Smokejumper

In Zephyr second assignment for Hera to bring love to the Sons of Olympus in order to relight the torch of Olympus to keep the world from fading into darkness. Zephyr is to help the descendent of Hephaestus (who is the future King of Forge and Flame) Ash who is the leader of the Smokejumpers find his mate. Only Ash is proving to be much harder to catch so Zephyr goes to the Oracle for some help. Ash is a dragon shifter who tends to enjoy to enjoy bending rules if it meant for excitement or a thrill. Ash is supposed to be out hunting wyverns but instead him, Smoke, and Blaze are sent to guard the tomb in Three-Point Pass that holds the god's flame. It is while on the way to the tomb that Ash finds a nest of inferni where he proceeds to go and extinguish them on his on and everything was going great until the inferni caught a sent and went another way heading straight for the town and Smoke and Blaze had to step in and helped him killed the inferni then Smoke proceeds to go off on Ash because he broke every single rule in one swoop calls him reckless. Ash tells Smoke that the inferni were hunting something and that they should check to make sure they don't have any unwelcome visitors. They stop and sniffed the air and searched wilderness until Smoke pointed in the distance where there was a mortal scent coming from. Ash convinces Smoke to let him go and check and make sure that everything is okay with the mortal. As Ash was checking everything out he found the mortal racing through the air on what he called a “flimsy contraption of fabric and steel,” so he decided that he would teach said mortal a lesson because first they had ruined his kill, and now they had invaded his kingdom the skies were his domain. But as he followed them through the skies, his eyes widened as he realized that the mortal was a woman. Ash sensed something stir within him as he watched her fly on her contraption. Her laughter drifted in the wind as she sailed on the currents, and her eyes gleamed in the firelight. His anger dissolved as he watched her fly, replaced with a desire to race with her. But Ash repressed the urges of his dragon form. Ash had to land and change into his human form. Once he did did he inhaled her scent on the winds and it aroused a hunger in him that had sparks burning in his eyes that made him have to fight to control his dragon. A fire spread through him that had been diminished for too long, until it stirred the embers of his heart. His eyes widened as her siren song carried on the breeze and called to him in a way that no other had before. He knew that she could be the one. He also knew that some rules were meant to be broken. Ember was determined to be a firefighter to join the legacy of her family. The only standing in her way is the Chief of the fire department who just so happens to be her father. It seems like the only thing that her father thinks that Ember can do is keep the office clean. Well that’s until Ember decides that she’s had enough and she’s going to go out and prove that she deserve a chance. Ember hops in the truck with her fellow trainees when her dad says all hands on deck to go help put out a wild fire. Once they get there when the Chief is about to give out orders the Smokejumper come them and take over. This is the first time that Ember sees Ash and she is instantly drawn to him but then she immediately gets over it because he stood in her way of getting what she wanted.Ash ends up coming to Ember recua the next day and offering her a spot as a Smokejumper because her father makes it pretty clear that he doesn’t want her as a firefighter so she takes him up on the offer. The more time she spend with Ash ends up figuring out just who he is and what it really means to be a smokejumper. What will happen now that Ember knows will she be the key to mending old fence or will she let history repeat itself?

I received this as an ARC for my honest opinion and I honestly loved it. I would definitely recommend that you read book.

This was a rapidly paced, action packed, and wonderfully written gripping "tail" of mythological proportions. Royale did a fabulous job of blending Greek myth with, well, a little of everything, and serving the reader a delicious treat that was easily finished in one sitting. Ash and Ember (got to love those names!) were tough and determined MCs. Ember was not the typical h, she was fierce, loyal, head-strong (maybe to a fault), compassionate, dedicated, and loving. She lacked the support, encouragement, and acceptance from her father which she saw as the ultimate prize.

Ash was a character! He was the leader of his group of Smokejumpers (including Smoke and Blaze). A strong and confident dragon, Ash did have a propensity to enjoy bending - or breaking - rules if it meant for excitement or a thrill. Sometimes jumping into situations that he should have left alone. Smoke seemed to be right there to remind him of his overstep at each juncture. (She cams off as a bit of a pessimist throughout most of the book.) When Ash spotted Ember he knew that following the rules on this particular mission had just gone out the window.

Ember was determined to be a firefighter, to join the legacy of her family. The only roadblock was her father. When Ash entered the equasion there was a different way to try and prove herself, and she couldn't resist the lure of being close to the man! As she spent time with him, and the other Smokejumpers, Ash showered her with the support, encouragement, and praise that she had longed for from her dad. When they encountered danger, and Ash too banned her from the flames, Ember became not only angry but suspicious. She was determined to discover what they were "protecting" her from.

