EVE My job is simple; scan the environment and return to the safety of the colony. The planet is dangerous, but I don’t expect to encounter any of the native beasts.
So it’s a bit of a surprise when I meet him. The barbarian alien that’s made of pure muscle. He’s green, he’s got a tail and pointed ears… and did I mention that he’s *ahem* huge? I can’t help the way I respond to him. The way he looks at me has me melting.
But he shouldn’t exist. And I still have a mission to do.
BALROTH Our people are dying. We have no mates, and no hope. Until she came along. But my Eve is determined to return home. And to make matters worse another male seeks her for himself. Until she can help her people, I will be her fierce protector. I will stop at nothing to keep her. Eve is MINE.
With heart-pumping action and steamy romance, "Loved by The Alien Huntsman" is the short story prequel to the science fiction series "Planet Atraxis Warriors" you won't be able to put down.
I absolutely loved this alien romance. Eve is a soil engineer who joins a mostly male expedition to an uninhabited planet in hopes of finding a new place for humans to settle. She doesn't expect to find the fiercely protective and loyal Balroth. She also didn't expect him to be green. I love these two, and I really hope I get to read more about them and others from their expedition.
This was solid, but it moved a little too quickly (as most novellas do, no hate), and the fate of the alien species as a whole was ambiguous at the end (I expect it will be resolved later in the series).
I was looking for a nice quick read and this story delivered! I've always been a sucker for a good barbarian alien romance and this one fit the bill perfect!
This is quite an enjoyable read. It took a little time to get into the feel of the book, but after a while, the storyline began to flow as the characters and events started to come together. Eve is the only female on her team they are exploring a new planet, one which they were told has no sentient beings living there so it was the perfect place to offer Earth a major solution to their over crowding and away from the aliens who had recently landed on earth. Eve had to work extremely hard to gain a place on her team, yet even though she had proven herself to be the top cadet in the team, extra rules were applied to her simply because she was a female. Even though she has showed she is as capable as the next person Eve had to make a guarantee to those in power, once the colony was established she could not take time to enjoy her new planet and take time out for herself, she had to look at setting down immediately, to find a partner and have babies and start helping produce the new children of this world. Balroth couldn’t believe what he saw. A spaceship had arrived, and the one single female on the team was setting up camp next to his own cave away from everyone else. All he wants to do is care for her and protect her, so when a terrible storm sends Eve out to look for him they find that they have a great deal in common and want to do what’s right for each other and their own people. Ms Sinner has written a tender yet realistic story of how quickly the situation can change when people are far from home and away from everything they know. Even though those who are colonising live by the laws of earth, they know from their own planet, often primal attitudes raise their heads and you find that what makes the person tick will come to the surface and laws found at home get left behind, leaving all the cultural attitudes and pleasantries back on earth, so it’s not surprising Ms Sinner cleverly included how certain situations seem to create the openings for the worst type of attitudes and personalities to become present, in many different situations. It's not surprising that we get a real understanding of why Balroth and Eve make the decisions they do, knowing the commander of the team will ensure they are protected as they make some hard and permanent decisions for their future. Somewhat different to other sci-fi stories, but still with plenty of action, attitudes adventure and realistic outcomes, as a female from earth and an alien from Altaxis find themselves looking out for each other with the hopes of it becoming more. If you’re after a quick read yet plenty of mystery, grab this book as you will find the experience believable and realistic.
Way too many inconsistencies, As the only female on an expedition to a new planet, she was expected to marry and produce a child after she completed her job surveying...ech, No. One minute the planet is freezing, and she has no protective clothing? And the next she's sweating. Ugh, No. Only thing she has to eat are nutrition bars but hey someone left a bowl of fruit outside her tent and she eats it. Ahhh, No. It just gets stupider and stupider. Insta-lust, Insta-everything does not make a good story, Nothing has been thought out and the FMC appears to be really dim witted. Deleted early, just couldn't stand it.
So, let me start off by saying that I am a huge fan of Ruby Dixon's IPB/IH/that universe. I understand that if I compare every alien romance to that universe, majority won't hold up to it.
That being said, Loved By The Alien Huntsman was a good book! I absolutely loved the exploration aspect to the story - I'm literally an Astronomy major that focuses on exoplanets so that always piques my interest. The female main character was brought in and narrated in a way that allowed readers to connect with her. That's always important; if you don't stand behind the main character, you're probably not going to finish reading it. The male main character was approachable (for the reader) as well.
