You know what they say about satyrs… Jace Like many of the people in Screaming Woods, I’m cursed. My plight goes beyond my hooved feet, horns and my tail. My problem–my curse– is a different kind of hard. The perpetually stiff kind of hard, if you know what I mean. Only true love can give me “release.” I know it’s too much to hope the pretty, curvy human is my fated mate. One touch and I could lose all control, and I can’t risk hurting her. Harriet Ever since my best friend fell in love with a monster, I’ve wanted one of my own. I’ve gone out with a few, but no one gets my heart racing like the brooding, mysterious satyr. Jace refuses to give me a chance though. I know he wants me, I can see the heat simmering in his gaze. We just need some alone time. Yeah, kidnapping him might be an extreme, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do…
*** Who says monsters can’t fall in love? In Screaming Woods, anything is possible. Welcome back to the little town turned monstrous by a party potion gone wrong. Your favourite instalove authors are bringing you hairier, scarier, and hornier monsters than ever before in this beastly series coming to your kindle in May 2023.
USA Today Bestselling Author, Kat Baxter writes fast-paced, sweet & STEAMY romantic comedies. Readers have dubbed her “The Queen of Adorkable.” and her books “laugh-out-loud funny,” and “hot enough to melt your kindle.” She lives in Texas with her family and a menagerie of animals. Kat is the pseudonym for a bestselling historical romance author.
So a satyr with a constant erection needs to find his fated mate or be cursed to horny beastliness forever… the beauty and the beast retelling you didn’t know you needed.
The fact that everyone in town was so ok with him walking around with no pants and an endless boner (pants chaffed him) was ridiculous. The entire thing made me truly believe that the author was trolling this genre, hard (pun intended). This was utterly and completely stupid, and yet, three stars for sheer entertainment.
Thank you to Kat Baxter for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was so different than what I normally read from Kat. Usually when I pick up one of her novellas, I can expect cowboys, small Texas town etc. But Harry's beast involves a satyr and a human and a town full of monsters. I mean, it's literally called "Screaming Woods" so LOL. I didn't read the story involving Atticus and Vivian but I didn't feel as though I was lost. This story follows Jace and Harriet and it was so dang sweet. I love fated mates and this had both romance and humour, which I really appreciated.
And I may or may not be calling everyone my "Zom-bae" now.
While this wasn't what I was expecting from KB, it was a pleasant surprise and I'll definitely be reading any monster romances she puts out in the future!
This book me laughing from the start. I can always count on Kat for a chuckle.
I really enjoyed Harry and her go get 'em attitude. She knew what she wanted and wasn't giving up.
Also adored her relationship and love for her brother. I'm a sucker for neurodivergent characters, so I hope he gets his own book.
There was a great cast of supporting characters that I felt got just enough attention that I now want their stories too...and I'll be heading back to read Kat's book from season 1.
As a young man Jace (H) was transformed into a satyr and struggles to hide himself even amongst the other monsters that live in Screaming Woods. His physical transformation left him a perpetual state of need that leaves him painfully unable to seek the desperate release he needs but is unable to attain with anyone other than his fated mate. Harriet (h) comes to stay with friends in Screaming Woods and finds herself drawn to the satyr who hides himself away to avoid hurting her. She continues pursuing him to get to know him better, unaware that she already knows him virtually. Love that she’s the one doing the pursuing and kidnapping to get what she wants. Jace is really bad when he takes Chris down. I loved the ‘is he fainting goat.’ Sweet human-satyr fated mates romance with plenty of heat and a bit of angst.

Okay. Vivian's friend Harriet is hanging out in Screaming Woods while her BFF gets settled in with her zombie honey and BOY does she enjoy some of the sights. Specifically, the time she caught the resident satyr in all his unfettered glory. Unfortunately, she hasn't seen the hunky guy since that one time, but she's resourceful and determined and ...well, actually, she doesn't realize that he's someone she kind of knows. Sort of.
So. Harry's hanging in Screaming Woods. Jace is hiding out (due to the fact that his curse causes him extreme sensitivity when he wears clothes and the townsfolk aren't too keen on seeing his junk waving around) and pretty resigned to this unending nightmare he's been living for the past 20 years. A confluence of events has Harry searching for Jace and THINGS HAPPEN, as you might imagine when a satyr and his special someone cross paths.
