Marley Jenkins is a dedicated first-grade teacher living in Vermont, completely enamored by her students. Her boyfriend, Nick Lavoy is handsome, successful, and charming, and wasted no time sweeping Marley off her feet.
But when Nick suddenly leaves for a work trip to Ohio, Marley feels somewhat confused about where she stands on Nick’s list of priorities. He’s distracted and careless, making her doubt everything she thought she knew about him.
Fletcher Thompson is the type of guy who would do anything for his best friend, Nick. So, when Nick asks him to be there for Marley if she needs anything while he’s away, of course, he agrees. After all, Marley is his friend too.
But the truth is, Fletcher fell for Marley the same night Nick did. And since Nick swooped in and stole her attention first, Fletcher had no choice but to keep his feelings a secret.
As Marley struggles to ease the growing doubts in her mind about her relationship with Nick, she turns to Fletcher for advice. She questions if there is any truth in the future they had mapped out.
Fletcher is caught in the middle of their relationship while teetering on the edge of betraying his best friend and exposing his true feelings for the woman he has loved all along.
And when everything comes crashing down, the question remains: will there be anything left for any of them to hold on to?
Marley, a first-grade teacher, meets Nick and Fletcher at a bar one night. She didn’t think their presence in her life would last, but it did, and six months later she’s dating Nick.
Life is good. Mostly.
When Nick goes on a work trip and asks Fletcher to be there for Marley while he’s gone, Fletcher doesn’t hesitate. They’re friends, but what Marley and Nick don’t know are the secret feelings Fletcher has had since the first night they all met.
Marley now has to navigate the growing doubts in her relationship with Nick in light of how Fletcher treats her.
I love a good love triangle and @jenlacrossauthor delivers. This dual POV has descriptive prose that puts you inside Marley and Fletcher’s minds and has you questioning what choices will be made.
Almost Yours By Jennifer LaCross Another adorable story by Jennifer LaCross. Marley, our female main character, falls and falls hard for Nick. He has her convinced he’s everything she wants in life. It isn’t until Nick needs to leave town for work, when Nick asks Fletcher, his best friend, to keep his eye on Marley while he’s gone. Unbeknownst to Marly, Fletcher has an interest in Marley and is unsuccessful in keeping his feelings at bay. Marley has to pick up a mess when everything comes crashing down. Few friendships or intimate relationships could survive under these circumstances. This was a wonderful read.
I absolutely loved and adored this book. I literally devour Jennifer’s books and can’t wait to see the outcome. Definitely a page turner and highly recommend!!!
What happens when two guys fall in love with the same girl? What happens when you question what you deserve?
Writing this book, I wanted to express Marley's character in a way that *hopefully* many of us could relate to. New relationships are hard. We see what we want to see and build it up in our heads to make it everything we need it to be.
It's easy to overlook. It's easy to love too hard. It's easy to lose ourselves along the way.
Sometimes bonds will be broken if what means everything to us is at stake. Sometimes we need to step back and evaluate our place so that we can figure out what it is that we truly deserve.
I hope you come to love Marley and Fletcher as much as I do.
I’m not sure how this book has 4.5 stars. This might be my least favorite read of the year and was so cringy. I had to force myself to finish and I skimmed so much of the inner monologue.
The characters have known each other for SIX MONTHS and within the first like 3 chapters Marley is upset Nick didn’t propose. Also in this SIX MONTHS, Nick’s best friend who has never spent any alone time with Marley, apparently falls head over heels in love with her. This book was love bombing at its core and I felt no connection to any character.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a nice easy read to get lost in. The characters were all lovable, even Nick! Thank you Jennifer for the copy on Goodreads. Im glad I was a winner and started reading it that night. I can’t be sure if I’ve read any others but I’ll be sure to pick up more of Jennifer’s feel-good books! I’ll be passing this one on to my friend.
Almost Yours definitely scratched the itch for a good boyfriend’s bestfriend/roommate romance which happens to be one of my favorite tropes. The emotions were high, the characters lovable, the writing creative, and the ending satisfying.
This was a delicious love story! This couple was so sweet. It took some time but they finally figured it out! You made this a great way to spend a rainy afternoon!
I really enjoyed this sweet story. The Vermont setting is beautifully described, and loved the main characters. Another great book from Jennifer LaCross!
