Unfortunately, it is the weakest book in the series. Both the relationships between the MCs and the overarching plot felt rushed. Many questions remained unanswered, especially related to what happened in the Unseelie realm. Also, there were no sexy times on the page.
Loved Ben, the wings, all the siblings, the surprise twin. I love this universe, so it was enough to enjoy the book. But not enough to love it

Overall it was a good last book of this series, not the great conclusion it deserved but still good.
What I liked:
We get the complete pack and their quirky interactions. Wouldn't be a proper farewell book without it. There's an innocent romance with Ben being the gentle giant with a wings kink and Koios the oblivious one. There are cameos from some important characters of the Chosen universe, even new additions to the ever growing family, so it's wasn't leaning heavily into nostalgia but could be called a story in its own right.
What didn't work for me:
The by-the-way-I'm-your-Mate situation and the we're-not-in-Love-yet quickly followed by the love declaration some pages later was to be expected but Macy Blake handled such that situation better in past books. I'm not such a friend of the last scene at the Unseelie court. It felt rushed and a bit anticlimatic although Ben and Koios got their time to shine but what I really would have done without: the marriage at the end. That was over the top and empty at the same time.

So it showed all the cozy-quirkiness combined with an adventure mystery which was the reason why I followed this series but it was a bit too rushed.

I've been waiting for this book so patiently and then there was a whole thing with the pre-orders having the wrong file but finally I got my hands on it!

So, it was a little bit frustrating that - in a world that's been full of heat and spice - there was no on page sexual intimacy between Ben and Koios at all.

Yes we got a vague frottage scene, numerous references to the fact they'd had sex, but none of the emotional connectivity which comes from allowing yourself to be sexually vulnerable happened on page.

It was especially disappointing because both men have been such a huge part of the Champions series, although we've only just actually found out Koios' identity outside of his codename Oracle, in the last book.

Also, if this book hadn't followed Scout and Coal's it probably would have hit better, because their whole book was so beautifully passionate and had loads of action in it too.

I think I would have loved this book more if it hadn't been the series closer. Because things started to feel a little bit hurried by the time the final quarter of the narrative was getting closer.

There's no deus ex machina as such, but there's definitely an element of information dropping at just the right time to help move the action along.

Now, if this makes it sound like I'm completely out of love with Oracle, fear not!

I did thoroughly enjoy seeing everything come to fruition, especially Ben finally getting his love story and them being able to work to help Koios' with his damaged wings.

There were some really intriguing overall world developments that I am hoping Macy will be coming back to in future new series', we also got a big surprise reveal relating to Koios' background, and things wrapped up the overall story narrative with a bit of a kerfuffle in the Unseelie kingdom.

The world Macy has created in her Chosen Universe really is brilliantly described, you can visualise it perfectly and here is no exception.

I also absolutely adore the sense of family, both blood and found, that she's established within this world. The Jerricks', Logan's pack, Sawyer and his mates, the Hellhounds, plus Koios and his siblings, all have unique things which draw me to them and fascinate me with their relationship interplay.

Hopefully this isn't the last of our time here, there's still some open threads that I think could easily provide more books!

I didn't realize until after I finished that this is the last book in this series (though I'd be surprised if it's the last in this universe) and that bit of info has taken my rating down just a notch. I'm waffling between 2 it was okay and 3 I liked it stars. So maybe 2.5 stars.

Ben, like Ollie, is one of those characters that I, and many others, have grown to adore throughout this series so of course, I had some expectations, but I try not to let those expectations affect my rating. Koios was really only introduced in the last book so I had no idea what to expect from him, but he grew on me here. They are both likable characters and make a good pair, but their romance was lackluster and rushed. Their more romantic times often felt clinical in their talk rather than passionate like their banter other times. I also hate that we, and presumably Koios, never saw Ben in his shifted form. If you're going to have a character who is a shifter as the MC I want to see them shift.

Koios' history and the explanation of his powers was somewhat convoluted, I still don't fully understand it. It took until the big fight at the end to see him really break through and then that was it. The last 15 percent of the story moved quickly and that was where all the tension was. Even then I was more invested in Cosmo and the king than our main protagonist as the climax of the series-long arc played out so quickly.

This book didn't grab me until the end and I still felt that I didn't know the MCs as a couple. Also there were so many grammatical errors in this book. Words in the middle of sentences that don't belong there, word endings missing. It's almost like it was never proofread.