When everything goes sideways, and Ember is left stranded in foreign territory, will anyone be be able to save her? Will Ash come to her rescue once again? Can these two catch a break - EVER? Or are the Fates stacked against them? So many twists and turns in this book. When you get a chance to breath… take it… it won't last!! I had an ARC and this is a honest, voluntary review. You need your own, and the rest of the series, to find out what happens with Ash and the rest if the Sons of Olympus! Happy Reading 📚

Peculiar Story

This story had two distinct parts not adequately tied together: the first longer part with the heroine trying to buck the system at the firehouse she works at and getting to know the hero and the second shorter part about the classic battle between good and evil. As you may guess, as a book in the series called the Sons of Olympus, this has a supernatural element, but it takes the concept further and makes the entire book a supernatural spin on reality. Firefighters are depicted as nearly on the level of the demi-gods, not quite as they are in real life. It seems, in this book, the fate of the world rests upon a small band of them!

The heroine makes stupid mistakes throughout the book, and I hated how she constantly put herself in danger without thinking it through. She would just head off and do something boneheaded! Despite this, I felt sorry for her and how her fire chief father treated her. He doesn't believe in her at all or believe her when she tries to point out that the young man whom he favors as the next firefighter is actually a bully and not worthy of joining their ranks. The father is bullheaded to the extreme. Frankly, I just wished Ember would quit that fire station rather than continue to be abused and misused by her father and the other firefighters. Her romance with Ash isn't explored as well as it should have been. I didn't get a sense of them truly falling for each other, but at some point, it just seemed to be expected and known even though it wasn't shown. They certainly have some opposition from his crew. Given that the romance was inadequately developed, their intimate scenes seemed abrupt, tacked on, and didn’t quite go with the flow of the story.

The end battle seemed like it came out of nowhere. Yes, a few hints were dropped about it, but not to the extent of the role it would play or what it even meant in the grand scheme of things. Much was missing throughout. This part of the book could have been excellent if the author had taken more care in building up to it and showing us what it really meant to the world she created. I have the next book in the series queued up and ready to go, and I hope it is better than this one.

I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.

Fire burns hot in this book. The love and suspense makes for a really good read. The touch of greek mythology is well portrayed within the story. The fire in Olympus is dimming and unless the sons of Olympus find their true love, the fire is only going to dim lower.

Ember is a trainee firefighter who is overlooked by her peers. She wants nothing more than to become a firefighter and recognition from her father, the chief who allocates her menial jobs, but all she wants is to be a firefighter. Enter Ash, the smoke jumper who recognises her abilities. He sees a fire in her that burns bright. He encourages her to be herself and acknowledge what her heart desires. When their eyes meet, a fire is erupted in both of them. Ember quickly recognises that she has feelings for Ash. The thing is that they are sworn enemies as dragons and humans are not meant to mix. Anyway, the smoke jumpers are here to help the firefighters who have sworn to hate and kill all dragons.

Blaze, another smoke jumper has a soft spot for Ember and sees that Ahs's and Ember's fire burn brighter when they are together. He is a bundle of laughter and I found myself chucking on more than one occasion. Ash and Ember form a relationship that goes beyond logic. Their relationship is quite beautiful and their love shines through. Drake has his own agenda and wants the world to burn, plus he has an army of demons behind him. Will he succeed in defeating them? Ash and Ember persist in extinguishing the fire and humans and dragons end up working together.

It's a good and entertaining read. Myth coupled with romance work well in this case. I received an eARC from BookSirens and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

The Light on Olympus is shining a little more brightly since Zed, the descendant of Zeus, and Tempest, the small town librarian, found love in the Storm Chasers. Zephyr is one step closer to uniting the demigods with their one true love and now he's tasked with locating Ash, the demigod dragon shifter and the leader of the Smoke Jumpers. The Smoke Jumpers are secretive in the job they do, and how they work to keep the world safe from disastrous fires. Ember is a trainee at the fire department, hoping one day that she'll be worthy of being the chief. Her father is now the chief, but is very dismissive of her talents, with an obvious bias that women should keep the building clean by sweeping and cleaning the uniforms of ash and filth. She has always felt home around the flames and analyzing how advances and improvements can be made. When the Smoke Jumpers appear out of the sky, she feels a sense of coming home, but their secretive mission has to be protected. The dragon-shifter leader notices something special about her and even he knows that he's found his mate. But the firefighters aren't going to let the Smoke Jumpers control the show and they plan and fight against them because everyone knows that dragons and humans just do not get along. As Ember and Ash work together to form an unbreakable bond, there are realities and discoveries to prove that dragons and firefighters are more alike than different. I really enjoyed this story and continue to be delighted at the "reflection of fire" in their names. Ember, Blaze, Ash and Smoke provide an added twist. The narration is very well done by Katie Bloomwood. Her dynamic, well-modulated voice gives each character an individual personality and unique attitude.

