compromise her heart to him, but fate has other plans for these two in this intriguing story. Will they finally get their chance for happiness in the end.

First up, read through the triggers. There are someThen get ready. Bobby didn't want to get married, ever. He loved women and women loved him. Only problem is New York, doesn't like him footloose and fancy free. Especially some of the women he has been with.

Gwen just wanted to finally get some freedom. After being the good girl, she was going to college and nothing was going to stop her. Until it did. Now she has to be a mob wife and she isn't liking it.

This was a great read.

good idea bad execution

From spelling errors to an outright annoying FMC, the idea was good, but the book bombards you with information, it didn’t let the story tell the background, just used Bobby POV to do so. And there was the MC being clingy after barely meeting him without any backbone nor really a personality

Gwen is simply a pawn in the grand scheme of things, when she learns that she will be marrying Bobby, she is not happy about it. However as she comes to grips with what is going on around her and with her family, she starts to understand things a little better, even her hard hearted husband.

Gwen was not my favorite

Every time they interacted or spent any time together Gwen always had to ask him if he was going to cheat on her. She asked him I don't even know five or six times straight. She was really insecure. But then again. He was doing her clothing stylist before they even got married so he was that guy.

Not a fan

I admit the bio had me when I first read it. Unfortunately it wasn’t fulfilled by the end of the book. The F character came across more of a 12 year old who turned into a sex kitten after one night and then back to a 12 year old all the way thru. Not a truly believable mafia read .
