Stalked by the Wide Receiver is the third book in the Obsessed Alphas series by Mayra Statham. I love these quick little steamy stories about men who fall helplessly in love and will go to any extreme to win their women. Of the three, this might be the lesser of the obsessions. Our hero is definitely out of his mind for Betty but his actions aren’t quite as demented as his two best friends were.
Hemingway “Hemi” Castro is twenty two years old and is in his final year of college. He’s a wide receiver for a division one college. Hemi is good at playing football but it’s not his dream to go pro. Yes, he’d like to go ahead and play professionally for a couple of years but only to help his family and to make enough money to go to a police academy eventually and become a police officer. That is his dream. But then “she” walked into the gym where he was working out and the entire focus of his life changed in an instant.
Betty Montoya is also twenty two. She lost her parents years ago and is estranged from her brother so she’s alone and things have gone from bad to worse. She finds herself with nowhere to stay when a gorgeous football player comes to her rescue.
Both of these people have been completely focused on their goals until they met and everything changed. What Betty doesn’t realize is that a month ago is when Hemi first saw her and that he has made it his own priority to keep her safe while always watching her from a distance.

Hemi definitely crossed some boundaries in his obsession with Betty but he’s a man in love, a man on a mission to keep his woman safe and protected, no matter the cost. But will Betty understand if she ever finds out? Or will she run as fast as she can in the opposite direction? It doesn’t matter because if she runs, he will just chase her. Because she is his and he will always find her.
The next book in the series will be called Stalked by the Coach and will be Betty’s friend, Alicia’s book!

4.5 obsessed-and-dual-v-goodness stars
This was my favorite of the series! I just ate this up like the candy I’ve been craving after a long, drawn out diet 😮💨… and I couldn’t get enough 🫠.
Hemi’s (22) a football player, wide receiver, and is doing his own thing at the gym when he spots a hottie, Betty (22), one he can’t look away from, and he wants her 👀. The thing is… Hemi’s NEVER been with anyone before (he’s seen how his friends’ decisions with women have affected their lives too much- which is why he’s always turned down girls 🤷🏻♀️), so he doesn’t know how to approach her, which is why he’s gonna do the next best thing…
He’s gonna stalk her of course 🤣🤣🤣👀👀👀.
Finally, one day, he “accidentally” (🤣🤣👀😈) crosses her path when she goes to check out the free little library she started and sees it’s been taken down ☹️. He offers to help her, of course, because he’s a gentleman…
And now, all he has to do is convince her to give him a chance 😅; she doesn’t HAVE to know that he’s been watching her for a while, now does she? 👀

—he’s changed his schedule to match her 🫶. Just in case cause you just never know 😅

—the 🔥. Well. Duh 🤣. This novella isn’t too long, but we do have to wait a little bit before it gets 🔥 (first kiss at about 40%, some early bases around 50% and home run at about 70%)

Stalked by the Wide Receiver was primal and smutty. Hemi sees his one and goes full blown alpha stalker (in a sweet way, I swear). Betty finds herself homeless and Hemi steps in to save the day.
Betty is mega attracted to Hemi and the two of them find connection and love with each other. This was a double virgin, slow burn romance with a decent plot. Looking forward to Coach's book!

Hemi is obsessed with Betty from the moment he sees her. He’s the wide receiver for a D1 college team, it’s his senior year and he’s just concentrating on finishing the school year and getting into the police academy after graduation. He watched his two teammates go crazy stalker over their girls, as a criminal law major he knows what not to do but all that goes out the window for Betty. She has awakened a monster in him and nothing will satisfy the monster but his Betty.
Betty is a senior who is struggling since a falling out with her brother has left her without money. She’s renting a couch from a girl who is making Betty’s life miserable. To escape the drama she goes for late night runs. Hemi sees her on one of those runs and now staying in the shadows, follows her every night. He’s trying to work up the courage to talk to her when he notices her sad one day he approaches her and introduces himself. They chat and he leaves her soon after not wanting to scare her off. His big break comes when she is being kicked out of her couch by the crazy girl, Hemi offers her his room for her to stay in. She’s not sure but does know that he makes her feel safe, and she hasn’t felt that in a very long time. Hemi and his monster are thrilled that Betty is coming home with him. He’s almost a perfect gentleman with her. He doesn’t touch her but can’t help masturbating while watching her sleep in his bed. She finally lets him know one night that she knows what he’s doing and she likes it. Sexy times are on after that. She loves his kinks and he loves her! Best part, dual virgins, lots of hot sexy times.
A little drama with her brother, he is a recruiter for an NFL team and can wreck Hemi’s chances at playing pro. He tries but Hemi tells him off, it was an awesome smack down all while defending his love for Betty and letting her brother know how he let Betty down and made her feel like a burden. The brother is mad but does think on everything Hemi says and apologizes to Betty. Cute epilogues with graduation, Hemi playing pro for a few years, and them settling down as a married couple. Still indulging in their kinks. You also get a glimpse of the other couples and the next couple, the coach and a cheerleader.
Hemi was so sweet, he was definitely less stalkery than his roommates but no less swoon worthy. Betty’s little libraries were so cute and I loved how Hemi made her passion project his passion project. He was the perfect gentle giant.

