Brilliant FBI forensic examiner and entomologist Fiona Red has never encountered a case she cannot crack before—until now. Why are recent bodies showing up and appearing to be years old? What does this killer’s mysterious signature mean? And who will he strike next?

I listened to the audiobook version and it was very distracting to have the very American story read by a British voice actor. The story was weak and the FBI part of the story seem very unrealistic.
This was another good read for Fiona Red Suspense Mystery Thriller. The agents are formally made a threesome by their Captain and Lauren is not happy. She wants Jake to let their Captain know that they are a couple. She gives him an ultimatum. Of course, they get a case before Jake can do what he promised Lauren, he would do. This is the case of the unsub killing these young women, but he is cleaning them up. He puts bleach down their throat, and he embalm them and there is no evidence because he cleans them up. Lauren and Jake are growing apart and are not working as in sync as they usually do. Lauren feels like Jake listens to Fiona more than he follows her leads, but the truth is, it is all about solving the case no matter who comes up with the lead. This is good and I am looking forward to see what is going to happen with Jake and Lauren. I am also looking forward to what Fiona does with the case file she took from the police department to have a look at. This is a good read.
This author, Blake Pierce, has supposedly written 234 books by the approxate age of mid 30s. Yeah, right! Agatha Christie wrote about 130 books, BY HAND, her whole life!! HER books were imaginative and wonderful. Blake's are an approximate copy of each other. So, no doubt he has a stable of ghost writers, AND no doubt he's discovered Chat GPT, or one of the copies that have sprung up over the past few years. Because if he's written more than two or three books in his life, I'll eat onions for breakfast! Having ACTUALLY bought two of his books, I'll buy no more. And THAT goes for all those publishers trying to hook us up with their wonderful series.......
Another good story involves Fiona - the entomologist who is becoming an FBI Agent-, Jake, and Lauren who are searching for a killer that embalms their victims and places them in body bags in the forest. There is no trace of the perpetrator, so the 3 of them have to pursue lines that may lead to the culprit. Fiona's and Lauren's opinions are often conflicting which leaves Jake in a difficult position. What will happen to this small team? How Jake and Lauren's personal relationship will be affected by Fiona's constant participation in their daily lives? Looking forward to reading the next book!
Fiona Red, an entomologist, is caught up, in an FBI case, with two Senior Agents in a murder of a number of young , good looking, girls in an area around Portland. What transpires turns in to a fast, action packed, frenetic case in which Fiona becomes heavily involved, even coming up with distinct possibilities as to the possible identity of the perpetrator.
Agents Lauren & Jake are teamed with Fiona again. They are searching for a serial killer who is killing young women, seemingly without a struggle. Then he cleans their bodies with formaldehyde, places them in a body bag & leaves them in parks. Lauren & Fiona clash on the killer's profile. Lauren gets her suspect. While she & Jake are questioning him, Fiona tells Jake she has a more suspicious suspect. He leaves with Lauren & goes to find the killer & the fight is on! Great Read!
i guess i need to see if have read any others from BP before. i will do that asap!! found this ...didn't know it was book 2 in the "A Fiona Red FBI Suspense Thriller" series. 13 books apparently in that so far. i didn't realize that??! go figure. lol!! came out March 17, 2023. women sleuth (books & kindle store). suspense. neat book cover. laters. i gotta live and read ..
Someone was murdering women, placing them in body bags, and leaving no evidence for the FBI to follow. Fiona, a lab technician, had helped the agents, Jake and Lauren, solve the last case. The boss decided to put her on that team again. Would they be able to find the murderer? Story flowed smoothly and soon you knew the characters.
3.75 but I’ll give it 4 ⭐️. This was a quick and simple read. I enjoyed reading it. I’m having a blast reading these idk why. I don’t know if Fiona will ever end up with Jake but her crush on him is kind of cute ngl. Lauren is annoying though so she can leave idc about her. Jake and Fiona make a great team. They should be partners asap.
4.5⭐️ Definitely focused more on the crime and the steps to solve them. Loved that Jake was trusting Red more even though that cause tension with his partner. LAUREN NEEDS TO GET A GRIP ON LIFE I MEAN COME ON.
Listened to the audiobook, as I did for the first one in this series. The plot was weak and very similar to book 1. I’m not sure who the target audience is for this type of book, I suppose I might have enjoyed it if I was a teenage girl. I don’t think I will continue the series. Disappointing.
It was okay, again, I feel like Lauren and Jake are in Middle school not grownups in the FBI. The stories are interesting. Fiona the bug girl, is a third wheel in the partners relationship, but she seems to be the smart one.
Who was leaving young girls in body bags in a wooded area? So these three FBI agents are investigating the case. They eventually find the guy. His reasoning for killing the women was twisted.
Fiona Red seems like a shy, introverted girl. Her analyst brain helps her see things more clearer than anyone else. I have enjoyed the two stories that I have read. Maybe there could be hope for her and Jake!
This book seems to be written by another author - not Blake Pierce. The characters are immature and there is far to much repeating. And why a reader with an English accent for a book set in America with all American characters? Weird. The story line was OK but I'm done with the series.
I have listened to 2 of the mysteries featuring Fiona Red and enjoyed them very much. But I could do without the childish behavior of the 2 main detectives who continually bicker. They are trying to work together and have a relationship outside of work.
2nd book. Fiona looking into her sister cold case. Then she is called back in to help FBI with a new case. Lauren wants Jake to let their boss know they are seeing each other. But Jake gets cold feet. Can they find a serial killer before he kills again?
Fiona Reid is a brilliant forensic examiner who’s been aded to a team with two seasoned FBI partners. Unfortunately for Fiona the female partner Lauren is jealous of the easy rapport between her male counterpart Jake. Fiona’s back story contains a sister who went missing from a crowded beach when they were only teens. This is book two of the series and Fiona is getting more confident but when faced with a killer trying to stab her mentor she shot the killer in the arm. Fiona is now dealing either her nerves and remorse.
Everything about book was entertaining...the case the three FBI agents worked on, the personality conflict of the male and female agents, and the sensitivity Fiona shared to the readers about her missing sister.
The writing was a little “basic” at times if that makes sense. I really like that you get multiple POVs in telling the story, but I could seriously smack Jake and Lauren’s heads together - I’m over their dynamic and drama…hoping it will come to an end in book 3.
So far I like the series but it is a little strange that Red has solved both cases almost single-handedly. I do wish the Lauren and Jake angle would play out because Im tired of Laurens drama.
Love there connection.. love how it ends so great and the killer is put away! The way they kill or find these women are so strange and never thought of. Impressed.
Absolutely love this series ... I bought book 2 ... I want to find the rest at Libby or our local Library as can't afford the next 9 books but really want to read them.
