She’s sworn off dating musicians. She wasn’t expecting him to rock her world.
Mindy Fox is sick of drama. After being dumped by her rockstar boyfriend and losing her record label job in one scandalous swoop, the betrayed A&R talent seeker decides to strike out on her own. And when she hears an audio clip from a struggling songwriter, the former music mogul believes she’s found her first artist in the handsome crooner.
Luke Fletcher hides his paralyzing anxiety behind a charming exterior. But guilt is a constant companion when he conceals his crippling stage fright from the gorgeous entrepreneur who’s giving him a shot at making it big. And if that wasn’t distraction enough, the easy-going guitar player quickly realizes he’s got chart-topping chemistry with the dark-eyed beauty.
Pulled out of her workaholic world by the onslaught of intense family strife, Mindy struggles to stop a feud with her sister from poisoning the fledgling project. And while Luke comes clean about his hang-ups, he fears his attraction to the off-limits woman has become a forbidden refrain.
Can they recompose their future into a delightful duet?
This is book three in the Fox Family Series and can be read as a stand alone novel. The Fox Family Series follows all of the Fox siblings as they navigate the aftermath of loss, and find love and happily ever after.
Mary Frame writes romantic comedies with quirky characters, steamy moments, and banter that will make you blush and snort-laugh at the same time. She’s a full time mom with a full time job and has no idea how she manages to write novels, but it probably helps that she's a dedicated introvert. She doesn't enjoy writing about herself in third person, but she does enjoy reading, writing, dancing, and damaging the ear drums of her co-workers when she randomly decides to sing to them.
She LOVES hearing from readers and will not only respond but likely begin stalking them while tossing out hearts and flowers and rainbows! If that doesn't creep you out, e-mail her at: maryframeauthor@gmail.com
I was introduced to this series through Hidden Gems ARC program and have been fortunate to read most of the series that way. From the earlier books, I was anxious to read Mindy’s story, and it did not disappoint! Plus, I am thrilled in the direction her story took, and really grew to like her even more through this book. Although it might be easier to read it as part of the series, this book could be read standalone. You might just have a better picture of the Fox family if you start the series from the beginning. Also, this book takes on the strife between Mindy and one of her sisters, so seeing their prior interactions might help to understand it better. This book concentrates on Mindy, who has just lost her boyfriend and career, because they are connected. Now she has to figure out her next step, because of the scandalous relationship, she has effectively been blackballed from the music industry. That is when she meets Luke Fletcher, a struggling songwriter who inspires Mindy to find a way back to the business she loves. They meet when they are each other’s last hope at this dream. As they work together, they build a relationship that neither think is a good idea but through their love of music they build a strong foundation for the future.
I have read the previous two books and while it wasn't my favorite, I still truly enjoyed Mindy and Luke's story. I really liked Luke's character and I couldn't help but picture Garrett Hedlund lol. He was a gentleman and I loved how he always made sure Mindy was ok.
I'll be honest Mindy was my least favorite sister so far. Her dilemma with Taylor just bothered me especially how it was "solved" so quickly. They were still bickering at the end and I hope to see this issue talked about more and actually resolved in the next book.
I enjoyed the slow burn and how we got to see their relationship build. I loved how we got to see all the characters from the previous two books come together (wish their scenes would have been longer lol). It's still one of my favorite series and I look forward to reading Taylor's story and the mystery man.
I received this book as an ARC amd encouraged to leave an honest review.
I love Mary Frame’s Fox series. I enjoyed the ARC I read of this book. Luke is a delight as the male romantic lead. Mindy, however, has been my least favorite FMC so far in this series. And it wasn’t because she had an affair with a married man. It was due to how she treated one of her sisters, Taylor. And the way Mindy figured out some of her issues/problems seemed kinda rushed. Nonetheless I enjoyed the build up between the main characters and them finding their HEA. And I’ve already preordered the next book in the series.
This is the third installment in the Fox’ series that revolves around six siblings, who went through a lot growing up and one by one fall in love with an amazing and supportive partner. I don’t know how Mary Frame does it, but each installment feels fresh and the characters really have their own personality, voice and charm. All of the siblings deal with the loss of their sister and father (after their mother left them a couple of years prior) but they all handle their grief in another way, and you can tell that the author really put thought into that and she succeeds in creating characters with true depth.
