The Cure for Lonely

Rate this book
It’s 1989 and Sam Gavin dreams of escape -- escape not only from the controlled monotony of small town life, but from his past and all the people who still insist on calling him by a dead name. After losing his job, Sam and his former friend Gwen head west in search of something new.

Arriving in San Francisco during the height of the HIV crisis, Sam finds a job administering pills in a dubious drug trial and the pieces of his life begin taking shape. However, when Sam falls in love with one of the likely-doomed patients, he has to choose between the hero he wants to be and the human that he is.

THE CURE FOR LONELY is a story about gender and identity, friendship and struggle, choices and what can't be taken back.
