Night of the Killer Clowns #3

Do Not Disturb 3: Goldbrush

Rate this book
Twenty-year-old Angelina Navarro returns to her hometown of Goldbrush, Nevada—a remote village in the desert with a small but friendly community—after years away at a boarding school. She expects arguments with her mother after failing to return home immediately after graduating, but she is determined to get her thirteen-year-old brother, Gilbert, out of that dead-end town. Although she has an urge to give up and run off again at the first sign of conflict, Angelina decides to stay at the local lodge until she can resolve her issues with her family.

But she wasn’t expecting a small crew of killer clowns to find Goldbrush and begin indiscriminately slaughtering the residents. Angelina’s homecoming turns into a bloody battle to protect her home.

Jon Athan, the author of Night of the Prowler, brings you to Goldbrush on the Night of the Killer Clowns in this grim, gruesome slasher.

Last book in what I think is a trilogy. Like the rest of the books it's very brutal dark and very intense. Full of insane and fucked up clowns but a story line I could read a lot more from.

Do not disturb 3.... where do I even begin??

Let's start with some trigger warnings...
Assault, hostage, rape, mutilation, murder, blood, gore, abuse, sexual assault, profanity, clowns.... and that's just to name a few. If you can't handle excessive gore and blood, this is NOT a good book for you. NOONE in this book is exempt from the suffering and death either...men, women, old folks, and children will all fall prey.

Do Not Disturb 3: Goldbrush is the third and hopefully not the last book in the series. Much like books 1 and 2, we get another small glimpse of just what's happening during the TheNightt of the Killer Clowns. We get the chance to witness the carnage of the night yet again. Just when you think it couldn't get more intense or bloody, a damn camper comes along carrying the most vile of killers!

This part of the story takes place just outside of Las Vegas in the BFE Town of Goldbrush. We follow 3 of the most despicable clowns to appear so far! Seriously, these characters are downright disgusting and pure evil. If they have their way, Goldbrush will burn, and there will be no survivors.... so you know what that means? You are going to have to go grab your own copy to see if anyone survives the night!

It is my personal opinion that you do NOT have to read all 3 books in order to be able to appreciate them. They all are solid as individual stories, but they do overlap to a degree, so for the best experience, if possible, definitely start with book 1!!

I was provided a copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you again, Jon Athan. It truly was a blast reading this book! I cannot wait to see just what brutal fuckery you have in store for us next! Please please please keep this series going. I can't believe I'm saying this but I need more from these clowns! I'm ready for the next horrifyingly vile adventure.

This book was amazing! More brutal than the first two books, as well. Just when you think someone will be spared, you remind yourself what author you're reading. If you haven't read this series, grab it now. It's the best clown series I've ever read.

Spoiler alert!

Not only is one of these clowns a serial killer, but another is mentally disturbed, and the 3rd is the most disgusting character yet. The kill scenes are unique and thought out perfectly. Unlike the other two books in this series, you get a deeper background look at some of these characters, so you cheer for them, cry for them, and then mourn for them. What an amazing ride!

Ok this is my favourite of the series so far, I’ve added so far as Jon has suggested he is going to carry on this series if the demand is there. Yes Jon, yes the demand will be here! This is an awesome slasher book, filled with depravity and gore. While this can be read as a stand alone it does link to the 1st books so I would recommend reading 1&2 1st, I’m glad I did as I don’t think I would have enjoyed them as much after reading this one. The 1st chapter sets up the rest of the book perfectly, it gave me kind of hills have eyes feel at the start, replace the inbred’s with psychopathic serial killer clowns and we continue the wild ride from there! Great character building, awesome kills. It was hard to put this book down!