Now, knowing this is the last book, I can see a lot of loose ends and unanswered questions, which leads me to believe this will be continued in yet another spin-off series. But this book wasn't the ending we or the characters deserved.

Sadly it was rushed

I don't normally like to leave a bad review but in saying that I have to..
I had so much excitement for this book but was so sadly disappointed with how it flowed. The relationship just felt forced like just find two MC and put them together I would have loved for the relationship to have flowed together like her other books in the series. Ben has been one of my favourites in this series and I just don't think this book did him justice 😭 sweet caring Ben.

The only good parts I liked was the back and forth between siblings and the relationship between both MC had some sweet part (it had so much potential) I loved this pairing but again it just didn't flow.

I love this series and it’s amazing how well the author interacts all her characters even from the other series she has out. My only, only complaint with this book is I would have really enjoyed having Ben turn into his shifter bear form. 🤗

Oh no Koios, you have gasp a pelvic tilt !!!!

Can you hear how hard I rolled my eyes at that? What has happened to this series, no scratch that, to Blake's writing style? First, we have Scout which let's be real, not my fave. He was such a blank character for me, in fact it took me a hot minute to remember who he was. Then we get Ollie, FINALLY Ollie, only to have his book be a huge disappointment. Now Ben. Sweet Ben, why did it have to be this way?

Koios went from being this grumpy, brooding, mysterious character to a bumbling mess. The thing is, Blake has been doing this a lot to her characters lately, she won't maintain their original personalities and simply morphs them into one of many, one more of the same. This book felt rushed, the plot was weak. She spent so much of the book at the start talking about physiology ad nauseam, only to have it be completely forgotten, it just felt like such a big waste of time. The antagonist? Nowhere to be found, at all, until idk, the last 4 chapters at most and not even making a solid appearance until the very last minute and of course he was defeated in 2.3 seconds. The best example of how wrong she does her characters, Ben tells Koios he loves him in the last chapter, but did Koios? NOPE. Why is Blake shying away from the angst and excitement of previous books? This book was empty, EMPTY. What's more, the one maybe sex scene was a fade to black????? WHAT ??? After she wrote some of the most epic M/M I have 8 mates sex scenes, she fades to black? Unreal.

I don't know if she is now going YA, if she found Jesus, if she has decided she'll see more profit by keeping her "spicy" stuff behind a paywall, for me the first nail in the coffin was her narrator of choice and the last one was this book. I'm done.

Agree with other reviewers that it felt very rushed. I was looking forward to Ben’s book the most and it didn’t feel like we got much romance or personality in this book. The ending was fine but also just felt kinda anticlimactic. To be honest I think I would have rated this a little higher if there wasn’t a year between releases as well. It feels like if there’s a long wait between books in a series that the book should be well fleshed out and that’s just not what I felt with this one. It wasn’t a bad book and my review is relatively harsh for a 3 star review but it is a very forgettable book that was just okay, when I feel like this pairing could have easily been the best in the series and it fell flat.

Why do I feel like this was so anticlimactic? 50% of the way theough and things were JUST starting to happen and then everything else was so rushed... i HATED that all the spicy times happened off page.

I loved the banter, but everything felt so rushed through from the final confrontation to the weird epilogue. There was so much emotion in Coal's and Scout's book that this one was like the washed out cousin instead of the crown jewel to cap the series.

3.0 - 3.25 ☆ for me.

a good end to a great series

With Book 5 of Chosen Champion, finally Ben Jerrick gets his story & all the Jerrick kids we first met at the the beginning of the Chosen One Universe get their HEA.
This story is also a satisfying conclusion to the main villain arc in Chosen Champions.
Ben & Koios have a romance that is more innocent & sweet than we’ve seen previously in this series, but it makes sense for these characters who haven’t left the protection of their family very much.
This was a satisfying read. While the Chosen Champions series may be closing, there is definitely openings for more stories in this universe.

Too insta-lurve for me and some of the action in this book hinges on a little too much on way too lucky occurrences (for example .

Still, it passed the time and that was why I finished this series.

