Welcome to another edition of "Amazon Recommends..."

THE COVER

The color scheme? How Purple, Pink and Blue are blended together. Show-stopping.
Those scales? Or at least I think that's what it is... what a beautiful feature and very fitting for a dragon warrior shifter. I'm impressed.
But how the guy is holding the alien baby? That's seems very unnatural. I'm concerned.

What is the book about? Well good question, next question.

I don't know if I was still blinded by the outstanding cover that I couldn't keep up with the content in this book, but I mean the title says it all. The heroine Luna goes on another planet to adopt an alien baby from this Alien Adoption Agency. Noxx (H) is the baby's protector and his task is it to help Luna settle in with the baby in their new tree house any play their bodyguard, cause around them are a lot of monsters. Big shoutout to the piranha-pigs. Those omnivorous creatures wake up at night to clean the forest ground. I didn't know I needed piranha-pigs until I read this book. That's why I love reading, there is always a new kink to discover. <3

For 75% I was just confused, because I didn't know what was going on and the other 25% I was laughing, because I was scared. Here are some of my favorite quotes with some of the notes that I took.

Phoebe had told them she hailed from a tribe of farmbers. Adopting a baby meant she would be given her own plot of land so that she would continue in that tradition.
NOTE: What? So ... that's how this works. You can adopt some random baby and get your own piece of land? Where can I sign up?

The Invicta had at last been granted the right to use the Imberian DNA to cultivate a crop of pod-babies to honor their fallen ancestors and resurrect their kind.
NOTE: What? WHO? What? Why? What did they do? HUH?

This baby was supposed to be an orphan. But he was blue, just like Noxx. She had been too busy gazing at her new son to pay much attention to her friends, but she thought she had noticed Aurora's baby was yellow with a yellow guard and Phoebe's was green with a green guard.
NOTE: What? Where is the correlation between being an orphan and the skin color? I don't understand this. HELP.

"Is there some kind of plant and animal guide for Clotho?" she asked him, hating the nervous twang in her voice.
"Ha," he laughed mirthlessly. And kept walking
NOTE: What? Okay?

MY TOP 2 QUOTES:
"And besides, tree monkeys are delicious."
"I think she might have babies in that nest," Luna said, sounding horrified.
"We don't have to eat them all at once," he chuckled. "We have a refrigerator."
NOTE: I'm asking once again WHAT? * chuckles nervously* I'm in danger.
"He's blue, like you," Luna said without thinking. Noxx chuckled. "Oh God, was that racist?" She asked, feeling horrified.
NOTE: What in the loving fuck?

A part of me wants to give this 1 star, because for the most part I didn't understand what was going on, who these people were, what these creatures were doin and straight up not having a good time, but then at other times I was on the floor cry-laughing. So 2 stars it is.

Update: The moral to the story is: Whether you're an alien or a human, don't trust any guy!!! He will deceive you, gaslight you, abandon you, and then return to you because he could *never* leave you.

I'm not sure why I thought the Alien guy would be better!!

Should have known better SMH

The only pluses were: when you adopt, you get a plot of land, money to support the baby, and a terrace flat!!

The baby was adorable, hungry all the time, and cranky af.

The hero was loyal and devoted.
The heroine wasn't pleading with him or acting pitiful.

BUT NO groveling!!! You cannot simply let the man return who abandoned you and your child because he says so!!!
I know it was only for a few hours, but STILL!!!

Plus this dude wasn't exactly a catch!!! He was trying to eat baby monkeys!!! CUTE BABY MONKEYS!!!!

At the very least, this book entertained me.
But I'm trying to break out of my reading slump.
Soooo

Pre reading thoughts
The ONLY thing that can get me out of this reading rut is a blue/purple (what shade is that?) Alien!!!

That is the only thing/creature/living being (how do we address aliens without sounding offensive?) that can save me.
I'm at a loss for options and desperate to get back into reading.

And something about the cover makes me think it'll be a fun read.

What does it matter if the plot involves an adoption agency with alien babies??!!
(I hope those babies look like Stitch!!!)

THAT'S MY CHILD!!! HE'S TAKING AFTER ME IN TERMS OF APPETITE AND MANNERS!!

I'm here for the ALIEN GUYS AND THEIR DIFFERENT SKINS!!!!

Leave him alone!!! He is kinda SHY lol

Can I get a Turquoise-colored alien boyfriend? It's my favorite color!! On the other hand, I do have a lot of turquoise clothing. Isn't that going to clash with his skin?!! I'll have to think about it.
With my luck, I'll end up with this.

