Growing up on a Tennessee cattle farm, I never expected to end up in San Diego, California, a divorced former Marine working as a construction manager. Yet here I am, pushing thirty and starting over, looking forward to a quiet life with zero complications.
But then Kristy, the gorgeous, Christmas-loving bartender at my buddy's bar walks into my life, turning my world upside down.
When an honest mistake turns our budding romance into a complicated mess, it will take more than mistletoe and twinkling lights to save us.
Will the magic of Christmas be enough to give us our happily ever after?
Forrest is a standalone Christmas novella set in the Infinitum Series world. It features appearances from characters in the series. You will see the main characters again in book 4, Code Falcon.
Laura Mowery has had her nose in a book since she learned her ABC’s, so it's no surprise that she pursued a career as an author. She grew up obsessed with stories, especially any that included supernatural or otherworldly elements. She also loved to get swept away on romantic adventures. Now she gets to combine the two and write about what she loves; suspense, superpowers, and steamy romance.
Laura lives in San Diego, CA with her husband, two cats and a dog. If she’s not writing, you’ll find her adventuring with her husband, eating tacos, drinking local craft beer, or curled up with a book.
Kristy has a lusty twinkle in her eye for one of the bar patrons where she works, but thinks he’s out of her league. Meanwhile, new in town Forrest thinks Kristy is the most beautiful woman he’s laid eyes on in ages, but his bar owner buddy has forbidden him from dating his best employee.
A set up by a good-intentioned but misinformed friend sets off a flurry of flirty text messages leading to a huge misunderstanding that might put an end to this promising pairing before it’s even begun.
I loved this short but totally adorable holiday novella! The author does a terrific job creating believable, well rounded characters (their chemistry sparks off the page!) and a very plausible misunderstanding that threatens to keep them from getting what they both want. A quick, but very satisfying read… I’m still smiling over the wonderful ending!
I loved this little novella with a sexy mix-up leading to both laughter and love. I also loved the writing style of this author and will definitely be reading more from her.
Kristy has a crush on Brando, but he changes women as often as his socks. When his friend, Forrest moves to town, he takes a liking to Kristy. Cue pre-Christmas confusion as a good deed leads to a big misunderstanding. Lovely story that makes the reader nervous about the chance of an HEA. Not really Christmassy, but great fun.
This is a cute little novella that includes a lot of the characters from the infintium series but can be read as a standalone.
Kristy has a major crush on Brando, and thanks to her friend, she thinks she's started a texting relationship with him, but it's Forrest, who happens to have a crush on Kristy.
I really liked Forrest in this story, he was likeable and genuine, I did struggle with Kristy, she was just so fixated on Brando (man-wh0r3) that she could see what was in front of her. I have to say I wasn't a fan of how it all came out in the end, I'm not sure I'd be as forgiving as Forrest.
I've read ither books in this series, and this one does not paint Brando in a favoyrable light, but he had been likeable in the other books - it was interesting to see this side of him.
I was very intrigued with this short story and getting to know these characters a little bit in the short time made me want to start the series. I love ex-military, small town romance and this one did hit the mark. Forrest is coming off of a bad divorce and Kristy is the girl who no one takes a second look at and they have an instant connection. There’s a plot twist in it and I enjoyed the outcome. This was more sweet with a touch of spice towards the end and I loved how Forrest really made Kristy feel seen and empowered. I’ll definitely want to check out more of this author and series.
I definitely enjoyed this story. While much of it seemed like this could never have a happy ending in real life, but it does. Definitely a fictional tale, but that’s why we read anyway