A not-so-fun curse, a lady who doesn't know who she looking for until she finds him, an angry catman, and a town that pulls together to protect Jace. *thumbs up*
I have read almost the entire series of Monsters Between the Sheets Seasons 1 and 2 that are currently out as of this book. This book is about Harriet or Harry as she is known by. It is also about music Professor, Dr. Jason Ramsey aka Jace who is now a Satyr. Sadly, he is Cursed to never have a certain type of relief until he finds his fated mate who will love him unconditionally and he will love in return.
Harriet is a perpetual student. Her brother is on the spectrum and she is trying to find Dr. Ramsey in order to gain his help as her brother is being sued. Her brother Steven also has synesthesia, which means he can see the music as he composes. Vivian who is with zombie Atticus in Screaming Woods, where 20 years ago, Dr. Karloff made a big mistake and turned those that drank his Frankenpunch into monsters. Since the area around Screaming Woods is now gentrifying, more normals are those who feel out of place with normals are moving there to SW.
One of Jace’s friends is Xander who is a griffin. I laughed a lot during this book as Xander is a riot as is Jace. Harriet loves mythology and learning, so I get her. She is also a big sister like me- and would do just about anything to protect her brother. Vivian is a romance writer. I love her too.
I’m totally in love with the town and the characters. Although I had trouble reading Atticus and Vivian’s book since he is a zombie, but he wasn’t all “BRAINS!” So I got through it. Lol
The things Harriet does to track down her professor is a riot. I laughed so much during this book. She also thinks outside the box. I really enjoyed this book and this series. I can’t wait to read the new ones that are coming out at the end of the month and the beginning of June. All of the books can be read on KU except the 2 that are by an author who isn’t on KU. Wah. Lol.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Quick and dirty and all the good things. I love these monster books from Screaming Woods. I enjoyed Harry in Vivian’s book so I was excited to read her story. This definitely has an instalove feel to it, but the fact that Harry has known of Jace for years makes this more realistic. A fun take on Satyr’s, Harry’s Beast makes for some naughty fun. Quick and easy to read with all the feels and an HEA. Great read if you want something short and sweet. Another hit from Kat!
This was cute and funny I wish the communicated abt their feelings better but I get it it’s hard the pacing was a little weird for me but I did rly enjoy them and I’m glad they got their happily ever after
After some really burn-the-book-to-ashes worthy novels I suffered through in this monster series, this one was a breath of fresh air. It was not fantastic, but in comparison, good enough. Safe No cheating OM drama, this cat man looking monster is hell bent on wanting the h, she went on a coffee date with him, and wants to fight Jace for Harriett. H In contact OW, (he had a fiancée, whom he said he didn't love, she stayed with him for 2 weeks after his transformation trying to help with his problem then left. You would think he cut all ties after she left 21 years ago, but they are still in contact, since he emailed her a document that could help Harriet's brother. Why couldn't it have been someone else, ANYONE else. It didn't add anything to the story for him to still be in contact with his ex.) No separation Neither virgins HFN The Hero, a satyr named Jace, a music teacher and piano player, has a big problem. He has a painful hard on, can't cum, can't even pre cum, unless he has sex with the woman who will fall in love with him and he with her. His inner monologue says he didn't try to find love to finally bust a nut, because it would mean hurting the girl, (because his dick is monstrous), so he didn't because of his fiancee. His other Griffin friend, his only friend, Xander said that he has to try, that he has been celibate a few years, so Jace has tried to fuck women since his fiancee. I am confused about his celibacy. Was it a 21 years of a just a few years? By the way, I am not looking forward to Xander's story, he talks about having stamina when he was human and now has tons of stamina for sex as a Griffin, which makes me think he fucks around a lot *sigh, rolling my eyes* I hope it is not the case, but I fear it will be. Jace meets Harry (Harriett) and they talk a little bit, she is not shy about the tree trunk he has for a dick, and he tells her when he was human it was already magnum condom size (did not need to know the size of condom he wore when he used to fuck other women in his past, including the ex fiancee), so now as a satyr it is even bigger and constantly hard and painful. She describes it as the shaft thick, long and veiny and the head as big as a fist. He tried to push her away, she was the pursuer in the relationship, which I did not care for, I prefer the H to be the pursuer. He didn't seem interested in her, no spark, nothing, meanwhile she is creaming her panties for him. She comes across a little desperate which is cringe, she tells him if it would make him feel comfortable if she let her tits out for him. Ick!! That is when the catbeast Chris, walks in and yells,' so this is the freak you left me for?' she tells Jace that they had coffee and that she is not interested in him. When the catbeast leaves after a few a heated argument, she turns to Jace and offers to take care of his hard on, but he doesn't want to risk hurting her, not willing to try. She kidnaps him to save him from the aggressive catbeast that wants to fight him. That is what the author wants us to believe, but come on, she kidnaps him in hopes of fucking him. Call a spade a spade. They have sex in the cottage she took him to, and it works, he finally orgasms a lot and then after a torrid night, she thinks he doesn't want her after, but that was quickly resolved. She was in tears thinking that she loves him and he doesn't love her, but he quickly tells her that he is in love with her and for the curse to break, both have to be in love with each other. They say their I love yous, HFN. I think it was the much needed orgasm talking. There was no hint that he would fall in love with Harriett. Anyways, it was an ok one time read, it had some humor in it, some parts were funny. As for the couple, I did not feel the love or connection between the two it seemed more one sided, nothing deep and meaningful (not what I expect in romance). Jace was an a ok hero and Harrriett was funny but a little bit too desperate. One thing I did enjoy was the relationship between Harriett and her brother, it was sweet. It was better than most of the books in the series. Still not worth rereading though.

