Rabbi Professor Dan Cohn-Sherbok is Professor of Judaism at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He is the author of over fifty books including the acclaimed The Palestine Israeli Conflict: A Beginner's Guide, co-authored with Dawoud El-Alami.
More like an encyclopedic compilation of articles, there is some repetition between chapters, making a reading straight through sometimes tedious. Also, the overview is historic, not existential. The attempt to represent the breadth and depth of Judaism is rather one-sided, revealing a post-Orthodox point of view. All that being said, this is a helpful book, the kind that should be in a library for ready reference.
