A nefarious plot… Leander Steyning, The Marquess of Wrexham, was the ton’s most eligible bachelor. Handsome, charismatic, rich and titled, everything Wrexham wanted came to him with ease.
Until the day he went blind.
Three years on and losing his sight has dashed his confidence and given his avaricious father and half-brother the opportunity they need to take control of his finances and get rid of him. He is living on a battleground, where dangers lurk in his sightless world, and the future looms with fears of madness, and even death.
A tenacious young lady… Miss Emmeline Knight is a good girl. Her sisters may have made their poor father tear his hair out at the roots with their exploits, but despite having an inability to hold her tongue when she ought to know better, she has never given her parents a moment's concern.
Until now.
A mad plan… When Wrexham asks her to run away with him, offering her title and fortune for a marriage in name only, Emmeline knows she ought to refuse. Wrexham’s bloodline is tainted, and his blindness is the first symptom of a disease which will end with insanity. Though she knows it's ridiculous to run away with a man she barely knows and whose future is uncertain, Wrexham needs her, and Emmeline is prepared to risk everything, her reputation, her heart, and even her life, for the only man who has ever risen to the challenge of her sharp tongue.
A surprising love story… Two near strangers, eloping to Gretna Green, is a challenging enough adventure for anyone, but for Wrexham, the outside world is fraught with difficulty. As Emmeline comes to understand her husband to be, she falls harder for a proud man with a fierce determination to live on his own terms, but saving him from his vile family is only part of the challenge she faces.
Winning his heart is another thing entirely
**** This is the seventeenth book in the series and focuses on the children of The Girls Who Dare series. They can be read separate from Girls Who Dare; however, for a more intimate experience, one should read the Girls Who Dare first. The reading order for Daring Daughters 'Heat rating of 3' -Spicy, descriptive and provocative, but not erotica.

After such a hell of a working day, running around like a lunatic, when it had been impossible to read at length as I am usually able to, I was finally happy to be able to settle on the couch to dig quietly in the second half of this book. Especially as the first has been a wild ride with all the twists and turns the characters subjected us.
I would recommend to read this series in order to fully understand the dynamic between the many characters, and even better to begin with its mother’s series Girls Who Dare.
This episode is quite a turnover as it gives more insights of what to expect for the ne t books and the upcoming sequel series with hints about the sons from Fred, Lyall and others. And after the ending of the previous book, oh my! Cat!!!! She did it again, meddling and landing in a mess. And there is Aggie too.
But now it is first about Emmeline and Wrexham. Emmeline would not be a Knight if she did not marry in a fashion to leave its own mark. Like mother, like daughter. So it is an elopement to Gretna Green. And nothing will deter her from her mission, she entered in this mad dash, eyes fully open, aware of the risks and ready for the consequences. Wrexham is at his tether-end, knowing there will little left of him if he can not escape from his present circumstances. I wondered why a wife would save him from his father’s clutches. And outside the notion of a potential heir, it appeared it was his only option to hijack his sire’s grubby hands from his fortune. He is such a sweet fellow with a temper, mostly one arisen by his frustrations as he must rely on others to go on. Vexing for the proud man he is. Why Emmeline is well matched with him, she learned from a young age that explosive mood does not systematically means violence or bad news, just a way to cope with things. After all, she is Gabriel Knight’s daughter.
The resolution of their predicament is fun as it partners some high in colors side characters. But as usual the author leaves us with many leads for the upcoming books, and even if the cover of the next story showed it would not be Cat’s, I did not see the last twist coming.
Another achievement with this sweet romance and the wicked way of the author to make us long from the next installment. 5 stars

Another fantastic story from Ms. Leech. E and W have a beautiful romance and their relationship is heartwarming to explore through the novel. Beautiful intimate moments and some steamy ones too! As always, there is thorough research evident in the thoughtful descriptions from W's perspective which are sympathetic and believable. The snippets from Cat and Kilbane, as well as Fred and Aggie are tantalising - as always I will be back for more!!
Loved this book. Really connected with Wrexham and Emmeline - the main characters. The story had plenty of plot twists and as per most of Emma’s books lots of exciting subplots. By the end of the letter at the start of chapter 3 I was in shock at how much had already happened to so many characters and excited to see what happened next!
Emma V. Leech is one of my two favorite romance authors (the other being Stacy Reid).
I was dying for this book ever since Emmeline and Rex were first teased, and I was NOT disappointed! This book was absolutely fabulous and made it onto my top favorite romances list. It has been days and I still cannot get these wonderful characters out of my head. Not to mention it has stirred up lots of anticipation for the other romances it teased within it. I'm waiting with baited breath.
This book was everything I hoped it would be, and more. Having a brother that went blind at the age of 16 the depiction of Wrexham and his issues with losing his sight were relatable and genuine to me. Loved this story!
I am always spellbound when I read her books. My problem is I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about them. I end up getting out of bed and reading for about an hour before I go back to bed. It’s so worth it though. Can’t wait for the next one.