Mindy made only one mistake during her impressive career as an A&R manager for a big record label, but that one mistake blew up in her face and almost ruined her life. Being blacklisted and desperately needing to pick up the pieces, she starts her own record label and signs her very first artist, Luke. To make this work, they must resist their obvious attraction. They’re professionals after all!
I’m glad Mindy and Luke never gave up, they were obviously meant for each other, but to say the circumstances weren’t optimal is an understatement 😊
I really enjoyed Luke and Mindy’s love story. Both have tragic losses in their lives that have affected their relationships with family and love interests. Mindy is coping with the break up of a musician client and losing her job because of it and swears off dating any musicians again. She needs Luke to kick start her new company and their shared experience of loss brings them closer together and ultimately they cannot deny their feelings for each other. The story is easy to read and hard to put down. Looking forward to reading more in this series. I was provided an ARC in exchange for leaving an honest review.
Book 3 but can be read as a stand-alone. It’s a slow burn romance and I loved the MMC! The whole family showed up for this one and there was some healing. I like the Fox family and Mindy finally grew on me. This was an enjoyable time. Thanks Booksirens. 3.5⭐️
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
We get to meet the 3rd Fox sister, Mindy, the music industry big executive that lived in NY.
After a short-lived but intense affair that imploded her career and personal life, Mindy is doing her best to starts again on her own, and the last thing she needs is to fall for another musician, especially her first client on her newly started label. Luke has the talent and the looks to hit big in the music business, once he gets over his anxiety about perfoming in public.
When they go to her family property upstate, to work on his first album, they need to deal with all the pain from their past, to make beautiful music and end up getting to know each other in an intense and vulnerable way.
I've been loving this series since book 1, but was not prepared for how this 3rd installment would hit me hard on the feelings. It's a slow burn love story, but so very believabe, since they really got to know each other before surrendering to the inevitable. All the drama and conflict, the family issues and the celebrity drama felt real and well constructed. And I really wanted to hear those beautiful songs the author created.
It´s a 5 Rock Stars read that I finished in one sitting. Very Recommended!!
***I received an Advanced Reader Copy and this is my totally honest review***
Really loving this whole series. Another solid book, with sweet characters. I also like how more of the family saga is unfolding. Definitely reading more of these.
I loved getting to know Mindy better! And Luke was such a sweetheart, I could have read a lot more about these two. I love the Fox siblings and I can't wait to read more about them, and we finally got to the bottom of the Taylor-Mindy mystery, now I really want to see Taylor's side of it!
It’s Mindy’s turn in the Fox family to maybe find the right guy. Mindy’s lost her high profile job at Rebel Records, and she’s being blackballed by the entire industry. What’s she going to do? When she thinks she’s out of options, her path accidentally crosses with Luke. He’s a former emergency room doctor, now turned musician. Except he has some problems he needs to overcome. Can Mindy step up and offer Luke what he needs to be a success in music? Can Luke deal with his past and his problems to offer Mindy the success she’s hoping for?
This is a delightful book that touches on serious issues. It’s about dealing with being used and how to overcome the repercussions. It’s about the reverberating impact of one’s actions. It deals with guilt, grief, and anger, as well as family, friendship, celebrity vs. normal people. Oh, and there’s plenty of heat, too.
I loved Luke, and I loved his family. Without saying, I love all of the Fox family, and their ever growing partners. Finley has come a long way from book one, and I look forward to following her and her sisters and brother in future books.
This book is realistic. It doesn’t pull punches, but it works through difficulties to bring on a happy ending. It’s set up for the next book to deal with another Fox sibling, and I can’t wait.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the author. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
This was my least favorite of the Fox Family books, likely due to the fox sister in the lead being fairly unlikable in the previous books - her affair with a married client and her terrible treatment of her sister are problems for me. The leading man was good and I liked seeing more of the other siblings and their significant others, so I still have high hopes for the remaining siblings' books.
Another wonderful book by Mary Frame! I love this series SO much! Another Fox Bites the Dust is book 3 in the Fox Family Series but can be read as a stand-alone.
This gem tells Mindy & Luke’s story. Mindy is the second oldest in the Fox family who works in the music industry. Her name was blacklisted when she got involved with a married man (who happened to be her client). I love how Mindy perseveres to try to right all of the wrongs. Going home to her roots, meeting Luke and getting a fresh start is exactly what she needed! Luke briefly appears in book 2 and literally runs into Mindy (or vice versa) in Central Park. He is a struggling musician with stage fright and is about to pack it up & go back home when Mindy approaches him with an opportunity that he couldn’t refuse. Both of these MCs have struggled with loss, both are struggling with their careers, struggling to find their happily ever after. The chemistry between these two characters is off the chart! I love them together - Luke brings the perfect amount of sweetness when Mindy needs it the most.