This better not be the last of the books in the chosen one universe, there were way too many unanswered questions.
I liked the main leads, but the image I had of Koios didn't match the way he behaved halfway through. It seemed like he was someone else...
There were quite a few mistakes and contradictions in this book.. though the one that completely threw me off was the manticore getting mad at them for calling him Jim as it supposedly was a nickname that Scout gave him??? Uh, what??? The manticore introduced himself as Jim when he met Scout, there was even a whole issue about the name being too mundane for all the evil things he's done, though that was a ridiculous thing.
Also, how the situation in the unseelie realm came to happen? That was questionable to say the least...
I really hope there's a new series in the chosen one universe, I think we need proper answers and closure... There are too many things we don't know about what Palinourus did all those years to the people and children... I would rather not read about a new villain, I want to know more about what truly happened, the women that were captured, the children's fate... Were there more that got away? What about the people that worked for Palinourus?? We see some of the more in need children in the magical mates books with the Smith pack but there are still too many unknowns.
I hope to have some answers as I really love this universe the author created and I would like a proper closure. I'll impatiently wait for the news.

Just Outstanding in every aspect

Rating: 5🌈

Oracle is a book that most readers will bring a compendium of knowledge about the universe, characters, and the impending crisis that the main characters immediately face. That’s really necessary.

For Macy Blake has been building up to this book through multiple series and standalone novels in the Chosen One universe to culminate in the events that occur during this story.

The gods, the magical warfare, all the stolen children that were used as experiments, all the ongoing trauma and battles, along with the mate bonding. Its leads to Oracles’ story and the being tormenting those around him, the manticore. Plus the gentle bear shifter , Dr Ben Jerrick, who has come to love Koios and his family.

Blake has written a beautifully balanced, excellently crafted novel that keeps the main character of Koios aka Oracle, in the narrative spotlight while also being able to continue with the forward movement of the other important universal themes. That’s the mystery behind this corrupt manticore, its background and the dark magical schemes behind its heinous actions.

It takes many of the main characters from all the series, banding together, to investigate who the manticore is, and begin the counterattack against it. That’s a storyline that’s not only thrilling but compelling as we’re introduced to new characters and another enlargement/explanation for Koios’ damaged body and magic.

All the while, along side, Koios, is Dr Ben Jerrick, healing, listening, giving him the support he needs and quietly loving him. Ben has been a strong staple of this universe since he was first found by Sam as a frightened young bear cub trying to escape with his younger “siblings “ from the horrors they’d endured as experiments. We’ve watched Ben grow and develop into the wonderful, thoughtful being and doctor he is here. So it’s everything that it’s his story as well.

Blake pours her heart into her characters and her excellence into the plotting to bring them and all the many themes and threads together to a great completion that’s satisfying and emotionally rewarding and powerful.

It makes me want to go back to when Sam first finds this young frightened, hurt group of mixed young shifters and his world and theirs is forever changed. What a journey!

That’s Sweet Nothings in case you’ve forgotten. I’m heading back to it now.

In the meantime, I’m highly recommending Oracle: Chosen Champions Book Five by Macy Blake . It’s outstanding but read the entire series. There’s a reading list of the book titles and series order on her website. Also at the end of each book.

Here too.

Happy reading!

Disappointing. (Probably major spoilers below)

There's no better word for it, for me personally. Completely disappointing. Ben does NOT belong to Koios. I absolutely hate how Koios treats Ben. Ben deserves SO much better than someone who prefers computers and staying in. Ben deserves someone like Ollie, who's happy, and fun, and funny, and outgoing, who would make Ben laugh and get him a bit out of his comfort zone. Who's king, and gentle, and warm. Koios is so very much not like that. I liked him before, but now, meeting him better, I don't like him very much, especially seeing how he treats Ben. And their relationship seems completely forced to me. Koios never had anyone being interested in him, and when Ben confesses he is, he's not shy in the slightest? I guess maybe he's not the type to be shy. I just never connected with Koios, he didn't make me like him at all, as far as his personality goes. He wasn't likable to me at all in his own book. He seemed so nice before, but now... Add in the way he treats Ben, who's so warm and kind, and just wanting to help him, and I really hated him.
I completely disapprove of this mating. Koios does NOT belong to Ben. At all. I was completely pissed at this. I started with pissed at how Koios treated Ben, then disappointment, and then back to anger. I couldn't even finish the book. That's how disappointed and angry I've been with this pairing.
And it breaks my heart. Because I was so looking forward to Ben's book, and now.... Ben deserves warmth, and fun, someone to go out with, hang out with friends and family, to make him laugh, to romance the heck out of each other.
And sadly, there's no getting a do-over. Gods, I'm getting pissed again just remembering the book. Sooo disappointing. I want to cry in rage and sadness.
Make a do-over. Put Ben with someone he deserves. Someone sweet, and kind, and warm, and and funny. Sure, Koios deserves love too, I suppose, even if I don't like him very much right now, but he doesn't belong to Ben. You got this pairing completely wrong. And it breaks my heart that I can't have a do-over.
And the whole book was disappointing too, not just the pairing. It felt rushed, and confusing. I didn't like it. And I hope the next books won't be the same way.
I want a do-over for Ben😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Let me start of with saying, this book was one of my most anticipated reads for this year. I absolutely love the world author Macy Blake created from the Chosen One, to the Champions, to the Magical Mates, etc, and I honestly cannot wait for what else is coming.

