Am I proud of this read? No.
If anyone I know sees this, no you didn’t 👀

I saw an ad for this book and had to see how it ended.

The plot wasn’t too bad (although underdeveloped). If you’re looking for good writing or you’re here for the smut, I wouldn’t recommend as there’s way better things you could be reading. However, if you’re intrigued by the plot, can overlook bad writing and grammar and don’t mind trashy wattpad vibes then this might be for you.

I will continue to read this series purely because I wanna see how it ends.

Not good!

The story was going ok, I read about ⅔ of the book, but it was hard to read. Bad grammar, wrong words used, poor sentence structure, it was hard to follow. And to make it even worse, two characters were named Alaiah and Anaiah. However, the author couldn't get them right, so you didn't know who was whom half the time. I couldn't finish the book. It was just too draining to read. It didn't flow, I had to keep reading sentences over and over till I figured out what they were supposed to mean. Plus, the story kinda fizzled out for me, and the sex scenes left a lot to be desired, no pun intended. I don't recommend this series. Don't waste your time.

I’m not sure what I expected knowing this was a book from one of those pay by chapters sites. I actually read this online on a free site thankfully because it was so bad I would have been furious if I paid for it. Spoilers below but overall don’t recommend it’s a terrible story.

First, the grammar and dialogue is terrible - but I thought perhaps English was not the authors first language so tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. Second, the plot and characters were so bad I skimmed from 50% on just to see what would happen. Basically everyone in the book, except for maybe two characters, abuse the heroine. She is rejected by her mate who she someone still had a tiny crush on after he would slap her, allow others to beat and yell at her for basically nothing. Then she gets a second chance mate who is the Lycan king and of course her other mate now wants her back. The Lycan king seemed fine until he literally whips her for disobeying him about something….really? And after he saw how terrible she was whipped by her old pack and he was so upset about it? That was when I just gave up and skimmed the rest very quickly. She continues to have sex with him - which was also very strange there were times when he would just have sex with her with no foreplay and she said it was almost painful - like this is her second chance mate? Anyway you find out he doesn’t mark her because he is engaged to someone else and isn’t telling her. Even his sister who is supposed to be such a great friend to the heroine doesn’t tell her. Once she finds out she runs away and finds out she is a chosen one from an old pack that is royalty and she finds her long lost brother who is prob the only one in the story who doesn’t betray or abuse her - although who knows what happens in the next book. Anyway I would not recommend - this story was all over the place and the men were all terrible - all these alphas just having sex with all these random omegas whenever they wanted but thinking about the heroine because they wanted her? And her Lycan king while he doesn’t cheat on her explicitly is just not seeming all that great with the beating and then pushing some random BDSM on her. Honestly was hoping the heroine just left them all and stayed with her brother.

Could have been a really good story but the editing is atrocious. It's so bad that I found myself waiting for the next badly worded (or AI pronounced) misstep rather than paying attention to the story.
******
17% it's so bad. It wants to be a good story but the writing is so bad and it makes no sense and authors writing about things they know nothing about adds insult to injury.

So bad.
******
Reading this on one of those apps and the writing is so bad I have to wonder if it's AI or perhaps written by someone who doesn't speak English well. The grammar is distractingly bad.

It might be a never edited first draft.

DNF: Made it to Ch 17 (not bery far for a web novel) out of curiosity for where this was going, but then I gave up. I tried to keep the info in my review on the technical and storytelling aspects of this novel so there shouldn't be any spoilers.

The number of typos and grammatical errors actually wasn't too bad. I have seen much worse. I assume the author used a grammar and spell check tool, but the work could have used a few more manual checks.

The author must be young or very inexperienced. This book reads similarly to a Wattpad fanfiction written by a middle-schooler The narrative, actions, and events are listed out with little transition or flow between thoughts. This works fine for a rough draft or when plotting the story out, but feels disjointed and off-putting in a published work. We aren't always given all of the relevant background information either. There were several moments where I felt like I was missing context or the story skipped over something important; leaving me confused while trying to put the pieces together. Other times a bit of context is thrown into the relevant paragraph like an afterthought.

The author's handling of a character with abuse trauma is naive and unrealistic; even for a story with the fated mates and insta-love tropes. The MC is too quick to trust her new family/packmates and move on from the stage where she was wary skittish. The narrative also waltzes right past scenes with violence or aggression that you would reasonably expect to be triggering for the MC. This oversight and lack of critical thinking from the author makes the MC feel underdeveloped as a character.

The Lycan’s Rejected Mate Book 1

From the very first page of Rejected Mate I was utterly hooked — it delivered everything I love in paranormal romance: sizzling chemistry, emotional stakes, and a world that feels immersive and rich. The characters leapt off the page, and the fated-mate connection was instant but well-earned, which made their journey together all the more satisfying.

What I adored most was how the author balanced the supernatural elements with genuine emotional rawness. The hero is strong, dominant yet vulnerable, and the heroine’s resilience and heart allowed her to stand as the perfect match — not just by fate, but because she earned him. Their connection felt magical, but also grounded and real.

The spice level was deeply satisfying: there were scenes of intense attraction, desire, and heat, yet they were woven into the story in a way that enhanced the plot, rather than distracting from it. If you love shapeshifter/parasexual romances with both strong world-building and steamy payoff, this book delivers.

The pacing was perfect — I found myself turning pages late into the night, eager to see not just if they would come together, but how. The conflict (internal and external) was compelling, the setting vivid, and the resolution earned.