This book has some heavier topics in it - alcoholism, drug abuse, suicide/loss of loved ones, marital affairs, but Mary works her magic with words to tell a heartwarming story. I love the family dynamic that the Fox siblings have. It is lovely to see the previous book characters carrying over into this book (not to mention their continued character development). I absolutely love the seemingly tradition of Jake finding his sisters in compromising positions!
This was a fast, fun read! I look forward to reading book 4 (Taylor’s story) next!!!
I enjoyed this story. Mindy, having lost her job and clout in the music industry due to a scandalous and failed romantic relationship with a musician client, decides to take a chance on establishing her own record label with a new musician, Luke. What she doesn’t know is that Luke has crippling stage fright. Kind of a problem when your contract stipulates live performances and recording requires playing in front of people too. They also have to contend with their growing attraction and affection towards each other, which is a big problem considering Mindy’s history. Luke was a great MMC and just such a good guy. His care for people around him was lovely. He faced his own struggles with his stage fright and grief, but he was always so supportive. I struggled a bit to connect with Mindy initially, I think mainly over her relationship with a married man. It helped a little as it became more clear that he had not been honest with her about the status of his marriage. And her determination and tenacity as she worked to rebuilt her position in the industry and establish Luke’s career was admirable. Not to mention her support and patience when she finally learned of his stage fright.
Mindy’s family is heavily involved for most of the story, and it was great to see the family work through some difficult things. It was also fun to see their more lighthearted interactions. Luke’s family also makes an appearance. This is the third book in the series about all the Fox siblings so there is background and carryover from the previous books, but there is enough explanation that this story can be read alone if one wishes to. Of course the best reader experience will be to read the series in order. This is an open door story with frequent strong harsh language.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I am a big fan of Mary Frame. I've read the first 2 volumes in the Fox Family series and loved them. This series is more emotionally challenging than some of her other series, but are well worth reading.
The continuing arc that informs the series is the abandonment of the family by their mother when the children were young, the death of the youngest daughter of the family when she was in high school, followed by their father's death from illness. Each of the children has dealt with these issues in their own way, not always successfully or intelligently and in ways that have torn the relationship between the siblings. This story focuses on the second-oldest daughter, Mindy.
Mindy has been working very successfully as a talent seeker for a record label for the past 10 years. She falls in love with one of her clients, who happens to be married and who tells her he's getting a divorce from his wife. Naturally, he does not and she ends up getting fired and now no one in the industry will hire her. She discovers a brilliant singer-songwriter, Luke, who is a former ER doctor and decides, on the advice of her sisters and their partners, to create her own label to produce his first album.
The issues of abandonment, death, alcohol and drug abuse, and suicide are all included in the storyline and how those issues address the characters. Even so, there are some really funny moments in the book--as I expect from Frame--and also as expected, the characters were sensitively written and engaging, the story well-paced, and I couldn't put it down. I loved Mindy and Luke and the rest of the their families, and I can hardly wait to see what happens next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
After a huge media scandal with an artist she worked with, record label exec Mindy is out of a job, and no one in the industry wants to hire her. So, after some gentle nudging from her sister, she decides to open her own record label! And the first artist she signs is Luke- a musician that’s been trying to her Mindy to sign him for a year. The only problem? Luke has crippling stage fright. Mindy has a “no dating musicians” rule in place, but there’s no way Mindy and Luke can resist each other.
I absolutely loved the honest and raw conversations Mindy and Luke had with one another, mostly talking about death and grief- especially the one around the fire. The two of them had so much shared understanding that they were able to connect so quickly.
The end twist with Blake definitely wasn’t what I thought it was going to be! It was so great to see Luke stand beside Mindy the whole time and he’ll be her support.
It was so great seeing Luke accepted so quickly by Mindy’s family, especially the fast friendship between Luke, Jake, and Archer. And the moments between Jake and Luke were perfect. Jake just needs someone to help guide him, and I’m so glad he found that in Luke! But poor Jake also cannot catch a break walking in on his sisters and their partner 😂
I loved seeing more insight into the reason Mindy and Taylor hated each other. And, as hard as it probably was for Mindy, I'm GLAD Taylor didn’t forgive her right away. I think the two of them have a long way to go in repairing their relationship. And I can’t wait to see it continue in Taylor’s book up next!