This book was INSANE! I read as fast as I could, anxious to know what was going to happen next. Jon Athan did an incredible job of creating original death scenes and making you feel you were right there, watching those precious characters expire in more and more unusual ways. The violence, the gore, the suspense, the thrill of this read – I can’t say enough about any of it! This book’s clowns are not simply murderous or sadistic: they’re utterly evil, messed up, wrong in the head. One of them is an actual serial killer, wanted for years, the female one purportedly sees ghosts and the other is ALL kinds of SICK. And this time, Jon spends some time allowing us to know the poor sweet people in the small town of Goldbrush, Nevada; unlike the previous two standalone books of the ‘Night of the Killer Clowns’ series, this book gets you into the characters’ minds in vivid detail, their family problems, their small-town politics, their past. When the Night of the Killer Clowns comes up and everything explodes (pun intended!) you understand their choices, you feel their desperation, up until their last breath, all the while watching them getting ambushed, hunted, and eventually massacred. Athan has absolute control of his story (I wonder how he keeps tabs on such complexity!), going for the meanest and the nastiest outcomes, the killings that hit the hardest, killings you won’t find anywhere else, and he’s showing absolutely no mercy. And the ending: no spoilers, but, at least, you get closure: a shocking, vile closure, gut-wrenching (there’s a pun here somewhere!) and heart-breaking, but, at least, you don’t end up with any ambiguities. Everything is described in razor-sharp clarity. This is a book you climb into and struggle to come back out of, wondering how much depravity you can take!

I’ve said it once but I’ll say it again—who am I liking a book about killer clowns? After 3 such books, I think it’s safe to say that if Athan writes it, I’m gonna read it & love it. One of my favorite things about this book was that even though it could technically be a standalone, it all came full circle with the other two in the trilogy. Oh, and also that even after unimaginable brutality & horror in the first two, he somehow came up with even more disgusting shit in this one. Truly an extreme horror genius 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Title: Do Not Disturb 3: Goldbrush
Author: Jon Athan
Release Date: June 29, 2023
Rating: 5/5 ⭐️

Do Not Disturb 3: Goldbrush is the third book in the Night of the Killer Clowns series by Jon Athan.

This book takes place in a new location and introduces us to 3 new and unique clowns. The pacing and the writing for this story are VERY different from the previous book. I found the writing to be more suspenseful and while there may not have been as many action-packed gore scenes, there were some that were more disturbing and disgusting than in the previous books. This book had fewer characters, allowing the story to focus more on a select few. Because of this, I found myself connecting more with certain characters than I did in the previous book.

I’ve seen a lot of people question whether this book can be read as a standalone or if the series should be read in order. I 100% recommend reading the series in order…if you do, I don’t think you’ll regret it! The author mentions the possibility of another book in this series that would be set in Thailand and I REALLY hope that happens! I’d love to see how the clowns perform in different parts of the world and how they might use their settings to their advantage.

Thank you to Jon Athan for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

5 Gigantic Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 🥳🎉🎊

This Book Was....
A MASTERPIECE, IT WAS...MINDBLOWING,PHENOMENAL,AMAZING,OUTSTANDING,EXCEPTIONAL,
ASTONISHING,MAGNIFICENT,AWESOME & SENSATIONAL....

The ending in this book will haunt me until my dying day... 🐇🐰💩🩸 I really wasn't expecting it...

The best of the "Do Not Disturb" trilogy by far...it drips blood from every page you turn.

This could be read as a standalone...but I would advise you to read the first 2 books first to get you in the clowning around mood!!!! 🤡🤡🤡
But please be aware and read with caution as this book is very very sick, very very nasty, very very brutal and the torture within the pages will make you question yourself....why you are reading it???🩸🩸 🔪🪓🧯🔥🩸🩸

Jon Athan you are the best...please🙏never stop writing books! ❤️❤️❤️

Another winner. I think this group of clowns was the most memorable so far, apart from Deadface in book two. I'd absolutely read another Captain Gashes story. He was one of Athans most interesting villains I've read.

My one gripe is that the main characters didn't get as much background as in the previous books. Angelina returned home to talk to her family about something, Heather had a violent grudge against Angelina that seemed to be from more than just her leaving home, the teacher seemed to have something going on, and we don't really get to the root of any of it. At least thats how it seemed to me. Maybe that was part of the meanness of this one. Less drama, less exposition, more horrific torture and mutilation.

I hope in the next one or in a future sequel we get to see Deadfaces compound and get to spend more time with the clowns. Their characterization begs for more exploration.