This is an OK paranormal romance, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
First, it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I would have liked a little more backstory on both Harriet and Jace.
I also felt like the couple was more in lust than in love. They were definitely in lust, but they just didn't know each other well enough to be in love so quickly. I get that Jace's curse was that he couldn't get sexual relief unless he was in love -- but their love was just too quick for me to believe.
Finally, there was a lot of sex in this story. I enjoy romantic sex scenes -- but these were pretty explicit, with a lot of dirty talk. I just didn't find them romantic at all.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Vivian was on her way to visit her best friend Vivian and her new husband Atticus in the small town of Screaming Woods. She had never expected her trip to change her life, a town full of monsters after they had all been cursed, seeing really was believing. There was something keeping her there but she has no idea what until she sees him, Jace hides from the whole village and she’s determined to find him and show him a life of love, but a chance meeting shows her his fears. He’s the only one that can help her brother with his court case but each time she gets close he pushes her away. But he is in danger now all because of her and a bad coffee date, can she save him and show him how to be loved or is it time to give up on a lost cause?
Jace was one a renowned teacher but that was before a Halloween trick goes wrong and left him as a satyr, his curse changed his life beyond his imagination, that one night caused him to lose his fiancé, his job and turned him into a recluse with a hardened member. Meeting Harriet changed everything he had long since given up on love, but from the moment he sees her things change and as much as he tries to push her away she keeps coming back. Has he finally found his one, the one to undo the curse or is this all just wishful thinking?
Really enjoying this authors work, the story is great and there are plenty of amusing moments. Recommended 4.5* read.
Harry's Beast by Kat Baxter is part of the multi-author Monster Between the Sheets: Season 2 series. We are back in Screaming Woods and this time the romance is between Harriet "Harry" Chambers and Dr. Jason Ramsey. Jason attended a Halloween party years ago with his fiancee where he drank the punch and ended up being turned into an "oversized goat". He took a second drink in hopes he would be reversed but that resulted in something completely different. Before he was a well respected, revered and very important musician and teacher. Now he hides himself away and only lectures online, filming himself with never showing who he really is. Harry has come to Screaming Woods to visit her best friend, Vivian, who fell in love with and married Atticus, a zombie who adores her, their story is in His Heartbeat. Harry has been trying to reach Jason, who was her professor for an online music course a few years ago, as he will be able to help with a lawsuit that has been brought against her younger and very musically gifted brother. When she finds out that Jason actually lives in Screaming Woods she is determined to find him. The question is what will happen when she does? I loved this fun, quirky, entertaining, steamy hot, passionate, and loving story. The characters are fantastic, the writing is excellent, and the story-line had my attention from start to the HEA. This book is a definite RECOMMEND READ!
HARRY'S BEAST: A Monster/Curvy Girl Romance is a shorter story that I bought a couple of Kat Baxter's Monster Books in October for Halloween, but are reading them in November, but enjoying them now.
Harry's Beast is about a sweet, curvy girl that has a younger brother that is on the spectrum. He is very loved by his older sister, and she'd do anything to protect. So, when he gets in legal trouble, Harriet gets in touch with her music Professor Jace, and wants his help, but he refuses to meet her in person. Harriett (Harry) doesn't do what she is told to stay away. She tracks Jace down to living in Screaming Woods, where monsters are very real. During the accident years back, humans were turned into different creatures. Jace doesn't want Harry to come near him, but she doesn't listen and meets a seven-foot-tall Satyr. Not even scared of him at all, not even the other really huge problem he has to endure. Matter of fact, she believes she is his soulmate and was fated to break the spell. Until Harry came along, he had only the one friend. Even his one friend didn't like seeing his huge problem hanging out. If the brave Harry has her way, she will overcome Jace's fear of hurting her, and let's her have a go at fixing his issue. If he won't cooperate then she'd just kidnap him! It would all be good in the end!
