Mayhem is a collection of stories that examines the darker side of people. Violence and damage floe from the decision and reaction of ordinary people faced with conditions they could not imagine. The collection now includes the horror novella, Merciless Pact.
This is the first book I've read by this author, typical for a collection of stories, there was a mix of good and bad, but some were too short, think the shortest was a page and a half (I read small font), and there were some typos
What I like about reading Brown is how he doesn't play into the conventions of a genre. He found a comfortable spot at the edge of horror, crime and literary fiction, so you never know what to expect. It's particularly true in this short story collection, where it varies at every few pages. Stories like THE HIT and A DIFFERENT COMMUNION hovered above the rest, but it really is a high quality collection we're dealing with here. Read it to prepare for HILL COUNTRY, Brown's new novel coming up this month
A good collection of short horror tales that vary between the supernatural to the down right murderous. This collection has a little something that will appeal to everyone.