The worldbuilding and the involvement of the characters is exceptional.

That being said I have to give my opinion on this book, the final book in the chosen champion series, and as mentioned perhaps the most anticipated one, definitely where ths series is concurned.

I could not wait to finally see Ben and Koios come together to get their own story, to feel their love interaction, to see them spend time together and figure out their feelings, how they belong together.

And I didn’t get that…

Where the story is full of stuff happening, it is searching for the connecting moments between Ben and Koios, there is little intimacy, soulbonding.

The story drives on action, to get to the bottom of finding out what is happening with Koios and to get to the bottom of the enemy they have been fighting against for a long time.

The writing is as always great but the story fell flat, at least for me.

In a way I would say it could have been so much more, if that makes sense.

I could never give a low rating to any story in this world because the joy I have on reading about these family members in whatever form will always be satisfactory, but where I was hoping for the best story yet it wasn’t that.

I do recommend it to anyone who has been following this universe and is enjoying it as much as I do and to make sure to vouch your own opinion on it. It might just be me who was expecting too much or something different.

I am glad everyone got a happy ending but I hope we will be getting some extra content where we will feel and experience the love between Ben and Koios at least a bit more.

'Oracle' (Chosen Champions #5) by Macy Blake

This is the last book in this series (unless there are more forthcoming? although there doesn't seem to be), and I'm having mixed feelings about it, even though I liked some of it.

Maybe because I'm sad that it's the last book in this HUGE saga (22? books, I'll re-check; I've read them all).
And maybe because I feel like I'm missing info or details, or...something, in the last 3 books?

Oh, don't misunderstand me, this whole epic series storyline is fantastic, what with the whole 'Chosen Universe' world-building going on, and the character creations, it's actually mind-boggling!

And this book IS a bit better than Scout, which was disappointing to me, lacking a lot of details with some major characters and more spicy fun, (welp, come to think of it, this book was lacking in those too, and Koios personality seemed to diminish. I DO get that the main MCs were taking things slow, in Scout and in this book, due to each of their personal & professional situations. Same with the characters in this book, which can be a good thing...I mean, you know...learning how to love someone is more than just jump, hump, jab & jiggle, lol.

But, there seemed to be a sort of info or emotional disconnect between the last 2-3 books and her previous works? Between how characters acted in the earlier books and in this one... everyone seemed...hmm, lackluster or sort of toned down and not really acting like they had been in the past storylines. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the excitement and anticipation that the previous storylines held was mostly missing, although this last book, 'Oracle' did bring some of that wtf? (sorry, children...um, not ;D ) back, at the end. Too many loose ends, questions unanswered, sort of muddled through.

I wanted more time discovering the connections between Ben and his new-found love-mate. (yay to getting Ben's storyline!).
More time exploring the Unseelie realm.
More interactions with other family and pack members, as well as newly discovered family & friends.
I did love the unfolding connections between bear-shifter Dr. Ben and The Oracle/Koios...no one is really sure exactly what he is, at first, or where he came from, and that's a huge part of this journey!

However, the author has done a bang-up job creating all these inter-woven worlds of the magical fae, originally: humans, the Hell-realms, the Unseelie Realm, Fae Realm, gods & goddesses and all the in-betweens, some really wonderful characters...how does one keep track of it all? And wowza! There's some terrifying, hair-raising, nail-biting situations (yeah, all the good clichés!) and how all these fascinating characters deal with on-going life & death situations! The whole series is captivating!

