After leaving her dangerous husband, Elizabeth Porter decides to move back home. She immediately begins to rekindle her relationships with her parents and her best friend. But when she begins to get harassing messages from her husband, she has no one to turn to but her old rival. The one man she hates almost as much as her husband. Nick Wilder.
Nick Wilder hasn’t given Elizabeth Porter one moment of his attention in the last ten years since he last saw her, but when she comes back to town, she begins to infiltrate every single one of his thoughts. When he finds himself in a position where he’s the only one there to protect her, he must put all of their history aside in order to be there for her.
As these two end up spending all of their time together, will new feelings begin to arise or will they take each other down in the process?
Trigger Warning: This book does touch on an emotionally (bordering on physically) abusive marriage between the main character and her ex. There are only two times that it happens presently and the rest is either from memories or her talking about it. I understand that this can be a hard subject for some to read so there is no offense if you won't (or can't) read my novel.
Elizabeth porter is a woman fleeing an abusive marriage. After leaving her husband her rings and a note she returns to her small town set in Montana. Her small town is so small everyone knows everyone’s business and drama. So when she returns back, she faced with questions about her husband.
One person who is NOT excited to see her is Nick Wilder, her childhood enemy, who is the towns police officer. After being assigned to her TRO case, he offers security.
This ARC read was everything I love in a enemies to lovers trope! The banter, flirting, and pining was everything A very fun predictable love story.

P.s - Please read the trigger warning for this one. I am really looking forward to reading more about Wilder Brothers.
"Why did you stay last night?" "You asked me to stay. I'm quickly learning that even though I've spent a majority of my life hating you ... There isn't a lot I wouldn't do for you."
After running away to her hometown from her abusive husband, Elizabeth Porter finds herself turning to the one person who can help protect her from his harassment. Nick Wilder, her old rival, is determined to protect Elizabeth based solely on professional duty. Will new feelings be able to grown between the two or will they take each other down?
Somehow I've found myself reading a bunch of domestic abuse books recently and I gotta say, this one was so incredibly written from that standpoint alone. Alison Post did an amazing job writing a very hard subject in a way that felt right. Elizabeth was such a strong FMC and I love the way her relationship with Nick evolved and grew. The banter between the two was undeniably funny in a way that felt familiar. Like you knew it was two people who probably did hate each other at one point but would definitely be coming together. I cannot wait to see what else Post has in store for her North Hills series and the rest of the Wilder brothers.
I received a copy of this book to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own! Please check trigger warnings before reading!
ARC Review Dancing with the devil was an absolutely amazing read. It’s one of those books where you keep saying just one more chapter and I’ll put it down! I’m a person that loves a really good setting being able to picture the world an author has built and this does exactly that, I felt as if I was there with the characters. This book also has one of my favorite troupes of enemies to lovers and takes you through all kinds of unexpected twists and turns in one girls fight to win her life and her freedom back and finding love along the way, with the help of loved ones and her high school nemesis. I would 10 out of 10 high recommend this book because I absolutely loved it. A big shout out to Alison post for this beautiful book and for giving me the chance to review it.
A romance blooms between old enemies when Elizabeth returns to her hometown after fleeing from her (mostly verbal) abusive husband. Police officer Nick originally wanted nothing to do with her, but when she came to the station to file a restraining order against her husband he couldn't turn away. Their forced proximity turns these old high school enemies, to friends, to lovers quickly. All the while Elizabeths ex tries to do everything in his power to avoid her from finding happiness. In my oppinion, this story shows the impact of abuse without going into to much detail. The same happens with the spicy scenes, they are described more to give you the gest of things then go into details to much. Overall I enjoyed this read for sure and will follow for the next story in the series!
It was a good story. I really liked both of the main characters, and Lizzie’s back story felt pretty real and her growth real. I enjoyed reading this a lot and didn’t want to put it down. Just a couple of things bothered me. It felt like the time was a little off - like at one point they talk about one week after another, and a little later it was referring to just a couple of days. Also, referring to someone as your ex-husband when you just left them a couple of weeks ago and haven’t even filed for divorce felt weird to me and how everyone seemed to just let it roll. I received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance. Elizabeth and Nick were both likable and relatable. These two were enemies from childhood. All it took was Elizabeth being in need for him to step up. This book was such an emotional rollercoaster. There are definitely some triggering situations but Nick rises to the occasion and protects his woman. There are plenty of twists and some very spicy encounters. I could not put this book down. Alison Post wove a beautiful and at times heartbreaking story. Definitely a must read. I was sent a free book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
Such an enjoyable book that I couldn't put down. It's one of those books that make you say one more chapter repeatedly and soon enough you've read another five. Both Nick and Lizzie are likeable and relatable characters. The pinning, banter and flirting were divine. I always love an overprotective hero and Alison Post didn't disappoint. Troupes include enemies to lovers, damsel in distress and small-town romance. Trigger warnings are domestic violence, verbal abuse, PTSD, misogyny and kidnapping.
Thank you to Alison Post for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest opinion,
✨ARC REVIEW✨ Once I started reading… i couldnt stop! The amount of detail made the story easy to follow and visualize. Elizabeth and Nick have the perfect banter! This small town/haters turned lovers romance was captivating. Worth the read!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book and I absolutely loved it. The relationship was awesome, and I absolutely loved the small town and forced proximity vibes. This was an awesome read that had a ton of the tropes that I love in a romance! The spice was also *chefs kiss*
Small town, she is back after leaving her husband. He is a cop trying to protect her from him. Their fathers hate each other (one slept with the other’s gf 30 years ago) Meh
