S-Jay Hart can be found sipping tea and reading, most of the time. When she’s not doing these things she can be found camping, hiking or shamelessly pretending she’s a dinosaur, astronaut, or butterfly, with 30 small children. She started writing when she was a teenager, creating a fictional world with friends, and has over sixty notebooks filled with stories and ideas. She lives with her two teen humans, her two doggos and her furry beta-buddy Brenda.
When I read something I never see any pictures in front of me. My mind is blank like a white canvas before you add your first splash of paint. All with the difference that no paint exists to add any colour to my mind. But when it comes to the written words, when something is described in the language I get, it’s when the colours come to life. Not in my mind but in my heart. This doesn’t happen all the time or should I say not often? Often I read things and move on. But once in a while there are written words that get to me. Words that go right to my heart. When I feel exactly the feelings behind it. This is when my heart is in its happy place.
The reason why I’m telling you this is because S-Jay Hart is one of these writers who are able to get to my heart. I fell in love with her writing when I read her first novel Oh My Stars. In this collection of poems you get to see her way with words again. Combined with even more feelings. This authenticity and rawness touched me deeply. I was so engrossed that it felt like I started to read and suddenly the end was there. Even if my mind was still blank, my heart is so full of colours after finishing this collection.
Being someone who also writes poems sometimes I know there is no right or wrong. Either you connect with others through your words or you don’t. I guess it’s like life in general. Well I definitely connected with the words and I’m very grateful I found this author. I am already looking forward to every future published work by her. 😍
If you’re a language fan like me, this collection definitely is something for you. Even if poems aren’t usually your thing, try it. You might be surprised.