This book is amazing, so is the message of love it inspires. This book is action packed, full of danger, adventure, excitement and romance. Ash is a reckless, stubborn shifter who breaks the rules, dives headfirst into danger and the thrill of adventure. Ash daredevil ways get him sent to a small town with a huge secret and dangers that will bring him face to face with his sworn enemy, his life will be altered in ways he never dreamt of. Ember has dreams, aspirations, and a drive to be the next firefighter chief, however her father will never see her for who she is, so she sets out to prove herself. Ember is unaware of the real dangers that lay within the fires or the secrets that lay within them. Ember life changes when the smokejumpers arrive, and her eyes are opened to a whole new world of magic, adventure and love. Emer learns to listen to her heart and take a leap of faith by jumping into the fire instead of listening to hear head and following her father, the chiefs' rules. This is a wonderful book about going after your dream, not giving up and fighting for what you desire. It's about not giving up, finding who you are truly meant to be and becoming the person you want to be, it's about discovering your true self and seeing the beauty within everything around you. It's about an eternal love, about acceptance and working together to reach the same goal, unity is as beautiful as Love. Loving is so much better than hate and jealousy, and love is a drug that will fill your heart and soul with a power much greater than hate and jealousy. Love can last forever, there is beauty in all around us so embrace it. your world will forever be altered.

Finding Her Adventure . . .

Ash is a hot-headed, reckless, stubborn demigod dragon shifter who seeks adventure and continuously finds himself in trouble. He is a descendant of Hephaestus, God of Forge and Flame, and known for these tendencies. But because of his wild behavior, he is sent to a small town as punishment, only to find an enemy of his clan. He also finds Ember, a female firefighter who feels held back from her goals of becoming a hero. She seems to have the same courage but reckless spirit that Ash has, a perfectly dangerous combination.

The smoke jumpers are a group of supernatural firefighters, dedicated to fighting the horrors of the flames to make certain Earth isn’t consumed by hellfire. The fires they fight are not “normal” and the flames would kill the human firefighters. When Ember ends up brushing against magic as the smoke jumpers arrive, will Ash tell her their secrets? Will Ash let her join him to fight against the feared evil that threatens both their worlds. Will their partnership also draw out feelings for each other? And can they survive what’s coming so they can find a HEA together?

This feels a little like one of those reimagined fairy tales where the reader recognizes names but the characters follow a different path from their namesakes, such as the story of Prometheus. I love these tales and dragons are my all-time favorites, so I get the best of both worlds here. Grab your copy and enjoy the adventure!

Yeah so this book was not as good as the first. I think the author was desperately trying to keep with the theme of the series but this one just wasn't giving. First, the heroine is trying to be a firefighter or is a firefighter we didn't exactly know because firefighters didn't let random people come in and do their grunt work no matter what daughter they are. Her dad is the chief but does his best to hold her down and keep her from fighting fire. And for some weird reason carries a sword, why? I didn't get it. So obviously the heroine is an adult because firefighter but she's treated like a child and she allows it. They meet the smoke jumpers when includes yet another son of Olympus, Ash. And his part of the story was giving me, the beginning of Stephanie Meyers "Twilight" with Edward always stalking and doing that weird push/pull thing. That wasn't a bad thing it was just very unoriginal. So the firefighters don't get along with the smoke jumpers and now I'm getting West side story or Romeo and Juliet. Idk. I couldn't really get into this. Though there are some cool elements but one thing that still bugs TF out of me is that prologue. There's discussion of Percy but NOWHERE in the story does he appear. Why? What was the point? This book was not it and has turned me off the series.

H/h- Ash and Ember

POV- 3rd person

Genre- New Adult Romance

Genre- Fantasy/Paranormal Romance

Sub genre- Dragon Shifter Romance

Sub genre- Greek Mythology

Heat level- on Delilah S. Dawson’s scale, “We do the thing without naming the bits”

Series? Y

Cliffhanger? N includes teaser for next book

Triggers- mild violence (mostly punching and fighting with fire), sex

Tropes- Here Be Dragons, Forbidden Love

What I liked- beautiful descriptions, riding dragons, amusing side characters

What I think could be improved- I didn’t find the love story to be very compelling. It didn’t seem to come together until 3/4 of the book. Also, the heroine was juvenile even for a New Adult Romance.

