Jim Weiss's historical audio performances are both interesting and informative. The girls love listening to just about anything, and Egypt is of particular interest, so this one was a winner.

Update, 8/30/21:

E asked for a new book to listen to on a longish drive, and we didn't have time to get to the library... so I dug this out of my closet and told her she was getting one of her Christmas presents early. I had forgotten that we had checked it out from the library a couple years ago, so it wasn't exactly new. Thankfully, the kids seemed to forget too, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Weiss is an excellent narrator and chooses stories that will appeal to both children and their parents.

Update, 1/17/22:

We had a bit of a drive today and E specifically asked if we could listen to "the Ancient Egypt stories" for the trip. The girls enjoyed the listen, as did the grownups. Weiss is an excellent teller of stories.

Really nice audio CD about Egyptian myths and a true story of the excavation of Ramses' tomb. It added a lot of dimension to our exposure of Ancient Egypt and my kids loved it and. We were on the wait list a long time for this at our library and I'm tempted to buy it--we could gain a lot by listening to it a few times. I'll certainly be looking up for audio CD's by Jim Weiss because good nonfiction told by a great storyteller is hard to find.