So when you're up for a roller-coaster ride through some amazing fantasy-adventures and steamy sensual MM romances, with blood families and found families, with animal-human shifters, dragons, vampires, incubi, fauns, pixies, griffins, hobgoblins, and the whole fantasy-legend lot, some of which you may not even know about, go read this whole series!

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

This story has been a long time coming, both because of who Ben Jerrick is and because of the enemy they face. For me, this story was a bit of a mixed bag, and though there were parts I enjoyed immensely, other parts didn’t work quite as well. Let me say here that this book works best if you’ve read all the books in Macy Blake’s Chosen One universe, though that’s not strictly necessary. It is, however, necessary to have read all the books in the Chosen Champions series.

I, like many readers, have adored Ben from the moment he first showed up on page, way back in the prequel that kicked this whole universe off. He’s been through a lot, and with the love and support of his family, he’s turned into a strong and capable man.

3.5* rounded up Okay, I enjoyed it but didn't LOVE it. I felt like I somehow missed a book and that I should know all about Koios's siblings. The references to "the twins" like everyone knew who they were and his sisters. I'm pretty sure they weren't in other books, at least I don't remember them. I never really got the whole thing with the

The final scene was quite nerve wracking and I was quite anxious, and I'm glad it all worked out but Koios went from "we're not mates, get lost" to "we're mates, together forever" in a space of about 20 min. A little more time to see him accept it would be good.

But I loved seeing everyone from the other books so... it was still enjoyable, but for me, not because of the main couple, they were just part of the overall plot, not the feature.

I always love the stories in the Chosen One universe, since we always get to visit so many old friends.

But this one wasn't one of my tippy-top favorites for a couple of reasons.

First, Ben has always been kind of bland and I barely remembered who Koios was, when his identity of the Oracle was revealed. #WhoDat?

Second, while a lot of the previous books contained tons and tons of action, there was practically none of it until around 80% into the story.

My favorite parts of this one were from that 80% on, where things started heating up and we finally got to see the evil manticore on-page again.

Don't get me wrong, this was still a good book and I'm glad that I read it, but I'd say it rates at around 3.5 stars.

Here we have the end to the Chosen Champions Series and I got see Ben one of favourites from the very first book get his HEA. Was it the best of the series, no, but it was still highly enjoyable for me.
I found d this one a lot slower than the previous books as there was a lot less action. With Koios being injured for the majority of the book it couldn't have the same pace. I liked that Ben used his knowledge to help Koios find options to try and help with the weight of his wings.

I not sure I understand everything that happened to Koios and why it happened and how it tied in to his heritage, I admit I did get a bit confused here. but I did love seeing old favourites from the different series and I actually enjoyed the character that was introduced. I also enjoyed the way the manticore storyline was resolved and the implications from that.

Overall it was a good read and I do hope that the other series continues

Ben deserved better

I LOVE EVERY SINGLE BOOK Macy has written. The stories are incredible and the spicy scenes keep you checking your surroundings to make sure no one’s reading over your shoulder lol….but…..this book….our dear beloved Ben….our big soft bear…..got screwed over. The story was rushed, which I never thought I’d hear myself say about a Macy book and there were ZERO spicy scenes!!! I know they’re not “everything” but come on….part of the reason we love Macy’s books are the spicy bits ….and all we got were a couple of pg 13 make out scenes and then they’re married? I hate writing this review because I feel like a traitor as a fan, but damn….this book made me sad….Im not even sad for me….Im sad for Ben :(

Another awesome story. This is one of my favorite bookverse series. I loved finally getting Ben and Koios story. I normally try to avoid to bad reviews but I usually end up reading some. My response to those who complained about this story being to short or their love happening to fast is that I feel sorry for them because apparently the have never read any of the other stories in this bookverse. It wasn't like they are meeting for the first time. This is a couple whose story built over several books. I have read pretty much every story in this bookverse multiple times. I can happily read Sweet Nothings practically once a month.(I do try not to though). I am so looking forward to more stories by Ms Blake.

Finally Ben gets his HEA

I have had a soft spot for Ben since he and his siblings we're rescued and became part of the Jerrick pack. And it's fitting that he and Koios ,who turned out to be the Oracle, are the ones who ends the series.
Ben and Koikos are so sweet and awkward together in the beginning but it very soon becomes clear that there is a strong bond between them. I love how Ben brings Koikos out of his shell and how Logan and Bailey just knows that Koikos and his siblings are meant to be pack.
I love this series and this book andvI hope we get more books in this universe.