Ahhh, another good read from this talented author!
I really enjoy this series and these characters in the last two books, but I do believe this is my favorite one yet. It's a slow burn, but very entertaining!
This time, we follow Mindy's life. Still not in a good place with Taylor, (IYKYK) and when both her career and love life blow up at the same time (and for the same reason), her family is there for her, while she regroups. If it weren't for Piper, Luke and Mindy might not have connected at all. Oh, and Luke? Whew! A great book boyfriend, for sure!! He ends up fitting in perfectly with all the characters in the "Fox world".
The creativity of this story kept me entertained and engrossed in these character's struggles with self-doubt, grief, recovery and healing. The emotional journey each Fox sibling is on is easy to connect with, and I appreciate that Luke (who deals with his own losses and challenges) was able to be supportive to them.
This read has everything I want and need... Emotional situations that are easy to connect with ✔ Strong women working to succeed ✔ Steamy chemistry between characters ✔ Involved and supportive families ✔ A great Happy Ever After ✔
I strongly recommend reading this series in the correct order to have the best reading experience. It's worth the time to do so. I was fortunate to receive my free ARC from Booksirens, and I voluntarily leave my review.
In this third installment of the Fox Family romance series, music exec Mindy falls for talented but performance-shy Luke. Mindy is struggling to restart her career after a scandalous affair with a famous client, and she hesitates to risk her heart - and her reputation - on another musician. Will Luke's sincerity be strong enough to overcome her doubts?
I loved the relationship between Mindy and Luke in this novel. They share a similarly traumatic past - the death of Mindy's youngest sister is a thread that ties the entire Fox Family series together, and Luke's high school best friend died by suicide. Luke helps Mindy process her feelings and move past her guilt over her sister's death, and the way this is reflected in Mindy's thoughts, and her relationships with her sisters and ex, is very well done. Even better, Mindy's personal growth grounds her relationship with Luke in something deeper than physical attraction and a shared love of music.
Luke's story, however, is less thoroughly developed. Although he is half of the main couple and narrates roughly half the novel, all his issues - stage fright, conflict with parents over his musical aspirations - are quickly resolved or shunted aside in favor of more Fox-centric drama. This didn't interfere with my page-to-page enjoyment of the book, but it could have been more powerful if Luke's story had carried more weight.
4.5 stars, rounded up.
[I received a complimentary ARC from the author. Opinions are my own.]
This was such a fun read! I loved Mindy and Luke so much! They were wonderful together.
Mindy just lost everything - her boyfriend, her job, her apartment will go soon if she doesn't find new work to pay for it. Things are rocky at best. She thought her now ex Blake was the one, she tried to stay away from him since he was her client and a musician, but she didn't and things didn't work out. He is married so she is the other woman and well...her record label dumped her and no one else will give her a chance.
Luke is a musician who can't sing in front of other people. He loves songwriting and has given himself a year to try and make something in music happen. Though that year is almost up and how will that even work anyway with his anxiety?
When Mindy's sister plants the seed that she should start her own label and forwards her a song of Luke's she reaches out to see if he wants to be her first client. Yes, she is attracted to him, but she will keep things strictly professional. She can't make a mistake like she did with Blake.
Oh these two were so cute together! They both have their past baggage, but oh, Luke was so sweet and wonderful how can you not fall for him? And Mindy is just as great and really cares about other so much. I really enjoyed this story. It is a bit of a slower burn which I enjoyed. And really it was just a great read. Made me smile so much and I didn't want to put it down.
Thanks to the author for an advanced copy of this book.
This book touches on a few important subjects, some of which are sensitive and may be triggers such as suicide and the death of a family member. However, nothing is discussed in detail, and it is all very well and sensitively written. First and foremost, I loved Mindy and Luke! There was something just so right about them together! I was sad and mostly angry, that Mindy bore the brunt of the fallout of her relationship with Blake! I did love how she handled it and didn’t give up! She took a huge chance and pretty much laid out everything on the line. Blake was pretty horrible. He did nothing to help Mindy mitigate the disaster he caused, left her out to dry, and then tries to weasel his way back into her life when things start to go well for her. Horrible!!! I loved Luke and appreciated that Mary Frame wrote about his path to music and why he left the medical field. I also loved how helpful and insightful he was, not only with Mindy, but with Jake, too! Now that the reason behind the rift between Mindy and Taylor has been revealed, I’m hoping they can heal and move forward. I’m glad that Mindy was honest about what happened and how her guilt played into her behavior. I’m genuinely curious to see what’s in store for Taylor and Jake! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest opinion.