Where this book lost some points (for me personally), was how quickly the story went. It seemed as if all of the background of the alien species and the solution was a little bit too rushed for my liking. Don't get me wrong, I love novella lengths - LOVE THEM. But the downside to the opening book to the universe being novella length is that it comes across as rushed.
****SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT AHEAD***** (Don't read on if you don't want a slight spoiler.)
The other thing that lost this book points for me was the fact that the alien tribe were a hunting and gathering/leather-wearing group so please explain how they had knowledge of not only space (spaceships, aliens to them, etc) but translation technology (and know how to implant it!) as well. If there was some sort of explanation within the story of how they knew any of that, it wouldn't have been a hold up for me. Outside of those two things, though, I'm about the story and the universe being created!

Kate Sinner is a new author for me and this is the prequel to her new series Planet Atraxis Warriors. I'm not sure what is wrong back on Earth yet but its implied that things are not well especially for women. Eve is one of a very few females sent on this mission to colonize a new world for the people of earth. Atraxis is said to have no sentient life on it and could be the best possible place to set up a new home base. Well like anything political she and many others were lied too. As she sets up a base vamp to explore the suitably of this world your humans she encounters an alien native to the planet Balroth is humanoid except for the tail and green skin. He sees her shoo defend from the sky and when he first spots Eve he can't take his eyes off her. He follows her and does his best to protects her from dangers and slowly I produces himself to her. It looks like the native species has enough tech to have translators but not their own spaceships. They are aware of others but they live in tribes . This book perfectly sets up the ground work for a more in-depth series it hints at a lot of problems with earth's government Nd the secret s they hold, A possible future villain, and finally the threat of a resistance humans might not be ready for. Or a price that they will have to pay . I'm actually looking forward to reading more of this series to see how everything unfolds. Compelling characters, chemistry and an interesting storyline.
This was a quick read and its packed with, drama, action, betrayal and so hot and steamy moments but overall its a love story that takes you on a ride to get there and so this is Balroth and Eve story. Eve is a human and a Soil Engineer thats taking samples on this planet that will tell them where the best place is to build there new homes and settle but where her camp site is the perfect location but when a storm hits she makes a run for it but she doesn't know she is heading for the cliffs and a huge green alien saves her life. Balroth is a hunter for his clan and lives on his own after his fathers death and feels responsible for it but he still hunts for his clan and when he see’s a human female setting up camp she has picked the wrong place and the wild animals now know she is there and so i must protect her but when a storm hits she runs straight for the cliff and falls and injures herself and I save her and bring her to my cave to heal and when we touch I know she is my fated mate by the markings that have been activated by her touch but how do I get her to stay with me but when her crew mates come for her she realizes that they lied to her and everyone else about aliens that live on there planet and when they take her and try and force her to marry one of the crew for her ex’s money he left her. Balroth and his brothers and the clan go to get his mate back. There is so much more going on in this short story but it is a good read nonetheless and a must read.
I enjoyed the story 'Loved by the Alien Huntsman' by Kate Sinner. It was about a woman space explorer being sent with a crew to explore a planet in order to see if it would be inhabitable for a colony from Earth. She sets off by herself to set up a remote camp where she will collect soil and water samples and scan the area for wildlife. While she is in this remote area, she is unaware that she is being watched and protected by a big, muscular green alien. When it is apparent that she does not like the rations she has to eat the Alien takes a chance and leaves her a wooden bowl full of fruit every morning. Soon she wants to meet this generous alien, so she sits beside the fruit one morning as an invitation to meet. She is shocked when a seven-foot-tall green alien approaches the camp site, but she instinctively knows that he means no harm to her. Later, when he saves her during a storm and inserts a translator behind her ear so that they can communicate with each other, they act on their great attraction to each other. The Alien knows that she is his mate. He also knows that she wants to report back to her friends at the main camp. It is an enjoyable tale and very interesting.
4.5 stars. Eve, the female human lead, is scientist with a human expedition to a new planet, looking to establish a new human colony because Earth is dying. As she explores her allocated section, she meets Balroth, the male lead and a native of the planet when they’ve been assured there is no native sentient life. He knows she’s his fated mate; now he just needs to convince her to choose him…
This novella is dual POV, well written, and an interesting, new planet romance, series prequel. I enjoyed Eve’s determination to be self-determining, even when the situation appeared to be pushing her in a particular direction. I enjoyed Balroth’s patience and his willingness to take her lead, culturally directed though that was. I enjoyed their intimate interactions. I enjoyed the negotiation between them to resolve issues. I’m looking forward to more of the series.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
This was a fun prequel and it set the stage for what looks to be an exciting series. Eve, a lone gal on a planet exploration for colonization, finds herself with a male alien for company. Balroth was fascinated by her, and while sweet with her, brought out the steam pretty quickly ;) The world building was fab as I felt right there with them when dealing with the crazy weather and scary animals. I am quite anxious for the next book to come out so I can see how things continue to unfold. Good fun!