REVIEW
If you’re looking for a quick alien romance, this is perfect. It had just the right amount of drama, pining, and misunderstandings for a fun time.

Ending was abrupt and clearly a set up for another book, and although I wish we got a glimpse into their life after their mating, the story was satisfying as a whole.

OW/OM DRAMA none
CHEATING none
THIRD ACT BREAKUP sort of — separation but it’s mostly a misunderstanding and is resolved quickly
ENDING HEA — no epilogue with set up for next book (featuring side characters as main characters)

POV dual / third person

RATING 3.5 / 5

They author skips through real meaningful parts as if the characters already had these conversations. Bizarre. The story idea is pretty cool and fresh but it needs help.

Meh! Very juvenile and hastily put together. I am so very over these cookie cutter books with no substance and an author who is just trying to get it out there. I would really like to read something with some depth of characters, great world building and a super storyline. This did not do justice to storytelling.

Noxx de Tasha Black Serie Alien Adoption Agency libro 1

Argumento:

Me dejó muchas incógnitas.

I liked this in the least invested way possible, which is all it really allowed for. Sure, it filled a couple of hours with entertainment. But there is far too little to it to be anything significant.

Look, I am wholly on board with fated mates and insta-lust that grows into love. But this book tried to convince me that two people from completely different cultures (let alone species) fell into true abiding love in less than three days. To say the plot is rushed is an enormous understatement. It's such a shame, too, because the plot has so much potential to develop in interesting ways. But Black didn't choose to pursue any of them.

For the record, it's not overly steamy. So, it's not erotica where sex is the point. The book is intended to have a plot, and it does. But it is so rushed that one feels as if they are reading an outline rather than a fully fleshed-out book.

Having said all of that. I liked the characters. It is a sweet read, and, as I said, it passed a few pleasant enough hours.

OMG THE MOONS ARE NAMED AFTER THE FATES. CLOTHO?!?!?! AMAZING NAME FOR A MOON. i can’t remember the others right now but i recognized it immediately 😭 it was so cool and made me like the book so much more
also, while it was very weird that he is a DRAGON SHIFTER and has SCALES i thought the dragon part was better than the other books where they have horns 😭
and the naming thing was cute, Luna with baby Sol
ALSO RIVER love him, love the representation.

there were many parts that were meh and the writing is awkward to read because of all the fated mate stuff and the fact that his dragon is like a separate being but it was fiiiiine 😅

might read the whole series so i have more books for 2023….

No character building, feels like you don't even know Noxx. Zero chemistry between Noxx and Luna. Little Sol was adorable though but had very few scenes. Nothing felt like out of world.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Slow down, lovebirds!"

So, I liked this book. I really did. It was entertaining, kept me turning the pages, and had its fair share of “OMG” moments. But let’s talk about the plot for a second... because it felt like we went from 0 to 100 real quick. One minute, we’re meeting these characters, and the next, they’re already planning a forever.

I’m all for a little romance, but the insta-love here was strong. They locked eyes, and boom! Soulmates for life. I mean, slow down, lovebirds, maybe have a coffee date first?

Don't get me wrong, it had some good moments, but it felt like the story was in a race to get to the finish line. I wish the author had taken a little more time with the plot, let things simmer, you know?

If you’re into whirlwind romances that’ll leave you dizzy, this is for you. But if you like your love stories with a bit more… foreplay, this might leave you craving a little

Overall, this was alright. I stumbled on it in recommendations somewhere, it's a 15 book series, and the whole adoption agency premise sounded mildly interesting.

It could use some beta reading - wrong words being used, sudden leaps in the text where something existed that didn't two seconds ago, stuff like that.

The characters were.. okay. I liked Luna except for the salad incident because that was such a blatantly dumb move. Noxx was so angsty and melodramatic about his "inner dragon", being unnecessarily curt with Luna at times, and his own dumb mistakes that I was overall not really a fan.

