Joanna Gaines—cofounder of Magnolia, cook and host of Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines, and New York Times bestselling author—brings us her third cookbook filled with timeless and nostalgic recipes—now reimagined—for today’s home cook.
Whether it’s in the making, the gathering, or the tasting of something truly delicious, this collection of recipes from Magnolia Table, Volume 3 is an invitation to savor every moment. In Joanna’s first cookbook, the #1 New York Times bestselling Magnolia Table, she introduced readers to her favorite passed-down family recipes. For her second cookbook, Magnolia Table, Volume 2, she pushed herself beyond her comfort zone to develop new recipes for her family. In this, her third cookbook, Joanna shares the recipes—old and new—that she’s enjoyed the most over the years. The result is a cookbook filled with recipes that are timeless, creative, and delicious! Just as in her past books, within each recipe Joanna speaks to the reader, explaining why she likes a recipe, what inspired her to create it in the first place, and how she prefers to serve it. The book is beautifully photographed and filled with dishes you will want to bring into your own home,

Joanna Gaines is co-owner, co-founder and lead designer of Magnolia Homes, and co-stars in HGTV’s Fixer Upper with her husband Chip Gaines. She is the mother of five and lives in Waco, Texas.
Maybe this is a bit uncharitable but I don't buy the narrative Joanna is trying to sell. Sure, with the TV programs and Magnolia-verse she has built in Waco, along with the book writing and magazine editing, when exactly is she doing all this cooking for everyone? And I am a fan, not a hater...
At any rate, this is a perfectly serviceable cookbook. It is eclectic to the extreme, covering many world cuisines and trendy dishes, and there are photos for around half of the recipes. My sense is less experienced cooks who are fans will enjoy the book far more than non-fans or more seasoned cooks.
Try the Apple Cinnamon Walnut bread! A lot of these recipes are for autumn, a mix of common recipes and the new and unique. Although, it's not worth the solid 50$ I paid for the physical copy.
I love Joanna Gaines. This third volume in her cookbook series is wonderful. So many yummy recipes. And her anecdotes make each recipe a delight to read.
This is very much a book full of comfort food recipes. I made the chicken gyros and it was pretty simple. I liked her tzatziki sauce recipe. Plan to make others.
I think to really enjoy this, you need to be a fan of her show and lifestyle items. The recipes are sound, and I like that she includes the full prep, cooking and cooling times. But I doubt she cooks like this on a regular basis. Many of the recipes are also served in their restaurants and stores, so if you have been to those you may be able to recreate them. There is a lengthy chapter on bread baking; I found the best chapter to be the snacks/apps. There is a broad range of recipes in here, from bagels to kimchi and short ribs. I love that she makes Korean cooking so accessible, but I would never make my own bagels, living in NJ. With the only theme being 'things the Gaines family likes', I found the recipes to be too eclectic.
These recipes are sound, and there are photos for most recipes. However, there wasn't a ton of logic in some of the groupings, and I found that most of the recipes took too much time for me to make during the week. Worth checking out if you're a fan of the Gaines' shows or restaurants.
A good collection of recipes from Joanna Gaines that follows on the tradition of the previous volumes in the Magnolia Table series. I will admit that there weren't quite as many recipes that I wanted to make this time around, often because I don't do deep frying, but that was to be expected as I find that my ability to dig out new recipes from the same cookbook series wanes over time.
The instructions are clear and well written. The visuals to accompany the recipes work. And there were some cute anecdotes for the recipe intros that I have grown to really love for the little glimpse into the personality of Gaines as she writes and lives her life.
The book itself and the photos are beautiful as always. The recipes included left me wanting something more unique. A lot of the recipes included (especially dinners) seemed to be repeats of old recipes in her other book with a slight twist. And there are two recipes for baked ziti- which is fiiiiinnnneeee. But for those of us looking for fresh weeknight dinner inspo - this doesn’t take the cake. However- I enjoyed the breakfast section and I loved the addition of the bread section! Desserts as always also came in looking amazing. In all- it’s a pretty book to put on my shelf, but I don’t see myself reaching for this on a regular basis.
This cookbook is so good. Each volume has a whole chapter on breads but volume 3’s chapter looked extremely simple and delicious. I don’t eat very much gluten but stopped reading mid chapter to make the beer bread, because it looked so easy, I had to try it immediately (it was ridiculously easy & delicious, even with double dose of gluten. Haha). The breakfast chapter was basically a continuation of the bread chapter (with more sugar) but the other chapters are full of recipes I’ll find a way to create at home. I am excited to try the Korean recipes that are sprinkled through the books.
I love READING cookbooks, and those by Joanna Gaines are glorious - so beautiful! I have all three volumes of the "Magnolia Table" cookbook series. I only wish that Gaines would feature more gluten and dairy free recipes - or offer alternative ingredients when gluten and dairy are a part of the recipes. Because most of the recipes include dairy, there are many that I can not make. Another enjoyable READ.
I wouldn't have minded more information about Joanna. A couple months later, she did drop her biography, so I'm content.
This contained a lot of good recipes. Some I'll try, but some I won't. I love the combination on Korean and American food. The kimchi was my favorite recipe as it's a traditional Korean dish that tastes so good. If you haven't had, you should definitely try it out.
I have a deep passion for immersing myself in the world of cookbooks, and the ones crafted by Joanna Gaines are truly magnificent – a feast for the eyes! I've collected all three volumes of the "Magnolia Table" cookbook series. What captivates me is the diverse array of recipes, spanning from mouthwatering bagels to exotic kimchi and succulent short ribs. Joanna Gaines effortlessly demystifies Korean cuisine, making it not just delicious but wonderfully accessible.
The only part of the book that I liked was the first part that had the breakfast section. Volume 3 for me was better than volume 2, but there were not enough recipes in this book that I liked or would actually make that would warrant me buying this book. I will stick with the first book and go from there.
I really like the recipes in this book. I think I could actually make a good many of them. That's pretty cool. I found some where I just want the sauce and there are lots of great sauces. I found some where I would add an ingredient that I like and that would not ruin the recipe. It's a recipe book. I like it.
4* Very similar to Joanna's first two books, friendly style, focus on food as a way to connect families. The recipes are a little bit different or more advanced - which is fine, I just won't make many of them because they are labour-intensive and showy rather than down-home style. It's a beautiful book and looks great on the shelf.
The first recipe I tried was the “Cordon Bleu”. My husband and I thought it was delicious! In addition to great recipes, I enjoyed reading the true stories too. I can’t wait to try the pie recipes next. I’ve already got them all bookmarked. Thanks, Joanna!
I’m not a fan of the Gaines and wanted to hate this cookbook. I didn’t. It’s a decent cookbook. I’m doubtful that all these recipes were created & written by Joanna. I’m sure her fans will love this book.
I deducted a star because some of the recipes are complicated, take a long time to make, or require a ton of ingredients/obscure ingredients. Despite that, there are lots of delicious and creative recipes in this book.
Slightly more outlandish recipes than first two—but not a complaint, just an observation. I recommend the chicken alfredo lasagna, the Dutch baby, and the blueberry cake loaf.
I really enjoyed this collection of recipes and how it all came to be. There are a couple recipes that have already been requested I make again from the family. So I call that a win!