I think I may have a new favorite for this series? In all honesty, it was this book's description that made me pick this series back up so I had already expected to like this one, and it did not disappoint. I think emma did a great job as always of giving the characters background and personality, as well as creating deeper conflict in this novel. I'm almost sad that i finally made it through these books because now I have no rainy day books for when I can't find something to read. I'm looking forward to Cat and Kilbane and Aggie and Fred in the next couple of books. Only thing I'm not ready for is a five year time jump, because it means the end is even nearer. But in contrast, being closer to 'Wicked Sons' release is exciting!!
I adore Emmeline and Wrexham together. The snippets we saw of the two together in previous books was super promising, so I have been waiting for their story. Both are lovely characters, and I appreciate that Wrexham is blind and Emmeline is stepping in to save him from his father.
Their relationship development is so sweet - and I enjoyed their story. The father/drama with Wrexham's step-brother was the main conflict, along with Wrexham and Emmeline's elopement. This didn't have the highest stakes or complexity - but that's a very minor complaint. Overall, it was super enjoyable - it just lacked a bit of tension and angst. Not that I was bored at all - but a little something would have been appreciated. Wrexham and Emmeline fell in love so quickly, I was a bit surprised there wasn't more back and forth there.
The snippets of Cat and Kilbane, and that turn of events!, was lovely and unexpected. And Fred/Aggie - I'm excited to see how both stories play out.
It appears the next book is taking place after a 5-year time jump, and will focus on Aggie/Fred - but it seems like Kilbane and Cat will be in the story somehow! I'm super excited, and love the direction Cat and Kilbane's story is heading (i.e., forced marriage + reconciliation).
You know when you are having a great week but still you want time to hurry up so you can read that book you’ve been waiting for? Well, that happened to me!!! 🤣
Oh my gosh! Emma V. Leech never disappoints! Each book, each love story is unique and beautiful!
This time we get to read about Emmeline and Rex! ❤️ Miss Milly is what a Daring Daughter aught to be! Brave and adventurer, but also romantic, loyal and fights for what she wants. Just like the mothers before them!
And Rex? What a complicated hero. He could have been defeated by his circumstances, but instead he fought for his life and found in Emmeline a partner who would walk beside him through all life’s hardships! Lovely love story!
And this author always gives small snippets for future stories of characters that we already love, so there’s always anticipation for the new book and knowing that when you finish it the waiting begins again! 🤣
I highly recommend Truly, Madly, Daring, but you should definitely start at the beginning of the serie! With Dare to be Wicked! Or better yet, start with To Dare a Duke! ❤️
Out of all the HR books by Ms. Leech, I have to be honest and say, this, this book has been one of my absolute FAVORITES. Wrexham is a hero for the ages. The way she has portrayed, not just his blindness, but his fears, his hopes, his realities and his vulnerabilities makes him a man one can so easily relate to, identify with and definitely someone to root for! And Emmeline Knight remains true to the Daring Daughter philosophy. She is daring, courageous and insightful with a heart to match.
The two of them together make a wonderful and amazing couple.
Add in a fast-paced storyline that never drops a beat and includes lots of poignant, sweet and some downright sexy moments, combined with a threat of danger and intrigue at every turn culminating in the BEST ending.... makes this a GREAT book and once again, an all time favorite!
This is a stellar addition to this incredible series. I loved everything about this book. Wrexham is a wonderfully vulnerable character with the capacity to grow and change in ways he never expected. Emmeline is a smart, strong, and compassionate woman who's never given her parents a bit of worry until she elopes with Wrexham. She does leave a note for her parents who eventually catch up with the newlyweds. The story evolves with twists and turns until the lovely conclusion. The surrounding characters are well written and a happy addition to the plot. I loved the inclusion of characters from past books. It's always wonderful to revisit old friends. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a well written romance.
What a stunning read! As to be expected by the ever marvellous Emma V Leech. I think this is my favourite Daring Daughters book to date, which is saying something.
I’ve been desperately waiting for Emmaline and Wrexham’s book ever since their first meeting at the Duchess of Bedwin’s dinner party and this did not disappoint. Not only are we given the perfect story for the main characters, full of adventure, love, twists & turns, and cameos from favourite characters past, but in true EVL style, we’re also set up for upcoming books too. My jaw is on the floor at the ending and preview of the following book.
I have been looking forward to this book for a long time. It was well worth waiting for.I love how we get The w glimpses o of what future books will be about. It looks as if Cat will have to wait for her happy ending until laterr. , The description of how these two young people who had only met a few times found love was well written , but I still have to make sure I check the bath before I get in. I am so glad Mr Knights plan worked and I hope we will head about Lord Cecile reformation after his talk with the Doctor.
