La descrizione del primo libro della serie mi ha incuriosita e ho deciso di buttarmi sull'edizione completa a scatole chiusa...mai decisione avventata fu piu' sbagliata. Ho trovato questo libro piuttosto noioso e decisamente lento, cosa che per un romanzo romance e spicy dovrebbe proprio essere impossibile. Ma andiamo con ordine con un recap delle trame.
Libro 1 - Elli e' una ventenne "normale": viene da una famiglia di classe media ma la madre si e' risposata quando Ellie aveva 11 anni con un abbiente vedovo e da quel momento il loro stile di vita e' cambiato consistentemente. Tuttavia ad Ellie non e' mai piaciuto prendere i soldi del patrigno e ha sempre cercato di farcela da sola, che eroina. Il suo sogno nel cassetto e' essere una scrittrice e possibilmente stare insieme a Tom, suo amico dai tempi di Yale e collega aspirante scrittore (di politica). Entrambi lavorano in un giornale online con mansioni al di sotto delle loro aspirazioni ma con la speranza di salire nella scala gerarchica. Tuttavia Tom, altrettanto (se non di piu') abbiente e altrettanto (se non di piu') sprezzante verso i soldi di papa' sta frequentando la figlia di una delle famiglie piu' in vista della Maine e la sta per sposare. Insomma, ad Ellie le cose non vanno alla grande. Cosi quando la sua coinquilina e migliore amica Caroline riceve un invito per un party misterioso ed esclusivo Ellie decide di uscire dalla sua comfort-zone e partecipare. E quando si scopre che il party prevede un'asta nella quale le ragazze sono il "premio", Ellie decide di rimanere e viene "venduta" (con il suo consenso, ovviamente) per una cifra astronomica, dando il via ad una delle notti piu' eccitanti della sua vita. Certo, perche' mica se l'e' aggiudicata il vecchio bavoso in fondo alla sala: il suo offerente e' nientepopodimeno che Mr. Black, il (giovane, e miliardario, e bellissimo) proprietario dello yatch su cui si svolge il party. Ora, non voglio spoilerare l'entusiasmante storia, ma quella che doveva essere un'avventura di una notte porta Ellie un passo piu' vicina alla felicita', soprattutto quando Mr. Black le chiede di rivederlo. E grazie ai soldi dell'asta Ellie puo' finalmente lasciare il lavoro e concentrarsi sulla scrittura! Insomma, tutto alla grande, se non fosse che Tom sembra prenderla malino e le dice cose piuttosto sgraziate, su cui Ellie ovviamente si fa delle paranoie (ma tutto sommato nemmeno troppe).
Libro 2 - Ellie e Caroline ricevono un secondo invito per un altro esclusivo party sullo yacht di Mr Black, al quale Ellie partecipa di malavoglia perche' vorrebbe di piu' dalla loro relazione. Le cose si mettono peggio qaundo Mr. Black le chiede di partecipare nuovamente all'asta ma per una sfortunata serie di coincidenze non se la aggiudica, cosi' che lei si ritrova in una sgradevole posizione e Mr. Black mette a repentaglio la propria azienda per salvare la sua innamorata. Allo stesso tempo, tuttavia, Ellie sente aprirsi davvero la sua vena creativa ed inizia a scrivere, scrivere e scrivere, raccontando per lo piu' della propria esperienza, pur mascherandola come "fiction" e pubblicandola sotto pseudonimo.