It's official!! This is my new favorite series (I didn't say trilogy because my fingers are crossed that Athan will give us more Do Not Disturb books.. we want more, you hear us Jonny?!). Goldbrush had all the brutality and shock factor of the first two books but it delved a bit deeper into the characters, gave us a look into their lives before tossing them all into a blood drenched hell. The author knew exactly what he was doing, making us care for the people in this town just to rip them apart! Athan said he wanted this book to be "grimmer, meaner, and nastier" and he absolutely succeeded in doing that! As always, the kills were creative and some even caused my jaw to drop, which is part of why Jon Athan is my favorite.. he always makes his kills gnarly and exciting, even when he's killing off a loved character. This installment had the isolation from the first book, and the performance feeling of the second, while being its own entity entirely. And the way he mentions scenes from the other two books, connecting the three seamlessly was perfect🤌🏻 I loved every minute of my time in Goldbrush with these homicidal clowns!! 5/5 skulls 💀

Brilliant

Thoroughly enjoyed this read. When I saw on the cover the clowns I was unsure , thinking another clown, fun fair read. They all have theme storyline. So I wasn't expecting big things. How wrong was i? Not only is it not around d a funfair or the clowns travelling with a funfair. But the whole book is based around a you g woman coming back from the big city life to speak to her parents. The clowns are on the road with a mission to complete. Boy do they complete it. It's twisted, barbaric with so much torture and atrocities, that you can barely read on. But once I start I have to finish, and so I did and I was engrossed and sickened but felt genuine remorse for two characters. A heartfelt story with some shocking scenes. I loved all the characters, each with their own plot an tale to tell. Which made the story become more endearing but also hateful. But it's a Job Athan book and I should know imo. For a shockingly brutal time and that I was. I'm hoping there is going to be a follow up as if love to know what happens next. 100% Recommended to anyone whom in enjoys the more extreme horror.

What a wild messed up ride this was! My favorite out of the 3 by far! It felt like a good mix between both books. The isolation of the first and the complete chaos of the second. Loved how we got to know the characters more. Really felt their desperation and their connections to each other. The death scenes were completely insane and brutal. Definitely not for the faint of heart! I'm amazed at how Jon Athan comes up with new and original deaths everytime. I could really picture everything in my mind with how well he describes everything. The clowns in this one were more brutal and absolutely sick. A serial killer, a girl who can see ghosts, and a very sick man. Sounds like a good combo right? Haha.

Highly recommend!!! If I could give it a million stars I would!

Wow! It is not often I give an "extreme" novel 5 stars, but wow! This book was hard-to-put- down amazing! First off, the plot is solid; the storyline is tight and fast paced. The characters are really well developed. Some you will fall in love with and others you will love to hate.
The violence is original and totally OFF THE CHARTS! It becomes personal when it happens to these characters you have come to know and love!
I had not read the previous 2 Do Not Disturb novels and this works great as a stand-alone (although I already have them loaded into my Kindle, can't wait to dive in for seconds!)
I can honestly say this is one of THE BEST extreme horror novels I have read! You definitely want this on your bookshelf!
Thanks to Jon Athan for the chance to read this early!

I just finished reading Do Not Disturb 3 Goldbrush by Jon Athan. Fantastic book! Book 3 is so well done and continues the story in a simultaneous way of what is happening in Book 2. The character build is executed in such a way that it is easy to associate with all of them, victims & killers. When the residents of Goldbrush die, because they will, the creative & descriptive writing allows you to be drawn in their world and their lives, and you can visually see the horrific torture they are suffering.
I did think some of the death scenes seemed normal however. Meaning that it wasn’t necessarily over the top in the Way they were killed or with What they were killed with like in the previous two books. Nonetheless, what made it top notch in gore, gruesomeness and nastiness was the tremendous detail of their deaths.

In Do Not Disturb 3, to me, the clowns are portrayed more like regular serial killers dressed as clowns vs clowns that are killers. The fear exuding from these residents of Goldbrush is palatable. The killers portrayed themselves in a way that made it seem even more sinister because they looked like they could have been anyone of Goldbrush’s residents. “Monsters aren’t supposed to look them”. That in it itself made it more terrifying.

My favorite character was BooBoo. She came across to me as a little psycho and a little normal. She was able to get close to some of her victims before they knew what was happening because of her cute young character. She doesn’t immediately come off as a killer to her victims until it was too late. I also loved how she adopted her kills as her new ghost friends.

