Another entry in a long line of perfectly fine, perfectly average paint-by-number business books. Take a topic that everyone in the workplace engages in (listening and talking), put everyone into 4 neat and tidy style boxes (S.A.I.D.), repackage the concepts in a slightly different manner so you can slap a bunch of "TM"s throughout the book, rinse, repeat.
But on a serious note, if you're someone who has to take part in a bunch of meetings for your job, there are some good reminder pointers in here on how to adapt your responses for different scenarios. If not, you can probably skip this one.
Yet another instant classic and must read from the Duarte Group - this is a very practical read and significantly changed my assumptions about how to listen effectively. This is not ACTIVE listening as you learn in the introduction and I love how they provide the cues and scripts to navigate the different styles and goals for listening.
The four facets of listening laid out in this book seem to be solid and useful. Support, Advance, Immerse and Discern. I learned that I am very much an advance listener, along with the blessings and downfalls of this and every other style of listening. I found it helpful to learn settings and scenarios that would be better suited to certain types of listening.
Very helpful to learn and practice adaptive listening methods which will definitely help with both professional and personal relations. The four listening methods are explained in repetitions with a lot of contextual real life examples, which helps to immerse. Definitely recommended.