In short: Rejected Mate is a fantastic start to a new series. It stays fresh, emotional, and passionate. I can’t wait for Book 2 to dive back into this amazing world. Highly recommended for fans of paranormal romance who are ready to be utterly absorbed!

This is where negative stars should be an option. Please don’t read this book. I came across this story from one of those chapter apps where you need tokens and what not to read the book and it will take 100 years. I figured I’d just buy it even though the story line is pretty typical. Outcast shifter rejected by her mate who secretly loves her mates with a better alpha male but turns out she has amazing powers. Plus side stories for the sister and her forbidden love.

If you are going to require people to pay to read a book and invest time in it, then hire an actual writer and an editor. This feels like it was written by AI. The story itself was hard to follow and the grammar just made it worse. I should have DNF’d after the fourth chapter plowed through for the sake of my money. It ends on a “cliffhanger” but I can’t bear to mistreat myself any further.

Tried to like it.

The first chapters of this book were portrayed as an add for those reading apps that cost a fortune. A quick Google search showed I could find on Kindle instead.... I should have left it as a teaser. This book jumps through so many plotlines without actually developing any of the characters. The whiplash given to me by the storyline didn't hold a candle to the ache in my head caused by the constant spelling, grammar and word usage errors. The sex was poorly written and incredibly unimaginative, almost like it was written by a 13 year old boy getting his "knowledge" from amateur porn sites and comic books. I'm not going to waste another penny trying to force the remaining 10 in the series.

So the plot of this book wasn't bad, but it wasn't really developed. It was like a quick read with no real meaning. The story was just going on without having a goal. I don't know how to explain, its like their wasn't a plot other from the main character being the Lycan's mate. She does learn more about herself, but it doesnt have an impact on the storyline much. Anyways, I will probably be reading the next book just to know what happens, but I don't recommend reading it. And also, there was so much grammar mistakes.

Good Book

I just think it’s crazy book to read. It just seems like everyone is after something. Thinking that whatever they are after will finally make them happy.

And what’s up with some people rejecting their Mates. Which has never made any sense to me. Especially when The Moon Goddess has ordained the Mate bond herself.

People forgetting one important fact about the Goddess and The Mate Bond. The Goddess has her reason for putting certain people together as Mates. It’s a process that can’t be mess with or change. People can’t change what The Moon Goddess wants.

Whats grammar?

I have doubts that the author's first language is English. There are far too many grammar and spelling mistakes. If an editor even glanced at this, I would be surprised. The plot was ok but it is a struggle to discover a plot amidst the mass of grammatical errors and misspellings. How Amazon could actually charge money for this is kind of shocking. They can do better as well.

Loved the storyline

I really loved the storyline of this book, but the editing was horrendous. There were so many grammatical errors and typos on every page that it made it hard to read. The author truly could not decide if they were telling the story in the present or last tense. I actually purchased this book for $4.99 and there were more errors in this book than in the ones I download for free. Very disappointing.

This book caught me in an ad for a game I was playing. Of course the ad ended in a love triangle cliff hanger. I needed to know who she picked as her mate. The story was ok. The writing was bad though. I'm not sure if English is a second language for the author, but there was clearly no editor involved. I know there are more books in this series, but I figured out who she choose in this one, so I'm good.

Poorly written

This book appears to have been written by someone who doesn't understand the English language. Tenses and genders are mixed throughout. The book also does not seem to have been edited for typos or grammatical errors.
While the story line is interesting, it is old. There so many " rejected mates "
books on the market; that if those story lines are going to be continued, something fresh and new needs to be added in order to keep the reader interested.

If you can overlook bad grammar, spelling mistakes and poor sentence structure, it’s a good read, not great but good! I liked the story, I liked almost all the characters although some were very childish. I liked how you got to know everyone, hear their background and so on.
But I had a really hard time overlook the grammar and the spelling.

great story!

I love the story line and the lycan world development in the book BUT… there were so many grammatical and spelling mistakes it was very very distracting. If we are paying for these books the author needs to please get some good editors or proofreaders to insure that these problems do not occur.

In desperate need of an editor

I had a difficult time following the story because the author's thoughts were disjointed, they kept changing tense, and grammar was poor all around. If English is not your first language (which was my impression) please get an English editor to review your book before you start selling it.

Good story line

I enjoyed the book was a little put off that even with Kindle subscription that it was a purchase book. Yet had enough credit to get for free. Now I'll build more credits for next book. Also a purchase book. It's not a stand alone so it must be read in order. It is a good book. Just a little put out that even with monthly subscription I have to pay for books.

Not as advertised

Listed as 481 pages on Amazon and Kindle version wasn't even 200 pages and ended super abruptly. Needs a lot of editing amd it seems to cut from scene to scene a lot with little happening. Would be interested to see where it goes but it's not worth it for the price and quality.

I liked the story. Sometimes it was strange to read because of grammatical errors but I figured it out. There is no indication at the beginning of the book that it is a two book series. I liked how the bonus chapters wrapped up the stories of all the family in the end.

Good story line

Great story but confusingly shuffled together. And the mis prints and spelling errors are distracting! Someone didn’t proofread. The book got redundant. I skipped to the last two chapters to finish it. Disappointed that I paid for this book.

Good story; bad editing

As noted in the subject line, it's a good story but the editing is very bad. Seems to be a theme with Kindle. No editing. Come on it's not that hard to do a bit of editing. Help out your authors.
