David Lane is a bad boy rockstar, and Becca Hamilton is the Vice President’s daughter and has always felt the pressure to be perfect.
Becca develops an unattainable schoolgirl crush on David, while he doesn’t even notice she’s there until she shows up to his last show before hitting global fame. They share a magnetic connection and the first night of scandal.
The entire world seems to want to keep them apart. They spend 5 years watching and falling for each other from afar, and they never forget the feelings they had with a shared almost kiss. David has to know if it still exists because while he has many partners, she is the leading lady of his fantasies. He shows up at her yoga studio, and the heat and passion burn brighter than ever, leading to another global scandal.
David is launching his first solo tour, and while the world and fans are screaming that he should be single, that she will only hurt his career, and his numbers, he can’t live without her again. Becca has a choice to follow his dreams or her own goals, but David is the first man to see Becca as herself, not a political pawn in a game she doesn’t want to play. She has to choose between the man, and what’s being pushed on them for the best regarding both of their dreams.
This book is a great pallet cleanser. Becca and David have been in the same circle their whole lives but it isn’t until their 20s when something actually happens. The spice in this is chefs kiss. The ending was not expected. I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
This was such a delightful second chance rockstar romance where the spice comes in fast, but not in a way that makes the story unbelievable. Becca and David are children of the political world, so they are both used to the media in their faces, but it consumes them once their relationship starts becoming more noticeable. In the past, Becca walked that good girl politician’s daughter line, while David lived the rockstar lifestyle, giving him a bit of a bad boy reputation. With David, Becca explores her spicy side and it was so steamy and had me blushing. There are also discussions surrounding addiction, so just be mindful of that. Overall, I loved this book and can’t wait to read more books from this author.
I absolutely fell in love with Becca and David! To know that you loved somebody so young is amazing! They are perfect and the chemistry is top notch! Thank you so much for this great rockstar love story!
4.25 stars! I really enjoyed this super steamy rock star romance! Becca and David have a history, of sorts, but this isn’t a childhood friends, and it’s not second chance. At best, it’s probably childhood crush, that’s the way I could best describe it. Their families run in the same political circles, her dad was vice president, his dad a senator. And while he was a few years older, Becca always noticed him, even if he didn’t notice her. Until she shows up at the club he’s playing at with his band right before he goes on tour - he’s 19, she’s 16 (sneaking out and dressing up for a chance to see him before he leaves), when he finally notices her, but doesn’t actually register who she is. A near kiss, and an unforgettable almost moment for both of them is all they have as they move forward in their lives. Flash forward a few years, where he has become a big rock star, she continued with school, with her own designs on a career more centered in political life like her father. But when David gets a glimpse of Becca, bringing back those old memories and feelings, he decides a whim to seek her out, take her to dinner, and maybe see if there really was something more between them. And that’s just the first few chapters.
This is a very meaty story, with lots and lots of spice, that not only gives us this runaway freight train that is Becca and David’s romance, but also their own individual stories that absolutely steer that train as they navigate their own aspirations, their own demons, and their own identities. Their chemistry is instantaneous. The spice hits early with this one, and it really doesn’t stop. The heart of this story is how Becca and David figure out how they fit in each other’s lives, while still holding onto their own dreams, which is especially true for Becca. Their worlds are very different, but when David decides he wants everything with Becca, he is more than determined to convince her that they belong together. As for Becca, as much as she feels for David, she’s definitely torn - not helped at all by the scandal that follows them, and the other challenges the universe drops in their path. It’s an interesting journey for both of them. They have a great relationship, and I love the little things that add levity to their story as well. David’s interactions with the secret service being one of my favorite things. We also see more of David’s family, and given that this is the first of the series centered on the Lane siblings, we get a nice set up for David’s sister and her potential story coming down the road as well.
I love a good rock star romance, and this one didn’t disappoint. Adding that extra component of their political celebrity, and this takes on a more unique spin that definitely kept my interest, and I’m looking forward to more of this series.
This is probably one of my new favorite romance books EVER!!!! the spice and smut comes really quick, and the love story is just purely BEAUTIFUL. Theirs ample drama, whilst also giving us insights into their day to day lives as well (WHICH I LOVE) I can't wait for the second book! I am so in love with David and Becca's relationship it's not even funny! He's definitely my newest book boyfriend obsession!
I read this book in under 24 hours. It was a quick and cute read, but the spice was there! I loved the short and sweet chapters, her writing was fluid and amazing! I really enjoy a MC that is completely in love with FMC and devours her constantly! Definitely recommend checking this book out and adding it to your TBR!
I thought this book was an amazing rockstar romance and it really was one of those books you enjoy reading in between or after a dark romance I literally felt the tension between the fmc and mmc and the passion and the spice was well written and I recommend it!
This book was beautifully written from begin to end. The love story between David and Becca was dynamic. David’s feelings were felt through every page I read. The few twist at the end kept me on my toes. I can not wait for S.L’s next book.