Libro 3 - I dissapori tra Ellie e Tom non sembrano essere stati dimenticati, tuttavia Ellie gli vuole ancora bene e quando lui invita lei, Mr. Black, Caroline e l'attuale fidanzato di Caroline nella tenuta dei genitori della sua fidanzata, Ellie accetta senza riserve. Potrebbe anche essere una buona mossa per Mr. Black, la cui azienda ha davvero bisogno di sostegno, dopo che l'ex socio se n'e' andato portandosi via tanti investitori per una stupida ripicca. Tuttavia, ancora una volta le cose non avvno come previsto: Tom, ubriaco, non accetta che Ellie non sia piu' innamorata di lui e Caroline stessa, la bella e vitale Caroline, se la vede brutta. Ellie ovviamente si schiera in sua difesa ma le cose non sembrano proprio migliorare
Libro 4 - Ellie e Mr. Black continuano ad essere in perfetta sintonia, tanto che sembra che facciano passi avanti nella loro relazione. Purtroppo pero' il lavoro di entrambi si mette in mezzo e l'esplosione e' assicurata. Ma quando c'e' l'amore, tutto il resto non puo' che girarci intorno. Allo stesso tempo le vicende dei personaggi secondari (Carolne, Tom, la famiglia di Ellie) progrediscono e sembrano complicarsi.
Libro 5 - Tutto precipita ma s sa che l'ora piu' buia della notte e' proprio quella che precede l'alba. E cosi' in questo ultimo libro si concentrano tutte le disgrazie maggiori, tuttigli inghippi e le frustrazioni che si sono via via accumulati durante la serie, fino alla prevedibile ed agognata alba.
Ok, ora che ho finito di riassumere i punti principali della serie, che onestamente aveva tanto potenziale,al di la' della parte spicy, per l'originalita' della trama e la complessita' degli intrecci, vi dico cosa ne penso. NOIOSA. Il primo libro anche anche, molto spicy, i protagonisti si buttano nel sesso come se non ci fosse un domani. tutto il resto e' contorno e costruzione delle premesse per il resto della storia. Dal secondo libro in avanti la meta' delle pagine consistono in ellie che spiega e rispiega in cosa consiste il suo processo di scrittura, facendosi avvocato dei romance e dell'autopubblicazione, piu' e piu' e piu' volte...della serie, abbiamo capito! Le scene di sesso non mancano ma finiscono per annoiare ure quelle: ogni volta lei la percepisce come l'esperienza piu' bella della vita, mai avuto un orgasmo cosi' (ma lo aveva detto pure due pagine prima!) e lui da una parte si atteggia all'ombroso mr. Grey (delle 50 sfumature), facendo presagire chissa' quali tormentati e dolorosi anfratti dell'anima, dall'altra parte sembra un 15enne alla prima cotta (ha avuto modelle e attrici ma Ellie e' la donna piu' bella del creato). I personaggi hanno poco spessore e le tragedie che capitano sembrano un po' spruzzate a caso (e come col sale, ce ne finiscono fin troppe) per dare drammaticita' a una stria di sesso. il tutto appare piuttosto forzato e ripetitivo,
Forse se avessi letto un libro al mese non mi sarebbe dispiaciuto ma solitamente quando inizio le serie mi piace leggerle di fila per non dimenticare dettagli; in questo caso avrei potuto leggere un libro all'anno e tra riassunti non richiesti della protagonista, alternanza di punti di vista in cui Ellie e Mr. Black ripetono le stesse cose e spiegoni non richiesti sulla dignita' del romance, non mi sarei persa nulla.
Nel complesso, carina l'idea, migliorabile l'esecuzione.