I was also rooting for Angelina. I really wanted her to make it, but I knew better. I think because of this, her death scene was my favorite out of all of them. Some of the kills at the end did get a lot more gory at the end vs some of the kills in the beginning. Which I loved. The messier the better. However, I understand that 3 killers vs a town of victims…well they couldn’t spend tons of time on the torture in the beginning as they could near the end.

I can easily see this story progressing seeing as how this book ended. It would be cool to see Captain Gashes taking over as leader since Deadface is now dead. (Which Captain Gashes doesn’t know about yet!) Maybe even going somewhere we’re clowns are taboo or somewhere where that culture doesn’t know what clowns are to up that fear factor. Since he is a known serial killer, to see him become famous again would be awesome.

I rate this book 5 stars. Fantastic story flow, character build, disturbing detail. Amazing from beginning to end. I can’t wait for more.

Do Not Disturb 3 was just as good as the first 2 books in the series, if not better! I do have a soft spot in my heart for book 1 though (hahaha). If you haven't read the first two..good news, you can still read number 3! I suggest buying all 3 though because they're all so good! Book 3 was laid out a little different. There were only 3 main Clowns and they were brutal! One was an actual Serial Killer. The second a girl who sees Ghosts. The third, a very SICK and DUSTURBED man. These three Killer Clowns take over the city of Goldbrush and by take over I mean kill them all in sick, twisted ways. In the first book Killer Clowns took over a smaller motel and in the second a huge hotel in Vegas. In the previous books you didn't have much of a back story on the victims, but in this one you get to know them. By Athan giving us an insight into their lives, you find yourself more in your feels when they are brutally killed in all new ways throughout the chapters due to the connection he allows his readers to grow with them. It amazes me how Athan comes up with new, sick and twisted ways to kill the victims in each of these books in this series! The way these Killer Clowns kill these people is never dull and is done in ways you haven't read before. Whether I read the physical book or listened to the audio of this series, I was able to picture everything going on in my head by the amazing descriptions Athan writes. He knows exactly how to describe his characters and death scenes in the perfect way. This book is exciting, bloody, disgusting, cruel, and brutal! Definitely not for the faint of heart or easily offended! If you're not already afraid of Clowns, you will be!

What a read!!
This book was a crazy ride. Jon Athan did it again. How is mind works is pure genius.

This is book 3 in his Night of the killer clown series but honestly you don’t need to read the others to start this one (that’s what I did) and to enjoy it.

There’s an extensive list of trigger warnings: Clowns, gore, assault, r**e word, blood, murder and the list goes on. If you’re squeamish this book isn’t for you.

The writing and pacing of this book are done perfectly and the author gives us plenty of action-packed gruesome scenes which keeps you hoping that some characters will make it alive. The author also dives into the main killer clowns past (one is definitely a serial killer, the other is mentally unstable and the third one is just an insane psychopath).

Definitely hope this isn’t the last installment of this series.

A must read for all splatterpunk and extreme horror booknerds out there.

Just like how Jon Athan said in his author’s note: Book 3 is a blend of the first 2 books. What a wild ride! My only critique is that this book seemed to prioritize graphic and disgusting kills over the actual story in the 2nd half, but the build up in the first half made most of those deaths impactful. Can’t wait to see how Jon Athan plans on concluding this series.

This would be four stars if there was at least one survivor and all three clowns were killed. The "everyone dies and villains win" trope is my least favorite in the horror genre and makes the journey ultimately pointless.

“I know how to kill, how to cause suffering, how to whip up chaos. So, who better than me to teach these clowns how to put on a bloody good show, right?”

Terri Herrera and her boyfriend Simon Lee were enjoying backpacking across Nevada when unfortunate car troubles would land them in the worst nightmare imaginable. Broken down on the side of the road, Simon managed to flag down a passing Caravan where they would first meet Boo-Boo, Captain Gashes and Pipsqueak. Lured into the van, they were offered drinks which were laced and Simon would drink his and quickly become disoriented and unresponsive. Refusing to fall victim like her boyfriend did, Terri took off running through the darned desert while Boo-Boo skipped along behind her. Beaten to death by a catctus arm, her head was removed before being brought back to the camper as a sickened souvenir. Regaining consciousness, Simon awoke strapped to a female examination table with Captain Gashes looming over him. Tortured to death, he would die alone and in agony before uttering the name of the small town the two were heading for before the tragedy struck; Goldbrush. Armed with this knowledge, the trio set off to make their leader DeadFace proud as they set forth a killing spree on the innocent people. Boo-Boo (Kelsey Vaughn), Pipsqueak (Lloyd Wallace) and Captain Gashes (Prolific serial killer Marshall Mann) are fully prepared to show the world the newest circus acts they have up their sleeves as they would record and broadcast several acts of atrocity.