'“I’m beyond saving now. I can’t expect someone as beautiful and perfect as you to be able to—” He shakes his head.'
This was such a fun read! I liked the premise, but even starting to read the prologue- I was all in! I felt really bad for Jace. He drank the punch at the party and transformed into a monster like all the others. But his mistake was to drink a second time. Instead of changing back, he got a second, much 'harder' curse that could only be cured by sleeping with his fated mate- a woman he loved who also loved him. But with his humanity waning and not wanting to risk hurting anyone, he resigns himself to hide away alone. Harriet wanted to find her own fated monster after her best friend did. While trying to track down her former professor to help her brother with a frivolous lawsuit against him, she learns he's actually in Screaming Woods- and the beautiful creature she spotted the first time she arrived in town. I really loved the relationship building between them- and that they did have some history together. I was completely hooked and couldn't put this book down. 5 stars.
'It feels like it should be all capitalized. Perhaps even turned into a national holiday. Because that was on a level I was unaware existed.'
Jace is a Satyr with a serious problem. He is cursed. Untill he finds his fated mate that he must love, for real, he will be stuck wearing a hard on like he has never had to wear as a human, before the curse took effect. As a human, he had a fiance, a well respected position as a music teacher and, simply put, a life. Now, he can't even wear clothes as his appendage suffers from constant rubbing with clothing materials which can prove to be a serious pain.
Harriet is a big sister that idolises her musically renowned and talented brother. She also has a best friend that is currently living with a paranormal, called a beast by ignorant humans. She needs to help her kid brother with his legal problem as the problem prevents him from writing songs. His livelyhood.
Driving down to the well hidden secret town, she is distracted by seeing a beast jerking off on the side of the road sight that affects her sexually. Her friends are waiting for her and she moves on.
The writer spins a great story about helping each other, respecting boundaries, love, jealousy and the resolution of many problems causes by inexperienced characters. The book is not long, a page turner and I highly recommend it while awarding it 5 Stars.

I loved this book! 🥰
Harry’s Beast is apart of Monster Between the Sheets: Season 2. I love all of Kat’s books and this one did not disappoint! 😍
Harriet moves to Screaming Woods after her best friend found love. She loves the ideas of different monsters roaming around and would love to fall in love with one. She sees a satyr her first day there and instantly has this connection for him. She also feels a certain way about one of her online professors and comes to find out they are the same monster. Jace is hesitant with Harriet, because he has had women through themselves at him in the past for his large *eggplant*. 🤣 It is always hard and will only go away when the curse is broken. The curse is broken when a human falls in love with him and he falls in love with her. Harriet doesn’t give up and Jace comes to realize that he can’t hold back anymore.
I loved their connection and the steam between them is HOT!🔥 I also loved how I laughed at times in this book as well. Such a great read and can’t wait to read more by Kat! 💚
Harriet and Jace’s story is laugh-out- loud funny and so wonderfully sweet. And steamy…!
Jace, a college professor, is living in Screaming Woods, a haven for those who may not feel accepted in the “real” world because of their peculiar “monster” tendencies. Jace is a Satyr and because of a particular physical hardship (that will make you giggle and possibly drool), he is a recluse even among those who care for him and protect his privacy.
Harriet, aka Harry, is basically stalking Jace, to ask for his help for her brother. With a little help from his friends, Harry convinces Jace he wasn’t meant to be alone, he was meant for her. With Harry, Jace can be himself, and bonus! she LOVES his unique, infamous “asset”.
As always, Kat’s supporting cast deserve an honorable mention for their hilarity. But it was Jace, who melted my heart and Harriet, who made it sing.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I purchased a copy 🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️🔥⭐️ from me!
Another fun, flirty and heated quick read from Kat Baxter.
Harry is a music student looking for her recluse of a music professor to help with a family lawsuit. Jace has been turned to a frustrated satyr after a freak monster related accident in the town of Screaming Woods. He teaches his classes remotely and is socially outcast due to his physical frustrations until he is able to find his fated mate. He is not interested in rejection or in hurting anyone that may not be able to break his curse.