The Daring Daughters only become more compelling in this story! Emmeline and Wrexham's story starts long before this book making the story grab you from the first words resulting in one's body race with anticipation with every page! Cat/Kilbane's and Aggie/Fred's stories takes hold with fury. Emma Leech doesn't seem to ever let her fans down. She always delivers the happy ending but leaves her fans wanting so much more as the queen of romance cliffhangers!
I loved Emmeline and Wrexham from their very first encounter! This book was just as enticing as I thought it would be! Their relationship is funny and heartwarming as it develops, and their trust grows. I love how her parents deal with it all, as well as the superb ending. Once again, I'm eagerly waiting for the next book in the series. Well done!
This is another magnificent thriller of a story that is a great addition to the series, which only keeps on getting better. There is lots of emotion and some suspense, which together with the strong and amazingly crafted characters , make this a very compelling read.
It just kept getting better, there was no way I could put it down. The story itself was wonderful. The subplots for things to come were intriguing (and frustrating as you want more!) . I have read them all and this is one of my favourites.
I love this series so much. I was excited and fist pumping through out the book. This is one of my most favorite authors. It is not a stand alone. I loved this couple so much. I wish they had told us why Duke Sedton hated his son. I was hoping they would tell us he wasn’t really his son, but no.
I could not wait for this book, and it exceeded all expectations! Thank you for writing Millie and Rex’ story! All of Ms. Leech’s characters are well-developed and true to life. The writing is beautiful and impassioned, and I think I have finished each one within a day. Be prepared to walk around with book in hand because you will not want to put it down. And now back to eagerly awaiting the next release date.
Another wonderful book! I tried to read it slowly, but devoured it in no time. I fall in love with every character. I love how even though this is Rex & Emmeline's book we still check in with Cat & Auggie. Dying for the next book to come out.
Another excellent book from Emma V Leech. Wrexham and Em are wonderful together. They best Wrexham's evil father and half brother with the help of those loyal to Rex. Waiting impatiently for Aggie and Fred's story. Love this series and its predecessors.
Omg it was so hard to put down the story once I started! It was well written and a page turner. You never know what was going to happen one page to the next. It had all the feels.
Before reading this, I'd come to terms with the fact that Emma Leech is going to continue her books in this series using the same structure: start out by focusing on the MC's, but then around halfway through, shift to at least one other couple (or two) and then continue intermixing their storyline with the main characters'. It's not a format I love, but I seem to be in the minority.
I had to read this because of Emmeline and Rex. From the previous book, I knew their backstory, and Emma Leech is fantastic when she focuses on unique or differently abled characters (if you've not yet read "Flaming June" from her previous series, do yourself a favor and read it ASAP). And she does a great job with their banter, their developing relationship, and their steamy scenes. I really wanted the whole book to focus on them--but of course it doesn't.
With two other couples' stories winding into the framework of Emmeline and Rex's, you really need to have read the previous books to stay committed to this and not skip chapters. I will admit to doing some skipping toward the end, as I was really only invested in Rex and Emmeline's HEA.
5 STARS for Book 17 in Emma V Leech's Series Daring Daughters. If one is a fan of this writer then the characters in this book are mostly familiar & loved. After all, we love our peculiar ladies & the sinfully sexual men they married & have children with. Going on, we now are devouring the excitement they put in their parents lives as they do some of the same bizarre things they had done, such as run away with men to elope to Gretna Green, Scotland, or get caught in compromising situations in public in front of one of the Tons biggest gossip spreader there is, & or just put themselves in horrible situations because of overhearing horrible snobbery conversation from their beau's awful university peers & so called friends that they believe it's better to just be traumatized than to be humiliated or let your beau get into fights & loose his friends & peers. This storyline was fascinating & fast-paced. It was based around a Valentine's Ball & Wedding and from our group of wonderful ladies & the men they chose many of them & their offsprings. Letters poured forth to & from the group that couldn't attend as usual. We follow several girls that start their journeys in Book 17, but we have to find out more about their stories in future books. Wrexham & Emmeline are our main couple we follow. His father the Duke is chasing after them to declare Wrexham, insane just because he is blind. A horrible man his father & half brother with bully thugs . The pressure put on the young couple only make them closer & it's a delicious delightful read as they transfer from the different types of transportation on their rush to the north. Also, the fact this writer thought to spice up a bath scene with 6 sets of pig eyes floating in the tub definitely shows it's a worthy read. RECOMMEND
I had many tasks to perform today. Plans. I was hoping to save this book for a few days. Nope... Once I opened it I was gone. My daughter gets extra chocolate, my dogs get their munching treats, and I could not stop reading it! Emma V Leech gets better and better! This was a wonderful book! Another one! I need to stop myself from screaming "Emma, please write faster!!!!!!!", because she writes fast. So I will humbly tremor with anticipation for the final installment in the series. Thank you Ema V Leech for a fabulous, real, romantic, piece of literature. And laughter. I could not separate myself from that book, despite many demands from my family and promises to myself. I wish I could stretch it along for a few days. I couldn't!