Mary’s boyfriend and her client tell her his wife is pregnant and he is going back to her. It is bad enough to lose him but the fact that she manages the rock star really hurts her reputation with everyone in the music industry. She is about to give up but decides to create her own record label. Luke was an ER doctor for years but is giving himself a year to see if his songs will allow him to have a music career. The year is almost up, and he sends his best song to Piper, Mindy’s sister. One listen and Mindy thinks they can save both their careers.
I love the Fox family. Lots of drama there with past unfortunate circumstances but love wins out with Findley managing the family. I love how she is patient and supportive and how Mindy is there for her as well. Luke’s parents believe he is wasting his life with music, but he is determined to realize his dreams. I love Luke’s best friend Kevin’s grandmother and how she gives him the attention he needs. Luke has stage fright and I really like how Mindy helps him get through the singing on stage. Luke, having been through difficult times after Kevin’s death, is so empathic with Mindy’s brother Jake. Great characters and a wonderful love story.
Mary Frame's Another Fox Bites the Dust is the third book in the Fox siblings series. This story follows Mindy Fox as she tries to claw her way back into the music industry she worked so hard in but was ultimately forced out of due to a relationship with a married artist. The first musician she signs to her label is Luke Fletcher, the very talented and very tempting guitarist who she has vowed to be nothing but professional with.
This book was as great as the first two when it came to dealing with grief and how we can blame others and ourselves while dealing with such tragic loss. The writing was as emotionally evocative and clever as the rest of Frame's novels and I enjoyed it very much. Luke was such a wonderfully supportive character and I absolutely loved him. I did have a hard time getting into the story in the beginning because of the infidelity (I agree that Mindy wasn't at fault, but due to my own past experiences, it was still hard to root for her in the beginning).
Once again the side characters, particularly the Fox siblings and the other artists working with Luke were exceptional. I want to visit Camp Aria and hang out with all of them. I am intrigued to read Taylor's story as the dynamic between her and Mindy has been something I have wanted to learn about since book one.
Another winner from Mary Frame. Her novels are always moving and extremely entertaining. I highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially readers of romance and fiction.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Mindy's life has imploded thanks to a philandering rockstar and former client. With her career on standby and her reputation a mess, she finds herself unable to find a job at any record label. Her sister suggests starting her own record label with Luke who they happen to conveniently run into. Luke has the talent that Mindy knows will make it big. Should she do it? Heck yeah.
Her and Luke begin working on his album. It's his only chance to make music his career instead of being a doctor. So they head to the Fox family camp ground where the magic happens.
They get to know each other while working together. She learns to work through her complicated family issues and her major trust issues with Luke's help. He, in turn, shares his painful past in which he struggles with but he begins to heal and find peace with Mindy's help.
The characters were fleshed out. I loved Luke but Mindy was harder to relate to. The side characters, that we met in previous books are much welcomed to the story. They provide a bit of comic relief and keep the story moving.
The book is well written, good plot, some angst, well written characters, and chemistry. There is no cheating, no obvious OM/OW drama, and a lovely HEA. I am looking forward to continuing this series.
Rock Romance Set in a Background of Family Drama - Engrossing!
Mindy is the third Fox sibling to get her story, and she has been somewhat of an absent workaholic mystery. In her story we finally find out why, when she loses her career in explosive fashion, and turns to her family in starting over. They are wonderfully there for her (as they have been there for each other in the previous books), and enter Luke - her first client - and a huge temptation. Not only is there chemistry, but they connect on a deeper level as well, but having been burned Mindy doesn't want to get involved with a client...and the fun begins. There are also similar tragic losses in both of their pasts, and she and her family are still reeling from it, while Luke has found a way to express his grief through his music. They are wonderful together, and he is wonderful at counseling her brother Jake (can't wait for his story, although it is hinted that Taylor's is next.). This book can be read as a standalone, but all of the books in the series are wonderful and worth reading in order.