Funny, easy read. He’s totally obsessed with h since first time seeing her, and starts stalking her. Tracks her and hides in the shadows, but nothing to crazy.
Dual V, their both totally inexperience.
Liked how he wanted to take things slow because he had stalked her and made her move in with him, but he didn’t wanted to rush that part because he wanted to be sure she truly trusted him - and he wanted to be sure he would take as good care of her as he possibly could.

He’s a college football player and women have tried to flirt, but he couldn’t be less interested than he is. Turned them all down, and never gave them a second thought. Never anything like that in the book, just mentioned from people around him how he’s not interested in girls.

This book needs some heavy edits. There were tons of spelling and grammatical errors. Yikes. BUT. These books are so damn enjoyable. Hemi was so dang sweet. This one was actually a slower burn than the first two. And both MCs were virgins ayooo. There was also some breeding and primal kink in here which I appreciated.
Coach's book comes out at the end of March and I cannot WAIT.

Am I happy that I continue reading this series even after the atrocity of the first two books? Yes, abso-fvcking-lutely!!! Though I disliked the first two books. I made a vow to myself to read the remaining two of the series and to actually complete the series.
I loved Hemi so much. The only red flag in him was the part where he followed her during her nightly run. But if readers will look at it differently, he did follow her to keep her safe since running in the the dark wasn't safe for her. He was so sweet, thoughtful, loving, and protective of Betty. Also the way how he cared for her and being always there for her needs. It was also nice reading how he volunteered to so many organization during his free time. But what I really loved the most about him, was that he didn't end up to be a freaking playboy even though jocks were always surrounded by women. His drive and focus when it comes to football was hands down the best.
As for Betty, I liked her too. Her volunteer work to build little libraries to different places was so admirable to read. Betty and Hemi were perfect when it comes to volunteering stuff. She wasn't a toxic character too and I really loved her relationship with Hemi. She's a good person with a huge heart.
I love how both MCs were very open to each other. There's no guessing game between them as they were always attuned with one other. There was no toxicity between them and after reading their story I can honestly say it's like they were just perfectly made for each other.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. So far with the series, Hemi and Betty were the most likeable pair and MCs. I'll definitely recommend this book for those who like their heroes obsessed and possessive with their heroine. This was actually a really really good book, worth 4 stars for me.
P.S. I'm looking forward to reading the last book and I sure am hoping to actually like the story and its MCs too.

Argumento:

Mi humilde opinión:
Tercer libro de la serie Obsessed Alphas, un romance universitario con el tema deportivo, futbol americano, con un héroe virgen, obsesivo, posesivo OTT, atracción instantánea, cercanía forzada, una cama.
Ame a Hemi! Era distinto a sus dos amigos, James cruzó los limites entrando al departamento de Mila para verla dormir y Marshall colocando cámaras al de Sara para ver que estuviera a salvo pero Hemi fue mas tranquilo y maduro en comparación. Él tenia solo a su mamá y hermanas y venía de un barrio feo, él quería jugar pro para darles una mejor vida. No era como los demás atletas que solo buscaban chicas y fiestas. Él solo se concentraba en jugar y estudiar. La verdad fue un chico muy dulce, considerado y romántico cuando conoce a Betty. Sí, su bestia interior despertó cuando la conoció, igual que le paso a sus amigos, pero él siguió a Betty para asegurarse que estuviera a salvo cuando ella salía a correr sola de noche.
Hemi y Betty eran pura pasión e intensidad. Me gusta que la autora les de su momento para conocerse porque si bien es amor instantáneo y una historia de corta duración, se siente que hay un desarrollo en la relación. This is definitely the best in the series so far—I really enjoyed it! The characters felt more developed. I especially liked Betty’s struggle with feeling like a burden; it added depth to who she is and what she’s been through, even in such a short novella. The romance also had a bit more of a slow burn before getting to the spice, and the spice was actually decent in this one (by instalust novella standards, that is). And Hemi was just cute as hell—the way he cared for her, watching DIY videos so he could help her with the little library? Adorable.
I do wish the chase kink thing Hemi had going on had been explored more though. I genuinely think the author missed an opportunity by not having Betty freak out and try to run when she found everything out—and then have Hemi, you know… chase her down. But that probably would’ve pushed this into dark romance territory, and I don’t think that’s the vibe the author was going for. Plus, it might have felt out of character for Betty to run from Hemi when she literally loves this man with everything she is.
Also, why does it never get followed up on that he put a tracker in her bag? Like… it’s mentioned once and then never brought up again?? I kept waiting for Hemi to admit it when they had their heart-to-heart after Sara spilled the beans, but it never came up?