This was a fast paced read. Eve is the only female for the scouting mission on a new planet and home for humans from Earth. The planet shouldn’t have any aliens on it but out comes a giant green alien. Balroth is a huntsman out on assignment to get food to replenish his people store. Winter was harsh and they need supplies. They meet slowly but then they light a match to their attraction. They are mates and both are accepting of it. Until one of her colleagues shows up and they run into issues.
If you enjoy Fated Mates, Alien Romance, then this book is for you. Eve and her colleagues land on the supposedly un-inhabited planet Atraxis. Eve is sent out alone to the further quadrant to do field studies on the suitability of colonialism and encounters an alien Baltrox her Fated Mate. I won’t tell you anymore of the story as I wouldn’t want to give the story away. This is just a prequel to the series but I would have liked a longer read. Looking forward to reading the next book of the series.
This is a great read. The characters are great and I loved Balroth-our hero. Planet Atraxis is not what some humans think. There are sentient beings there, as we find out. And Balroth is one of them. A hunter living on a planet with far too few females, he is pleased to find Eve. The way the two engage with one another and Eve's ability to cope with things despite obstacles...it makes for a deliciously steamy romance. I love aliens with tails! Balroth is sexy and dominant in the sack which Eve enjoys ;)
Eve is the only woman on a team of humans investigating a planet to see if it is the right place for a human colony.
Balroth watches the strange being from the stars. How she travels, sets up camp... studies his world. He's always dreamed of a future with a mate... is there any chance this woman could be that mate?
This done in one quick read does a lot of interesting world building, and establishes not only several characters but potentially the political elements that could come in to play if this is indeed a potential colony.
Eve was a competent scientist on a colonizing mission to a planet that was supposed to be void of sentient life. Of course, like a lot of governments, the people on the mission were lied to knowing there aliens there. The story had some world building, a bit of conflict and a love story. There was a teary HEA or perhaps it is only a HFN ending. I do wish I knew what punishment the creep in the story received but we were told he would be punished. An epilogue would have been nice to see how Eve and Balforth's lives were in the future.
Tara is is supposedly uninhabited by any sentient life, so explorer Eve is stunned by the gift of fruit in a carved bowl left at her campsite. Her meeting with Balroth, the giver, sets a whirlwind courtship in motion that solves so many of her life's problems. It does present one big issue, though. Fortunately, love has an answer for that one too. I really enjoyed this series-starter.
Evelyn Languis signed a contract to be on to be part of a team looking into colonizing Atraxis. Part of the contract is she is to marry and start a family if colonization is possible. She is sent to Section 1 by herself to see if it is suitable for colonizing. For a few days she is surreptitiously watched by an alien male. Fruit is left for her and at first she thinks it's a prank. Then the alien makes himself known. It is a fun, enticing read.
Eve is on an expedition to a new world for colonization. She sets out on her own and is confronted with Balroth. He saves her from a terrible storm and a human male that threatened her. He tells her he's her fated mate and will protect her always. I love reading fated mate stories with steamy bit and an edge of danger with drama. I enjoyed reading this book.
I loved this book! A strong female lead and a loving male lead. It sets the stage for the series. Eve is a scientist tasked with determining if planet Atraxis is habitable for humans. Balroth notices her the moment she steps off the ship. Their story slowly develops, then heats up! I can't wait to read more. I think this is going to be a great series.
First contact made all alone with a science fiction vibe. It was an interesting storyline with limited world building. There is tension and a fated mates connection that builds. I’d love to get more of this story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved this book. It was a fun, sweet read. Good world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Balroth and Eve. I'm always a sucker for the language barrier trope, so it was nice to encounter it here. This was a quick read, and it wasn't a long book. This was the first book I've read by this author and I'll definitely be looking for more. 5 stars.
It was very good read, but even knowing it was a short story, I was disappointed. I didn't care for the last chapter. It goes against a lot of things that most writers of Aliens evade in their stories. Those writers never let an antagonist go unpunished, nor do they let the human women lose everything without the decision being hers.