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
This story is about overcoming stupid decisions we all have made at some point in our lives, and how to get back on the right path. Mindy had made a huge mistake that cost her not only her relationship but her job. As we follow Mindy navigate to get back on the right path, we see her grow and flourish. Mindy is an amazing woman, carrying, smart and driven with a huge secret and a bit of guilt. Luke has also navigated away from his own path, forgetting about his dream and has been trying for the past year to make it a reality, but with time running out and not many prospects he has at a crossroad, when Mindy and Piper appear. Mindy is set on focusing only on saving her career and making Luke's dreams come true, but returning to fox family property seems to work its magic causing Mindy to be open to love. This story touches on a few issues of infidelity, alcoholism, death guilt, love, mistrust, and media craze. It's about finding the strength to accept your mistakes, face the real issues and confront the ones your hurt in the process. It's about having the strength to take a chance on yourself and on love. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving ARC
Mindy is good at her job - and she should be, because all she does is work. However it only takes one deviation from the script to bring it all crashing down, and when it does, she has to re-evaluate her life and also face some of the issues she's literally been working to avoid. This series has an ongoing theme of a family coping with loss and grief, and this instalment takes them all another step along that road. Mindy is a determined woman, who channels adversity into a new project and finds an unexpected love in the process. Luke is her perfect foil, dealing with his own grief and using it to follow his dreams, and his experience and character make him fit in very well to the Fox family. I liked the careful way their relationship develops, and also how Mindy learns to deal with aspects of her past; we find out more about the rift with her sister Taylor, something that (realistically) is not wrapped up neatly. An entertaining, emotional and worthwhile read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book continues with the lives of the Fox Family and focuses on Mindy Fox. It picks up after Mindy made a regretful decision with a married client. Her career is in the gutter, she’s blacklisted in the music industry while the client sores through the scandal leaving her in the dust.
Where does she turn? Home with the Fox family! I love this family and how they are coming to terms with their past. They support each other while learning how to deal with grief and trauma as a family and individually. Mindy has a second chance when meeting Luke not only professionally but personally. Go Team Lundy!
I loved getting to the bottom of Mindy’s relationship with Taylor. They are starting to let go of guilt they have been carrying for so long.
The ending twist with Blake was fantastic. I never saw that coming.
Jake always catching his sisters in a compromising situation is hilarious. Just when he thinks he has a new bff….lol.
Looking forward to more from the Fox family.

Another fun addition to Mary Frame’s Fox Family series. I loved the first book and the books after have been great. Another Fox Bites the Dust brings us Mindy Fox and Luke Fletcher. Mindy is on her last leg after losing her career and Luke is taking his last chance at a music career before calling it quits. They find each other when they needed each other most and are hoping they survive this giant risk they’re taking in the music industry.
I enjoyed Mindy and Luke’s story. Both their stories were equally heartbreaking, I loved that Luke was super honest about how he felt and how he coped. I feel like Mindy took a page out of his book and her self reflection helped her release years worth of misplaced and projected guilt and shame. I really enjoyed their story and I loved how they came together. I’ve really enjoyed this family and this series and I was really happy to read Mindy’s story. Definitely recommend this series and I’d recommend this book to people who enjoy musical romances or a family series.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a copy.
What a wonderful story of mending a broken heart and becoming a better version of herself! Mindy was more than a woman deeply marked by childhood trauma, like her sisters. She is truly guilty of blind passion and she pays for it dearly and completely - and how interesting the twist of the story gets when it transpires that she wasn't the only one to pay in the end, despite it appearing differently in the beginning. She was not only betrayed by herself and her lover, but by her co-workers and business partners, and it seemed that the whole world had turned against her. And then you understand the importance of family if (and only if) they truly support you without conditions and without judgement.
The way this book describes the healing power of music and the true connection of souls is what only a talented author can accomplish, and this is a good book, totally worth reading. I really look forward to reading Jake's story next!
The fourth in the series, this follows Mindy after she’s lost her boyfriend, her job and her credibility in her work life. She goes back to her family home, trying to get her life back on track, and trying not to fall for Luke, a singer/songwriter who literally bowled her over.
Although this is a standalone read, I’m glad I’ve read the first three, it brings the family to life for me, as we know the majority of their back stories. Mindy is full of doubts, but determined to get her life back on track, even if it means doing it alone, well, with family to cheer her on. I think we’d all like to meet someone like Luke, I’m sure there are people like him out there. The characters all blend well, feel like real people, and a decent story too. A really enjoyable read, bringing in a few strands from previous books, that answer some questions from them. I’m looking forward to the next one. A good read.