Overall - I feel that if the sex scene was cut, this would make a marvelous YA book, because it is not so much romance as it is quest for growth and self esteem. I’d encourage my teenager to read this.

Verdict- recommended, but for older teens rather than adults.

This was a amazing book. It was a page tuner and I could not reading it. I never knew it had some much Greek mythology ancients involved. It will thriller situation in this book and suspense as well. I want to know what was going to happen next throughout his journey. It was a thriller and it had some many danger journey for Zephyr he was son to one of them Greek God. He went on many in his life he wanted to see the world and experiences things he never knew about as a child. He was very strong at as a child and town people could not believe that he was he was very helpful to others in his villages. This book has danger and adventure and went up against a creature. You going to be shock to see what happen next until you get to the end of the story. In my opinion I love the book so much. This author did a great job in writing this book.

Love Ember and Ash. The dragon and the firefighter they are suppose to be enemies but Ember has no idea. This book was amazing. Love the strong women that Ember is and how determined she is to become a firefighter. She will let no one stop her. When Ember and Ash meet, Ember tries to avoid it because she has no goal and she will not let anyone stop this goal or will she. If you want to find out if Ember got her goal or if she found a new one with Ash you will have to grab this book. If will not disappoint

The first book in this series amazed me, and this book continues that trend! Not only is the imagery absolutely wonderful, but the story made me want to keep reading. Additionally, his book reminded me how important it can be for someone to believe in you, even when you don’t believe in yourself – as well as how important it is to learn to believe in yourself & live your life accordingly. Thanks so much for this encouragement, Eden!!!

Dnf'd at 50%. The story had promise but ultimately I couldn't keep going after the two MC'S who are supposedly fated mates have sex for the first time right in the clearing where they just fought hellhounds....on top of the ashes of those fires actually. The writing was repetitive in that it did a lot more telling than showing about "the fire lit from within " the FMC. Also I may have been reading too many take no shit FMC'S lately because the way the FMC Ember didn't stand up for herself multiple times enraged me. The story has potential, just needs a bit of a rewrite.

There's always 1 in the group that always ruins things and gets their ego override their brain!! She got really tired of sitting on the sidelines while everyone else got 2 do what they wanted 2 do. but there was 1 hell of a surprise that she figured out but nobody wants 2 listen. Is that good or bad? Will the past control the present and the future? Read it and find out. I loved it. Its similar 2 the 1st book in a way but it's just as cool and interesting 2 read. I love how the twin boys finally get 2 b free. I can't wait 4 the next book asap!!

Ember wants to be a firefighter, and has been trying hard to convince her Chief father that she is more than capable of making her dreams come true. When a crew of Smoke Jumpers enter the town, her father doesn’t want them either. But suddenly Ember finds herself drawn to the leader, Ash. Ash is actually a dragon shifter. Ember finds that she wants to build a fire with ash as much as she wants to put out fires for a living. The story is fun and fast paced. Will definitely check out more in this series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It's a lovely mix of action and romance as Ember struggles to be recognized for her abilities and meets Ash. Ash gives her the chance and they fall for each other. Long held distrust caused by betrayal almost destroys everything until Ember changes it. Love is what heals the old would and saves the day as Ember and Ash battle evil together.

New adult, a little higher in the heat department than Storm Chaser - but with fiery dragons that's surely to be expected?!

As you would expect from a continuation in the Son's of Olympus series this book links to the greek gods.

Dragon shifters, firefighters and overcoming historical prejudice to forge relationships to save the world - a perfect transition for readers that are moving from the YA genre or for adults that enjoy PNR.

This is Ash and Ember's story, he's a dragon smokejumper and she's the chief of the firefighters daughter. Ember has been held back, put down as a firefighter because she's female and Ash Shows her that she can be everything she wants to be. I think they make a perfect match and are sweet together. This story has a bit more of Greek mythology which I absolutely love!! Can't wait for the next story!

I was so excited for this series, but all the books follow the same plot. Time after time, book after book, you knew what was going to happen. The author did a great job of following the themes, but I just wish the themes were subtle.
These are good books if you spread them out and not binge read them! I just made the mistake of reading them one after the other. This made it all seemed copy and pasted.

"A Greek Mythology Dragon Shifter Romance" What a subtitle! Eden Royale manages to bring it all together masterfully. An enjoyable read providing a combination of drama, humor, danger, smoke, fire, and, perhaps most importantly, romance. Smoke Jumper is well worth the time spent within its pages taking you to realms you wouldn't mind visiting a little while longer.

Loved the Firefighter/ Dragon shifter mix in this second story. Great characters... it just felt very repetitive to the first story. I really like the premise, so I am hoping the next book doesn't do the same thing.