Betty & Hemi were adorable together. For some reason I've read stories where the author tries to make both main characters virgins it always comes off corny, but that totally didn't happen here, and I'm very happily surprised. I loved how Hemi was always willing to take his time and always was concerned about about doing things the right way, and that Betty never seemed to waver in what she wanted, and seemed to own her sexual self confidence even as a virgin if that makes any sense. I love that everything they did or faced they seemed too face together as = partners in the relationship even when Betty was scared deep down her faith and Hemi never wavered, and how no matter what Hemi saw FOREVER when he looked at Betty. If these 2 were real people they would be my #relationship goals.💛💛💛

While working out at the gym one afternoon, Hemi sees Betty are falls into instalove. He immediately finds out her school schedule and begins attending a few of her classes so he can see her more. Until finally one night, she's kicked out of her apartment and he swoops in to save the day.
I thought this one was OK, but maybe reading all the books back-to-back is getting fatiguing. Hemi and Betty were sweet, but they felt a bit boring to me. There were also way too many epilogues.

Now This Stalker...
I don't know how Mayra does it. She has this uncanny ability to write a stalker romance that doesn't give you cringy vibes. Hemi comes so close but he has enough "sense" to not be that asshole Alpha. He is constantly in this conversation with himself trying not to be like his friends.
But the way Hemi was into Betty and how we experienced all the first with the two of them. I appreciated every moment with them. It was hot, angsty and satisfying. I loved their HEA.
Can't wait for the Coach's story! Great series.

I loved Hemi and Betty! Hemi is the star wide receiver on his college football team. He is definitely not looking for love, especially after seeing what love did to his two best friends. They became over the top obsessed about their women. Hemi was fine with just focusing on school and football, until he saw Betty. He knew she was the one for him. After Hemi "coincidentally" comes to her rescue, Betty sees Hemi as her knight in shining armor. This couple is perfect for each other, and I liked that Hemi wasn't as crazy obsessed as his friends. I definitely enjoyed this book.

Another amazing read in the Obsessed Alpha series. Mayra is one of my all-time favorite authors. Her characters and stories are always original and keep us wanting more. Hemi will make you fall in love with his obsessive ways and how he will do anything to protect Betty, even give up the NFL and stand up to her brother. I adore their perfect ending and can not wait for more stories from this incredible author.

Book was good. Liked Hemi and Betty a lot. Loved they were each other’s first and only.
Only thing that bugged me was that there were a lot of mistakes throughout. Misspellings, missing words, typos, missing punctuation, etc. I don’t usually pick up on errors so if I noticed then it was a lot. I’m guessing the author doesn’t have an editor (if she does, they should be fired) but another set of eyes needed to see this before it was published.

Oooohh this was HOT!
The first few chapters made me believe that the MMC was the most “tame/calm” out of the three roommates, but man I was wrong! He’s got a really dirty mouth and fantasies LOL! Reading this just made me believe that it’s always the quiet ones or those who try to be a gentleman outside that really are the dirtiest on the inside when it comes to sex LMAO. It’s a plus that both MCs are virgins, which made me giddy while reading their sex scenes lol.

The whole series is action filled, big pun intended. The dual virgins was super interesting, in romance books it rare for the alpha to be a virgin. Their connection is so cute and I loved how Hemi really wanted to take his time with all their "Firsts".

Sexy read, loved the extended epilogues
I enjoyed this series of obsessive jocks being hit by the love bug big time. This latest couple was extra special because they were both inexperienced but passionate about one another. They took their time and when they did make it across the finish line there were 🎆! Nice to get update of the other couples. Still waiting for babies.

Out the 1-3 book, this one is actually the least concerning stalker.
When I first read the first n second book, the stalking is becoming more n more worse so I don’t know what the third book is gonna be but turns out it’s the least stalking on the series. Also I liked how the previous gfs help explained the situation to the new girl, their bond form through their trauma

What a love the most in this series is the fact that not only the tough men fall for their women at first sight but they don't mess around and are honest with their feeling and how much tgey love them. This one was not different, and another winner. Highly recommended