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the living and the dying. Come one, come all. The traveling circus is in town with a thrilling presentation you do not want to miss. Hurry, hurry, hurry. Gather ‘round, gather ‘round.”

Angelina (Angie) Navarro is finally returning to her parents shome after running away to edperienfe life in the big city several years prior. Disconnected from her mother Heather, the two woman are barely able to speak before arguments would break out and leave tension running wild. Her father Kurt and you her brother Gilbert can do nothing but watch as the two woman stay on opposing sides. Unbeknownst to the family, a violent crime wave was spreading across the desert and leaving countless friends and neighbors deceased. With the town going up in flames and victims piling up, her family fled and barricaded within one of the houses and tried to ignore the screaming of those tortured right in the front porch. Desperate to save her family, Angie ran through the backdoor with aims to kill as many clowns as she could get her hands on. Her parents meanwhile her preparing for battle knowing deep down either of them would survive through the encounter. With only Gilbert left alive upstairs, Gashes would throw the boy through the upstairsnwindoe where he would die upon hitting the ground below. With Angie still alive following the fall, she would be taken and strapped in the RV to the same table as Simon was earlier in the night. Violated and traumatized, Captain Gashes would insert a living rabbit into her rectum and pull the deceased animal out after a prlomgued period of time. Disgusted and passed out, she would then be beheaded before the clowns would begin tracking their way to Vegas to rejoin with the other clowns to continue the reign of terror.

It happens often in the circus. Too many people. Too much to see. Too much to do. But the circus is supposed to be a family experience. You come together, you laugh together, you wonder together… you die together. So, why don’t we work together and reunite these two with their loved ones? Hmm? Do any of you recognize them?”

ARC Review: Do Not Disturb 3: Goldbrush by Jon Athan

Where to start... I had initially intended to read the first two prior to reading this book, and unfortunately life got busy. That said, after starting DND3, I found that I actually didn't really need to have read the first two, this books stands well on its own, outside of the trilogy set.

I was so ecstatic when I was able to receive a physical ARC and impatiently waited until the end of June for it to arrive. What I was not expecting was an absolute brick of a book (this is not a bad thing!). I consider Jon Athan to be more of a novel writer compared to others in the genre, but her went above and beyond with DND3, with it coming in at just under 400 pages of debauchery.

This is due, in part, to the author's fantastic character and world building skills. He really sets up a pertinent view of the town the primary portion of the story occurs, as well as developed characters with clearly visible flaws and strengths.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the plot when I first dove in, other than the basis of clowns and torture in a small town, as I chose to go in blind, but Mr Athan did not disappoint, giving us some grisly kills in the first chapter, and introducing us to the unsavory (but full of character) antagonists of the story. With the other kills within the story, I never knew what to expect from our clever clowns. Their choices for inflicting pain were just as diverse as they were. As for our primary protagonist, she was surely a spit fire, and I actually found myself rooting for her several times, which is something I rarely do (I mean, we all know how those things end in this genre).

Overall, I was impressed with this story. It was very different from the last story I read by him, and I enjoy that he has such a diverse writing style.
I will be reviewing this novel again as a trilogy set with both DND and DND2 once I have completed the second book.

I would highly recommend to those who love all things extreme horror, especially if you have a love of creepy clowns.

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐚, 𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬.

My fear of clowns began with the movie Poltergeist, and not too long ago, I researched the phenomenon of why people are afraid of clowns. Research suggests that their exaggerated facial expressions appear to convey a sense of threat, and because their make-up hides emotional signals, it creates a sense of uncertainty.

