I have been lucky with the life that I have lived. Between the threats of kidnap, pandemics, natural disasters, wars, revolutions, my fair share of bullets and a near miss with a bomb in east Africa, I have been fortunate enough to spend a career working alongside some exceptionally competent leaders. Conversely, I have also spent more than my fair share of time with distinctly unsavoury characters from militia to boardrooms, nearly all of which have given me plentiful examples of ineffective leadership.
Within this book I have attempted to capture the most valuable leadership lessons from my time spent in industries where leaders are often the only difference between life and death. You will learn about how to lead and when to manage, gain an insight into the cognitive processes that influence our critical decisions, as well as hopefully gain an appreciation of engaging the workforce so they work with you and not against you, and much more…
But it won’t all be a bed of roses, I will also talk about the darker side of leadership and what happens when it all goes wrong, which can often result in devastatingly tragic consequences.
Finally, please remember that this book is made from my collective experiences, not yours. As Aristotle said, ‘It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it’. With that in mind, enjoy the book and drink in every word, but do not necessarily accept everything that I have written. Ultimately, the developmental journey of a great leader is a deeply personal affair that involves earning and owning their own authentic perspective.

Philosophical understandings on motivation and managing for today's world
This is quite the motivators book, with personal insights on philosophical and psychological on why we want people to come to work, why customers should want to work with their supplier's. Nice Snippets in laymen terms that can be referred back to again and again.