F.Y.I. I read this series six years ago when the series was published as "Auctioned to Him". When the author repackaged this set as "Black Edge" series I knew i had to write a review.
This is a 10 star series. It is suspenseful, dangerous, shocking, tragic as well as realistic and romantic. Mr. Aiden Black and Ellie are the main characters. I feel it is also important to tell you the supporting characters are absolutely essential and powerful in the telling of this series. Even though it has been since 2017 when I first read the series I could not forget it. It made an indelible mark on me.
From the very beginning I was hooked on this series. I could hardly wait till the next book came out. This book definitely had me on edge. I could not put the book down. Could this story get any more suspenseful? YES it can. OMG this had me gripping my laptop as I read through it. I could not wait to find what was happening. Everything throughout the series is concluded. However you may think that it is all roses but let me tell you it is not. Ellie and Aiden go through the most trying of circumstances on more than one occasion. This series did not disappoint. It is an exciting, suspenseful, frightening, potentially dangerous book. You must read this.

This is a 10 star series. It is suspenseful, dangerous, shocking, tragic as well as realistic and romantic. Mr. Aiden Black and Ellie are the main characters. Ellie Rhodes’s roommate Caroline get an invitation to an exclusive part on a yacht. She is allowed to bring a female guest so she wants Ellie to go with her. They find out the main event is an auction. The women who get auctioned off have to spend the night with the winning bidder and he can do anything he wants to them even sexually. The woman auctioned off gets paid the winning bid. Caroline decides not to do the auction. Ellie decides to stay and be in the auction hoping to pay off her student loans with the money. Mr. Black offers $250,000 and is the winning bid for Ellie.
This is just the beginning of Aidan Black and Ellie Rhodes story.
Ellie takes Caroline to another party on Mr. Black’s yacht. This time Caroline participates in the auction. Aiden wants Ellie to be in the auction for fun. However, will a mishap ruin both their lives?
Aiden, Ellie and Caroline are all very exciting characters. There was never a dull moment as we read about them. Just when you thought you knew where the story was heading, something else unexpected happens. I loved reading the whole box set.

A Lot of Disconnect
The number of pages in this boxed set is about 300 pages less than the total number of pages of each individual book and I felt the incompleteness. Too many things were just dropped, the scenes felt abrupt to me.
I liked the story, I didn't like Aidan or Ellie as I normally do my main characters. Ellie was childlike in too many ways and Aidan didn't give his business the attention he should have, that's why he could be snatched out from under him the way it was.
I know Mom's get on your nerves a lot, I had one, but to say F#@k you to your mom, she really turned me off. So much so, that I am still talking about it at the end of this book.
I like this author and I've read maybe one other book by her, I think in the beginning I got her mixed up with another Charlotte, who I love. I have another series by Charlotte Byrd ready to read, I will compare the original page count with the series page before I start to read it though. If there's a great gap I won't move forward. I read the individual books instead.

This is The Complete Box Set of The Dark Intentions Series and it contains books 1-5 and it is Aiden and Ellie’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. I read this series when each book was released individually but it was really great to read them again in one complete story. There are many twists and turns along the way that will have you totally immersed and hooked and you will not want to put it down. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout the whole series. I definitely recommend you read this box set and you will not be disappointed. Charlotte Byrd is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader’s attention and on the edge of there seats when reading her book and I can’t wait to read more of her books in the future.

I am COMPLETELY excited about this Box Set. I’ve had the honor and privilege of the opportunity previously reading this Set.

If nothing else this is a staycation and/or a hideaway in your secret place kind of read. Just don’t forget to bring some refreshments of every kind… you know a set of towels, drinks, food and some AA’s(lol).

Fast, fun read!
I really liked this box set. Easy to read, fun characters, fast-paced storyline! Then, I got to the 5th book, and storyline detail drove me crazy! Blake Harrison was murdered in New York. Ellie was arrested in Massachusetts after Aiden was in the hospital. Ellie was kept in Massachusetts and told not to leave the state. When a crime is committed, jurisdiction of crime goes to the state where the crime is committed! Ellie should have been transferred back to New York. This ruined this last book for me. Details in a book are so important and writers need to research properly before committing these to print.

I received a Review Copy. This box set was soooo good and is one of the best billionaire romances that I've read, and I've read a lot of them. I read all 5 books in 3 days, ignoring my family, and barely eating and sleeping. I have become obsessed with Charlotte Byrd's books and I have already pre-ordered "The Dark Intentions" box set. I can't wait for it to come out!

This was a good story and I enjoyed the book, it had a number of twists, especially Tom and Caroline, which was a shock.
I did feel that the story was fluffed out with a number of sex scenes.
But I was left wondering what happened about her friend Tom and the trial at the end.

Wow this was a dark and twisted ride, it is consuming and addictive. Aiden and Ellie's have so much to overcome and is super steamy with action, twists and loads of banter. Just seeing them reach the end to their HEA was so worth it. I loved it.

Black Edge Box Set by C. Byrd contains all five boks in this series, including Black Edge, Black Rules, Black Bounds, Black Contract and Black Limit. A fabulous read, unputdownable, raw and gritty. I loved just everything about the stories, 5 stars.