I'm also going to add that I'm afraid of clowns because of how Jon Athan brought them to life. The saga began in a motel in a deserted Nevada town, then continued on the Strip in Las Vegas, and in this installment, we visit the remote town of Goldbrush, Nevada. Angelina Navarro is 20 years old and is returning to Goldbrush after years away at a boarding school. Her return home is filled with conflict between her and her mother, who harbors resentment against Angelina for leaving. Despite her urge to say screw it and leave, Angelina stays, determined to make peace.

She never expected the clowns to show up. My God, this was probably the most blood-soaked out of the three books. The clowns were perfectly juxtaposed with their cute names and their sinister appearances, and they had absolutely zero moral compass. The kills were brutal, inventive, and extreme in a way that only this author can deliver. What sets this series apart from a regular run-of-the-mill slasher series is that the characters have life; they aren't just one-dimensional creations that the reader doesn't care about. I will caution you not to become too attached to the characters in book 3 because, whew...

I eagerly look forward to reading his notes and letter to the reader when I'm done with the book, and I was so excited to see that he plans to continue this series as long as the demand is there for it, so let's demand it! Also, he's working on something related to INTO THE WOLVES' DEN, which is one of my favorite books!

Extreme horror lovers, you want this one in your collection! Available now in paperback, hardcover, and KU! Thank you so much to the author for my early copy.

He’s done it again!

I just love Jon Athan. I have read quite a few of his books and I can’t wait to read more.
This one takes us into a third scene of “Night of Killer Clowns.” I enjoyed this one because it was almost a mix of books 1 and 2. We had a secluded motel and a packed Vegas casino, now we’re in a small town. This books takes us a little more into the lives of the characters so we get to know them before they’re brutally ripped away. The gore scenes were expertly done, as they always are. You can picture what is happening and what they’re feeling, even when you don’t want to! Check your triggers at the door though- I’m pretty sure we hit them all at some point in this book!
I would love to see this series continue. I caught the Easter egg of Brett and he’s in Thailand which we know if one of the places hit during this crazy crown apocalypse. Maybe we’ll see what’s happening there in the next one? Or maybe what happens after the other clowns learn the fate of Deadface.. and I know I’m rambling but I’d also love a book about Captain Gashes life before the circus..
Anyway.. bloody, gory, suspenseful, scary and I am here for all the DND sequels!
Side note- I think these can be read as stand-alones but I definitely recommend reading in order as there are nuggets from the others thrown in and they do all occur at the same time, just in different locations!

I jumped at the chance to become a part of Jon's ARC team for his newest book. I read the first two in the trilogy which I loved and couldn't wait to get going on this one! And this one is even more brutal and fast-paced than the others if that was even possible.
As with the others it follows numerous characters, in particular, Angelina Navarro, returning to her sleepy town, Goldbrush, in Nevada, located almost in the middle of nowhere. Conflicted on what to expect from her parents and friends after being away so long, she's apprehensive. Unfortunately, that's the last thing she'll have to worry about when a band of evil, terrifying clowns turn up shortly after with only one intention on their mind-kill 'em all...
A straight-up slasher story, the action is brutal, no one is safe, and guessing who might actually survive this impossible to determine. The three clowns are all evil and twisted in their own ways, not caring about anything other than wiping this town off the map. Some of the death scenes were pretty horrific and I for one will never look at rabbits the same way again😬
For extreme fans looking for some fast-paced, gruesome fun, can't go wrong with this one! Jon does it again!!

"Do Not Disturb 3: Goldbrush" by Jon Athan. I was sent my copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story follows twenty year old Angelina whose returned to her hometown of Goldbrush, Nevada. Her relationship with her family is tumultuous at best, and it's been quite a while since she's stepped foot back in town. Unfortunately, for Angelina and unbeknownst to her and her family, she couldn't have chosen a worse time to come home.

First things first, I absolutely love this cover. It really gives life to the killer clowns inside the story. This third installment in the Do Not Disturb series is a great mix between the first two stories with some of the most brutal death scenes to date. The cactus, the "fleshlight," and the scene between Pipsqueak and Flora were specific scenes that will definitely stick with me. The scene with Flora was one of the hardest to swallow as I wasn't expecting such extreme brutality. I'm really hoping that Athan will continue to expand on this series as I REALLY want to read the ideas he suggested in his authors note!