This story is an upbeat and fun take on the monster romance trope. There is a flirty chemistry between the two and you sense Jace's desperation to live a normal life without his male appendage seeking its mate. And Harry finds love and comfort in the arms of the newly changed monster in the woods.
This story was enough to get me hooked into the lives of Screaming Woods. I am definitely going to have to read more of these monster tales.....
I loved this book primarily because of Harry. Harriet, a.k.a., Harry, has an autistic brother who has synesthesia and sees sound. He is a gifted composer, and in an effort to better understand and communicate with him, Harry takes some music classes. All she can see of her professor is his hands. All she can hear of her professor is his voice. But she knows his witty, good humor, his charismatic teaching ability, and the way he takes the time to work with even the least gifted like herself. When Harry’s brother receives a lawsuit for copyright infringement she goes to her professor, Jace, for help. Along the way, she discovers that he is the satyr she saw in the woods, the beast she’s been daydreaming about, and she decides that nothing as insignificant as a curse is going to keep them apart.
This was a very sweet little short story with overtones of grumpy/Sunshine, huge members, and a fairytale happily ever after.
I read my first book by Kat last year...I remember it so vividly. His Heartbeat was my first foray into monster romance (something besides the typical shifter, vampires and demons) and Kate Baxter. ! won't lie, I didn't think another one could live up to the love I had for Atticus and Vivian. But Harriet and Jace were absolutely magical together. I loved that Harry was so honest and blunt in her responses and first impression with Jace. Overall she was just a lovable character. Jace was the kind of person that while he knew he couldn't help Harry out personally with her brother's problem, he couldn't just leave her to fight it alone. He went out of his way to find someone else who was just as knowledgeable and could help.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dr. Jason Ramsey ("Jace") was a well-respected professor who attended a Halloween party in Screaming Woods with his fiancée and drank some punch which turned those who drank it into monsters. Jason became a Satyr in a constant state of sexual discomfort until he finds his true love. But he is afraid to make a move on Harriet (“Harry”) because he may lose control and harm her. But Harry also is aware of Jace and believes he is her soulmate. So when he won’t make a move to claim her, she kidnaps him! Grab your copy and be ready for laughs as Harry carries out her plan to capture Jace’s heart. Will she get her man? Will they find their HEA together?
You will love the characters and their interactions that keep the reader amused and cheering them on to happiness. Don’t miss this one!
Harriett/ Harry had me hooked from the start. She is a self proclaimed student who loves to learn different things. Whether it’s music related to be able to communicate better with her brother or whether it’s about some of the monsters living in Screaming Woods. She’s moved to Screaming Woods to be near her best friend but she’s also looking for a former Music professor who she has a crush on and has just realized he’s living there as well. Jace was turned into a satyr when he drank the infamous punch at the party years ago. He spends his time alone, due to his condition, but when he meets Harry and realizes who she is, he starts to see things differently. This was an entertaining read with some LOL moments. The banter between Harry and Jace puts a smile on your face and gives you a good feeling all over. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Jace (mmc, monster) Harry/Harriet (mfc, human)
Twenty years or so ago, the town had a Halloween party that changed everyone's life. Some turned into literal monsters, and others were filled with dark magic. The rest of the humans fled. Jace was turned into a satyr and made the mistake of still drinking the punch after turning. Now he's double cursed. Harry originally needed his help to help her brother. But being in town has her catching the attention of a cat man who doesn't like the word no. Jace doesn't take his threats seriously, so Harry kidnaps Jace. Can they figure out the lawsuit, shut down the cat man, AND break his curses?
Not really a paranormal fan but this was cute. Harriett is in Screaming Woods with her friend, Vivian, and Vivian's zombie boyfriend. While in town she learns her favorite professor, who she is trying to reach out to and meet, is also there. What she doesn't know is he is been turned into a satyr which is why he is in hiding. She has always had a crush on him so she really doesn't care. She is going to find him and get to know him. When a cat-like creature puts a claim on her, will Jace the satyr let him have her even though she claims she wants nothing to do with him? Will Harriett but the answer to Jace's monster problems?
Different than what I am used to reading by Kat but enjoyable all the same
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. I thought that this story was funny, steamy yet still sweet overall. Jace had his life, career and future changed like many others in Screaming Woods. Harriet is drawn to the town and not just because her bestie lives there. She's on a mission to help her brother which brings her back in contact online with Prof Jace. They've ran across each other once before in person.