An unexpected plus was a minor deaf character with their own alien sign language that differed from whatever future Terran sign language Luna was familiar with. I also liked the baby. The baby was genuinely a likable character haha

Some things that felt like they were missing or didn't make sense:
* If Luna, Phoebe, and Aurora made fast friends and were in this lonely, weird situation together, why didn't they use the transmitter to communicate with each other?
* They're on a remote moon without many inhabitants. It's very dangerous at night and having any kind of home is difficult. There's a village described as "two rows of buildings." Please tell me how or why there is a HOTEL at this village? Who the hell is traveling and staying there?
* Luna and Noxx know each other for a shorter time than the length of their claiming period

I'm not really a sci-fi fan but I've read and enjoyed another book by this author so I took a chance on this first book in a new series. Overall I'm glad that I did. It was an enjoyable, easily read, quick read with characters that were interesting and charming. The book also had lots of light, fun interaction between the characters. However, if the story had just been given a few more details it would have pushed up from 3* to an easy 4*. Why/how did the ladies get involved in the adoption process? What happened with the babies home planet that now sees them being adopted by different species? More background into the characters. A bit more depth would have improved my enjoyment significantly.

When our eyes met
Sign me up to adopt! Especially if each baby comes with a dragon protector. The author did a fantastic job with this story! The story was an interesting new concept, and I loved the way she added depth to it by giving Noxx and Luna such different personalities and abilities. The addition of the village took the story to another level, and brought tears to my eyes in grief and joy. This book is an amazing series starter and I can’t wait to read the next installment. It sounds like it’s going to be exciting.

Alas, neither dragons nor aliens increase my tolerance for stupidity.

There is so much space for the more interesting parts of sci-fi. World building. Culture shock. Technology. The perils and pitfalls of living on an alien moon. I would've read a whole chapter describing the treehouse. But no - instead we spend all of our time on our colossal moron of a heroine.

The adoption agency fucked up there. She might be maternal but she has no survival instinct to speak of and, frankly, without the hero, she and the baby wouldn't have made it through their first night. Literally. Apparently it didn't occur to the agency to mention that night falls every six hours on this moon and any living creature on the ground at nightfall is liable to be eaten alive... Wouldn't you think that would've come up at some point?

Wouldn't you also think that someone who has apparently survived substantial poverty on her home-ish world would be a bit more pragmatic? Like - why eat something a local told you not to? Why sacrifice your only reliable food source for a radio? Particularly when the nearest settlement is in walking distance? Who do you need to talk to more than you need to eat? And when faced with a hornet with eyes bigger than your head, that has torn people limb from limb, is your instinct really to leave your hiding place, wave your arms at it and say "shoo"? Seriously?

Like... sure, it's good for this baby to have a mother who loves babies and animals and is nice but it'd be better for him to have one that will keep him alive.

As for the hero... eh. My only thought, really, is that complete about-faces in three days are not terribly convincing. It can't have been that hard a decision.

Poorly written

There was no real world building, no character development and no real relationship building. There was the whole insta mates thing, but that was it. Noxx's personality did a 180 for no apparent reason and there was no reason to emotionally invest in any of the characters. There weren't any grammar issues, at least, but I really don't feel the need to read anything else by this author.

not for me

So I have been obsessed with reading one of her books. However, in the end they are not for me. They are very sweet. There is nothing really mature in content in them.

Like eh it’s a slow burn for sure but no real payout for someone like me.

However, it was well written.

I loved the idea of the story. It was entertaining but it felt rushed. The characters were two dimensional. It was a quick read and it intrigued me to see what the rest of the series will be like. It is not the best that I have read in this genre.

Good start to the series! This is the first time I've read Tasha Black and it was such a pleasant experience. The truth was I had hit a bit of a wall and hadn't found a book to capture my attention enough to finish in a couple tries. After two start and stops, I tried Noxx and was immediately interested.

Noxx and Luna (and baby Sol) really fit together well. Luna is intelligent and kind. Her big heart helps another human at the start of the story and shows up again and again. The kindness isn't sugary, which I appreciated but just... nice. Her desire to connect and have a family and a home of her own is completely understandable and relatable. She's a strong woman that doesn't have all the answers, which is another thing I appreciate.

Noxx, on the other hand, is grumpy personified at the beginning. He knows right away that Luna is his mate and fights it with everything he can. He also fights his natural connection to baby Sol, trying and failing to set up boundaries that are flimsy at best. Oh and he is a dragon shifter with a deep desire to protect those he loves.

The reason this didn't get a five star is because the end felt rushed. It wasn't bad by any means, but I think I was expecting more. And because I was kinda sad that the other human women were almost forgot about by Luna once she's on her own adventure. I know this is most likely because they get separated at the start of the story and if the author showed anything at the end (beyond one quick moment with Aurora to lead you into the second book) it would give away spoilers. Still it would have been nice to have Luna at least think about the others instead of never bringing them up again, especially since it's said at the beginning they became friends. Just weird. But over all, I really liked this book and have already brought the second!
